Preview not remembering rotations
Preview was working fine up until a few days ago. Now it isn't remembering that I have rotated some pics with it. I save the change but when I open the pic again with Preview, it is back to the original orientation.
Is there a preference file I need to trash? If so, which one. (Or has Preview gotten stupider due to some other upgrade?) I am up to date on all my software updates.

Some Apple apps can use an image later on that you've used Preview to rotate;
other apps can't use it as a rotated image, and it stays essentially unchanged.
I use a different app to rotate images since across the course of when and where
my images may be used or viewed, the Preview in Tiger 10.4.11 (10.4.2, etc) did
not permanently 'fix rotations' in place. Some email and other apps would see the
images as un-rotated. And the mileage would vary depending on who'd received it.
I found after an upgrade from Panther 10.3.9 the problem began with Tiger 10.4.x
and this was the same in a computer that shipped from Apple with Tiger installed.
So, I have used a free running image editor, ToyViewer since it was first available
even before the Preview rotation issue with subsequent "failure to stick" changes.
And several full reinstalls from scratch later, for other purposes, have not changed
how the Preview in Tiger 10.4.x fails to save rotations in images; all image types
when they are exported from the realm of Apple apps that support Preview changes.

There are downloads specific to 10.6, 10.5, 10.4, etc; also previous versions.
The Help files are built-in( & used to be readable online.) There is a rational way
the app can find files you are saving changed items to, once you start using it.
And there are tools; correction capabilities, that are fairly good for a nice price.
Since I don't use iPhoto and have more than one camera, my filing system and
use of editing features are at a minimum; although iPhoto may provide a better
fix to the rotation issue, it is a full application and filing system. I file by date and
to DVD, so the iPhoto system for more than one camera is largely a waste to me.
There may be a command-line way to fix Preview's non-sticking rotation issue.

when you start using iCloud on any iOS device and enable find my iPhone, this prevents a new user from using it, and also prevents anyone from using the phone
as it is locked to previous owners account ,this is also the case if when a phone is lost or stolen.
the only way around this is to have the previous owner reset their apple id by going to @ applied.apple.com
if they are unable to do this, then the only other way around this is to have the previous owner get a copy of their original receipt and call apple support who can then lift this lock if they get a copy of the receipt

I have a lot of money on my Apple ID but when I try to buy something it ask for my security questions that I do not remember the answers to. I also don't have access to the email I used to set up my Apple ID but I do know the password how do I fix this ?
You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, clicking here and picking a method for your country, and filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

I have an IPad mini and I changed the Apple ID and the password almost one year ago and, for a while, a message asking me to sign in to ICloud pops- up constantly. My ICloud account is registered with an old email address and password. I do not remember the password to my ICloud account, and ID address that my ICloud account is registered under is an old email adress which is deleted right now (the old mail account is deleted). I don’t have a rescue email adress and I don’t know the answers to the security questions, so I have no way of changing the ICloud password. A message asking me to sign in to ICloud pops up constantly, but I always just hit cancel. However, now I am unable to access Find My IPad. How do I get my ICloud account changed and registered to be under my current Apple ID (email) and password? It is possible to set the device as New Ipad?

If you are unable to remember your password, security questions, don’t have access to your rescue address or are unable to reset your password for whatever reason, your only option is to contact Apple ID Support, upon speaking to an operator you should explain that your problem is related to your Apple ID, this way you will not be charged for assistance, even if you don’t have an AppleCare plan.
The operator will take you through some steps you may have already tried, however they need to be sure they have exhausted all usual approaches before trying to reset your account, so you should try to be helpful and show patience with the procedure.
The operator will need to verify they are speaking to the account holder and may ask you some questions that only the account holder could know, and you will need to answer them if the process is to proceed.
Once the operator has verified your identity they will send a message through to your device which contains an alpha numeric code, which you will need to read back to them.
Once this has been completed they will send an email to your iCloud email address after a period of 24 hours, so you should check that mail is enabled in your devices iCloud settings.
Upon receipt of the email, use the reset link provided to reset your password, after which you should be able to make the adjustments to iCloud that you wish to do. -
There are several sites where I now have to type in my username and password each time I return, such as turnitin.com. (I'm a teacher and use this for grading). Friefox used to be able to remember this for that site and it still works at my office where I have a windows machine. Not working on my Mac OS 10.6.8 and it is really annoying to have to retype every single time; it's not a financial site or anything so why can't the Firefox browser remember and re enter my info?
And no, turnitin does not currently support Firefox 7 but it is only up to firefox 4 and up until now firefox at least worked to remember passwords.
I looked at http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Username%20and%20password%20not%20remembered and I have checked all the recommended browser settings and am not set to private browsing; the sites where this happens are not set in exceptions to remembering, and they are not set to be cleared automatically
So, what's up and why doesn't Firefox remember passwords and usernames any longer?Now up to Firefox 8 and the problem persists. Cannot go to the www.turnitin.com page and login as I used to do -- Firefox does not remember my username or password.
Still works on Windows, and with other browsers... It would be great if a fix is available. -

You need to contact Apple to get the questions reset; this can be done by clicking here and picking a method for your country, or if that's not an option, by filling out and submit this form.

I have been experiencing several issues with my MacBook Pro Retina mid 2012. My MBPR is scheduled to go into the depot. However, I am wondering if anyone may be able to shed light on a few issues as this is the third "official" time my MBPR is going back for service ("one depot" trip; "one authorized" dealer; several in-store visits).
My Bluetooth is stating that the Bluetooth Chipset is Unknown (0). I also have had Bluetooth Preferences mysteriously change on me. In addition, while Bluetooth is off there are two serial modems turning on. I have turned them off, but they continue to pop up.
In addition, when I log in, my MBPR is not remembering me and my login name is not appearing on the slate-gray screen. The name and password are blank and the following message appears in the lower left hand corner. "login window authentication login window Name edit text has keyboard focus." As a side note, I am the only user. The login issue is a recent occurrence as we just totally wiped it again via a Command + R, and I don't believe I have an accessibility setting set to anything that would cause this, but wanted to check.
Should I be concerned here? Has anyone else had issues like this? I don't want to worry if I don't have to. I have had so many issues over the course of nine months. 5-6 wipes. Airport card replaced and I am about to pull my hair out if my MBPR doesn't come back worldly like clock work this time. I just can't send my days trying to get a $2300 product to work for me any longer. No idea what is wrong with it, but it is driving me insane. There are a ton of other warnings. Before I go through this again, can someone tell me if this is normal (all of it -- above too); or if these are symptoms is a keystroke logger or hardware issues?
I ask because originally, when my computer went in for diagnostics (more than once), Apple stated the hardware was fine (other than Airport Card -- finally). However, if I've done 5-6 total wipes; created new users; do not have sharing set-up; have not played around in Terminal; and am up-to-date with versions -- and various issues KEEP COMING BACK -- I am left wondering if a keystroke logger would be possible here?!? I thought maybe a faulty logic board, but why would diagnostics be okay, then? Not trying to be hyperbole, just desperate.
Please help me rule keystroke logger out or at least, tell me so I know, so I can take appropriate action. If you think it could be the logic board with symptoms above, that would be a great too.
All I want to do is use the computer as intended, but I can't seem to get a real answer, so after nine months -- I am turning to the communities to see if anyone -- anyone at all -- can help. The last thing I can do is have the MBPR come back from the depot and the same thing occur. Any guidance or advice would be so gratefully appreciated. -
How do I transfer an Itunes gift card from one account to another ? I do not remember my password or know my security questions.
You can't do it yourself. If you've just redeemed it and not spent any of it then you could try contacting iTunes Support and see if they can move it the other account : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

I just created an iCloud email and I want to use that email for my iTunes account as well. I need help switching the old apple ID because I do not remember anything associated with that email and I don't know the security questions or the login for that old email.
You cannot do that. The AppleID you used to create the iCloud account is an active primary email address. The email address you created with the iCloud account is also an active primary email address (all Apple domain email address automatically become AppleIDs as well). You cannot replace the primary email address on one active AppleID with the primary email address on another, active AppleID.
You can use your iCloud email/AppleID with iTunes, but it will be a separate account, so all your previous purchases remain tied to the other AppleID you have.
I don't understand your statement that you could not remeber your old AppleID password, as you would have had to use it to create the iCloud account in the first place (the first step of creating the iCloud account required you to login with your existing AppleID and password)? -
I cant seem to be able to change the secutity questions on my minor daughters itunes account. I set the account up but I do not remember adding the security questions and they do not make sense to me. It says that the alternate account it would be sent to is@ me.com but I can not figure our how to get to it to retreive the email to reset the questions. My daughters account may have recently been hacked so I am trying to change all passwords. I changed the itunes account and added another email but I still can not change security questions in case I ever need them.

The reset link on an account will only show if there is a rescue email address on it, alternate email addresses are different and not used for resetting them. If she has a rescue email address on her account then steps 1 to 5 half-way down this page will give you a reset link on the account : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312
Navigate to appleid.apple.com using your web browser.
Click "Manage your account"
When prompted, sign in using your Apple ID and password.
Click Password & Security
You'll be asked to answer 2 of your 3 security questions before you can make any modifications. If you are unable to remember your answers, you can choose to send an email to your rescue email to reset your security questions.
If she doesn't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer your questions) then you will need to contact Support in your country to get the questions reset.

You cannot delete the account from the server (partly to prevent the username from becoming available again and some-one else using it to pretend to be you).. Having disengaged your devices from it, go to http://icloud.com and delete any data in there such as contacts and calendars. Then just ignore it.

Very Frustrated and Wasted Money Please Help Me...... What do you mean by encryption code?
- Do yu mean the for some reason when you want to restore from backup iTunes asks for the password?
- Do you mean that it has a screen-lock passcode and you do not remember the passscode?
