Preview Browsers

I'm really new to Dreamweaver and am going through one of the
CSS tutorials. Dreamweaver (DW) Help indicates that it's a good
idea to preview stuff in a number of different browsers - but I
only have Internet Explorer 7 in my Program Files. Where do I
find/get other browsers - like Netscape, and Macintosh Safari, etc
?

Why does everything look perfect in preview browsers firefox and IE but not online?

Hi, I have spent a couple months creating a website and checking all the pages on the preview browser and all the pages looked great. I finally put all the files to the server and online and the formatting is messed up on portions of every page. Yet when I check these pages again in the preview browser they look perfect. Please help!

All links to supporting files are incorrectly pointing to your Local Hard Drive and not the Site Folder.

Previewing page in Firefox

I downloaded Firefox 3.6 for Mac this morning and now when I try to Preview the html page in Firefox, the browser goes directly to the "landing page" I've set in my Firefox prefs instead of the Firefox page displaying my "local" file.
Trashed the newly-downloaded Firefox, rebooted, then downloaded Firefox again, installed, rebooted only to have same thing occur. I also use Safari, Opera & Navigator for Preview Browsers and they work fine.
Anyone ever experience this?

This problem hasn't really been solved, because it still exists. Mozilla said that 3.6.2 would fix the issue, but the same problem still exists. So far, the only solution is to continue using 3.5.8, or switch to a different browser.
Mozilla has also said that there is a 3rd party patch for Dreamweaver that will fix this. Follow this link to read the thread:

The problem with that is that it costs $5, and I don't know about any of you, but I'm not going to pay to fix a problem that shouldn't exist in the first place. Adobe needs to buy this patch from that developer and release their own patch for Dreamweaver. Or maybe muscle Mozilla into modifying FireFox.

Can't get my site online - Help! please?

I initially built my site with Yahoo Sitebuilder but I hate
it so I decided I would finally learn how to use Dreamweaver. I'm
figuring it out as I go and now I'm finally done and ready to go
live...just one big problem...I can't get it online! When I go to
manage my site and test it it says it connect successfully blah
blah blah. Then when I go to 'put' my files it says it was "unable
to complete 5 files or folders" and doesn't tell me which ones they
are. So my issue may be with my folders but I don't know.
Also, I can't preview my pages using F12 in Dreamweaver (it
says "Page Load Error") but if I go to the actual html file in my
folder it opens fine in a browser and my links work also to see
other pages.
Anyone?

You would be MUCH better off if you put this quest on hold
and spent your
time and effort learning HTML and CSS. If you know the
underlying
technology, the tool that you are using will be a walk in the
park. Besides
DW will require you to have this knowledge or it will beat

What have you defined in PREFERENCES for your preview
browsers? Do you have
a TESTING server defined? Do you *NEED* a testing server (it
sounds like
you do not). In this case, just set Server Model to NONE in
the definition
pane for testing server.

JS animation not rendering clearly

With help, ported an AS3 animation to JS (animation is for eLearning lesson), but it renders blurry in preview browsers (FF, IE, Chrome on mobile). DW's Live View renders it perfectly.
Must be doing something wrong in the JS (like scaling) which is stopping clear rendering in the browsers. (Live View must be able to compensate for my scripting errors.)
I have beginner skills with scripting.

The original script was in Flash CS6/AS3. Got some help (no longer available) to port the AS3 to JS. The problem, I think from doing online research, is that the JS is using 1X1 pixel rectangles, causing scaling in order to reach the 8X8 rectangle size that is needed by the animation. This is causing blurring and distortion of the animation. I have limited scripting skills. So, I am not sure how to re-write the JS to use 8X8 pixel rectangles instead of 1X1. (Then the canvas size would probably also need to be changed to match the rectangle size changes?)
Can you suggest how to make the script changes so I can fix the script?

When I build a web photo gallery and upload to my server, the web page as displayed by browsers is blank. With preview, insid Bridge, the slideshow works fine.

I have been building web photo galleries with Bridge for a few years and everything worked fine until my latest two builds. Now when I build a gallery and upload the folder to my web server, it's not getting displayed by browsers. When you hit the index file of the gallery, the page is blank with no written errors.
When I use the "preview in browser" feature in Bridge, the slide show works as expected.
I'm creating the gallery and saving to my local hard drive. When that's complete, I ftp the entire folder to the server and then point to the index.htm file. I've been doing this for two years with good results. All of a sudden, I can't get a gallery to display on-line.

I am experiencing the exact same problem; the gallery displays and functions perfectly when viewed locally but not when uploaded to the web server. I am wondering if it is also a Dreamweaver issue as each time I upload I receive an error report e.g. some files did not upload et cetera.

Camera preview not working in browsers

I'm coding an applet to preview and record from browser, the problem is when I put applet tag in the HTML it doesn't' work on all browsers and no warnings or errors thrown! however when I run the applet in Eclipse it does work well!
I have:

Browsers greyed out in Preview in Browser

I'm using DW 8.0.2. I have the following browsers installed:
- IE7
- Firefox 2
- Mozilla 1.7
- Safari 3.0.2
- Opera 9.1
In Preview in Browser (either from the File menu or the tool
bar), all but
Firefox (& the option to edit the list) are greyed out. I
have IE set as
primary, and can preview using that by hitting F12. Safari is
set as
Secondary, and Ctrl-F12 works for that. But the only one I
can actually
click on in the list is Firefox. I can't preview with Mozilla
or Opera at
all.
I'm running Vista Ultimate. They all worked fine on my XP
machine (except
Safari which wasn't installed). Any suggestions?

I checked that on all of them - they are still greyed out.
And like I say,
both IE & Opera work with the shortcut keys - I just
can't click on them (or

Firefox won't open my Dreamweaver files to preview even though I have it designated as one of my browsers in Dreamweaver...help!

Within Dreamweaver, you can specify which browser you would like to preview your files in. I have Firefox as one of my designated browsers, as well as Safari, Opera, etc. So, when I go to preview an edited file, they will not open for preview in Firefox. They will open in all my other browsers...
The best I can get is the default browser window, with no edited website file in it...just default window. Should open right up in the browser...

There is a fix for Dreamweaver, so it works in Firefox 3.6+ versions:

Flash working in preview but not in any browsers

I've created a Flash animation and inserted the SWF file (created in Flash 8) into my Dreamweaver CS2 file. It all works fine in preview (both in Flash and Dreamweaver). But on any of the browsers the public file doesn't show the flash animation.
I have a transparent layer in Dreamweaver over the SWF file so that I could put hotspots which are working.

I've updated AC_RunActiveContent and downloaded a trial FlashCS5 but still no luck.

According to page's source code you are trying to use the AC_RunActiveContent.js file via your local drive. You'll need to place that on the server and link to it properly.

How does one go about previewing the site design in other browsers as one is working / building it?.
ie. Is the Muse Browser the best and only way with out full publishing or uploading the site?

Choosing File-->Preview Page/Site in browser makes the site visible on the default system browser.
So, in order to test the file on different browsers, the default browser of the system can be changed and the file can be tested.

Div box shifted position when previewed on browsers??

Can anyone please advise why one of my div boxes (the third one) in Dreamweaver shifted position when previewed on Firefox and IE? My other two div boxes have no problem when previewed on browsers.

Sure, I can share with other users but I am not sure this solution was the best, but it works for me.   Somehow something about Dreamweaver is very complicated to use and understand- just in my opinion. All I did was to add another div box outside of the 3rd text box which I created as div box (also did it for the 2nd text box since they aligned close to each other). I know it shouldn't be needed since the text box is already a div box itself and my 1st and 2nd text boxes were okay.
