Preview in full screen?

I swore not that long ago, when I previewed an iDVD project I had made, it went to full screen.. Not it doesn't.. is there a toggle, because I don't see one.

Hi hupjack,
Sorry, no iDVD window can be resized. Are you mistaken with Apple DVD Player which can be full screen?

  • Can I change the transition animation in Preview's full-screen mode?

When moving through a PDF file in Preview's full-screen mode, the pages slide off to the left/right when using arrow keys (up when using the space bar). I discovered that I can skip this animation by holding down the option key when I hit the arrow key, or by using a four-finger swipe.  But I'd like to use my remote to advance pages in the PDF, and I'd like to get rid of the transition animations permanently.  Is there a way to customize the transition animation preference? I don't see anything in the Preferences to do this.
    Thanks in advance.

Just as an update, Ralph explained (here) that in Snow Leopard, the iChat application no longer gets it's speed values from QuickTime.

My After Effects re sized after a ram preview in full screen and is stuck like that.even if I restart. I'm not able to acces any of the top tools.

What are the pixel dimensions of your monitor?
You can reset the workspace to its default by deleting your preferences folder.
Information on finding and deleting the preferences folder can be found here, in After Effects Help:

  • How do I get previews in full screen?

Bridge CC on MacBook Pro 15" Retina: How do I get previews in full screen? Images with a height of less than 2000 pixels do not fill the screen.

thanks Tom, well you are right, but because so much of Final Cut footage is played back in QT I almost think of it as an an appendage of the program. I can repost this, but do you know the answer?

  • Preview pdf full screen shows double pages after page 1

How can I get Preview to show single pages in fullscreen mode? It keeps showing the 2nd and 3rd page (and so on) of any pdf side by side on the screen. Single page display in a window works fine, but when swithcing to full screen it always displays it as a two-page layout.

I don't have CS4 but in CS3 I could get the same results as "use software rendering" as when I clicked on "restore down" (middle symbol in upper rt corner of windows screen) even though I enlarged the window to full screen.
In maximize window mode I had several problems with the preview without software rendering, and knew my video card was weak point. I know this is not the same issue but does not cost anything to try it. Don't know why it worked either.

  • Preview.app Full screen annoyance

I really like the full screen mode to read documents. There's one problem which
I found really irritating. Here it is:
    1. On page 1 of a pdf file, I move to fullscreen
    2. I read on to page 50 say in full screen
    3. Now I want to mark up something, so I exit full screen by pressing escape
    4. But this lands me back to page 1 !?
Is there a fix for this? I am considering moving to Acrobat which works all right, but wanted to
check if the preview can be made to work before I do that.
    THanks.

I did not find the escape key to do anything.
    1. On page 1 of a pdf file, I move to fullscreen
Do you click the green ( + ) button top left? Works for me.
    2. I read on to page 50 say in full screen
OK I go to page 20 (short document)
    3. Now I want to mark up something, so I exit full screen by pressing escape
    I simply press the green ( - ) button
    4. But this lands me back to page 1 !?
Not me, I am still on the page 20.

  • How to change Preview's Full screen default setting from "two-pages" to "continuous scroll"

I am using OS X mavericks on my mid 2013 Air.
I usually need to open multiple PDFs during my work and I prefer to put them all in full screen for easy swapping. I was able to change the setting which allowed me to open PDFs in "continuous scroll". However, the PDFs became two-pages display again when I put them into full screen and I can't find any setting which allow me to change the full screen default display mode. Is there a way to do it or it is simply not possible.? Could Apple just add an option for us to change it? Thanks in advance for any help.

You may also need to reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems.
    *<b>View > Zoom > Reset</b> (Ctrl+0 (zero); Cmd+0 on Mac)

  • I open Preview in full screen mode and open two files.

How do I switch between the files? In non full-screen mode I can press cmd +` but this does not work in full-screen. I can go to Windows and choose the one I want but that is inconvenient. I tried this in Mail and Windows does not work.

    Hi there
The only way to display things in that manner from inside the browser is to use JavaScript to open the window. When you open the window using JavaScript, you have the ability to define many of the window characteristics, such as toolbars and all that.
Likely this will require engaging in a conversation with the support area of whomever supports the LMS you are using in order to figure out what you need to change to make this happen when the LMS serves the Captivate content.

  • IMovie wont show preview in full screen?

Here's a screen capture of what I mean. I was messing with the settings one day and now my iMovie makes the file narrower and distorts the quality and makes it look pixelated. I just cant remember what I changed in my setting. Is there a way to restore my changes? Before when Id upload a file it would take up the entire preview box not leave bline lines on the sides. Help?

Try a different aspect ratio in the "General" tab of "Project Properties" in iMovie's "File" menu.

  • Imove preview and full screen will not playback on one of my monitors

I have two 23" Apple Monitors, I can view all the videos on one, i.e. thumbs and preview. However if I move to the other screen, I lost the preview, It's black and mirrors the menu bars if you pull them down. I have a powerful mac, also with two Graphic Graphics in, installed by Apple. Can anyone help, if you can understand the above.

Thank you so very much, I didn't know what to do,  I could not return it to Amazon as I was just past the 60 days and I only used it for a total of 5 hours... THANK YOU

  • Full-screen (spacebar) preview quality testing

[For background story, please read http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1056763 but be warned, it's very l-o-n-g!]
In brief: some people have noted that Bridge full-screen (spacebar) previews (FSPs) don't accurately reflect the sharpness of a photograph. Sometimes this can be explained by individual configuration problems, but it's clear that this is a common issue amongst people using Bridge to assess/score photograph sharpness, without having to build/examine 100% previews for every image.
[It's worth noting that one common reason why FSPs aren't very sharp is because the Bridge advanced preference "Generate Monitor-Size Previews" hasn't been ticked, as this produces a higher resolution image cache.  Another cause of very fuzzy previews is random and unexplained, but can usually be solved by restarting Bridge and/or clearing the cache for the selection.]
This discussion concerns the lack of sharpness seen only in FSPs.  It can be described as "a subtle but significant loss of detail and sharpness, similar to a slightly out of focus photograph"; imagine a photo with a little bit of blur filter, or a Photoshop PSD at a non-standard zoom setting.  This "softening" of the image is caused by Bridge asking the graphics processor to resize the image cache to fit the display.  If you select the Bridge advanced preference "Use Software Rendering", you can improve a poor FSP slightly, at the expense of speed, by bypassing the graphics processor.
    The test
Visit this web page and download the last image ("2362x3543 pixel, 4.5 Mb") to your computer.
Browse to this image in Bridge, and view it full-screen by pressing Spacebar.  Take a screen capture, and save it as a TIFF or PSD.
Adjust your slideshow settings (Ctrl/Cmd-Shift-L), picking "Scaled to Fill", then click on "Play".  Save the screen capture, as above.
You now have two screen captures: one FSP, and one cache JPEG reference shot.  Examine them side by side at 100%, or layer them in Photoshop and use the hide layer button to flick between images.  Pay particular attention to the two left-hand photos, the sharpness check text, and the converging lines.
Make a note of your computer's operating system, graphics processor and driver version, as well as your largest display's pixel dimensions.
Post this information below, together with high quality (10) JPEGs of both screen captures, labelled FSP and REF, and any observations, so we can all see.

OK, it usually takes me a while to let the penny drop, especially when it comes to maths...
I also am busy with the transition of my new Mac pro but with al this here are my results. I include several screenshots but due to upload limit of 2 MB per image in here I downsized the original screenshots a lot, but hopefully it will be clear.
For full screen screenshots I have the asked FSP and REF but also the 100% preview in Bridge with space bar and click. Don't know what your file size is but using EOS 1Dx with 18 MP CR2 files (converted to DNG) it does take me about 1,5 - 2 seconds for both loupe and FSP to build a 100 % preview, and I seem to recall this was not very different behavior on my previous (6 year old) Mac Pro.
You are right (of course... :-) ) regarding the difference between FSP and REF, when studying closely there is a significant detail difference between the FSP and the REF. However, only the 100 % preview matches the original jpeg. The FSP file is on closer look not so good with details but the REF file is only slightly better, both are not correct and therefor the 100 % is still needed.
    Here is the FSP screenshot:
    and here the REF screenshot:
also the 100 % preview in full screen screenshot:
and finally a composed file with details from original, 100 % REF and FSP:
As said before, at first sight I can't spot significant difference between all options and the full screen (as the preview panel HQ preview) let's me spot the vast majority of unsharpness issues, hence my multiple rounds of sorting and incases of doubt the 100 % option.
So while your theory is correct I'm afraid I  (still) doubt the usefulness of this all. If neither the FSP and the REF (although the latter does show a bit better result) can match the results of the original but the 100 % does it well I don't see an easy solution for improvement.
I agree with the quality from the screenshots Curt provided, but Curt also uses the embedded thumbnail instead of HQ preview option. Depending on his needs and hard ware availability it would be nice to see new results with the HQ and monitor sized previews options enabled.
    regards
    Omke

  • Full Screen Preview Choppy/Freezing

Ok I saw another post similar to this one, but it didn't seem to be exactly the same issue...
I recently started having a seemingly random issue with my external monitor. What happens is when I am previewing a movie, the preview window IN Final Cut works just fine, but the external monitor (where the video preview is full screened) shows the video for a second, then becomes really choppy, then freezes completely. All the while the preview window in FCP is still showing the video just fine. I have tried buying new Mini Display adapters (I've now tried both DVI and VGA), I bought a new DVI cable, a new VGA cable, I hooked it up to other external monitors, and it has the problem every single time. I also recently discovered that if I switch the video playback to "Desktop Preview - Main" (where it simply full screens the preview on my laptop screen) it has the same problem! Also, my external works fine in every other regard, only previewing has an issue. And this came out of nowhere! It was working just fine, then suddenly one day this was happening. Oh, and I have tried FCP 6.0 AND 7.0, both of which produce the same result... It was also suggested I mess with the timeline video settings and so far that hasn't proved helpful either.
    I am using a MacBook Pro 10.5.8 - 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.
And like I said, I haven't changed a thing that feels like it would make this happen. It just suddenly stopped working...

Sounds like maybe it could be some sort of issue with your video card. NVidia, GTX, Radeon? Anyway, I would run a test using some a firewire I/O box. See if the problem persists sending to an external monitor from an AJA or some other breakout box.

  • Problem with full screen playback

Everything works fine until I go to preview in full screen. I hit the space bar to play the viewer and nothing happens. If I move the mouse over to where the play button is in the viewer window before the screen goes full and click where it was, it will play.
The spacebar works fine when not in full screen mode. Any ideas?
Im running FCE 3.0 in a PB 1.5 ghz with 2 gigs of ram running 10.4.8. I have not changed anything about my system that i know of (except the normal updates) since i did my last project last year and the full screen worked fine then.
    Thanks for any help.
    John

By previewing fullscreen on your Powerbook, you're stretching video that is 720x480 to fit a 1280x854 screen. Recipe for ugliness.
I'd recommend just setting your Canvas to 100% and viewing it at native resolution.
I saved a different window layout for this on my Powerbook. It has a keyboard shortcut assigned to it, so I have one layout for basic editing, and another layout to blow it up to 100% for viewing.

  • Preview bug, not responding to key strokes in full screen view immediately

I've had leopard since it was released and have been very pleased with it for the most part. I update the software regularly.
My problem is that since moving to leopard I cannot use the arrow keys (being the primary ones that I use) immediately upon going into full screen mode of preview, this is very irritating as I use many pdf files and find full screen the best view. I can get around this by pressing play in full screen then pausing and reverting to the arrow keys, but using so many pdf files this becomes very tiresome. Is there a patch for this bug?
I have a macbook with 2gb ram, and intel 2.16ghz processors.
