Preview in Browser error

Hi,
I am a novice, so forgive me. The preview in browser function has suddenly stopped working and returns 404 error (Firefox) or file not found (IE).  --> http://ftp.name.com/TMP16w4ueh.html
I rebooted my laptop (Windows 7, running Web premium CS5) and that didn't fix the problem.
Thank you,
Trouvera

wait...what?
http://ftp.name.com/TMP16w4ueh.html?
Are you trying to use a testing server? Because your URL is formated like you're trying to upload the file to your actual live server to do a preview. I would double check your site settings (through the site manager) and make sure things are okay there. The url formatting, like I said, suggests your site definition is confused about whether you're using a testing server.

  • Web Gallery 'Preview in browser' error

    Hi All,
I am hoping someone can possibly help me out?
Everytime I try and preview a web gallery in my browser I just get a word pad file open similar to what I have copy and pasted underneath. I have tried different web engines and still I get a similar response every time I try and 'preview in broswer'. I have tried everything I can think of bar reinstalling LR.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks,

How are you launching the web gallery? What type of template are you using? I simply double click on the html page in the gallery folder and it launches whatever browser I have associated with it. Could your .html page be associated with Word Pad? If so, that'd suggest a change.....

  • Error message with Preview in Browser

When I click on &quot;Preview in Browser&quot; in
Dreamweaver 8.0 it takes me to a custom error page on our website
that says &quot; page not found&quot;. For example here is
the URL it creates for the temporary view page:
    http://ftp.svunet.org/htdocs/annual_conference/TMPfi1yavu5db.htm.
Why is it trying to create a page on our server and not on my hard
    drive?

    Why is it
    > trying to create a page on our server and not on my hard
    drive?
Did you define a testing server for this site, and enter the
    remote info?
That's about the only way this will happen.
do you need a testing server? is there asp/php/etc dynamic
    server side
scripting? If not- go into the site definition, click the
    Advanced tab, and
in the Testing server category, set access to None.

  • Error when previewing in Browser

I am using Captivate 8. My projects work as they should, but when I try to Preview in Browser, for some reason Captivate is triggering Microsoft Word to open. I am totally stumped on this and could really use some input.

Check the file associations on your computer. It sounds like you may have MS Word set up as the default app to open HTM files.

  • Preview in browser - Firefox / File not found

    Specs:
    OS X 10.4.7
    Dreamweaver 8.0.2
    Firefox 1.5.0.1
I (and my whole office) am having a major problem. We all
work directly from files on our osx server. When working in
Dreamweaver and trying to "Preview in browser" with Firefox 1.5 we
get a "File not found" error. The problem seems to be stemming from
the path lacking the "Volumes" part of the directory.
    For example:
When I preview in Safari the path is shown as:
    file:///Volumes/Server_HD/Website_Folder/index.html (this
    works)
But on Firefox or Mozilla I get:
    file:///Server_HD/Website_Folder/index.html (this does not
    work)
This problem did not occur in previous versions of Firefox.
Due do this problem, I have virtually eliminated Firefox as part of
my workflow in favor of Safari. I would love to return to Firefox
    can anybody please help me!?

Can you try again please, although not in a narrative? Just
    go to the
ADVANCED tab on the Site Definition panel, and list the
    contents of the
fields you see for Local, Remote, and Testing Categories (no
    need for the
    login info).

  • This browser no longer exists at the location specified in the preview in browser preferences

I am creating a new website using Adobe Dreamweaver CC 2014. I tried to preview it in Chrome and I received an error message saying, "This browser no longer exists at the location specified in the Preview in Browser preferences." It previews fine in IE. I use Chrome as my default, but I personally have not gone in and reset anything so I don't understand why this is happening since I created my last Dreamweaver site. Any ideas how I can fix this?

Okay, thank you. Inside Dreamweaver, I selected Edit Browser List and then it opened to show Chrome F12 and Internet Explorer. I chose Chrome F12 and I got the following responses in the screenshots below. I don't know what to do about the final image error message.

  • Please help - can't preview in Browser

Ok - I am relatively new to Dreamweaver, even though I designed my previous website in Frontpage.  I bought a template thinking that I could just worry about designing the website rather than the background stuff (don't get mad at me).  Well, that wasn't working and I tried to design my own template, which is very simple.  Anyway, I am so messed up now.   The old pages with the old template won't preview in browser and the new ones won't either.  What did I do?

Run your code through the validation tools below and fix reported errors.
Orphaned HTML tags (an extra opening or closing <div> ) can mess things up.

  • Preview in browser looks terrible

I have attached a png of a project I am working on plus a screenshot of how it looks when previewed in FF (3.4,3.5). I also have the same preview in IE.
I sent the png to a friend and he tested it in 2 browsers (FF and IE) and they worked fine.
I do not understand what is causing this problem but it is seriously affecting my progress.
Could one of you deities have a look and help me out please?
    Thanks
    Eddie

    Hi Linda
    That worked a treat.
Can I be bold as to ask you a related question?
I have created a button with states for the about menu button and I cannot get it to go to the about page either in Firefox Preview or when using Preview in Browser. In fact when I preview in FF and click on the 'about' button I get the following error:
    Problem loading page.
    # Check the file name for capitalisation or other typing errors.
    #  Check to see if the file was moved, renamed or deleted.
I also canot navigate within the Preview in Fireworks using the created menu button even though the links have been set etc.
However, if I remove the button and use the menu about design and create a hotspot it then works and easily navigates but then I cannot create any states.
Is the a problem in FW or have I done something wrong?
I followed Jim Babbag's tutorials to the tee and have done exactly what he has done and I do not experience either problem.
Cannot navigate in preview in FW and crashes when trying to navigate in FF.
    Thanks for any help.
    Eddie

  • Restoring 'preview in browser' from test server

I have recently added and am learning to build a 'form' page (dynamic PHP page) to my site.
I have installed Apache and am using a localhost 'test server' on C/program files/xampp/htdocs
( I have been following tutotrials in The Missing Manuals series)
Everthing is going ok, but my question involves the following problem:
I used the 'preview in browser' function as always in my development. After setting up the PHP page and attempting to preview it, it established a new connection to the local server and it asked to 'put' the files to that test server which I did. Everything worked ok, but when I went back to work on regular HTML pages, and preview, it tries to use the test server.
The test server is in a different location (above), and obviously doesn't find the location of my site development. The rest of my site doesn't reside on the test server location (above), so when I try to preview it, I just get error messages.
I have several computers - when I go back to one that I didn't preview the PHP page in (even though I have copied the entire site with new PHP page), it previews like I want, in a regular browser.
    Question:
Is there a way to tell the 'preview' function where to look, so it doesn't activate the test server and just loads the original HTML files like it used to?
Or do I just need to define/relocate both the test server and my site to the same location?
    Thank you!!

    Question:
Is there a way to tell the 'preview' function where to look, so it doesn't activate the test server and just loads the original HTML files like it used to?
If your site has a Testing Server defined, then all previews will be directed to the Testing Server, including those that may not require a Testing Server.
Or do I just need to define/relocate both the test server and my site to the same location?
That's usually the best way - altough it's not required.  You just have to make sure that any files you need to make your preview work are also uploaded to the Testing Server.

  • Browser error on APEX Login Page

    Good morning,
    Version Information:
    - APEX 3.1.1
    - Database 11.1.0.6.0
    - Application Server: 10.1.3
I'm using the APACHE install on my APP server to connect to APEX.
When I connect to the APEX_ADMIN login page, after filling in the blanks, I get a browser error message, not an APEX error. The "caution" icon pops up on the status bar at the bottom of the browser window. When I look at the message, it says:
    Line: 34
    Char: 1
    Error: Object expected
    Code: 0
    URL: http://<myservername>:7778/pls/apex/f?p=4550:10:7817059686490562
That URL, of course is the login page.
When I checked the status, the install completed successfully. I am listening on port 7778 mainly because those that came before me configured the app server's http.conf with 7778.
