Preview does not recognize long links properly

When I create a document in Word, and save it as a PDF, any long links (more than a line) do NOT open in the PDF file in Preview, but work just fine in Adobe Reader. These links are created using Insert/Hyperlink in Word. Any ideas about how to get Preview to recognize the entire link? The particular link I am having problems with this time is:

You do realize that there is a space between "convention" and "-rights", yes? That's probably what's giving Preview fits. Is the space supposed to be there? When I click on your link, the webpage does not have a space in the URL.

Apple Preview does not recognize jpeg export from lightroom 4.1

When i open the pictures in DPP I can see them fine?
Here is the message I get:
"The file “Edit-739820120223Canon EOS 7D.jpg” could not be opened.
It may be damaged or use a file format that Preview doesn’t recognize."

I was having the same problem! I downloaded a free file converter called Graphic Converter through CNET. It worked perfectly and you can convert one JPG file or a batch. I'm not sure what the issue is but this is definitely the easiest solution. I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion. I think it has something to do with the upgrade and reading JPG files that may be formatted differently. What I don't understand is why Mountain Lion cant read the files. Nonetheless, this worked perfectly for me.

I have an ibook G4 using iphoto5. Some photos in my library cannot be opened. It hasn't always been this way. I have tried to click and drag to a folder in finder and when i do i get an error !Coundn't open the file. It may be corrupt or a file format that Preview doesn't recognize. Can anyone help in solving this problem?

The only solution to corrupted files is to restore from your back up.

Nokia Lumia 1320 does not recognize media files properly

I have the following problem with my Nokia Lumia 1320:
media files (either music or video) are not recognized properly and therefore seen in "other" section of Storage.
There has been a discussion here a while ago here:

But my problem is in fact that media files are not recognized even on the phone itself which is very surprising.
I have tried several ways to copy the files over:
- Win Explorer on Win XP
- Win Explorer on Win 8
- special app on Win 8
with the same result.
Moreover, sometimes the files are not read by the official Music app with the following odd errors:
- 80070002
- 80070003
Even more problems occur with the SD Card:
some files fail to be transferred there and disappear after the phone restart. I have tried the ways above to copy these files with no luck.
I have also tried both hard and soft phone reset, formatted SD Card via phone and PCs.
The problems described still persist.
Does anyone have ideas/ways to fix those problems?
The phone is really nice but it's pretty annoying to meet these problems.
Interestingly, my previous WPs (HTC 7 Trophy and HTC 8X) didn't have a half of the problems described above. Bad luck...

Cannot open jpg files in Preview? Error message "may be damaged or use a file format that preview does not recognize".

For some reason I cannot open jpg files from a co-worker who previosuly sent files without any problems. I just bought a MacBook Air with OS X Lion & Preview won't open the files. She sent the same files to another co-worker who opened without any issues? Help! Anyone have any suggestions after having the same or similar problem?

I don't have an answer as to why Preview doesn't want to cooperate, but if you only need to view the jpeg's and do nothing else to them, you can use two FREE applications that come already pre-installed on your Mac... Those are iPhoto and Safari. Just drag and drop over the application icon.
You can also find several FREE photo viewers in the APP STORE.

Pages does not recognize 09 documents properly

Hello Apple,
please update the new version of Pages so that I can open all my documents of the last 4 years without making them unreadable!
I always used the same template for every document. On the screenshot you can see what happens, if I open the template (original Papers 09) or open a Pages 09 document.
Every document that gets converted is unreadable!

Hopefully, as they add features to Pages 5 it will be able to open these files correctly. But, don't hold your breath. Continue to use Pages 4.3 to get work done. Leave feedback for the Pages team using the link in the Pages menu and review & rate the new versions in the Mac App Store.

Skype does not recognize the .moe TLD

As the title indicates, Skype does not recognize any link with a .moe TLD. They are sent as plain text and any recepient then has to manually copy and paste the URL. This as you imagine become quite a hassle.
Was wondering if the .moe TLD is added to the list of proper URLs in the coming Skype updates. And if so, is there an ETA on the next Skype update that will have proper support.
Seems odd Skype is the only program I've used that doesn't automatically recognize all web links. They even are linked in a standard format: http://webname.moe

Not sure, I'm not a coder, but would love to see this feature. As I said in my main post, literally every other application I have used but Skype can recognize any links I use, even all those obscure TLDs / gTLDs. I'm pretty sure the Skype devs are smart enough to figure it out

Is there an issue with Safari in Iphones and Ipads where it does not recognize option disabled="disabled" tag properly?

I have run into a peculiar problem with the Safari browser on mobile platforms (IPad, IPod, IPhone) which I hope I can find a solution for in this community.

On this particular product, the product variants are supposed to work in such a way where:
If you select the value "1/8" from the "Choose Ribbon Width" field
THEN
The only options active and available to choose from in the "Choose Roll Size" field should be: 500 Yds, 20 Yds & Sample Swatch
Now, if we browse to the above link in Safari using a desktop or a laptop, there are no problems at all, but if we browse to the above link using an IPhone or an Ipad, then we have a problem where all the options are available regardless of the values chosen, basically the above functonality does not work.
I was told that there an issue with Safari in Iphones and Ipads where it does not recognize option disabled="disabled" tag properly, is this true? Can anyone advise me if there is a solution to this problem? I would sincerely apperciate it.

Since upgrading to iOS8 iTunes no longer recognizes my iPhone5 when I connect to SYNC or BACKUP my iPhone5. Thus, these features are no longer available. When I click on the DEVICES tab, the window is dim, and will therefore not allow me to SYNC or BACKUP my iPhone5 on my iMac. I use iTune 11.4 and iOS8.

After the first install of iOS8 my iPhone5 locked up with a picture of a cord connected to a device linking to iTunes. After taking my iPhone5 to the Apple Store, an Expert was able to get my phone operational again. However, when I returned home I found I no longer had options in iTunes to SYNC or BACKUP my iPhone5. I suspect that ITunes does not recognize my IPhone any longer. For the past 1.5 years I have no problems updating or syncing my iPhone…it was only after I upgraded to iOS8 last week.

You shouldn't be running the "preview" anymore. Microsoft released the full 8.1 update last Friday (10/18).
The "preview" is a beta and should NOT be relied on for any further use. Microsoft explained this in their "preview" downloads.

I’ve tried two different Apple cables.
I’ve tried different USB ports on the computer.
I have rebooted both the Mac and the iPod.
I’ve wiggled the cables and checked for dust in the connectors.
The iPod charges using this same cable connected to wall wart. That’s a good sign.
Both the Mac and iPod seem to work fine separate from each other. They just won’t talk anymore.

iPod Touch 32GB, version 3.1.3 (7E18), model PB533LL

I found this possible solution on another support thread, so I tried it.
turn off iPod
hold Sleep and Home buttons to start it.
When Apple appears, let go of Sleep button, but keep holding Home button.
When screen goes blank, let go of Home button.
Connect cable and check iTunes to see if it has conencted.
This did not work for me.
I then turned off the iPod, restarted the Mac, and restarted the iPod normally.
I connected them with the cable, and it works like normal. :-)

I had the same issue with the Galaxy S4 trying to see what the hype was about and was my first and last android phone. With that being said unfortunately it is a hit or miss with the Mac recognizing an android device or not. It worked perfectly fine the first time around and then it stopped working for no apparent reason. Through trial and error nothing I did solved the issue. I did however plug it in my Mac and left it connected for about 30-40 min to charge for a bit and all of the sudden it recognizes the phone. So I just launched Android File Transfer and everything else became fluid after that. I have no explanation as to why it happened that way, but what I gathered from this is maybe you just have to let it sit for a minute while plugged in before the Mac recognizes it, after all they are opposing software. On a side note this is why I will always be an apple user, Iphones and the like never have this problem

When I try to click on a download link for a .pdf file Firefox does not recognize the MIME type and tries to download the file as "index.php"

When visiting a site I frequent I tried to download a linked .pdf file. Previously I've used Firefox 7.0.1 to download the link with no problem. Using Firefox 8 however I the browser does not recognize the .pdf link's mime type. Instead of recognizing the download link as a .pdf file Firefox 8 tries to download it as "index.php". Firefox 8 does this with .doc files and .txt files as well. When I downgrade to 7.0.1 again the problem disappears.

I'd try starting Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If you don't have the issue while all of your add-ons, extensions, and themes are disabled, you can try adding them back in one by one until you find the culprit.
