Preview printing to Black and White?

for some dumb reason (either me or the UI....) i can't figure out how to set up a preset for a single page in black and white out of preview.
can anyone help?

With the Preview print dialog set to Show Details, you should be able to select the vendor menu where the B&W / Grayscale setting is located. Or if you are using Apple's AirPrint driver, then the B&W setting is present in the print dialog as shown below.

Using the Preview application as a reference, if you select to print and only see a limited amount of information, you need to press the Show Details button in the print dialog to see the additional menus. Then, if you click on the Preview menu you may see a Color menu and within this could be a Grayscale setting, which will print using only the black ink. This is what I see with my Canon inkjet, not sure what menus exist in the Epson but I would expect there to be something similar.

There's a Preview drop-down menu (just says Preview in the Print dialog box) and if you scroll down you should see "Quality & Media with a check box for Grayscale Printing:

Printer Printing In Black and White

Hi,
I'm using my (new ish) MacBook Pro which is connected to my local network. On this network is a color laser printer (a Magicolor 3100).
The problem I'm having is that recently I went to print something on the networked printer and it printed in black and white when I intended to print in colour. The preview I got (when i had selected file>print) was in color. I have previously printed in colour from this laptop and I can't remember altering any of the printer settings. The computer which the printer is connected to is printing in color and there seems to be no problem with the printer itself or the network connection.
Any suggestions on how i can get back to printing in colour?

many printers have the option within the print dialog box to print BW or color.
perhaps your printer settings have changed from color to BW.
When the print dialog box opens, click on the dropdown menu in the middle of the dialog. Should have entries like Application settings, paper handling, layout, printer settings, etc.
Also, verify you have the correct driver installed.
If, for example, you are using "generic laserwriter" instead of "color 3100," you'll get BW (since generic lw is BW only).

Set OfficejetPro to print in Black and White

I have a colour officejet x451dw printer and i want to set it to always print black and white by default. When use the print utility on a MAC for the printer there is no colour setting options at all only paper tray stuff etc. You can set the option to print graysacle when printing from some applications for example the Preview app on the mac, but the problem is you need to do set it each time your print. I want it set up as default so i dont waste ink unless i want colour. Please tell me how to do this on a MAC, it is driving me crazy

It is possible, that you may only have the basic driver installed, instead of the full feature software and drivers. Check the printer itself. Some printers you need to set the color & B&W settings on the printer itself instead of the Mac. If that is not the case w/your printer, contact HP tech support and/or post in their forums if they have one.

First of all I am using windows 7 - 64bit and my printer is the MF8580CDW. I am using the UFRII print driver. I have tried changing one/all of the profiles in the print settings and printer properties to "black and white" printing but the software keeps chainging my selection back to "Auto[Color/B&W]". From the application used to print open the print dialog.
Click Properties / Preferences / Settings to access the Printing Preferences dialog.
Click the Advanced button.
Under Printing Features set the Print in Grayscale value as Black Ink Only.

How can I print in black and white?

I have asked friends how to print in black and white and they show me how to do it on their computers. They do it by just switching the colorysync profile to black and white or greyscale but when I go to print and go to the same drop down menu for colorsync profiles, there are no other profiles.

First, as print dialog box functions vary with the Mac OS version, we need to know what version of the Mac OS you have. "iOS 5.0.1" in your profile is not a computer OS but rather for iDevices. Do "About this Mac" from the Apple menu to see what version you really have. It should be 10.something
Second: control of the type of printing is int eh hands of the printer software, Please post the both the make and model of printer you are using.

At this time there is not an option or a default to set black and white only from the front panel of the printer. Some applications may give you settings in the Application itself for color or black and white but that would be the only place to change the color of the document/photo for your print jobs.

Laserjet Pro 400 color MFP M475dw print in black and white

Hello,
I have a Laserjet Pro 400 color MFP M475dw printer that is contected to a network so that multiple users can print from it. I want to be able to restrict it so that they can only print in black and white and double sided. Is this possible? and if so could you please tell me how?
I am not able to restrict them on a print by print basis, hence I am looking for a solution where I only have to make the change once.

I understand you want to change a setting one time so that no matter who is sending the printer a print job it prints in gray scale. Actually I found two ways to do it. Here is the basic way to do it as described on page 16 of the User Guide. Also, you could set up this printer to receive emails (ePrint) in gray scale only. I just did a test after making changes in my ePrint settings at www.eprintcenter.com and no color was printed on a regular document containing color. I hope that answers your question. If not, let me know. I will be happy to explain greater detail.

can not get my hp deskjet 932c to print in black and white. error message states print mode in auto, but I can't find the print mode to correct. printer was printing in black and white or color automatically til last night, then in middle of document quit altogether. new cartridges get the same results.

Check the paper type settings. If this is set to "automatic" and the paper type is detected as photo paper then black only print is not available. (The black pigmented ink is not compatible with photo paper.) What is your operating system?

Laserjet 4700 only printing in black and white on windows7 systems

I have an HP Laserjet 4700 printer (Model Q7493A). It works perfectly fine in XP. When I have attempted to install it on a windows 7 system, it will only print in black and white.
I have downloaded the current universal print drivers from the HP website
I have other printers of the same model which don't have the problem.
I have tested this printer on other win7 systems and have recreated the issue.
It looks like for some reason this printer is only installing the Black and white drivers from the universal print driver.
Anyone have any thoughts?

This seems to be a commercial product. For the best chance at finding a solution I would suggest posting in the forum for HP Business Support!

From the application being used to print, Click File > Print

Click the Advanced button at the bottom of the window.
Under Printer Features, Click the Print as Grayscale selection box and set as High Quality Grayscale or Black Ink Only.
