Preview Help Please!
Ihave turned off previews, deleted all the previews in my main Library, but still everytime I have a lag problem with adjustments I view the task list, Aperture is processing previews AGAIN. Is there something I have missed?
right(option) click the cog up top by library (settings) ...
look for the maintain previews selection and uncheck it ...
check prefs command+, to make sure generate previews for new projects is off too ...
search this forum for a lot of recent posts that speak to this exact topic ...

Published mp4 lags, is out of sync, and does not match the Project Preview - help please!
My Captivate 7 project includes two video demo slides with audio narration. The published mp4 video is vastly different from what it should be and how it shows in a preview in Captivate. I have tried publishing it again twice - once I changed the settings by clicking "Force republish all the slides" in the Advanced Options but the published mp4 is still messed up - the video freezes while the audio proceeds and other out of sync problems.
The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

Every time I open lightroom I get a pop up message saying "Lightroom encountered an error when reading from its preview cache and needs to quit" and it closes. Ive already tried reinstalling, nothing seems to work. Help please!
Open the folder containing your catalog. In that folder you will find another folder with the extension .lrdata, and you need to delete that folder. After you do that, Lightroom should start normally and will create a new preview cache.

When I download PDFs on my macbook I am given the option of saving them to iCloud and in Preview they are listed under iCloud. How can I then view them on my iOS devices? Help please.

You can't share preview files to an iOS device. There are several other options for pdf's such as Adobe Reader or iBooks. -
My files are all there and open in Preview but in Numbers they come up blank. Same in Pages. Any ideas please? My Mac was stopped suddenly by a power cut. Could this be relevant? Help please. Jon Sims

Do you have access to another computer with Numbers installed?
If so, do your files open properly on that computer?
If so, then the problem is your computer itself, which is best posted in a different forum. -
I just install Photoshop CC. I try to open the file picture. All open as solid black picture. But on the right side under layer I can see little pic preview. Please help!

Trouble previewing photos shot with a Canon 20D. Help please.
Hi out there. I have a photo library with images shot with two different digital cameras: Canon PowerShot 40 and Canon SRL 20D. For some reasons that I can't figure out, photos taken by the 20D can't be previewed. Please what's that simple thing I have to do. thanks

the 20D has ~8Mpix resolution..
use any pic processor (or Apple's Preview), to downsize the res to 720x480 (if you don't do any KB effects...)
we read more&more reports, that iM has some 'trouble' with 'large scale' pics from these new digistills with a res beyond >5Mpix ... forum's mastermind Karl Petersen recommends to downsize them .. -

I posted this problem here before, but since I really need to access the sites that receive this error message in less than a month, I had to re-post; hopefully someone who didn't see it before will see it & have a solution for me.
Here are the details: I'm running windows 8.1 & I use Firefox 33.1.1, Pale Moon 25.1.0 or Opera 26.0 as my browsers, (I have IE installed & up-to-date, but I never use it). I followed the 10-point checklist on Adobe & everything was done, except for "uncheck Hardware Acceleration" in Flash 'Settings'; I tried to uncheck it on this site, where it's indicated, as well as in my 4 browsers when I'm doing something that uses Flash, but no matter how hard I try, I can't 'uncheck' the check mark in that tiny box! Since this error problem only affects 5 web sites, & I can watch streaming media on all other sites, I don't think it's an issue.
Here's how this problem began: I was watching a live, streaming nest-cam on 5/09/14 around 11:00AM, (yes, I DO know the exact time & date, because it happened so suddenly while I was watching this website that I'd been watching since the end of February, 2014), when my screen went black. I thought it was probably an Adobe Crash, but when the usual Crash Report window didn't show up, I just closed Firefox & reopened it, expecting to resume watching the nest-cam. When I went back to the site, I got the black screen with the "Error loading plugin: Plugin file not found" message. The chat portion on the site still works, though. I know there are other sites with this nest-cam feed, so I started trying them, but it took several tries for me to find one that didn't get the error message! I posted this problem on "Windows BBS" forum, & someone else posted that the same thing happened to them AND on the same sites! They didn't have a solution, either. I cleared my cache, rebooted my PC & even did a System Restore, but whatever happened in that brief second made using ONLY 5 sites impossible. Here are the sites that receive the error message:

I'm an amateur nest-watcher & it's vital that I have access to these 5 sites, so if anyone knows how to fix this, PLEASE tell me!

I have exactly the exact problem described below but do not have a folder with the same name as the volume created under the volume. Please can someone help - I've tried everything. This problem only happened when I upgraded to Dreaweaver CC!

I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1.

Hi, I edited a 60i NTSC video from a canon XL2, and it looks fine on the external monitor (TV), the FCP preview and everything. It even looks good when I export a QT mov with no compression.
But as soon as I burn it on iDVD and play it on a DVD player, the whole interlacing business goes terribly, terribly wrong.
I've tried all possible exporting settings, but it doesn't work. Should I de-interlace the clips? I've gathered from reading the forums that it might help, but it sounds like a desperate solution, since the text should be interlaced but not the video?
I mean... what did I do wrong? Isn't ot supposed to just work straight-through with the NTSC DV Easy Setup and changing only to "None" on the compressing settings at export?

For exporting, I used the Export>Quicktime movie, just like you said, using the current setting (i.e. Compression:None)
The DVD player was connected to a PAL TV, but it's OK because the DVD player can read anything. I know because I've watched NTSC as well as PAL dvd movies before.
The Canon XL2 the Mac is connected to, via Firewire, is NTSC, connected via RCA to the PAL TV. Which means the signal I'm watching is Black & White... (I know this sounds WEIRD)... but it's O.K. because what I'm really checking as I edit is the interlacing problem that I got when playing the DVD on the dvd player.... : the BAD problem.
How bad? Really bad. Any sudden movement, or panning of objects with vertical lines, like a painting or a building looks all wobbly and curvey and blurry and wrong, which is unnacceptable for the project I'm doing, as it is a professional work (Meaning that I'm charging money for it, despite the crazy assemble of different products and formats I'm using).
I've gotten things that look good before, but never on Final Cut Pro.. I'm new to the program, and to Mac, and this is the first video I'm exporting to a DVD on this platform. -

In premiere pro, there is no 480p profil ! strange! why ?.. very disturbing !!
Then i select the avchd 1280p and decided to change the parameters preview to 854x480 and save the profil :

Copy and paste your edited clips into the new sequence. Or, use the crop settings in the Export Settings window: -
HI. I've got an issue with Pages running on Mavericks. Everytime I open it up it just hangs right there and I can't do anything with it. I've deleted the app and installed it back again but the problem sitll persists. Any help please?

But i really wonder how you did that. did you always switch between design view and preview view, then change the key position for 2px then switch back, to align the four letters? because i imagine that can get really frustrating, if you have a logo consisting of 58 parts instead of 4!:)

I updated to 7.0.2 on my iphone and read to close an icon to double click home and then sweep up the icon to close it. I need to know how to sweep up the icon since I can't seem to do it. Help please???

I upgraded in-place from Windows 8.1 to Build 9926. I am unable to upgrade past 9926.
Windows Update finds the new preview build on both fast and slow rings. It downloads it successfully. Upon attempting to install, it fails.
I get a screen overlay with the message:
Can't update to Windows 10 Technical Preview
Sorry, it looks like this PC can't run Windows 10 Technical Preview. This might be because the Users or Program Files folder is being redirected to another partition.

As we have Windows 10 install Media available at hand, might we consider to do a dual boot of Windows 10 and Windows 8.1?
Based on the information you posted, it seems to be that the current Windows 8.1 environment is not suitable to do an Upgrade.

aperture 3.2.4, macbookpro lion: image disappears after loading from any project; repairing everything on starting app doesn't fix it. Only restarting the computer works. Any help, please? ... in non-technical language please. Thanks

“Try Safe boot and then restart with only Aperture open. Still doent work write back with more details like Ram, HD capacity/free space. Are these thumbnails or Previews? Have you turned off building previews in AP preferances?

Starting up into Safe Mode does several things:
1 It forces a directory check of the startup volume.
2 It loads only required kernel extensions (some of the items in /System/Library/Extensions).
3 In Mac OS X v10.3.9 or earlier, Safe Mode runs only Apple-installed startup items (such items may be installed either in /Library/StartupItems or in /System/Library/StartupItems; these are different than user-selected account login items).
4 It disables all fonts other than those in /System/Library/Fonts (Mac OS X v10.4 or later).
5 It moves to the Trash all font caches normally stored in /Library/Caches/com.apple.ATS/(uid)/ , where (uid) is a user ID number such as 501 (Mac OS X v10.4 or later).
6 It disables all startup items and login items (Mac OS X v10.4 or later).
7 Mac OS X v10.5.6 or later: A Safe Boot deletes the dynamic loader shared cache at (/var/db/dyld/). A cache with issues may cause a blue screen on startup, particularly after a Software Update. Restarting normally recreates this cache.”
As I don’t know much about the technical aspects of computers, I don’t really understand the first answer, and it sounds like following it might produce unwanted changes.
But I understand your questions, so I’ll try to answer them;
"loading from any Project" means that I encounter the problem when I’m using a project, possibly after/because I’ve left the Mac on overnight, and/or I’ve made a lot of adjustments, and, once the problem is there, it happens in any other project which I open – the images load then disappear.
I can see images in the Browser, so it only happens in the Viewer(s).
I’m afraid I don’t understand what you mean by: “If you select "Photos" from near the top of the Library tab of the Inspector, does it show you all of your Images?”. I am a newcomer to Aperture, so I don’t know what some of the buttons are for yet, but when I want to look at and adjust my pictures, I import them, as referenced images, then Aperture creates a folder/project in the Library. When I click on that Project (when it’s working properly), all the images appear in the Browser or the Viewers – without me needing to “select Photos from near the top of the Library tab of the Inspector”. I selected it and looked at all the items in the dropdown menu, but none of them seems to offer the option to ‘show all the images’. So I’m not sure how to answer your question except to say that – yes, I can see all the pictures in the Browser or the Viewers (when it’s working properly), but I don’t seem to need to use the Photos button to achieve this.
Did Aperture work before?
Yes it worked ok for a while, but I only purchased it on 24th May.
If I understand correctly, the difference between thumbnail and preview is that the thumbnail is what I see when the “Loading” wheel is turning, and the disappearance of this wheel after a few seconds means that I am now looking at the preview (also, the thumbnail cannot be adjusted).
So I think the problem occurs when the thumbnail has finished loading; the viewer going blank/grey might mean that it is not showing the preview.
But I have not changed the default Preview settings in Aperture Preferences.

I have noticed another problem: I cannot apply the same rating to multiple images: following the instructions, I select a group of contiguous (or non- contiguous) images, choose a selection eg “5stars” using the keyboard, but the stars only appear in the last selected image – even though all the images are still showing as selected.”
