Preview pdf annoying issue

I have to work with a lot of pdf's, and I prefer the use of preview (it's quick and simple). But a lot of pdf's that have boldface font don't show up right in preview. In Reader, they show up as bold. In Preview, the font style of the word changes (looks really awkward, and doesn't stick out as well as bold). Does anyone else have this issue, and is there a way to fix it?
Also, if I'm working with a word document, and I save it as a pdf, I get the same issue. All words in boldface don't retain said boldface in Preview, but they are fine in Reader.

Are there specific fonts that cause this problem? Usually it is a font issue.

Repetitive PDF creation issue in PREVIEW (Terminal option to not save?)

i have a real annoying issue in Preview which i generally find to be a model of efficiency. it is for pdf creation and goes like this:
i scan 50 images into Preview in order to create a pdf to send to someone.
i rotate them and make sure they are properly ordered and oriented.
i select them all and go to print pulldown menu item
then i select the pdf button at the bottom lower left (this is redundant and would be really nice to eliminate by providing a PRINT TO PDF pulldown)
anyway, then i create the pdf and i try to CLOSE OUT of Preview.
however - since i don't need the images any more i am not MANUALLY SAVING ALL THESE IMAGES by CLICKING SAVE on each of the 50 images (this is a pain too and would really be nice to fix)
/instead/ what i have to do is to click DELETE on all 50 images in order to simply close out of Preview after having saved my PDF.
is there a better way to do this and if so what is it.
also, why isn't preview smart enough to not act like adobe software and to give me a "Don't Save All" or "Delete All" button instead of giving me carpal tunnel confirming this on each image.
is there a Yes <> No switch in Terminal that will turn this off??

You can open the PDF in Acrobat and save to Acrobat 4 compatibility, either through optimize or preflight. I would also ask the client why they want Acrobat 4 compatibility.

LiveCycle Designer 8.0 preview pdf issue

Is anyone having a problem when creating a form, then using the preview pdf to check the layout? Everything is showing up, but you can't do anything, such as filling in fields,drop down the lists, check radio buttons, etc. If I save the file, then open it up in reader, everything works as it should.

Hello Mark,
It sounds like the PDF is rendered as a non-interactive form.
1. Go to File | Form Properties.
2. Click on the Defaults tab (could be Preview tab if using newer version of Designer).
3. Set the Preview Type to Interactive Form.
Does this resolve your problem?

Pdf printing issue in macbook pro

hi everyone,
since i got a macbook pro, i found this problem. it doesn't respond to command-P (printing) at all. i removed and downloaded the newest version of adobe reader, i reset printing system, updated the printer driver,.. i can't print. i use iMac to print pdf. what could i do to fix this? would it be hardware problem or software problem?

I too have an issue w/ my Macbook Pro keyboard (2nd time since I've owned it) although this one isn't quite as severe as the one reported.
I started noticing over the past couple of weeks that when I type, I start hearing this odd "click" sound every once in a while. As I started to pay more attention to it, it appears that every time I hit the letter 'E', it sounds like the plastic beneath the key is loose or breaking (?). They key itself feels loose and I'm worried that its going to pop off. (this has happened on my Dell Inspiron a few times and its been an annoying issue ever since as it regularly pops off now).
Is this something covered under Applecare? (my previous keyboard issue was a couple of dead keys including the spacebar that required a new keyboard).
Also (side question), when I go to the concierge page to setup a time to visit an Apple Genius, there's GUEST and MEMBER login. Is Member login for those who have Applecare? If so, then what would the member number be? The Applecare agreement # doesn't seem to take.

Table not showing up in Preview PDF

Hello all,
I am having an issue with a form that I am making in Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES.
The project that I am working on deals with making a standarized quoteing template to make getting quotes out faster and whatnot.
The particular quote template that i am making will have the same information in the table for the Description column.
So I made the table using the Insert Table wizard and added the information that will not change from quote to quote. *I took actual info off for legal reasons*
So I got the table looking the way i wanted it to, and thought great let me check it out in the "Preview PDF" tab. So I clicked the preview tab and scrolled down to the table and only the headings show up "/ *You will see this in the pictures below*
In "Design View".
In "Preview PDF".
Any ideas?
I would appreciate any help that you guys can give me!

PDF Output Issue

Hi All ,
I am facing a strange issue in PDF output format.
When I preview PDF output i am seeing some special character like *0E-00001111232* . The actual value should be *$ 2,343,500*.
When ever i face this issue immediately if i download and upload the same template its working fine. But after 15 days or 1 week again i am facing the same issue(On a regular interval).
Its not only for the number data type columns also for some varchar columns.
I checked the xml output its coming correctly , but only in preview i am facing this issue.
BIP Version : 10.1.3.4.1.
If any one faced with same issue please share your approach.

I guess that might be what format style i have to select for a 11" X 17" report.
or do i have to create a custom style.

Preview PDF causes fatal error

Whenever I click on the Preview PDF tab, I get a visual c++ debug popup window saying that the program has terminated "abnormally". Is there a known bug, or is this an isolated issue with my installation? My work around is to just save the document and view the pdf in adobe reader.

Do you work with the Designer opened for a long time ?
Is your form too long ?
Do you do frequent copy-paste operation in the script?
Do you have many depenedent fields?

No Preview PDF tab in LiveCycle Designer

I have both LiveCycle Designer ES3 and Adobe Pro 11 installed on my computer. I am unable to select the Preview PDF option from the View menu item and there is no Preview PDF tab next to the Design View tab like there used to be. I can't recall what could have happened, but I know I had it before.
All I can find when I search on this issue is that I must have both LiveCycle and Adobe Pro or Adobe Reader installed. Like I said, I have Adobe Pro, so that isn't the issue.
Can anyone help?

Thanks. I tried that and it did not work. Ultimately I fixed it by uninstalling Reader and installing the latest version.

10.6.7 - general pdf creation issues?

I wondered whether anyone else had run into this issue after updating to 10.6.7 when using pdfs created by Preview - perhaps related to the pdf/font issue.
If it is generally happening, then the 10.6.7 pdf-font issue has an even larger
impact than previously described:
1. Open a pdf document in Preview
2. Select a region and save to clipboard
3. Save as a new pdf file
4. Then try importing it as a "Picture" into any of the new Office 2011 apps: Word, PPT, etc.
This crashes my office 2011 apps (latest version, 14.02) But NOT any earlier version of Office (2008. etc.), which may not do as much pdf checking.
Before the 10.6.7 upgrade (ie, 10.6.6), this never happened with Office 2011.
Acrobat complains when opening the Preview-created pdfs about 'missing fonts', so I suspect some sort of pdf creation issue.
Any fixes (besides the previously suggested one of downgrading to 10.6.6)
If it's a real bug (not just local to my system), then it's a more far-reaching one than previously described.

That is wrong because it only involves OpenType Postscript fonts.
The only solution offered so far is to "downgrade by doing Archive & Install" and

You wouldn't have to do that either. That is the point of a Combo update. You only need to apply the one you want. It includes all of the previous updates.

Preview PDF in Livecycle 8.0

I have just had Adobe Reader version 9 installed on my work laptop and i now have an issue with the preview PDF tab, a message comes up with an error saying i have to have reader version 8 or 9 installed.

No answer but i have a similar problem. I read on a forum that an ActiveX setting may have been disabled and a reinstallation (of LiveCycle)would reset this to default. Is there a better way?

LiveCycle 8 - Preview PDF

I have just installed Adobe Professional version 8 and found that even though Acrobat reader (the pro version) is loading fine with documents either locally or through a browser, LiveCycle 8 will not allow the use of the Preview PDF in the view settings. It is greyed out.
I have checked and the "file system browser" is checked in the tools, option, document handling, file management section of LiveCycle.
I also checked on the edit preferences section of adobe acrobat profession 8 (reader) to see if the browser option was selected there as well. It was.
I am at a loss to identify why I cannot use the Preview PDF in LiveCycle.
I have removed all free reader versions of adobe and have uninstalled and reinstalled as well as repaired the adobe pro installation with no positive results.
Please explain.

I had the same issue - drove me nuts!
Ended up solving it by:
opening Adobe Acrobat Professional, go into Edit menu, Preferences, Internet and the box that has Display PDF in browser may/may not be ticked.
If it isn't, tick it and save then go back into Adobe LiveCycle and should be ok. if it already is ticked, un-tick it and save, then go back in and tick again and save - don't know why this works, but it did for me.

Failed to load an application resource (internal error) - error message when previewing pdf in program

Hi,
I keep getting this error message when trying to Preview PDF in program "Failed to load an application resource (internal error)". I haven't changed anything in LiveCycle, so not sure why this is happening. Have had this issue for the past few months. I've been working around it, but it's kind of a pain. Would prefer to view forms in program. Suggestions to fix this?

I fixed mine! In Reader 9 and 10.0 I had disabled the ReadOutLoud feature as it kept popping up whenever it felt like it, and I don't need ReadOutLoud. What worked for me was first to purge the system of Reader 9 - the uninstall routine leaves stuff behind. Then I went into the Reader 10 program folder, located the plug_ins sub folder, and renamed it to oldplug_ins. Then I ran the repair routine which recreated the plug_ins subfoler.. All now works, except that the <expletive deleted> ReadOutLoud is up to its old tricks again, but I can live with that for now.

Problem with preview PDF files on Windows 7 32bit

in my office I have a problem with preview PDF files on my computers. The files are allright, but if I select a file and click on preview mode after ~ 10sec operation system write something "Preview this file is corrupt for PDF Preview Handler wrong". On other 64bit computers with same programs the preview is work. I try uninstall all Adobe soft (Reader, Flash), clean all Adobe data from folders in root and in register, but it is not solve this problem. On Microsoft forums wrote me, that the problem is probably with AR plugin.
So, can someone help me?

Why certain functionality works in Adobe Acrobat, but not in LiveCycle Preview PDF?

I have some simple logic in a LiveCycle form that will hide a subform when I click a checkbox. When I save as dynamic PDF and open in Adobe Acrobat 9, it works fine, but when I test the .xdp in LiveCycle Preview PDF it does not. I'm new to JavaScript and have wasted some time troubleshooting what I thought was a problem, only to find out it was working. Am I doing something that is not capatible with Preview PDF?
Attached below are images of hierarchy, design, and code. I realize the hierarchy is more complex than it needs to be. It is an excerpt I built to test this functionality, based on the full document.

Did you made the form as Dynamic and Interactive in the preview..
     1) Goto File menu -> Form Properties and select Defaults tab. Change the Default Render Format as Dynamic XML form
     2) Select the Preview Tab. Set the Preview type as "Interactive Form" and Preview Adobe XML form as Dynamic XML form
     3) Finally while saving the PDF select Save As Type as "Adobe Dynamic XML Form".
