Preview on Device

Hello,
For a while now i've not been able to preview any of my folios through the preview on device setting via the Folio builder. I have the most upto date builder panel. Anyone had this sort of problem?
Thanks in advance.

This is what I get when I click make new folio. No dialog box for viewer version. See below.

Preview on [device name] option not available on Folio Overlays

In v20 its available in the Folio Builder panel (iPad only, I think). You have to plug to your Mac to the iPad with the USB cable and starting the Adobe Content Viewer app on the iPad first. Otherwise check iTunes on your Mac if your iPad is listed under "Devices".
Are you using InDesign CS5.5 or InDesign CS6?
You have to be up to date with the Overlay Creator panel to v20 as well. Check for that.
Recently I had no chance with InDesign CS5 and the v20 tools installed on a Mac with OSX 10.5.8.

  • Announcement - Preview on device failures.

DPS services is shutting down the acrobat.com bridge service until we  can roll out a hot fix that resolves the current situation. Customers  are currently experiencing problems uploading and downloading content  from acrobat.com.  We are working on a hotfix to remedy the situation.
The end user impact is that preview on device using the generic content  viewer for folios that are not published will not work until the hot fix  is deployed and the bridge is re-enabled. Users will be able to preview  on desktop and any published content will continue to be fulfilled to  branded viewers. In order to preview on device customers will need to  log into the digital publishing portal, publish folios as private/free  and log in to the Adobe Content viewer. The published folios will be  available for download to device.
I’ll provide more info on the expected hot fix as it becomes available.

Can you share what version of the content viewer you currently have installed?  I don't know of any expected differences with the view button handling, but wonder benefit from knowing if there were.
    Thanks,
    Michelle

  • Use Preview on Device for Android on Mac - how to make it working?

We are using preview on iPad through USB connection on daily basis, but now we need to preview on Android as well.
I've tried setup on following page, but it's not working for me - i have USB Debuging enabled (it's nicely hidden on Jelly Bean 4.2.2 on our Nexus 7), but i can't see device in Folio Builder panel in preview menu (yes, i have Adobe Content viewer as front app)

    any idea, experience?
    Thanks
    Martin

Neil Enns - Adobe - We have followed these steps exactly.
USB Debugging is enabled... but the device NEVER appears in the dropdown...
We are using the native viewer app, exactly as you have described, and we still cannot get the preview on device to work?? IS there some other process we can use because the instructions in the link you just provided are not working at all.
    See my comment above:
"Tried everything suggested in this thread but with no luck.
The mac we are building on is running OSX 10.9.3 and InDesign CC (up to date)
Android tablet is a samsung note, running Android 4.4.2 (developer mode / USB debugging enabled)"

  • Preview on Device support for iPad

I've just created our custom Adobe Content Viewer for iPad with new Viewer Builder and installed new tools and folio builder. From my understanding i need some third party app, which will allow me access files on iPad - i'm using PhoneView. So, my setup is that PhoneView is running, custome Adobe Content Viewer is running in foreground on iPad, but Folio Builder panel still don't offer me "preview on iPad". What i should do for enabling this feature? And yes, i'm on Mac...
    Thanks for help

Hm, seems that statement "However, Preview on Device for the iPad requires a third-party utility such as Phone Disk." should be more like "However, Preview on Device for the iPad requires a third-party utility Phone Disk." - with this utility i can make preview on device working, when i'll set connection root for Adobe Viewer.

  • Error when trying to preview on device : unable to copy files to device

I have  an error with the device preview function.
Everything is installed and has worked 2-3 times, but painfully.
An error is often displayed and says unable to copy files to the device.
    What is the problem?
    Have you this error?

Are you using this function without problem ?
Is your custom viewer built with developper or enterprise certificate ?

  • Preview on device from folio overlays panel is fuzzy

I'm new to DPS so I'm sure there's a setting somewhere that I haven't checked, but why is the text fuzzy on my iPad when I preview my article? I have a retina iPad, my document is 1024x768, and I'm using the "Preview on XYZ iPad" function at the bottom of the Folio Overlay panel. What am I doing wrong? It looks fine if I preview the folio in the Folio Builder panel--what's the difference?

When you click Preview at the bottom of the Overlays panel, you preview the layout, not the article or the folio. When you preview the layout, you get PNG or JPG image format, not PDF. For the best preview experience, use the Folio Builder panel to preview either the article or folio. That way, you use the image format of the articles. If your article uses PDF image format, it likely won't be fuzzy. And if you see something fuzzy when previewing, let us know, and we'll help you figure it out.

  • Xoom + Mac, preview on device ?

i think i followed step by step the instructions on http://help.adobe.com/en_US/digitalpubsuite/using/WS9293e1fb3b977c5c7b1f65ad12f28224932-7f f6.html
but i still can't get my xoom numbers to show under the "preview on desktop" menu on the mac.
Is there some information i miss ? I've heard some of you had success with this.

Sometimes later, i try this on another mac, mac Os10.6 : works fine, on the first try, i can see my tablet's number appear under indesign's preview menu. (which is further than what i did on the last try.
Problem arising : the proxy folio loader was stuck at ± 25% and nothing happened.
I had to force quit Adobe Viewer to be able to launch again, and it then seemed fine.

  • Print Preview of smartform  with device type EPESCP9

    Hi all,
I have created a z smartform to print commercial invoice.
I am using dot matrix print Epson FX-2170 to print invoice.
For this printer the device type is EPESCP9.
So I created an output device having device type EPESCP9.
I have assigned the required Format type to the device type and the page format which is assigned in the smarform to the Format type.
But I am not getting any print preview of the invoice when  I select this output device.
I am only able to get print preview when I select an ouput device having device type SAPWIN.
Please provide solution to get preview in device type EPESCP9.

2.The page format and Printer settings are correctly done ,then it will come. But,the main problem is ,the page format is not supposed to match. Please check that page format in smrtform and Printer settings.
3.If posible see those settings in I18n also.

  • How to preview on the device (iPad) ?

With the last update of Folio Producer Tools / Folio Builder Panel, it's said we can preview a local folio directly on the iPad.
I have tried that with a local folio, but the folio panel only shows "displays on the desktop".
My iPad is connected on the computer on which I am working, but synchronized with another computer. Is that a problem ?
    Thanks for your help

    Hello:
I have bought the PhoneDisk and I followed these steps:
Preview on Device for iPad (Mac OS only)
Preview on Device for the iPad will be available only when the newest version of the Adobe Content Viewer is available in the Apple Store.
On your Mac OS computer, download a utility that allows your computer to transfer files to your iPad. Phone Disk is available at www.macroplant.com/phonedisk/.
Connect your iPad to your computer.
Start your utility, and make sure that it’s directed to the Adobe Content Viewer. For example, if you’re using Phone Disk, click the Phone Disk icon in the upper right tray, and then click [iPad name] > Change Connection Root > Adobe Viewer.
On your iPad, start Adobe Content Viewer (v1.9 or later).
In the Folio Builder panel in InDesign, select the folio you want to preview, and then choose the Preview on [iPad name] from the Preview menu at the bottom of the panel. The folio is copied from your computer to your iPad.
But my iPad is not able to be seen by the Folio Builder (see images attached)... I have the updated versions of the Folio Builder and the latest Adobe Viewer for iPad.  ANy ideas?

  • Help please! In InDesign DPS, my folio files are fine, but when previewing, random elements disappear?

I have been working on these files now for a long time. All of a sudden, when I updated my Folio recently and previewed it, random elements disappeared from view. Images, text, buttons, all are just not visible at random. Please help me out as I need to get this published ASAP!
I tried resetting my preferences, and I updated my DPS Tools... not sure what else to do.
    Thank you.

  • IPad not showing up as Preview Option in Folio Builder

I'm currently using Adobe DPS (Windows), and trying to preview my folio in an iPad. I've got the Content Viewer app open on the iPad, am signed in, and am also signed in in Folio Builder. And of course, I've got the iPad plugged into the computer. After plugging in the iPad, an arrow appears next to Preview, which I assume would have been the iPad showing up as an option. But on clicking the arrow, I only get the option to open the content viewer on my desktop. Has anyone experienced this issue?

Preview on Device for the iPad/iPhone works only on Mac OS computers, not Windows. If you sign in to the Adobe Content Viewer on the iPad using the same Adobe ID used to sign in to the Folio Builder panel, you can download your folios from the cloud.

    Hello Alexander,
I also tried to install netbeans and Java Me, and got stuck on the same problem as Vinnie: the menu item `Device Selector` is grayed besides most other items in the same menu.
The grayed menu items in menu Netbeans/Tools/Java ME are:
              WMA Console,
              Java ME SDK Update Center,
              Custom Device Skin Creator
              Active Device Manager
The only one that is not grayed is: 'Device Database Search'.
I made sure the device_manager is running. You asked Vinnie to run emulator.exe  from the commandline. I did and it outputs the help instructions.
I like to provide you with the log files, but how to do that? They are quite big! Dou you want me to paste the contens of the files in here?
Thanks for giving it your time.

    Hi Andre,
If the parameter USER_SETTINGS  is set ('X'), SAP Smart Forms copies the user defaults for the Spool Control.
If it is not set, SAP Smart Forms instead evaluates the following parameters of the structure for the output options ( SSFCOMOP ):
    Printer settings ( TDDEST , TDPRINTER , RQPOSNAME )
    TDIMMED (Print immediately)
    TDDELETE (Delete after output)
    Try setting this Blank.
