Preview and Links

I was happy to find the link feature in Leopard, and followed the directions in the help section. I selected the text, clicked the link button, went the the area where I want to go to in the same document, clicked on the beginning of the page and then clicked the set destination under link within PDF.
When I go back to the original item, clicking on it doesn't do anything. Am I using the wrong mode (move/text/select)? Can anyone get this to work?

I got it working. Sort of. In Preview, select the word or words you want to click on and under tools->annotate->add link. Then go to the page you want to link to using the sidebar and select the page. The annotate inspector should show up and you'll have the option of either linking to another website or within the current page to link to. The problem is that I get linked the the next page, and I have to scroll up.

Preview and links since 10.4.4 ?

Good morning,
When reading in Preview a PDF file created with Word or Pages (either through PDF Maker or print/save as PDF) with links thereafter activated in Acrobat, those links are dead, they do not work anymore when they worked fine before 10.4.4
Is there any tip on how to deal with that ?

First off, it sounds like you have some third party software installed that has not been tested with Mac OS X 10.4 that needs to be removed. The other possibility is that this system instability is due to some preference, cache, or font corruption, or directory issue. A third possibility is that your input device is beginning to fail. Optical mice also may simply behave erratically if they are on a surface with very little optical differences across the surface since they use the differences of the surface to track themselves. Since there are numerous possible causes, some which require isolating with certain utilities, a backup of one's data is paramount to ensure such utilities don't leave you in worse shape than you started, then once we are sure all your personal data is backed up, we can try to isolate the issue. So it sounds like yes all the personal data is backed up?

Adding New View Objects/Link on "Preview and Print" - Order Acknowledgement

Hi,
Can we add New View Objects/View Links for the existing "Preview and Print" Order Acknowledgement.
I want to add for the 2 new functionalities i.e., for Charges (from OE_PRICE_ADJUSTMENTS_V ) and the Line Level Notes, which is currently not supported by Oracle.
Can anyone help me on acheving this functionality?

You can do that. You should first create the new business objects(AM, VO, VL) in jdeveloper, create your new regions in jdeveloper, associate the AM to the top level region(stackLayout) you create. Use personalization and add a stack layout in the Preview and Print page, set the extends property to point to the new region which you had created. Donot forget to deploy all the files in middle tier before doing the personalization.
The AM which you had added to the stackLayout will automatically be nested with the root AM of the page during runtime.

Losing links of images on Preview and Publish.

Some images are not linking on Preview and Publish (Beta7). I have relinked (even going back to the original in Photoshop) and re-published again, those link up but then other images stop linking and do not load. Ones that were working fine just minutes ago.

Here is the link to a recently published site. On the Publish I did about 30 min. before all the images were loading. Now on this page two are not. When I wrote the question yesterday 6-7 images were missing, randomly. One than publish again three, than more. Since yesterday I went back to a earlier saved version and made some minor type changes and links, not involving any of these images. The first time I published today, all the images were linked. It seems the longer I work with the file the more images seem to disappear. Preview and inactive links

I created a pdf document from a Word document using the Print and Save as PDF choices. The url links that exist in the Word document work properly. When I open the pdf document in Preview, the links are not active. When I bring up this document in Adobe Reader, they work properly. Is this a limitation of Preview interpreting links from a pdf created from a Word document? If I create a pdf the same way (via the built-in pdf capability of OSX) from a browser page with links, those links work fine in Preview. I'm guessing that this is a problem with the OSX built-in pdf capability to deal properly with links in a Word document. By the way, I'm using Word 2011 but this also happens with Word 2008.

Preview and Open dialog box on initial start of program?

Okay, I understand that it might be beneficial when starting Preview that an open dialog box also pops up. However, I find it VERY annoying that it does it when I double click on a PDF and Preview goes through it's initial startup. It NEVER did this before...am I missing some setting?
I know it may seem like a small annoyance but, for some reason, it really bugs me.

It did solve the annoyance but definitely seems like a bug to me. I will post in feedback to Apple since opening a pdf in preview and then automatically opening an open dialog box has no value. It also shouldn't be linked to Documents and Data in icloud being checked or not.

How do I change the copyright info and links in collection pages?

Can anyone tell me how I can change the copyright info and links on a collection page using the new updated Public Site Manager?
1. When I click on 'Configure selected collection' there doesn't seem to be an option to edit copyright information and I've tried editing the info in Settings > Copyright Notice but it doesn't filter through to the collection pages.
2. When I click on 'Configure selected collection' the links tab is empty but on my collection page there is a link called 'website' which links to our University website but the url is incorrect so I need to change it.

Also when I add a url list to a collection page and then delete all the links I'm left with a blank url list showing in preview page in iTunes. This should not happen, the admin guide says -
"To delete a collection page URL list, delete all the links in the list. When you publish, if you have a URL list with no links, iTunes U Public Site Manager hides the empty URL list."
It doesn't. At least it doesn't for me when I preview the collection in iTunes.

Preview and TextEdit quit unexpectedly (fresh install)

I just installed OS X Lion but i can't open Preview and TextEdit.
Exception Type: EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION (SIGILL).
Is anyone else encountering this?

I think I found the cause of the problem: you cannot have any symbolic links or alias in your home directory.
Delete the alias, and then Preview.app and Textedit.app will open again without error. Once you succesfully launch the applications, you can then go back a re-create the symbolic links.

Difference between execution mode of Print preview and Print for Output

Hello,
Can anybody tell the difference between execution mode of print preview and print for an output (For eg. PO output or Invoice)?. I am trying to download some documents linked to Purchase order to desktop. The code is written in the same driver program for printing PO and it is executed after smartform function module is called. It works fine in print preview mode and it fails in print mode. The reason why download fails in print mode is that GUI not available (just found from debugging).
Any ideas?

try using any other printer and find out if you are getting the correct output. The printer needs to support Multiple Unicode encoding schemes like UTF 8, UTF 16BE, and UTF 16LE, plus special characters and logos, bi-directional text layout, and custom characters..

Preview and pdf's in Safari

Hi,
I prefer to view pdf pop up links in Acrobat Reader. There seem to be more steps to save a pdf opened in Preview than the one step to save a pdf opened in Reader. I used "more info" in Finder to change the preference for all pdf files to open in Acrobat. This works great except in Safari. Preview still opens the pdf links in Safari. Is there some way to stop Preview and use Acrobat for viewing pdf's in Safari? Acrobat is opening pdfs everywhere but in Safari.

This may be way out in left field because I couldn't really follow what all the entries were saying.
However, after my operating system was upgraded to OS X 4.8, I was unable to download PDFs. Safari always appended ".download" to the PDFs I was viewing. When I tried to save the document I was forced to use the .download extension.
Then when I tried to view the saved file, I was told that it was not valid download file.
To make a long story short, I quickly read through all the entries - I wasn't going to start deleting things as some of the entries suggested - but I did follow one suggestion, and that was to re-install Adobe Reader.
That fixed it. It all works quite differently than it did before my operating system was upgraded - but at least I can now SAVE and THEN READ a PDF now.
So, indirectly, thanks everyone for your help.

LR 4 - image does not appear in Preview and will not print`

The selected image appears on the main/center panel but not in the preview screen. Printing results in a white sheet of paper with no image at all. The image has been updated to LR 4 - but made no difference. I've served help and the forums (where i saw mention of similar problems, but no comments or guidance on the problem). What am I doing wrong?

The problem began with the installation of LR4. I print directly from LR4 to my HPZ3100. I routinely select "print preview" in the print dialogue box. Now the first print I see the preview and then it prints. If I select a second print job and use the "print preview" the print preview screen comes up blank and never loads. If I try to delete the print job, it just never responds (resolves) so I have to turn off the computer and the printer and restart to clear the print job. if I don't use the print preview, it prints just fine (except that I'm not able to check what's about to be printed). Thanks for any thoughts you have on this.

Bill, if this is only happening some of the time, then we are probably looking at a resource issue. Any pattern in when things won't print? e.g. Certain file type won't but others will? Or is it more of a timing/order thing? e.g. First file prints fine, second does not? VStromee, do no files print for you? Or is it like Bill and sometimes the print and other times they do not? Did you install any new software recently or have any updates to the OS or any application that has printing capabilities?

Wrong print preview and printed color from Lightroom 1.3

I am running Vista Ultimate and i just installed the driver for my Canon PIXMA Pro9000.
When i try to print from Lightroom 1.3 the colors are very muted, even when i do print preview the colors are wrong in the print preview screen.
No matter what i do i cant seem to get lightroom to Print Preview AND print with the right colors.

(on the left) is what i see and get when i do a print preview and print and my monitor image is on the right.
If i use Canon DPP the colors are not that bad, its a bit dark but that was easily fixed and i can get it quite close to what i see on the screen. My monitor is not calibrated..The images were all shot in RAW and converted to DNG...Do i need to re-install Lightroom as i don't think print preview has anything to do with the printer i have attached....

1. in the Print module, clicking on the Print Settings button ...
2. Choose your media type
3. Under Print Quality choose High
4. Under Color Intensity choose Manual. In the subsequent dialogue box choose None.
5. In the Print right hand panel under Color Management choose your print media - PR1 for Photo Paper Pro, SG1 for semi-gloss &c
6. Rendering intent Perceptual.
7. Hit Print and OK.
this resolved my issue!!

Preview and printer skipping pages

I am trying to print some articles from online. The articles should come out as 4 pages long. Instead, it prints pages 1, 2 and then skips to pages 4 (which consists only of the links at the bottom of the website, which are outside of the "frame" that the article is in [hope i'm using the word frame here correctly]). When I try a print preview first, it shows up like that as well. pages 1, 2...then 4.
Anybody know what's going on?

Preview pdf links have black outlines

Hi there, does anyone know how to remove the black borders that appears around pdf links in Preview?
I created the pdf from powerpoint. The black lines around the transparent rectangle links only appear in Preview and not in acrobat for mac or pc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I have run out of ideas.

Enhance Req: ADF BC Assoc and Link editor

Hi JDev team
I'd like to raise the following enhancement requests please for JDev 11g TP.
For both the ADF BC Association and Link editor, to view the Relationship you need to click on the Relationship category. Seems to me 9 times out of 10 when you access these objects you want to see the relationship. I'd suggest the Relationship information needs to be under the General category as part of the default view.
Can you raise an enhancement request for this please.
Also, for the Association editor, to view the properties of the association, you need to click on the Relationship category, Accessors editor button, and then in the Association Properties dialog you see the association properties (eg. Implement Cascade Delete etc). This seems unnecessarily hidden too deeply.
Can you raise an enhancement request to promote these options to the editor rather than in this dialog please.

The 2nd one has already been implemented post-JavaOne Tech Preview. There is a "Behavior" section on the Relationship panel now with those options accessible.
