Preview check box

Hi, I'm sure there's a simple way to do this that I just don't know about (somewhat new to AI). When I'm using the "scale" dialog box to scale an object, or "rotate", or the "round corners" function (just to name a few), the "preview" check box is always unchecked as a default. Is there a way to permanently make it checked so that I don't have to constantly check it everytime? It would seem that being checked would be the default instead, but in my version of AI it is unchecked (CS4 on a Mac).
Also, when using something like the "round corners" dialog, even with the preview button checked, if you make a change to the radius measurement, you then have to uncheck and check the preview box again for the change to register, ie. to actually see the accurate/updated preview. This seems like a huge timewaster and it gets rather annoying after a while. Is there a better way to do this, or a way to make the changes show up without having to uncheck/check everytime? Thanks in advance for any insight.

I found this discussion while looking for an answer to the same question for InDesign, which I hadn't found an answer for elsewhere. Since none appeared here either, I gave up on an Adobe solution after filing a feature request on this and tried activating the checkbox using QuicKeys (http://startly.com/, demo available technically for 30 days but I think that's extendable). It didn't work at first, but finally yes. I had to activate Show Advanced Features in the QuicKeys preferences (temporarily, because it makes the entries twice as high), and change On Step Failure in Step Results from Show Dialog to Do Not Nofify. It will be something of a nuisance to get a QK shortcut made for every InDesign dialog with a preview checkbox (assigning each to the same shortcut the dialog has in InDesign), but it will finally be worth it to be rid of the greater and more time-consuming annoyance of having to repeatedly check Preview. This is a satisfactory answer to the question for me, and I hope it will be for others as well.

  • Mebody Keep on getting a message that says write access not granted if i whant to safe my edited images! Please help? Preview check box already unchecked

    please help me with this problem? I keep on getting a message saying write access not granted, so i cant safe my files!

    The drive appears in the sidebar with a tiny lock icon, and when I try to copy a file from my internal HD to the external (top level directory, or drag the items right onto the icon), the following things happen:
    Open the Terminal in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder and enter the following:
    chflags nouchg
    followed by a space; next, drag the disk into the Terminal window and press Enter. The lock should now be gone.
    The fact that my account was named both as owner and group seemed odd, since in Group the access was "read only".
    Recent versions of Mac OS X create a group with the same name whenever you create an account from the Setup Assistant or System Preferences. The Group permissions don't apply in this case.
    I changed the Group access to "read & Write", but it's not "sticking" -- when I close teh details field and reopen it, or close the get info window and reopen, the Group access settings go back to "read only".
    Did you get an error message after doing this?
    Verify/Repair permissions were dimmed for this drive (I assume becuase it doesn't have MacOS X installed on it?)
    That is correct. The Repair Permissions mechanism uses data from the /Library/Receipts/ folder on a disk to function, and this data is only present on disks which have Mac OS X installed.

  • Preview not saving check boxes in PDF forms

    For some reason 10.6's preview will not save check boxes in PDF forms, you can click them but as soon as you save them they disappear.

    I'm having the exact problem. I have a fillable PDF form that has many checkboxes. Saving the pdf (doesn't matter whether it's 'Save', 'Save All', or 'Save As' under the File menu) will clear/reset the checkboxes in the file.
    Anyone know of a workaround for this? Or, is Apple fixing this soon? I really don't want to get Acrobat Pro 9 (well, I don't think it's compatible with Snow Leopard yet anyway)
    If you'd like a sample PDF file to try it out, let me know.
    Thanks.

  • Check box showing double when PDF opened in Preview

    I'm setting up a simple check box functionality on a PDF my company sends out. I noticed the check boxes look strange when the PDF is opened up in Preview on Mac. Not sure about PC as we don't have one here. It appears to look fine in Acrobat but I believe a good portion of our clients will use Preview. What you see in the image below is the result when I make a check box and change the color to blue green. The black check mark over it comes out of nowhere. My temporary work-around is to make the check mark art invisible so just that crappy black line shows up instead, although I hate the way it looks.
    Any help is much appreciated, thanks!

    You should always include a link to the FREE Adobe Reader with advice that best results will be seen using it when you distribute a PDF.
    Of course you cannot control what others will use, but if you expect them to use Preview you need to dumb down the design accordingly.

  • Turkish Character and Check Box "?" Problem in XML Publisher

    In aplication and XML Publisher I must use Turkish Characters e.g. 'ş','ı','ğ','ç','ö' and check boxes. In html preview there is no problem, I can see all of them correctly. Hovewer in PDF preview in XML Publisher and also PDF output in Oracle Application all these Turkish Characters and Check Boxes looks like question mark (?). How can I solve this problem ?
    Thanks for helps....

    Hi Tim,
    Related to Special Italian characters, when I try with "Courier New" font with static data,the XML Preview display those characters.But when those chars come from XML source file,they get vanished.I tried two cases:
    Case1 ) IN EBS,I have attached courbi.ttf(font file) to the template manager(followed as per instructions in Font mapping section in User Guide).
    When I try running the report ,its getting completed with Warning.
    Case 2) I have also modified xdo.cfg ( as per Doc ID:400755.1 www.metalink.oracle.com)-
    In both cases ,I am not acheving the desired results.
    Please let me know where I am going wrong.

  • Make a check box in LiveCycle with a personal character or image as check mark ( info to share...)

    Hello everybody,
    It makes now several weeks i go trough the different forums to find a way to make the check mark of a check box in LiveCycle with a personal color instead of the default black mark, that seems to be the only option available.
    I saw somebody else with that question, but no answer.
    So i found a work around, that make the check box really flexible.
    Here it is:
    REMEMBER that this will work only with forms saved as dynamic PDF.
    Open a new form in Livecycle.
    1) Open Library panel ( Shift+F12) and select Check Box and put it in the page with the dimension and position you like and select it.
    Open the Object panel ( Shift+F7), select field section and under Caption make it blank. Select Binding Section and under name write in ' CheckBox '. for the rest leave all the section values as they are.
    2) In Library select, in the standard section, the icon for making a text object. Put it in the page and size it to your needs and put it on the top of the CheckBox. Select it.
    In the Object Panel, Draw section and under Presence 'Visible'.
    Open the Font panel ( Shift+F4) and under font section, Font : select the Wingdings font and choose the symbol to use as the mark, under Size : the size you need, under Style: font color you like. If the result of the mark is to your feel, set the object to 'invisible'. Leave all other values as they are.
    Open the Hierarchy panel (Shift+F11), right click on the static object and rename it to ' CheckMarkModel ' .
    For information : changing the text object to an image object let's you use an image for the mark in the checkbox.
    3) In Library, select in the standard section the icon for making a Button. Put it in the page and size it to the CheckBox dimension and put it on the top of the text object. Select it. In the Object panel, under Caption : make it blank, under Appearance : select custom in the drop down list an in the dialog box that comes up set the edges to none and the
    background to none. Leave the rest as it is.
    Open the Hierarchy panel (Shift+F11), right click on the Button object and rename it to ' ClickCheckBoxButton ' .
    Now open the Script Editor (Shift+Ctrl+F5), on the left under Show : select in the list the ' Click ' event, under Language : select JavaScript, copy to the window the following script :
    if (CheckMarkOnOff.rawValue == "0")
    CheckMarkOnOff.rawValue = "1";
    CheckMarkModel.presence = "visible";
    else if (CheckMarkOnOff.rawValue == "1")
    CheckMarkModel.presence = "invisible";
    CheckMarkOnOff.rawValue = "0";
    4)Now put in the page an other Check Box, put it on the top of the Button object and select it. In the Object panel, Field section, under Caption : make it blank, under Appearance : none, under Presence : invisible, let the rest as it is. In the Value section, under Type : Read Only, under Default : Off. In the Binding section, under Name : name it CheckMarkOnOff, leave the rest as it is.
    5) So you have now four objects in the page 1. In the Hierarchy panel set each object by dragging them in
    this order :
    CheckBox
    CheckMarkModel
    ClickCheckBoxButton
    CheckMarkOnOff
    In the form select all the objects and group them. If you copy the group as many times you need you automatically will have an other Check Box, ready to work.
    So here you are with an personal Check Box.
    Don't forget to set the preview PDF to dynamic under Menu /File/Form Properties, the in the dialog box that shows up /Default tab and under the XDP Preview format : select in the list an Acrobat Dynamic form.
    REMEMBER that this will work only with forms saved as dynamic PDF.
    If somebody from Adobe could upload the sample file i made, to the forum, so that anybody can download it to his computer, would be appreciated, email me at : [email protected] .
    Regards Mike.

    I also faced this same problem and there is an actual solution but it involves modifying the xml source for the checkbox - however it is a simple modification so if your not familiar with editing the xml source don't worry about that. <br /><br />Click on the checkbox you want to modify and then click on the XML Source tab. LiveCycle will take you to that point in the XML. <br /><br />Now, scroll down until the close of the ui node( </ui> )within the checkbox field and modify the font node to look like the following:<br /><br /></ui>  -- close of UI node<br /><font typeface="Arial"><br />   <fill><br />      <color value="0,0,255"/><br />   </fill><br /></font><br /><br />This produces a checkbox with a blue check mark. <br />You can, of course, make the color any RGB number you want.<br /><br />You can then save that field in your library and reuse it anytime you want and it will always have that color checkmark. <br /><br />Good luck. <br />-Andrew

  • I have a new MacBook Pro with OS10.8.2 and cannot get Contacts to print a list of addresses with pictures showing.  There is a check box selecting "picture" which has been checked - but no picture.  This worked fine on OS10.7.5.  Problem??

    I have a new MacBook Pro with OS10.8.2 and cannot get Contacts to print a list of addresses with pictures showing.  There is a check box selecting "picture" which has been checked - but no picture.  This worked fine on OS10.7.5.  Problem??

    First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
    There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
    If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
    If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
    Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
    Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
    If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
    Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
    Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
    When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
    Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
    Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

  • Using a check box to enable/disable buttons.

    I am just beginning to dive into the world of mobile application development, and encountered the first time I think I need to use a function (<mx:Script... private function) and was wondering how I would go about making it so when a specific check box is selected, a set of corresponding buttons are enabled. When it is unselected, these buttons are then disabled. I'm sure this is a super novice question, so I'm hoping someone out there can help. This is for an iOS mobile app. Thanks!

    Thanks for your response.
    Based on your reply, I've entered this -
    if (this.rawValue == 1){
    Company1.rawValue = Company2.rawValue;
    Contact1.rawValue = Contact2.rawValue;
    Phone1.rawValue = Phone2.rawValue;
    Email1.rawValue = Email2.rawValue;
    Address1-1.rawValue = Address2-1.rawValue;
    Address1-2.rawValue = Address2-2.rawValue;
    Address1-3.rawValue = Address2-3.rawValue;
    City1.rawValue = City2.rawValue;
    ZipCode1.rawValue = ZipCode2.rawValue;
    Country1.rawValue = Country2.rawValue;
    and when I clcik the check box in the Preview PDF pane, nothing happens.
    Do I have to save this as a "reader enabled" file before I can check to see if it works?  Our clients that receive this form will be filling it out using Adobe Reader.
    I'm only focused on the first two columns for now.  I may eventually add the "End User" column down the line, but I just want to get the first part working first.
    Company1 corresponds to the binding value in the "Company" field in the first column (Invoice or Bill To).  Company2 corresponds to the binding value in the "Company" field in the "Ship To (from freight forwarder)" in the second column.  This is the same pattern all the way through.
    In the address fields, the binding values are shown as as follows -
    Address1-1 means column 1, field 1
    Address1-2 means column 1, field 2
    Addrress1-3 means column 1, field 3
    Etc...
    I think I need to change the binding value for each field as I don't think the script like the "dash" in the binding values of the address fields.
    Again, I'm sorry for these are stupid questions, but I am completely uneducated and green when it comes to using scripts.

  • Check box is not printing ...

    hello , i need to insert check box in my smartform
    i got some number related to the pic i selected eg: 678 in the text element.. But it is not outputting that symbol in the printer.

    Hello,
    The symbol has couple of disadvantages:
    1. you will not be able to see the check box in print preview.
    2. If you take OTF output for the PDF conversion, the symbol get distorted.
    So in the Scripts / SSF, I have been using either [ ] [x] or the graphics for empty / checked - check box.
    Hope this helps you.

  • (Smartform)check box display in a table....very urgent

    Hi..
    i inserted check box by going to <b>sap symbols and inserted check box</b> but i am unable to see print preview and also in the printout.
    Can any one tell me how to insert check box in a <u><b>table.</b></u>
    your help will be appreciated.<b></b>

    Hello,
    As discussed earlier in many posts, it is better you load a graphic for Check box ( Checked and Empty ) is Tx SE78. You can create .bmp files for the same in MS paint.
    In a table node in the SSF, every line in the table will be accessed once in a loop. So you create an alternative node to check the condition when your Check box is to be checked or empty ( may be based on some field data in the work area). Then you call the necessary graphic ( Checked check box or a empty check box ). A Graphic node is to be created under the alternative node. Do remember to place the graphic in appropriate Line and Cell in your table by giving proper output options.
    Hope this helps you.
