Preview Highlight Colour

Just wondering if there is anyway to change the highlight colour in Preview from the dull grey to something that stand out more?
Not the highlight colour when you select areas with the mouse, the highlight colour you get when using spotlight, then open the document it found, all the highlights are a dull grey, which can be quite difficult to see.
Thanks
Jed

Hi Graham
No, not that preferences, that is fine, it is when using Preview, open a pdf document and perform a search on a keyword. the found referenes to it are highlighted in grey, my normal highlight colour is red. It seems that preview has an inbuilt highlight colour that does not come from system preferences

  • Preview Highlighting colours not showing in other PDF viewing programs

    Hi,
I'm new to OSX and today discovered that Preview can mark up PDFs with highlighted colours - pretty cool
However when the saved PDF is viewed with other programs; Adobe Reader XI on both Windows and MAC and Foxit Reader, the highlighted colours are so faint you can easily miss them and its very hard to distingiush between yellow and green.
    Anyone else come across this?
    Thanks

  • Preview - Highlight Text Color - Keyboard Shortcut

    Hi!
I've loving the markup capabilities of Preview in Mountain Lion and was wondering if there was a way to quickly change colours (colors) of the highlighted text via keyboard shortcut?
I found this thread for Snow Leopard, but couldn't figure out how to get it to work for Mountain Lion:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3180984?start=0&tstart=0
It seems there are some shortcuts possible, for instance when I click the Markup dropdown box if I type "g" it will highlight Green, "b" it will select Blue etc.  But it won't actually select these options.
The quickest way I've found is the right-click after highlighting which brings up a contextual menu to select the colour of that highlight.
Ideally I'd press a shortcut combination to change the highlight colour before selecting what to highlight.  Does anyone know of a way to get this functionality?
Thanks so much for your help! =)
    Derek.

    Check out this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3957?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
and do as explained in the link you posted yourself.
Worked for me by adding shortcuts from General settings-->Keyboard-->Shortcuts and define them for Preview.

  • Preview - highlight words

How can I change the highlight colour when searching for words in a pdf in Preview? I find the grey is hard to see. Thanks, Mike

    drmike789,
I'm glad that you found your answer, although I would like to point out some things. 1) if you select (Group by page) it will change the highlight color from gray to yellow. The group by page is located right below the search tool. 2) Open up System Preferences -> Universal Access -> Seeing (tab) -> and make sure the (Enhance Contrast) bar is set to Normal, all the way to the Left. I know this can make the gray highlight color very difficult to see if set up a little. Same goes for the blue highlight color in other apps.
    Hope that helps,
    Weston

  • In Pages when I go to FIND how can I change the highlight colour of the found word?  At the moment it is a very pale grey and not easily seen.

In Pages when I go to FIND how can I change the highlight colour of the found word?  At the moment it is a very pale grey and not easily seen.

Well, it might depend on the nationality of your keyboard, but on my US keyboard, the tilde ("squiggle") is above the TAB key; on a Mac, ⌘-TAB cycles through the active applications and ⌘-tilde cycles through the windows in the front application.
When you do a Find, Pages selects an instance of your search text (the next one after the current selection, I think, but I didn't check that). It doesn't make the document window the front window, though. If you click in the window to bring it to the front, it moves the selection (or insertion point) to wherever you click unless you click on or above the ruler. Try clicking at the top of the document window after you do a find; say somewhere near the document name. Now you should see the highlighted selection (your search text). If you click back on the Find window, the selection will go grey again, unless you hold ⌘ down while clicking.

  • Live Preview Highlight is not working.

I recently downloaded Edge Code to a new work computer and the Live Preview Highlight is not working.
I have Edge Code installed on a personal computer, and it works great. The version I am using was downloaded about 6 months ago so I am not sure if they changed something with the most recent version. When I highlight a section within the html i.e. a table or row, it would highlight those same sections in the preview. However, this is not the case on my new computer.
Anybody know whats up? Is it setting on Chrome that I need to change or is there some update that I am not aware of.

I guess I assumed that you had Chrome setup to auto-update (like I have it). The only way Live Preview will work in a previous version of Edge Code is with an older version of Chrome.
But there are other reason why Live Preview may not work in latest version of Edge Code. Take a look at Live Preview section of Troubleshooting Guide.

  • Preview highlight and shadow clipping mask in second monitor

Hi, I'm new in the forum and just starting with the new LR3. I have a question about to preview highlight and shadow clipping in the second monitor, becouse I can't check the mask clipping in my second monitor as in the LR2... Is there a possibility to change it to preview the mask in the second monitor?
    Thanks and regards
    Daniel

Yeah, thanks.... but I mean that when you are in develop mode and you try to see the highlight or black clipping mask, red or blue, now in LR3 only appears in the main monitor, not in the second monitor as well like in LR2... Maybe I'm not explaining very well the difference...

  • Can I change the highlight colour from grey?

Can I change the highlight colour when searching for words in a Pages? I find the grey is hard to see. Thanks, Mike

    Mike,
As Fruhulda noted, this is a System behavior (and a source of irritation and questions since the beginning of—OS X—time). It's part of the System's way of showing which is the active window, and extends to other System set colours as well. The most noticeable (if that's the proper term for these inconspicuous non-colours) is the greying of the thumbs in the scroll bars.
Do Provide Feedback. But make it OS X feedback instead of (or as well as) Pages Feedback.

  • Change text highlight colour in Spark TextInput

    Hi,
As the title says, anyone know how to change the highlight colour in a Spark TextInput component? By the "highlight colour" I mean that if some of the text is selected this would be the background colour of the selected text.
    Thanks.

    SetStyle("focusedTextSelectionColor", ...)
There are also unfocusedTextSelectionColor and inactiveTextSelectionColor
    styles.

  • Highlight colour

One of those things that's been bugging me for ages and at last remember to raise a question here...
Is there a way to change the colour or intensity of text or table cells that are selected with the cursor? At first I thought this was an app specific thing, but then realised that I have the same issue across all apps: the highlight colour of selected things (text, cells etc) is just too washed out so it is difficult to see what's selected (eg, doing a spellcheck in Thunderbird, or selecting cells in Excel). So I guess it's an OS function but can't find anywhere to change it.
Hoping for an answer that eases the ol' eyestrain!
    Thanks
    Ian

    That's what makes them fun!

  • Highlight colour change?

is there a way to change the highlight colour? If I highlighted a text or website or something, the highlight colour is blue and is barely visible because I have a black/blue theme. I want to know if I can change the highlight colour to white or something so I can see perfectly.

Most of the ui.* prefs do not exist by default (i.e. are hidden) and need to be created, in this case as a string pref.

  • Highlight Colour / Not Displaying Properly

Hi all... I made the Highlight Colour in my System Preferences 100% Yellow, so it's basically a canary yellow, it works for selecting things in Safari, but when I select emails in Mail the yellow is a dirty yellow, any ideas?

    Hi Senthil,
What do you mean by sub type grid?  Are you doing your color-contexting based on matching a numeric value or a string value?  Have you reviewed the Help Documentation on "iGrid Usage Notes"?
There is an article posted on the SDN that may be of some help - here is the link to it:

  • How can I restore the text selection highlight colour to the default black colour in indesign CC ?

How can I restore the text selection highlight colour to the default black colour in indesign CC ?

Manish Shama, thanks for your speedy response. I was able to get into my MAC settings and change the background from the black to whatever color I like, so that helps (THANKS!). But the real issue is that the selected text does not turn white (even though that's what's specified in my MAC settings), it remains black. I really want to have the selection reverse out as it always has for years and years going all the way back to PageMaker Any ideas?

  • Shortcut for switching highlight colour in Preview?

    Hello world!
Anyone know of a shortcut that would allow for switching the colour of highlighter/markup in the Preview app? Or of a way to create one?
    Thanks!

    See my comment/question here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4186073
You shouldn't need a shortcut now to be honest as there are only 'five' colours available to choose from.

  • Preview Highlight "Garbage" characters

I have a fairly strange issue.
I am using Mac BookPro 15 Retina, OS X 10.9.4 (latest update check 16.Jul.14), using Preview app version 7.0 (826.4).
I use Preview for reading all my PDF'es. And I highlight the text, underline, draw speech bubbles, arrows, boxes, etc
I have no problem so far but except one single PDF which is not behaving well.
    The issue is this :
I click on View > Highlight and Notes to open up the left-hand side pane (in Preview)
I highlight some text and immediately the left-hand side pane will show the page number and the first few words of the text that I highlight plus the time stamp
This is fine at the beginning
But after using it for a while (which I do not know the exact timing), the highlighted text on the left hand pane start to show garbage character
Not ALL the text I highlight from now onward are garbage, some are still readable text, some are garbage. And there is no fix pattern. I will not know if it is good or bad until I highlighted on it
I did some text, copy the text out to TextEditor, and it show garbage as well, trying to change the font (at TextEditor) does not help too
Bring that PDF to another Mac has the same result
So I download that PDF from the source again and highlight the same text to prove that it is not "corrupted" at source. It is confirm that the text was readable when it is downloaded. But the PDF that I have been modifying results in garbage when I highlighted it and paste to TextEditor.
I have tried to re-download the PDF at least twice and I am still facing the same issue
I ran Font Book app and did a quick check and do not find anything that is invalid. Though I don't really know how to use Font Book app to troubleshoot for this matter.
The above 2 screen shots refer to the same passage in the "bad" PDF. You notice that the second image show the text is not garbage but when you highlight the entire paragraph, it become "corrupted"
The above image shows what happen if I copy and paste to TextEditor.
The frustrating part with this issue is that it only happen to this PDF and the problem occur after using for "some time".
Apologise if I did not narrate the problem clearly.

    Hey!
I don't know if you already solved the problem but I came accross with the same issue and found a quick fix. First there are many threads with this topic as old as from 2007. In any case, it seems it has something to do with embeded fonts, and is nearly impossible to fix that. Although there is somebody proposing to save it as TIFF and then using OCR to recognize the text and put together all those TIFF generated pages. I did try that fix once but it was time consuming and I gave up. Anyway, today I just found a fix based on that recommendation. This one gets the TIFF in the same application without having to save different files. These are the steps.
    1. Open the file with PdfPen (http://smilesoftware.com/PDFpen/index.html). I have the pro version but the free version also has OCR.
    2. Go to File>Save as...
    3. Select: Format>TIFF (print, 300dpi)
    4. Save. It will save a file with the same name but TIFF
    5. Open that file with PdfPen
    6. Select the first page of the document in the left side of the window and press command+A to select all the pages
Ok, this is a bit tricky, just follow me
    7. Go to Help and type OCR, there will apper "OCR Page" and "OCR Document"
    8. Move your mouse to "OCR Document" and an arrow will show you where to go. Go there while it is saying "OCR Dcoument" and click
    9. Wait depending on the size of the document
    10. Go to File>Save as... Choose PDF (it will be already selected) Save and enjoy!
Now you can open the file in Preview and select text and copy it.
This may seem a long process but its not. I just wanted to be descriptive. Just be carefull in step 7. I do not why but when I go directly to Edit> it only appears OCR Page. That is why I went through Help>OCR... anyway, you got the idea...
Hope it helps an let me know if it works!
