Preview, export, and upload web photo galleries

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/lightroom/using/WSA20E5E2B-1F61-4c59-A3F4-13C1AEF9EF56.html

In the web photo gallery, exporting seems to automatically create 4 sizes of images: large, medium, small and thumb. Because of copyright and bandwidth concerns, I start out with small images anyway. What Lighroom does, however, is to still create images for each, small, medium and large to be exactly the same size, and then the thumbnail. Ie I end up with bloating website which is 3 times as large as what it should be. Multiply the space wasted by thousands of photos, and you'll soon see that it is extremely inefficient way of creating a web presence. Then I have to FTP the mass to a remote server. Crazy. Yet, I cannot find an option anywhere (incl the help text) to turn off the bloatware. Adobe. How do I create only one size of image during export, namely original size, plus a thumbnail? That is all I need.

  • LR5 - when exporting and uploading to FB photos look very bad

    I just upgraded from LR3 to LR5 - when I export and upload to Facebook - the photos look horrible. Very unclear. Looks like they got compressed in a strange way. I am doing everything the same way I did it in LR3 but getting differnet results. Any help would be very appreciated.

    I am using LR5. So does that mean everyone using LR5 will have this problem.
    When I export to my desk top they look fine. But when I send them throught eamil or through FB they get all weird looking. I am so confused.

  • Can I write photo captions in Elements 12 and upload the Photo to Revel, keeping the same Caption?

    Can I write photo captions in Elements 12 and upload the Photo to Revel, keeping the same Caption?

    Yes. Even if you edit Captions post uploading to Revel from Elements Organizer, the updated caption syncs to Revel.

  • Problem Uploading Web Photo Gallery in DW

    I'm a newbie at this, so please bare with me. I've been at this same problem for 3 days & I'm finally breaking down & asking for help. I want to be as helpful as possible here, so I'm just going to give as much info as I can, so I'm sorry in advance if some of it doesn't matter.
    I created my web photo gallery through PS & am putting them into DW with the iFrame. My connection works just fine when I preview it, as I can jump from page to page, seeing all of my galleries. I'm been able to put my pages up, but the galleries do not come up. I keep getting the error 404 message up in all of my frames.
    I have all of my galleries in one file, with each specific gallery in a sub-folder with all of the attachment files.
    I've tried every combination I can think of when it comes to my local root folder and default images folder to see if I just had the wrong folder selected. I'm more so thinking it would have to be the DIF if it were anything like this, because the LRF has to be the main folder. I've tried to C&P the gallery file in several different folders, use it as my DIF, put it, & see if it works, & it doesn't. I tried to upload the galleries themselves through my web server (host monster) and also cyberduck.
    I've read everything I could find, & I read that I needed to link up the index.html to the page I'm building. But I assumed I already did that, other wise I wouldn't be able to preview it right? If I still need to do this, where should I go into specifically to do this?
    I also read I should link up the files from the navigation system in DW. Where would I go about doing this?
    As you can see, I'm pretty lost.

    http://www.rickyhavlik.com/galleries/grant%20park/index.htm
    That page is not on the server - did you upload it?  By the way, it's not a good idea to use spaces in your file/pathnames for the web.
    The page is just not where you have told the browser to look for it here -
    <iframe height="600" width="600" marginheight="250" marginwidth="250" src="galleries/grant park/index.htm"</iframe>

  • Help! Multiple Bridge Web Photo Galleries in my site

    RunI am in need of some help and I posted this in Bridge and didn't get an answer.
    I have a website and I used bridge to make my photo galleries. I downloaded the photo galleries bridge made into two different temporary folders outside of dreamweaver and then changed the name from index.html to "deck.html" (photos of a deck we built) and "of.html" (photos of an outdoor fireplace we built). Everything worked fine. I copied the deck.html file and the resources folder into my site folder and then linked a thumbnail of the deck to the deck.html file. Everything worked fine and the gallery loaded.
    Now, I know that I can't put the resources folder into my site of the of.html gallery due to the same name so I changed it to resources2. I then put the of.html and resources2 folder into my site folder. I then checked the code to find where it was pointing to the resources folder to change it to resources2. This is what i did:
    changed <script src=resources... to <script src=resources2...
    I then linked a thumbnail of the outdoor fireplace to the of.html, but the deck.html gallery loaded
    I am assuming that I am not changing the code correctly to link to the group.xml file which contains the images to load and the other files in my resources2 folder. When the link is clicked it loads the original deck.html gallery and I thought that somewhere in the AC_RunActiveContent.js it must be linking to the resource folder and not the resouces2 folder. I have searched through all the files in the resources2 folder and the of.html and I can't find where to change the code.
    Please, any help would be appreciated. Also, if there is some other way to do this let me know.

    Maybe I can explain this better....
    the group.xml file has the information for what images to load. When previewing the outdoor fireplace web gallery "of.html" it loads the "deck.html" web gallery. I believe this is because in one of the files it is requesting the info from the group.xml file from the resourses folder. I need to find where the code is that directs it to the group.xml and change it to group2.xml and rename that group.xml file for "of.html" to group2.xml in the resourses2 folder.

  • Increasing photo quality in Web Photo Galleries

    I create Photo Galleries (Create->Photo Galleries) and FTP them to an ISP for family to view. However the quality of the photos is low(ish). I have tried every Type and Style I can find in Elements. How do I increase the size (and therefore quality) of the photos in Photo Galleries to (say)100K per photo. If this isn't possible, what are the alternatives? Thanks!

    Robin,
    There are different layouts of galleries (PSE5), which display images of
    different pixel dimensions and file size.
    For instance, in my case, the first gallery when choosing a template,
    "Standard (Small Thumbnails): A paginated grid of small thumbnails on the
    left and a preview image on the right" displays images in the 60 - 70 KB
    range, at a size of 480x320 px. Another gallery, "Slideshow: Slideshow-only
    gallery that scales to fit the browser window" uses larger images, 636x424
    px at right around 100 KB.
    The quality of these two image sizes is probably similar, the file size
    difference is due to variation of the pixel dimensions.
    When using the second gallery above, or another one that uses the large file
    size, you can actually go in and exchange the relatively low quality images
    with a set of the same images that you would have manually sized and saved
    at a better quality. I just ran a test and substituted the 100 KB images
    with a set of 180 - 200 KB pictures at 800x533 px. They have to have the
    exact same file names as the original set. They are located in:
    C: ...\Untitled_Gallery\resources\media\08slideshow\large
    This sounds like a tedious procedure, but if you have edited a set of
    images, you can run the gallery creation with that set and turn around and
    replace the files.

  • Web Photo Galleries

    Hi
    I normally use the big guy, Photoshop, but I bought elements 9 because I thought it would have that automated web photo gallery from previous versions. That is that automated feature that makes a web site of a folder of pictures. I can't seem to find it.
    How do I do that?
    Thanks
    Jon

    You can select a group of photos in the organizer and start there, or you can open all the files in the editor and right click the project bin to save them as an album if you don't use organizer, then go on from there.
    I don't know what you mean by "it didn't function". To run the gallery on your local computer, go into the finished smart album folder and double click the index.html file.
    Many of these galleries are interactive: they don't do anything till you do something, like turn the pages of the book, click on a photo in the pile to pick it up and look at it, etc.

  • Export and Upload problems You Tube

    Hello,
    I started using Final Cut Pro X recently and, after finishing some projects I decided to upload one of them on You Tube. The first time go so fine but there were some problems in the finally movie on youtube, like sounds and some white square.
    Then I fixed the problem into the timeline and i tried to upload it again but there was another problem. I type the passworld, the name and the description but the button "Next" is always gray.
    I think is because of I've already published it on you tube but it's weird that the Aplication doesn't let me export it again. The problem is only with youtube, in fact if i try to export as a .mov or on other social networks it goes well.
    Please Some one help me!

    Yes, if I export the file and upload it traditionally; it works but it's too slow: the upload started 3h ago and reached just the 29%!!!! On the other hand if I upload it by the in-app exporter in FCPX it goes faster!
    I can't wait 24h to upload a foolish movie of 3minutes !
    (I tried even to duplicate the project and share but it doesn't work)
    However, thanks for help

  • Bring Back the HTML Web Photo Galleries to CS4

    These were useful, easy to customize templates with more creative freedom. Much more so than what the flash templates provide. Using the web photo gallery control panel through Bridge was more efficient than through Photoshop since you could select files rather than entire folders. Since it's available as a "legacy" plugin included with the Goodies for Photoshop, how about a plugin script to put it back where it was in Bridge? (Bridge>Tools>Photoshop>Web Photo Gallery)
    Please?

    Sorry,
    I don't know how to post a new massage.
    I'm sorry to used it to post my question.
    My question is, how I can use bridge cs4 to post a web gallery to my server,
    all the time is tell me I can't do it.
    or if i want to open it in dreamweaver cs4 is tell me I need flash cs4 but, I have flash cs4 install
    any help I will appreciated it.
    I'm sorry again to post it here.
    Thank You
    Blas

  • Photos not retaining edits after exporting and uploading to Pinterest.  Why?

    After I export my edited photos from Lightroom the edits will not show up on the photos when uploaded to certain websites...ie Pinterest, NatGeo photo sites. My photos look horrific,colors are muted and gross.  What's wrong???  They look fine on my laptop photo viewer and they look great in Lightroom.   They look fine on my wordpress blog too.  So frustrating.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
    Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
    Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Create summary file as part of export and send with photos via ftp?

    I've looked this forum quite a bit tonight, but I'm under a tight deadline, so I'm going ahead and posting.  Excuse me if I'm asking something that is answered elsewhere in the forum.
    I need to add a step to a custom FTP export plugin that will generate a summary file of the export, including some user input information.
    Can anyone point me to a specific tutorial or sample for this type of thing?  This would be something similar to LR/Transporter, but need to be included in the same plugin, not as an extra step by the user (i.e., it could be a post processing action, but can't be another whole plugin and step for the Lightroom user).
    Essentially being able to generate either an XML, CSV or general text file that would be FTP'd along with the photos, with custom data written into that file that would include data provided by the user in custom dialog during the export process.
    Thanks in advance,
    Ed M.

    You've probably already worked this one out but I thought I
    would post my solution - not elegant but it works
    I spent two days trying to find an asp.net solution in VB.net
    to no avail so here goes:
    Actionscript:
    var bitMD:BitmapData = new BitmapData(this.width,this.height)
    bitMD.draw(this);
    var _PNG:ByteArray = PNGEncoder.encode(bitMD);
    var U:URLRequest = new URLRequest
    U.method = URLRequestMethod.POST
    U.data = _PNG;
    U.contentType="application/octet-stream";
    U.url = "
    http://localhost/CARTO/image.aspx";
    var UR:URLLoader = new URLLoader
    UR.dataFormat = URLLoaderDataFormat.TEXT
    UR.load(U);
    ASP.NET
    Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As
    System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
    Dim b() As Byte = Request.BinaryRead(Request.TotalBytes)
    Dim ms As MemoryStream = New MemoryStream(b)
    Dim img As System.Drawing.Image = Bitmap.FromStream(ms)
    Dim bmp As Bitmap = New Bitmap(img)
    Dim tempStream As New MemoryStream()
    bmp.Save(tempStream, System.Drawing.Imaging.ImageFormat.Png)
    Dim fs As New
    FileStream(System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath("test.png"),
    FileMode.Create)
    tempStream.WriteTo(fs)
    tempStream.Close()
    fs.Close()
    End Sub

  • Examples of web photo galleries that display xmp metadata

    Hello, I am wondering if anyone knows of an online image gallery that displays xmp metadata for the images displayed?
    Thanks,
    Bob

    Something you may want to consider is DBGallery (http://grrsystems.com/DBGallery). This product stores iptc/xmp data in a MySql database as well as in the image file (using Adobe's XMP Toolkit). Websites can access this data using any number of ways: PHP (google 'accessing mysql with php'), MS Access, and many others. Unfortunately right now there isn't an extremely easy means to access it directly from html like in the sample above: "< div class="content">DESCRIPTION: %FILEINFO% "; although finding someone to put together a little PHP to get close to this easy wouldn't be difficult (elance.com, etc).
    DBGallery itself allows that data to be extracted and placed in emails and pdf's (see a sample at http://grrsystems.com/DBGallery/DBGallery_Sample.pdf). It also generates websites with Title and Description, but the websites are fairly basic I'm afraid (see
    http://www.grrphotography.com/Collections/WorldPlaces/index.htm)
    Dropping any images with iptc/xmp data into DBGallery gets their data into the database because the metadata is automatically read and added to the database.
    If there are questions about this option reply here or email me at [email protected]

  • Creating web photo galleries

    This question was posted in response to the following article: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/lightroom/using/WSE7BC7E4B-BC7A-4c05-994A-A6F74113B819.html

    Not strictly a Lightroom question, but you need to get server space or a host. There's plenty of free ones about, just google 'Free web host'. The hosting service will give you FTP details to enter into Upload Settings part of Lightroom's Web Module.

  • When I build a web photo gallery and upload to my server, the web page as displayed by browsers is blank.  With preview, insid Bridge, the slideshow works fine.

    I have been building web photo galleries with Bridge for a few years and everything worked fine until my latest two builds.  Now when I build a gallery and upload the folder to my web server, it's not getting displayed by browsers.  When you hit the index file of the gallery, the page is blank with no written errors.
    When I use the "preview in browser" feature in Bridge, the slide show works as expected.
    I'm creating the gallery and saving to my local hard drive.  When that's complete, I ftp the entire folder to the server and then point to the index.htm file.  I've been doing this for two years with good results.  All of a sudden, I can't get a gallery to display on-line.

    I am experiencing the exact same problem; the gallery displays and functions perfectly when viewed locally but not when uploaded to the web server. I am wondering if it is also a Dreamweaver issue as each time I upload I receive an error report e.g. some files did not upload et cetera.
