Preview Crashes when doing a Save As . . . (.pdf)

Anyone have this problem with Leopard . . .
Use Image Capture to scan in an item.
Open the completed scan in Preview.
Try to Save As and select file type .pdf
PREVIEW PROGRAM CRASHES EVERY TIME and the file is NOT saved.
Print to .pdf works fine. But Save As . . . .pdf does not.

It sounds like an item in HD/Library/Contextual Menu Items. Drag the contents of that folder to the desktop and test again. If that sorts it put the items back one at a time to find the culprit..
If that's not it, go to ~(yourHome)/Library/Contextual Menu Items and do the same.
Open "Console" in your Utilities folder. From the Sidebar choose: Log
Files >> CrashReporter >> "~/ Library Logs" >> Preview and paste the contents here for the latest Preview crash and maybe we can figure what's going on.

  • Word 2008 crashes when trying to save as PDF

Ever since upgrading to 10.6, I've been unable to save Word 2008 documents as pdf files from the print dialog. As soon as select "Save as PDF" from the PDF pull down, Word crashes. This doesn't happen in Excel or Powerpoint.
What's interesting is that if I select the Preview button (next to the PDF pull down in the print dialog), it opens the file using either Acrobat or Preview (depending on how I set things up), both of which let me save the file as a PDF.

I also have had a few instances where Save as PDF crashed Safari and Firefox. It doesn't happen on the first attempt, after trying to save a few documents in Safari it consistently crashed while using the Save as PDF, I thought it was a Safari problem so I switched to Firefox it allowed me to save a few a more documents and then it crashed.

  • Photoshop CC crashes when doing a Save As...

Windows 7 PC. Photoshop CC crashes when trying to save a psd file as a jpg file using Save As...

Interesting development: If I load into PS CC an image from LR 5 (Ctrl+E), work with it and try to save it as a jpg file, PS CC crashes. This will happen over and over again. HOWEVER, if I open an image into PS CC via LR 5, work with it, close it as a psd file, then open the image directly from PS CC (File>Open), and then try to save it as a jpg file, everything works fine. From that point on I can save images as jpg files no matter how they got into PS CC (i.e., it works fine until I close down PS CC completely and re-open it later -- in which case I have to do this process all over again). This situation never came up in PS CS6, so it must have something to do with the LR 5/PS CC communication.

  • Preview crashes when reading multi-page scanned PDFs

Does anyone know why Preview and Safari should crash while rendering a multi-page PDF scanned by a Lexmark P150 printer/scanner? It doesn’t happen with single page scans. The same thing happens with DEVONAgent and Skim, but not with PDFPen or PDFClerk, which handle the documents with no problem. It happens when I scan with Lexmark’s own All In One Center app, but also with Image Capture. I haven’t tried any other scanning software.
I can post a Console report if anyone is interested.
    Cheers
    Malcolm

Tried that, still getting the same problem. The 2nd and 3rd pages are still showing up as landscape in the preview, but portrait when printed.

  • FM 10 crashes when saving a DITAmap as PDF

Does anyone have experience in building PDFs using FM10's native support for DITA ?
I think I did generate a PDF succesfully before, but I am beginning to doubt that, now that FM10 keeps crashing when trying to save a DITAmap as PDF. It crashes even before Distiller is called, as the tps file is still 0 bytes after the crash.
Thanks for any insight in what might be causing this. I really don't believe in sending the crash info to Microsoft and hope the problem will be sorted out...
I am running FM10 (as part of the full TCS3) on Windows XP SP3.
    Ciao
    Jang

I have tried several things to find out which component is causing the problems.
Creating a PDF from other structured files works fine - so this should rule out a defective Distiller installation. Creating WebHelp or other targets from the same DITAmap works - so this should rule out the assembly of DITA files into a publication before passing it on to the transformation engine.
I will try to install TCS3 on a Windows 7 (virtual) PC next and see if it does work there. Who knows, Windows XP might have a couple of bugs left after SP3 was installed...
If anyone has the right answer to solve my problem I would be eternally grateful. My presentation should be finished in 1 week from now.
    Ciao

  • When using the "Save as PDF" button

When using the "Save as PDF" button/function on the "View Responses" page for a selected response will the resulting file be savable locally and printable on 8.5x11" paper?
Also its Help bubble says that is savable as a PDF form. Does it really mean as a PDF file? Because saving it as a form appears to be a different option according to one pricing structure.

When you use the Save as PDF a pdf file if the form is created and saved to your local machine.  When you save as PDF you have the option of having the resulting pdf file have a submit button or not have the button.  There is also a feature where you can export the form to a template format called FCDT.

  • Gallery app crashes when trying to save changes

After cropping a photo in the gallery app, it crashes when trying to save the changes made to the photo. It does not happen when saving other changes.

It's an Alcatel One Touch Fire on 1.0.1. But interestingly enough the problem is no longer occurring. I'm still not sure about what caused it. So... I suppose I can mark my question as answered. Thanks for replying.

  • Logic crashes when trying to save/quit or open in 10.6.8

Logic crashes when trying to save/quit or open in 10.6.8 on Logic 9.1.4
Done everything like repair permissions etc.
Reinstalled both Logic and OS 10.6 (then updated to 10.6.8)
    Still doing it.
    Any advice guys?

    OK,
I have installed logic 9.1.5 from the apple site and run that, still same problem.. so i have finally managed to get my hands on the logic 9 disc.. it says on the apple site to remove logic 9 from your mac, to simply drag the logic app to trash and reinstall. i did this with 10.6.0 installed and run it and still error. I then combo updated to .4 .6 and to .7 without updating logic still error.. Then i have combo updated to 10.6.8 still error.. finally i installed the 9.1.5 update direct from the site on 10.6.8 and that hasnt worked either..
My question is, even though on the apple site it says to drop the app to the bin and reinstall, does this remove all necessary files? or do i have to do it manually and if so can someone tell me exactly what needs to go,before i try a proper reinstall.
    Thanks
    Brad

  • ITunes crashes when doing a power search. I get a Microsoft Visual C   Runtime Library Error message: Program C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes\iTunes.exe R6025.  Pure virtual functional call.  If I select ok, Windows 7 pops up with iTunes has stopped working

iTunes crashes when doing a power search. I get a Microsoft Visual C   Runtime Library Error message: Program C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes\iTunes.exe R6025.  Pure virtual functional call.  If I select ok, Windows 7 pops up with iTunes has stopped working and then it shuts iTunes down.  Anyone else every have this issue.  Any ideas on a fix?
    Thanks,

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Use Artboards disabled when trying to save as PDF in Illustrator CC

Use Artboards disabled when trying to save as PDF in Illustrator CC

Then there's no reason to "Use Artboards". If you had multiple artboards in the file, then you could choose among them for the output but with a single artboard, only one will be output.

  • Preview crashes when I try to print

Preview crashes when I try to print.  Problem existed with Lion and continues with mountain lion.  Says there is an error from EF 11895 (FF) plug-in.  What is that?

    surfpriest wrote:

It is the Fiery Features plugin. So this indicates that you are printing to a device that is using an EFI (Fiery) print controller. EFI have very recently released drivers for 10.8 support. The new driver can be downloaded directly from them, although you will have to register to see the downloads. Or you could check with the maker of the printer/copier the Fiery is connected to as they may have the latest drivers also.
