Preview Data in EAS Console

Hi All,
After i login to the EAS Console and right click on Database and do "Preview Data" i get the below error
*"Cannot connect to OLAP service.Cannot connect to Essbase Server <Server name>.timed out waiting to connect to the Essbase Agent/TCP IP"* .
This msg is occuring after the server migration happend. Can any one help me on this.
Sashidhar

Hi Sashidhar,
Have you by any chance changed the default admin password after the server migration?
If yes, refer to ID 1307681.1 in My Oracle Support. There are steps to resolve this issue. It might not be exactly the same issue, but the error message seemed similar.
Cheers,
Mehmet

  • Previewing Data in EAS Console on client machine throws an error.

When I preview data in EAS console(version 11.1.1.4) on a client workstation I get a "Cannot sign on to domain. Error initializing the ORB.java.io.FileNotFoundException: domain.db (Access is denied)" error. Now if I Use the URL for Admin Console on the same client machine am able to preview the data fine. Also when I preview data on the client installed on the server am able to preview data fine. Just that when I use the Admin console client installed on a workstation I get that error. Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Ted.

Ok I am using 11.1.1.4 EAS console. When I kick off the EAS console installed on the client machine I have observed the javaw.exe process which kicks off. And when I right click and do "open file location" on it it takes me to the E:\Hyperion\common\JRE\Sun\1.5.0\bin\javaw.exe which tells me it is using the java version which came with the product. But I still am having issues like expanding outlines(not issues, I just cant expand the outline dimensions to view members) and previewing data. On the other hand when I come through the URL the javaw.exe which kicks off is in the folder "C:\Program Files\JavaSoft\jre\1.6.0_11\bin\javaw.exe" which tells me it is using the java installed on the client workstation. And this 1.6 version one works just fine without any issues whatsoever. So in my case it is the supported version which is not working and the not supported one works without any issues. Please suggest guys, this is driving me nuts and I have no idea why our developers donot want to use the URL and want to use only the console installed on their machines. Even with a workaround available there should be a reason as to why it is happening and why it is not working.
    Thanks,
    Ted.

  • Preview Data in EAS across different essbase Servers

    Hello All,
We are on 11.1.2.3 of EPM. In our Prod EAS I have Signed in using my AD user ID and added the two(one prod, one dev) essbase servers to the list of essbase servers. I was able to successfully add the two essbase servers. Now when I preview data on cube in dev it gives me the error "Cannot connect to olap service. Cannot connect to Essbase Server. Error: Essbase Error(1051293): Login fails due to invalid login credentials". This cannot be true because I would not be able to expand the essbase servers list and drill down to the database in order to preview it if the credentials were wrong. Also I am able to see the outlines and Calc scripts just fine. I am able to preview data on the prod cube just fine.
Now, The same happens when I try to preview data in prod essbase cube when coming from Dev EAS. Which means am able to preview data only on dev essbase server cubes when coming from dev EAS and when I try to preview data on a prod cube when coming from Dev EAS i get the same invalid login credentials error.
Could someone please help me understand if this is a bug or if this is how they intended it to work? Because we just upgraded from 11.1.1.4 and we were able to preview data across any essbase server no matter which EAS service we used.
No SSL or Single Sign-on were used. Just active directory credentials. It happens only with an AD ID and not with a native directory ID. Please suggest on how this can be fixed.
    Thanks,
    Ted.

I logged this with Oracle and the following is their response copy/pasted
The issue which you have reported in this SR is a desired behavior. This behavior has been seen in latest versions only 11.1.2.x.
In earlier version we can preview the data of any Essbase server added to any eas console.
But form 11.1.2.x environment this behaviour has been changed.
We did checked with development team on this earlier, and according to development team its a behavior by design.
As dev environment and Prod environment have different registries , the preview data would work if Dev Essbase server added to Dev EAS only. like same holds good for prod or test environments.
As same issue has been reported earlier , we form support has raised a bug with development team after reproducing the issue .
But development team did not accept this as bug as this behavior was by design .
So later we changed this bug to a enchantment request with development team to change this behavior.
Bug 14622693 - PREVIEW DATA ON REMOTE ESSBASE HOST FAIL WHEN CONNECTED FROM EAS
If this enhancement requested gets approved by development team ,Then it would be incorporated in future release.
    Thanks,
    Ted.

  • Error when i trying to Preview Data in some database (Essbase 11.1.2.2)

I made Rapid Deployment of essbase as described in this article(but i chose Oracle Database 11g EE)

There were no errors in installation and Diagnostics. I started EAS, connected to essbase server, saw all default applications, but when i was trying to preview data it was an error:
    Cannot Connect to Essbase Server.
    Error:(1042003): Network Error [11001]:

    What is it?

I havent fount the describtion of this error...
    Thanx for helping

    Hi Sri,
Please look into the below forum.. Hope it might help you...

    Ref: http://www.network54.com/Forum/58296/thread/1185858760/Unable+to+Load+Database
The best solution I have found so far is to stop the application and delete or rename all .ind, .pag, .esm and .tct files for the troubled database and restart the application.
It will create these files from scratch and you can load your data.
Note: Please take the necessary backup before trying..

  • What is the "admin" user in EAS Console?

I am still relatively new to Planning and Essbase.   I am trying to figure out the relevance of "admin" user in the Essbase Administration Console.  My colleague and I have seen several instances of this admin user in EAS console but it doesn't appear to represent a "live" user.  We have also seen references to "admin@native directory" in the Essbase and EssbaseODL logs.  In the last couple of days, we were unable to run a script that automatically backs up a database because this admin user was performing a spreadsheet operation. We were able to successfully force the admin account off via the console but we know for a fact that no one else is logged in.
Below are excerpts from the Essbase log.  Please see the text in red.
Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated.

Admin user is a administrator user or a super user in essbase .Admin user has full permission to access the entire system  which includes all users and groups.Admin user has the rights to create users Perform dataloads, write and execute calculations, delete users
In your log i can see admin user was active and doing some operations. EPM11hypplan user has forced admin user logout of server.I guess you have set up EPM11hypplan user which has same privilege of admin user to run process. Also check if any particular job process is run via admin id .

  • EAS Console 10060 Error in 11.1.2.2

    Hi Forum!
I have successfully installed the 11.1.2.2 epm suite today. I installed the EAS console from the seperate installer and can open EAS without issue. However, when adding an Essbase Server, I am getting the message "Network Error [10060]: Failed To Connect To [<instance>:1423]
    Can anyone advise please?
    Many thanks!

    Hi Paul,
Are you definitely sure essbase is running without any issues, check the essbase.log and also test logging in directly to essbase using Maxl

  • Error 404 while trying to access eas console

We are getting error 404 all of a sudden when trying to access eas console. We have checked to make sure that all the services are up and running, and the port(10080) is up and running.
We had a similar error with workspace a while back, and we had to modify port numbers on the mod_wl_ohs.conf file.
But we find that the port numbers are unchanged this time in the conf file.
Is there any other port we can use for eas console? http://<servername>:10080/easconsole/console.html
All other services that sit on the same server work fine.(workspace, APS etc)
Has anybody seen this kind of problem before?
    Thanks.

If you are using 11.1.2 search for 404 in the EPM readme at: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/epm_1112000_readme.pdf
What happens if if the install user logs into the machine and then out temp files in use by the application are removed; out of the box the user temp variables are used during deployment; there is a work-around to turn off terminal service feature to delete files on exist.
In addition to confirming the service is up and running and the port answers you should review the syserror and sysout files which for 11.1.1.X are located in <HYPERION_INSTALL_DRIVE>\Hyperion\logs\services and in 11.1.2.X are located in <ORACLE_INSTALL_DRIVE>\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\epmsystem1\diagnostics\logs\services

  • Cannot add a New Essbase server into the EAS Console

    Hi can someone assist me...........
I have installed Essbase on a new / additional server (that all went rather well, its not hard just pressing NEXT, NEXT, NEXT).
I then used a essadmin account to configure, i have to say its not the same as the other essbase server (so i am wondering if this was the start of my problems)!!. I did not use the same essadmin as the password is unknown its not known and the orginal installation was not recorded. I do however know and used the admin account for the shared services.
I then logged into EAS Console (single instance of the EAS, with a plan to add 3 new essbase servers to this console over the next couple of days.) i added the new essbase server, then externalised and all was happy with the world. SUCCESS :-)
I closed EAS, and went back in and thats where the fun started, it then stated that it could not connect and i recieved the invalid login message in essbase. I have read some forums and followed the advise of going into Shared Services and manually removing the new essbase server registry under projects, cleared down and replaced the essbase.sec file etc etc to the originals and stop/started the services.
So can anyone help on what my next steps should be?, I don't want to run off and re-register again via the console for shared services if i need to use the original essadmin password in my configuration. Any help will be gratefully recieved.

It is just an executable and you should only have to execute it and the installer should open.
Have you tried on a different machine or download again, right click the exe and install as administrator

  • EAS Console 11.1.1.3 (local install) on Windows 7 64 bit?

    hi all!
just wanted to quickly double check if there is a chance to get EAS Console 11.1.1.3 installed on a Windows 7 64 bit client?
Oracle Support says it does not - is a known issue (although platform matrix for 11.1.1.3 shows Windows 7 as fully supported)...
    should be fixed in 11.1.1.4!
has anybody any information on existing fixes for this issue or an idea when 11.1.1.4 will be GA?
    many thanks
    Michael

    Have you read this?
    http://timtows-hyperion-blog.blogspot.com/2008/09/essbase-1111-installation-tutorial.html
Tim's been doing it for donkey's years.
The trick to installing it I've found is getting the ARBORPATH and ESSBASEPATH correctly set in the login profile. See Tim's post (3rd one) on how to set the variables. The approach he does is to set it within a batch file so that its scope isn't universal -- kind of a pain for launching Excel (yeah, I know EAS, not Excel, but Excel and the add-in are surely coming) but clean:

  • Unable to expand Essbase server in EAS console

    Hi All,
I have recently installed and configured Oracle Hyperion EPM Essbase 11.1.2.2 in a distributed virtual environment (One Foundation/WLServer VM, One Essbase VM, One Oracle11g DB VM). Host OS: MS Win server 2008 x64 (SP1).
I am using Native Directory for authentication.

I am able to log into Essbase server via MaxL shell (essmsh.exe).I have checked out all the logs on Essbase server, they are fine. The Hyperion Shared Services console is working fine as well.
I have tried to increase the Maximum message size & POST timeout to maximum in WLServer. I have also removed firewall from all the ports of the VMs. But nothing seems to work.
I went through other such cases of this error on OTN, John Goodwin's blog and internet but I could not find a conclusive solution anywhere.
Can some one please help me figure out where the problem might be? Point me to some logs?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ishan

The error "<Internal error: java.net.SocketException: socket write error: Connection aborted by peer...." can be ignored as it is common message.
It might be worth checking out the EAS patches because I think some of them address problems with EAS crashing, also if you are using the web console make sure a supported java version is being used.
    Cheers

  • Why do i keep getting "image is missing preview data" when trying to move files from bridge to PS ??

I am not able to move multiple files to PS...regardless whether I am doing HDR or panorama.....get this "image is missing preview data" with the first file number of the series of files.
    #missingpreviewdata

You don't "move" anything from Bridge "into" Photoshop.  You use Bridge to call on Photoshop to come and open the file(s), and Bridge simply hands the files over to Photoshop.
The problem lies in how the files are being processed and saved.
No one can help you until you provide complete and sensible details.
    BOILERPLATE TEXT:
Note that this is boilerplate text.
If you give complete and detailed information about your setup and the issue at hand,
such as your platform (Mac or Win),
exact versions of your OS, of Photoshop (not just "CS6", but something like CS6v.13.0.6) and of Bridge,
your settings in Photoshop > Preference > Performance
the type of file you were working on,
machine specs, such as total installed RAM, scratch file HDs, total available HD space, video card specs, including total VRAM installed,
what troubleshooting steps you have taken so far,
    what error message(s) you receive,
if having issues opening raw files also the exact camera make and model that generated them,
if you're having printing issues, indicate the exact make and model of your printer, paper size, image dimensions in pixels (so many pixels wide by so many pixels high). if going through a RIP, specify that too.
    etc.,
someone may be able to help you (not necessarily this poster, who is not a Windows user).
a screen shot of your settings or of the image could be very helpful too.

  • EAS console Not coming up in EPM 11.1.2.1

    Hi,
I installed EPM 11.1.2.1 on Windows 2008 R2 server. Everything was working fine until we installed Oracle Endeca on it.
Now we don't know what happened but after restarting the machine my EAS console is not coming up and gives me the below error:
Could not find the main class: com.essbase.eas.console.EasConsole.
    Now,
    1. We dont know if Essbase(EPM11.1.2.1) and Endeca can run or is supported to run on one machine. If anyone has any idea kindly let me know. 2. EAS console does not come up
    3. Config Utility console also does Not come up
    4. Essbase server is up and running fine - also Smart view can connect to essbase properly.
    kindly help/advise. Thanks.

    Hi Avishek,
Can you launch EAS Console via web (http://<eas_server>:10080/easconsole/console.html) and login successfully? If yes, then the problem is with the installed JRE version.
As per the Support Matrix at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-foundation/hyperion-supported-platforms-085957.html, the supported version of JAVA is JRE 1.6.0_22+
    Hope it helps...

  • Unable to see my applications in the EAS console

    Hello! :)
I am stuck with not being able to see any of my applications in EAS Console. I created one EPMA and one classic application and I created Essbase cubes for both of them. I have also connected successfully to my Essbase server in the EAS Console. However when I click the + sign near the Applications node under my Essbase server which is under Essbase Servers node in the Enterprise View of the EAS Console, that + sign simply disappears and no applications appear. I would be very grateful for any hints on what is wrong in my situation! Many thanks in advance!

    Hello, John!
I am very glad to hear from you! :) Thanks so much!
I am on version 11.1.1.3. By creating Essbase cubes I mean having gone to Administration>Manage Database, checking Refresh Database Options>Database and clicking Create in both of my applications.
I have looked in hyperionhome\products\essbaseServer\app\ on my server machine and I saw both folders named after my applications. When I expand Essbase Server, I get the message in the status pane below that Connect is succeeded. But...! Your reply prompted me to try to log into the EAS Console and expand the Essbase Server under admin and admin sees all the applications! Now I wonder what might be wrong with my user's permissions or roles because I had granted him all administrative roles in HSS!
