Preview - lost document; help!

Question

I was annotating a document in Preview, which I then closed down, saving the document. Now I can't find the document again, somehow (perhaps I saved it to the wrong folder by mistake), and it doesn't appear in the list of documents under "File>Open Recent" since I had quite a few windows open at the time. Is there any way of getting a longer "recent documents" list so I can locate it?

You could try doing a Command-F search:
1. Open a Finder window for the drive
2. Hit Command-F and from the View select as List, make sure the list view has a Date Modified column, if not use Command-J and check the box for Date Modified
3. Click the Date Modified column so the results will sort that way
4. If you can remember the name, or at least the first part of it, select Name from the drop down menu, Contains, then enter what you remember
5. Results should start appearing, and your file should be near the top
If you don't remember the name, you could try Kind instead and, presuming it was a PDF, select that from the kind's second drop down menu.
