Preview of HTML document in KM Navigation iView

Hi all!
I need your help. I would like to create layout set which would be able to display tree on the left side and preview of HTML document on the right side of content area. If I click on HTML document in the tree I need to see his preview. I thought that I can resolve this by "Explorer and Preview" profile. But unfortunely it doesn't work. Has someone any experience with the profile? Or can someone advice to me how create new layout set?

Hi Saurabh,
Using the presentation settings in Details can sometimes
be tricky since it remembers the context of which iView
called it. Make sure you open the details out of the iView
in which you want the customizations to be in effect.
Otherwise, changing it in the configuration is a
bit more straightforward in its effects.

I have created a KM navigation which is pointing the folder inside the documents repository. This folder contains HTML and XML files. It is rendering fine. But, when I click on the file links in KM Navigation iView, it is opening in new window.Here I need to open in same window. How can I acheive this?. Please help me.

Need to Download documents from Km which are shown thru Navigation iview

HI,
I have created a KM navigation Iview and gave the path of documents which are stored in KM.
Now the documents are in KM and can be shown by this iview.
When i click on any document, it is getting opened automatically.
But i dont want this way, when the user clicks on document a pop-up should be given to download the document.
can i know how is it possible?
Also just beside the document, when i click on breadcrumb i can see many options like save, copy, rename....etc.
where i dont what to shown this all options beside documents.
Can you please tell me how to remove this breadcrumb for some particular documents.

Hello, you can achieve this creating a custom layout set. To do so, go to
System Administration > System Configuration > Knowledge Management > Content Management > User Interface > Settings > Layout Set
Choose a layout set - Consumer Explorer for example - check it and select Advanced Copy
Under Scope of Duplication leave only Collection Renderer Settings checked
Under Naming Conventions fill the blanks as your needs (I usually add company name as prefix)
Click on Execute, your layout set is now created.
Search for it and click to display its properties, there you'll find the four main items that compose a LayoutSet:
- Layout Controller
- Collection Renderer
- Resource Renderer
- Commands for Details Menu
You wanna work on the Collection Renderer, notice it's a custom one created during the copy. Select it to edit to chage settings.
Put the following entry under Displayed Properties:
rnd:icon,rnd:displayname(contentLink),rnd:command(command=download/style=icon),contentlength,modified
Save.
On your KM Navigation iView set the Layout Set property with this one you've just created.
This should do the basics you're asking:
- a link to download the documents
- no context menu with undesired commands
In this scenario I've eliminated complety the context menu, if you want to have the menu with just
some options you must work on UI Commands and UI Commands Group, which I suggest doing after
you have basics knowledge on layout sets only..
You can find on SDN lots of documents and threads about KM User Interface, have a special look into Layout Set, Collection Renderers and UI Commands/Groups

How to hide expired KM documents from authors in some navigation iviews?

Hi there,
I have one (almost philosophical) question: when Time Based Publishing is enabled, only users with read/write permission can see expired documents (I mean, documents that have passed its validfrom date). So far, so good.
This happens for all iviews (KM Navigation iviews) in the entire portal. But... what if it could be needed only in a few ones?
Think about this scenario: you have an iView where ALL users can see documents or news (for example, in a Home tab where users access when enter portal). A user with no write permissions will see only valid documents, which is OK.
However, a user with write permissions will see not only the valid docs (or news) but also the expired ones!
Don't you think is a little bit confussing for the autor? Besides the fact that this iview perhaps is showing a LOT expired documents...
Of course, these author users should be able to see expired documents in other iviews, for example, in other portal tabs...
Is this a real scenario? If yes, how it can be achieved with KM (We're on 7.4 SP6)

Hi Lorcan, thanks for the tip.... but... I don't think that would be possible (AFAIK), because all users that access to portal are authenticated users (we're using Windows Integrated Authentication).
However, I've found this SAP 1836779 - Resource is not getting deindexed after lifetime has expired, I'm dealing it with OSS.
I'll let you know any update.

Using .xsl in javascript for portal .html (document iview)

Hi,
I prepared .html document has javascript code in it.
Javascript code uses activex object to process .xsl for xml operation.
I used html document in document iview but problem occured.
I think activex object cause the problem or i gave wrong address for xsl document.
If i place xsl document in same folder with html document, how can it be addressed (xsl path)?
Is there sample html document using javascript code that uses xsl and activex object in it?
And is it tested as document iview with no problem?

I just completed designing a website for my restaurant using Dreamweaver 8. I included my menu as part of the website and now wanted to print it for customer use in the restaurant. The document is in html format.
You can only print your source code from Dreamweaver. I don't have DW8 installed anymore, but i think it's: File > Print (or Print Code).
If you want to print how it looks with the HTML rendered, then print it from a browser.

Can we use same docmnt iview to open selected document frm Navigation iview

I am trying to use set of two iviews, one for KM navigation iview and another for the document which will be selected on navigation iview.
All i am looking for is, when user select any document on navigation iview, document is open in right side(in one document iview). I dont want to create them as links(i mean one to one mapping between document and iviews).
If you have come across similar scenario, please help.

Create navigation iviews to show differents documents from the same folder

Does any body knows how can i create navigations iviews that show differents documents from the same folder? This is my situation i have a folder that include documents for diferents countries, i want create a navigation iview that show only the documents for Canada from this folder.

The only other option is to give user access using taxonomy. But it seems like a lot of extra work to keep documents in the same directory. anyway, here is the overview of steps:
1. create index (SA > System Configuration > Knowledge Mgmnt > Index Administration)
2. create categories within the taxonomy.
3. define Query on each category. (Content Management > Classification > Taxonomy Query Builder)
4. create property: property namespace, property group. (SA > System Configuration > Knowledge Mgmnt > Content Mgmnt > Global Services > Property Metadata)
5. assign props to the docs.
6. Schedule the crawler to create classification index.
7. classify docs so that docs actually go recide in the categories
8. Create role, page and KM Navigation iViews for end user to browse the taxonomy instead of going directly to the repository.
9. restrict permissions on the taxonomy for different user groups.

How to use quick link property in the km navigation iview

Hi all
I have requirement.
T structured lables
one on top and rest 12 at the bottem in 3 columns, 4 rows.
when i click the lable it should connect to a respective folder in the KM
this entire page have to be connected to a folder link...ie when i click this folder link this page with T structured lables have to come and when i click each lable respective folders should open...
so for that i have created one KM Document iview(this is like heading in the page) and 12 KM Navigation iviews(pointing to respective folders)
after that which layout will be suitable for this in page layout???
if i add all iviews into a one single page
how to connect lables to folder???
one of my friend have suggested to use '"quicklink'" property along with html page...???
how to use it ???
so pls do help me???

I have done with HTML page and attached to Km document iview.and i have my 12 Km navigation i views.
Then create static Links on HTML page to navigate to other iviews. It can be created by using the Insert link in Km tool of the html editor available in Km. For opening a url iview from a link you can write this for executing the 'donavigate method' to open the iview you needed.???

Portal runtime Error in KM Navigation iView

Hi,
I have created a KM Navigation iview and assigned it to a role.
When I preview it via portal content, everything is fine.
When I login as an end user with that role (to which this iview is assigned) this list of documents in that folder is shown. But when I click on any of the doc to view that, it gives me
Portal runtime error.
An exception occurred while processing your request. Send the exception ID to your portal administrator.
Exception ID: 04:09_22/07/11_0133_7786050
Refer to the log file for details about this exception.
I have already assigned the Full control permission for this role to that document folder.
Is there any more setting that needs to be done??

Hey Atul,
Check the URL Generator Service for the host and alternative host. See to it that these URLs have the same domain name as that of the Portal. Also, if there has been a KM database copy lately, see to it that the document is not pointing to the server in the other environments to which you as an admin could have access to but not as an end user. So, for that, again check the URL Generator Service. I am just throwing in possibilities, it had happened with me once.
Use HTTPwatch to verify what URL is the iView trying to point to OR I guess your logs might have already told you that.

Calling KM navigation iview from ABAP

Hi All,
I am trying to call the KM Navigation iview from ABAP webdynpro view. it is like implement the same functionality as currently available for Repository filters through ABAP coding. I have to create a new Folder in the KM and call the KM Navigation iview for that specific folder. I know KM has provided few new webservices which I can use to create a new folder in the KM repository but I am unable to open the KM navigation iview with the newly created folder through coding.
I am using the navigate_absolute Portal Navigation method to call the KM Navigation iview from ABAP code. Currently it is opening iview with the folder set as root folder in the iview property but I need to open it with the newly created folder through the code. The same sort of functionality is implemented from java code by passing the Business parameter with navigate_absolute method. The problem with ABAP code is that I don't know what is the exact format of the Business parameter to be passed.
In the java code the Business parameter is passed as
Uri=/documents/cprxrpm/46A73F1FEED21B0DE10000000A4241A8:DFM_450_MIT3_SAURABH/RIH/47B44774254208CCE10000000A4241A8:wonder-item-01 :WONDER-ITEM-01
Does anybody have idea how can i implement the same scenario in ABAP and what should be the format of the to be passed as Business Parameter from ABAP code ?

In the abap web dynpro view create an exit out bound plug with url as parameter.
In your wddoinit call the the url. The url can be accessed by previewing the km iview in content management. Hope this helps.

How to set the size of popups from KM Navigation Iview

Hello guys
Does any of you know how I can set the size of the window that pops up when you click on a resource/file in a KM navigation iview?
I have tried to enter "width=100,height=100" (without the quotes) in the Window Features property of the KM Navigation Iview, but it does not influence the size of the popups.
Any suggestions to what could be wrong? Or is it not possible at all to control the size of that popup?

I cheched yesterday if I could find the command, sorry I couldn't.
I also realized that the layout generates html link tags (ie. <a />) for the resource links, no javascript open link functions (ie. window.open), wich doesn't alowed (as far as I know) to give size to the pop-up window.
So to make the link of the resource (gived by the displayname(contectlink) property set) I think you would have to create (develop) the layout, so the link will be rendered with window_size.
You have other option, you can take off the "contentLink" setting. and add the download command, so the user who want to open / save the document can click on this command and do it in their PC.
I.E, Create a copy of the download, and add this to the Collection render displayed porpeties:
rnd:command(command=Z_download/style=link)
You ca also use and icon to represent the download (you can set that icon in the command)
I.E, rnd:command(command=Z_download_icon/style=icon)
This last options represents a problem with the km-only-read content like xml files generaded by xml forms, it can only be readed in the km-portal.

Search iView instead of KM Navigation iView

Hi,
the guide "How To... Tune the Performance of Knowledge Management" recommends to use Search iViews instead of KM Navigation iViews for performance reasons.
Can someone please explain how to configure these iViews? The Search iViews we use provide an input field which we don't need in this case. How can a search string be submitted, so that a Search iView directly displays the content of a folder as search result? Is there any documentation available?

There you find a sample how to start the search iView with a direct result list, by adding "QueryString=*" to the query parameter for the iview.

How to pass the "path" dynamically to KM navigation iView ?

This is my issue:
I have a WD Java iView, with a data table.
In the same page, I have a KM navigation iview too.
Conceptually, each row in this table, have some documents in a CM Repository asociated.
This repository has subfolders for each master data in the table.
(example: imagine a table with material master data, and a repository with a subfolder for each material,
and inside of it, several unstructure documents about this material.
Then, I need to call a KM Navigation iview when click a table row, passing parameters, in special the "path".
I am using this code in my action (triggered from webdynpro iview)
     WDPortalNavigation.navigateAbsolute("ROLES://portal_content/com.stk.demos.folders.zz_demos/com.stk.demo.ch.TEST_CH/com.stk.demo.ch.Listar_Docs",
     WDPortalNavigationMode.SHOW_EXTERNAL, (String)null, (String)null,

Partially it works, the window open and show the navigation iview, but...
in the root directory (or directory indicated in iView harcoded properties);
But I need pass the path !
How can I call that iView, dinamically using a parameter, the path (property ID: path)
to the KM navigation iView, in order to open initially in a indicated path?)

Hi Leandro,
You can create your own proxy IView and then redirect it to KM Navigation IView.
This way you can dynamically change the path.

HTML document in portal

Dear friends,
I got an issue like, my client need to put their HTML document into the portal, its around 300 files. So how to put htis html document into portal. Is it possible to put the html document or not, If not how to make appear HTML document in portal.

hi
first you need upload the html files int oKM content then you need to create a iviews based on this content present in KM content
step 1: uploading the html files
go to content administration->KMcontent->at the right hand side select the document folder->
here u create a new folder by selecting folder menu->new->folder
then your folder will be created under documents folder
doble click on this (now you under documents/your folder path)
under you folder
select folder menu->new->upload
give name(ex new.html ),description, and select browse to upload the file
follow the same procedure for all the html files
this indicates the u have uploaded all the files properly
now creating a ivews based on the html documents uploaded in KM content
content administration->portal content->select your folder->right click ->new->iview->select KM document iview template->give iview name &id etc
then open the iview for editing
there u can find a property called " path to document" give the value as " \document\<your folder name where u uploaded the html files under KM content>\file name(ex:new.html>
like that u can create all the iviews based on the html documents stored under km content

Anonymous access to KM Navigation Iview

In order to obtain an anonymous access to a KM folder, I followed the instructions in the guide How to configure an anonymous access to KM.
Unfortunately I still have 2 problems:
1) connecting to the portal by http://<server name etc.>/anonymous I can see the folder and the documents list, but if I try to open a document clicking on it I get a page with the message 401 Unauthorized by the J2EE Engine
2) in the KM Navigation Iview I cannot see the icons (those of the documents type, that one of the folder and so on), and when opening the iview I have a logon request for every icon
Someone can help me?

if you implement everything according to SAP Note 837898 (especially the URL Generator Service entries and the Authentication Schema of the "hidden" iviews) you should get rid of this problems.
