    I've attempted to hit "command P" as well as "File, print" but to no avail does printing work through Preview. This is a clients computer and is running the most up to date version of 10.7. I checked the system updates, none of which are available, and have modified .pdfs to be opened in Safari. Safari and Google Chrome are both able to print PDF files but for some reason, every time I submit to print, I get the pin wheel spinning and spinning.
    Is there anyone else noticing a similar issue. Could anyone direct me to a solution?

    Are you using a Canon printer? If so, there are several threads here about this issue. Canon needs to update their drivers:

    A workaround is to set up your Canon printer using the Generic PostScript PPD or to use another printer. You'll also see the same behavior in TextEdit. See the "More Like This" sidebar.
    If you are not using a Canon driver, please post the spin log.

    It sounds like you are unable to print from Pages at all from your computer. I want to recommend troublehsooting the Mac OS for print issues with this article named:

    Follow these steps until the issue is addressed:
    Make sure that the printer is powered on, has ink / toner, and that there are no alerts on the printer’s control panel. Note: If you cannot clear an alert on the printer's control panel, stop here and check the printer's documentation or contact the manufacturer for support.
    Ensure the printer is properly connected to a USB port on the Mac or AirPort base station / Time Capsule. If the printer is a network-capable printer, make sure that it is properly connected to your home network.
    Use Software Update to find and install the latest available updates. If an update is installed, see if the issue persists.
    Open the Print & Scan pane or Print & Fax (Snow Leopard) pane in System Preferences.
    Delete the affected printer, then add the printer again.
    If the issue persists, try these additional steps:
    Reset the printing system, then add the printer again.
    If the issue still persists, reset the printing system again.  Download and install your printer's drivers. Then, add the printer again.
    Contact the printer vendor or visit their website for further assistance.

    Crystal Reports freezes every time I try to open a report. I feel like it has something to do with trying to locate the default printer, but Im not certain. Crystal Reports opens just fine,but the moment I try to open any report it just hangs. Please help!

    My problem is very similar to this person's. I have 2 laptops with CR XI installed (same problem from original R2 through SP 5).  The old laptop is an IBM Thinkpad R51. The new one is an HP Elitebook 6930p. Both have the exact same software and versions of Win XP and network security.
    If I try to open a report that has an "invalid printer" selected, it will open in the old IBM (with the message, 'This report uses an invalid printer. The default printer will be used instead'), but on the new HP, it freezes and I have to do a CtlAltDel to get out.
    I've tried everything Don Williams suggested, but the only thing that is logged in Admin Tools when this happens is a Security/Privilege Request" with no errors.
    Clearly, when CR in the HP looks for the printer selected in the report and doesn't find it, that causes CR to freeze.
    Any idea what difference between the 2 machines could cause this?
    This is a royal pain, because I can only be on one computer at a time.

    Just purchased Photoshop elements 13, upgrading from version 10.  10 was running slow in editor so I thought the latest version would be faster but not only is it slower & stickier but I can not open the organizer.  It freezes every time & I can not see my catalog pics.  A few pics load & the rest are question marks or sand timer.....Then it freezes completely & I can not do anything until I force quit.  I've tried most of the trouble shooting listed but NOTHING is working!! Please HELP!!!! So frustrating!!!!

    I just started using Illustrator CS 5.1 on a new laptop running Windows 7. (I have used it for over a year on an older computer running Windows XP with no problem). For the first month or so on Windows 7 it worked ok (saving was somewhat slow) but suddenly it freezes every time I save - sometimes it will eventually save - after 5-7 minutes - yes, I timed it...

    To what folders are you saving? What are your saving options?  You could simply be running out of (temporary) disk space if you use the default My Documents/ My Images folder because your temp folder is in the same location. This could cause all sorts of performance issues. And then of course the usual suspects: Virus scanners and otehr tools causing excessive disk activity or trying to scan your file while it's being written.

    hey i downloaded creative cloud for my work computer.  the installer downloads but when i open it, on the first page where it says "Home, Apps, Assets, Community" it just freezes on the apps screen every time. tried uninstalling it and downloaded it again and nothing.  internet connection in my office is super solid too, and my computer's a brand new macbook pro with no problems.  any ideas?

    Please try the steps below:
    Quit the Creative cloud application.
    Go to utilities, delete Adobe Application Manager and Adobe Creative cloud (if not deleted during uninstallation) folders.
    3. Delete AAMUpdater and OOBE folder from the location: ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe
    Delete AAMUpdater, AAMupdaterInventory and OOBE folders from the location: /Library/Application Support/Adobe
    Reinstall Adobe Creative cloud application.

  • Rhythmbox freezes every time when I click on "Radio"

    Hi guys
    I noticed that rhythmbox would now freeze every time when I click on the "Radio" option on the side pane. The freeze means that rhythmbox loses response, and top tool shows that it occupies 100% CPU usage and more than 60% MEM. Besides, if I scroll the playlist, it may also free like this randomly.
    I tried run it in gnome-terminal and want to see some error output, and got nothing. Anyone using this application has encountered the same problem?

    well, after cleaning configuration files, rhythmbox works for some time. But now it freezes again, I don't know why. Is there a method for me to track this application?
    Since rhythmbox playing audio just fine even when its UI freezes, I run this from terminal didn't give any useful information.
    By the way, now it's not just freezing when click on Radio item. But it would freeze every time when I second click on any items after running.

    Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
    The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
    Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
    While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
    Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
    After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
    *Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
    The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
    Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
    Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
    Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
    The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
    Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
    After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • Problem - computer freezes every time a 3D game / Wine game is run

    Hello. My brother's computer is a quite powerful machine. He would be very satisfied with it if it wasn't for one thing: it freezes every time he runs any 3D game or any game using Wine.
    I have tried to do some troubleshooting, but after long time I still cannot find the cause. The problem persists. No update has fixed it yet.
    Some 3D games seem to run, some don't. I have tried AssaultCube and it worked, but when I tried Sauerbraten it froze.
    Wine games seem not to work at all, or at least that's my general impression. As a test, I tried a freeware DirectX 7 game. Froze straightaway. More complex games of course also froze.
    The problem seems to be related either to hardware or to some NVidia-specific stuff. I tried a test run of XP on this computer. It ran when it was a clean install, but when I installed NVidia drivers, it didn't boot again correctly. There was no error description as far as I remember.
    I have swapped a power supply to a higher wattage thinking that it maybe was energy starvation that took the system down. No luck.

    Right.. i have been reading bout similiar issues ..like that of your system freezing..
    a reported fix would be to
      echo 1 | tee /sys/devices/system/cpu/sched_mc_power_savings
    as root
    and add it to the /etc/rc.local for it to be applied every boot up..

    The problem is with facebook, go to settings / facebook / your user name and delete your account, the do a hard reset (home+power for some seconds).
    dont need to delete the facebook app! just delete your integrate account from settings

    Do you have crash reports with a "bp-" prefix that were submitted and that show a crashing thread?
    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
    *Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Any ideas how to sort this out? hope i haven't majorly screwed it up. thanks.

    Sorted it out.     Do you have gfxCardStatus installed?  Is your monitor set to "Integrated" or "Discrete".  You want it set to Discrete to drive the external HDMI display.
    Try resetting the PRAM and SMC

    Are you sure you have a good miniDisplayPort to HDMI cable?
    Do you have another HDMI display you can test against (your neighbor's HDMI capable TV).
    Do you have friend that can test the cable using their Mac and maybe their TV or a monitor that has HDMI input.

    Most likely, you've got a problem with the Flash Player software. First, download and run the Flash uninstaller for Mac OS X 10.6 and up:
