Preview RAW & NTSC 16:9??

I'm cutting a film that is ProRes 422 NTSC anamorphic. I worked on it this fall. I have this memory of displaying the image on a second monitor in Preview RAW and getting the 16:9 frame ... (small in the frame, given it's NTSC 720 X 486, but 16:9 nonetheless).
Now I'm getting the 4:3 squashed anamorphic. Is my memory playing tricks on me? Or where might I have not 'clicked' so that the display is in 4:3 instead of anamorphic?
All ears,
Ben

Oops. It was already clicked anamorphic. I've tried a few variations on just that, clicking the original clips in the browser 'anamorphic' on AND off, and on again.
No difference.
But I've just realised that even though it's NTSC, it's ProRes NTSC, and I can use the secondary monitor set to full screen and it looks just fine.

  • Can't preview RAW files in Bridge CC, administrator issue?

Can't preview RAW files in Bridge CC.
When i try to upate Bridge, it says:
Bridge is unable to check for updates, cause it can't connect to the internet or user is logged in as a non-administrative user.
So then i have to log in as a administrative user to the Bridge...and update..
    Can't it be done easier???
I must also say i have also Bridge CS6 installed on pc and there everything is working fine.
    Thx.

1/ Adobe Bridge should be possible to open without administrator issue.
By default it does, something seems wrong with your install
2/the images DO appear first for 2 or 3 seconds , then it turns to a RAW file icon.
Again indicating a wrong install, you see the embedded jpeg previews briefly but then the Raw thumbs should be build. When you see the generic Raw icon this means you don't have the correct version of the ACR plug in installed to match your camera or no converter at all.
    Try this page:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
3/i only succeed in openening Bridge descently , so with ableing to see RAW files , WHEN i go to c:/progamfiles/Adobe/AdobeBridhecc/Bridge.exe
When, If i copy the exe file for opening Bridge CC and i put it on the Desktop, it DOES NOT Preview the RAW files.
Here you have lost me. As a Mac user I'm afraid I don't know nor understand anything about .exe, I download the .dmg file for an application which then automatically opens and I just click on the install icon, provide admin password and serial number once and then start using it without bothering about install ever again

  • I can't preview RAW files in Bridge CS5 or open them in Camera Raw

I've been using Photoshop CS5, Bridge and Camera Raw 6.7 with no problems whatsoever.  I recently upgraded the OS on my MacBook Pro to 10.8.5 and can no longer preview RAW files in Bridge, or open them in Camera Raw.
I've downloaded the Adobe DNG converter, but would much prefer to using my existing workflow if possible.
Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance for any help!

Adobe doesn't support CS5, an when I spoke to Apple, I was told that this is a known issue with OS 10.8.5 and that they're working on a patch.  In the meantime I'm using Adobe's DNG as a workaround.
Have not heard before of this Known Issue, also find it hard to believe being true. But can't test my self because I only have CS6 and CC installed and always use Photodownloader to convert to DNG upon import. I have just installed the 10.8.5 update and checked in Bridge CC pointing to an attached card reader. no problem in showing the CR2 thumbs, it works as always and as expected.
To my knowledge Bridge CS5 is already 64 bits and I can't think of any valid reason why an OS update would cause this problem so suddenly (but I'm not a technician I have to confess…)
However, I would first try a check and repair permissions from Apple Disk Utility and also try Cocktail (good and cheap 3th party maintenance application for Mac) to clear caches and check permissions.
Also try a new user account just for testing to rule out your current account as the culprit.

  • Finder can no longer preview RAW (.arw) files

    Hi everyone,
Since the Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update 2.7, Finder will no longer preview RAW (.arw) files. This issue also affects Preview & iPhoto.
I've tried re-installing the update but the installer errors and then quits.
I've noticed that the /System/Library/CoreServices/RawCamera.bundle/ folder is missing since the update.
Any recommendations on how to resolve this small problem?
    Justin

Did Apple re-release the Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update 2.7? It appeared again within Software Update. After installing it, Raw files are recognised correctly now.

  • Preview on NTSC monitor

Since Compressor uses FCP for the Preview window, would it be possible to have the preview also show on an NTSC monitor via firewire?

From what I can tell it does. Open FCP and send compressor a clip. Make sure you see the clip in the Compressor preview window. Now go back to FCP. There is a small window open that tells the frame number Compressor is looking at, and says "close Compressor Preview to cancel." I can't use FCP until I close the Compressor preview window.

  • Unable to preview raw photo on adobe bridge cs6 taken from Canon 6d

Hi!  Hope you all can help me with this problem.  Some raw photos taken by the same camera (canon 6d)  on the same memory card can be previewed on adobe bridge but other raw photos cannot.  The setting for all of the photos are the same.  The photos that I can't preview shows a gray screen with CR2 icon.  Jpeg images can be previewed.
    Your help is appreciated!

Did you use a card reader for the download?
Are all the 300 files relatively the same size?
Did you ues Tools/cache/purge and rebuild the folder cache?

  • Inconsistent Previewing Raw Files in Bridge

About two weeks ago, without warning, I was no longer able view my raw files in bridge. The strange thing is, when looking at raw files from a CD in bridge, it will give a preview of about 75% of the files. I am running leopard on my MAC OS X 10.5.4, using CS3, 1) always updating when it needs to be 2) i have reset all my preferences in bridge. Has anyone else run into this problem? Cheers

This sounds to me like you installed the updated plug-in incorrectly.
It's a common mistake to pick the wrong plug-in folder when copying Camera Raw. Unlike Photoshop plug-ins, plug-ins which work in Bridge must be installed in the 'Common Files' directory branch. On my computer, Camera Raw (Camera Raw.8bi) can be found here:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CSx\File Formats
Similar Photoshop-only plug-ins are located here:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CSx\Plug-ins\File Formats
Note that they are similar but different, and consequently quite easy to confuse. Also note that you should ONLY HAVE ONE copy of 'Camera Raw.8bi' installed (or two if you're running 64-bit Photoshop). So, if you previously installed the update in the wrong place, you should remove it, and put it in the correct place.
    Hope that helps.

  • LR 5.0 slowly in rendering import previews (RAW/Canon 6D)

    Hi guys,
does anybody know s.th. about slow rendering imagepreviews in the import dialogue?
My LR 5 is as slow as a snail generating those previews.
Importing my RAWs form the EOS 6D (saved on a 95MB/s 32 BG SanDisk Extreme Pro) it renders only the 12 or 24 displayed previews and leaves out the rest (the next only when I'm scrolling down). For 12 images LR5 needs 8-10 seconds. LR4.4 does the same process for all 150 RAWs in 1-2 seconds.
It doesn't matter if I want to import to my workstation (Dell Precision T1650, 8core Intel Xeon E3-1240 V2, 16GB RAM, 64bit) via USB 3.0 (Reader & Port) or to my laptop (Dell Latitude E6400). So it must be LR, not my hardware.
Are there known issues with the Canon-RAW format? I just updated EOS firmware to 1.1.3, but the renderspeed stays the same. For 1 image 3-4 seconds single...
@ Adobe-Experts: Could you please look after this very soon. Importing to different catalogs is not fun...
    Thanks,
    Ralf

    Hi
I'm having a similar problem when importing Nikon NEFs into LR5 (true for two different cameras, D800 and D300). Rendering of previews is a) very slow (compared to LR4.4 installed on the same machine) and b) often incomplete, i.e. not for all files on the card a preview will be rendered (empty frames are displayed). Sometimes, scrolling the preview panel up and down remedies this, but there have been occasions where apart from rendering the first few previews, all the others remained empty no matter what I did. The irritating thing is that I have not found a pattern to this behaviour which would allow to find a root cause or which would allow a workaround.
Computer: i5-760 CPU, 8GB RAM, Win7 premium home edition. LR5 installed on a different physical drive than the catalog and pictures, and the cache file is yet on another drive.
I'm pretty confident that this is due to some issue in LR5 as importing with LR4 (or earlier versions, for that matter) showed none of these issues.

  • Preview raw images

I just updated Bridge to 5.0.2.4.  It will not preview a raw image taken with a Canon 5d Mk III.  Any ideas?

The 5D Mk III needs ACR 7.1. He should be fine unless he never updated Camera Raw.

  • Slow Preview RAW file support in Mavericks

Since upgrading to Mavericks, the RAW file Preview speed is apauling and basically unusable. It takes a painfully long time to browse and quickview CR2 RAW files.
    Has anyone else encountered this?
It's that bad that I'm forced to use my old Mountain Lion installation to sort my image files. Is there an update in the pipline to solve this? If it persists, I'll be forced to move away from OSX to edit and manage photos.
NOTE: I have a Canon 600D that generates CR2 files. These are 'apparently' supported by Mavericks.
    Thanks,
    Darren

Apple support has gone silent on this issue, still no resolution for the issue. I tried turning off the file indexing without any luck. When looking at the activity monitor, did notice the kernel_task % CPU jumps up and the fan kicks in at high spin rate. It takes anywhere from 2-5 seconds opening a raw files (Canon's CR2).  Considering one of Apple strong point against PC is video-image editing, this has really puts a kabash in user editing segment.

  • Digital Cinema Desktop Preview (RAW) - sometimes reverses fields playback

I am running FCP 5.1.1 on Intel and monitoring the video on a broadcast CRT monitor via the Apple DVI to S-Video adapter. The control panel's external monitor settings are set up to standard PAL configuration, so one would assume that in the RAW mode of Digital Cinema Desktop Preview, I should always see a standard PAL output.
However, somtimes FCP reverses the field order when outputting interlaced footage on the external monitor. This happens randomly. When I stop the sequence and start it again, the fields are reversed again to their correct order.
I have to use teh RAW preview mode because the other preview modes won't display interlaced footage on a video monitor, but play it as progressive instead.
Any help with this is appreciated.
    MacBook Pro 17" 2.16GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Jeff,
First thank you for responding. It is nice to know you're not alone in this world when FCP let you down.
I looked at the other post. I don't have the space which you are talking about. It's just the same as your screen shot. No line spaces.
Maybe this additional info will be of any help:
When I installed FCP 5 I got an error message the first time I started FCP 5. Missing Digital Cinema Desktop Preview. It was the same message you get when you forget to switch on your camera. It tells you that the Fire Wire device is missing. You can either click "check again" or choose "continue".
After I choose continue I never got the message again.
I checked if the /Library/QuickTime/DesktopVideoOut.component was missing. I found out that there is absolutely nothing in the folder /Library/QuickTime/ not the folder which is in the library directly under the root directory of the hard disk nor in the library which is situated under "user/library/QuickTime/
Could that be the problem not only missing 1 file, but missing maybe lots of files.
    Maarten

  • In PS CS5, i can preview raw image but am not able to with PS CC! here are the examples attached

    this is photoshop cs5 ^^
    this is photoshop cc :

That is correct the was removed. Adobe stated the were using and unsupported Microsoft interface.  To hel with the problem I purchases FastPictureCieder Codec packafe. It will generate Thumbnails for RAW and PSD file in Microsoft  dialog when you select to view the list of file that way. Its less the $15.00 you can see at least 3 PSD thumbnails here and a CR2 RAW thumbnail. Windows can also show a larger thumbnail in a right side panel

  • Trouble with Image Previews (& raw vs dng)

    Hi
Im new to Lightroom after using Apple Aperture for the past few years.
The install of Lightroom 5 was a brand new full install and has recently been updated with 5.3. The install was error free and i have only around 20 or so images in the catalogue. I have plenty of processing available on the iMac which is only 12 months old.
I have a random annoyance when i open Lightroom. Once opened, i select a RAW file that has had some minor adjustments such Basic Highlights, Shadows, Colors, Tone Curve, Sharpening and light Noise Reduction. Now when i select the image and move to Develop, some of the adjustments do not load, the most obvious one that i can see is Sharpening. I have waited for 30 seconds and it doesnt seem to load so i toggle to another image and the toggle back and all the adjustments are applied to the RAW file. Its completly random when it does this but is annoying to say the least.. If i stay on the image that hasnt loaded the Sharpening and Turn Off the Noise Reduction and Sharpening adjustment and then turn back on, the Sharpeing is loaded.
Anyone who can help would be greatly appreciated as im not techinically minded.
    Many thanks
    Matt

    Hi Matt,
Not to muddy the water any but, with regards to DNG, it is actually the true open format. Now I am not a follow the herd, whatever "Adobe says" type of guy. DNG is actually the only RAW format that is open to all and to which any camera company or software program can, if they chose to, open, modify, save, and record.
Now, it may seem like I am splitting hairs or like I am on the Adobe bandwagon. I assure you I am not and struggled for a very long time as to whether I should bother with the DNG format. What really got my attention, and converted my thinking, was about 2 years ago when reading an interview with the renown photographer Frans Lanting. He indicated that even while still in the field (likely on an assignment for National Geographic), his workflow is to first copy his .NEF files to a hard drive and second to convert all of those .NEF files to DNG. I thought to myself "Wow, if he views it as that important as to perform this seemingly extra step, while still in the field, then maybe I should consider it too...."
That article got me thinking, 20+ years ago no one saw what a complete dominance of the medium digital photography would have today. Once "descent" digital cameras started coming out, I think we all saw that the future would be digital but no one predicted the shift would be so fast. So, as I sit here today, can I afford to assume that Nikon/Canon will continue to support the propritary files from my D100/10D forever? Can I afford to assume that other software vendors will continue to read the file format once Nikon/Canon discontinues this support? I could end up in the same boat I will be in now if my slide scanner breaks, only one or two vendors with quality products.
Anyway, that is my view on the matter. I, like Frans Lanting, keep both but only work from the DNG files because of the performance benefits. Well, that and to ensure that my original RAW file never gets corrupted or altered in any way but mostly, I do it for the DNG performance benefits.
Welcome to Lightroom. I hope you have a good experience!

  • Bridge CS4 5D Mark ii RAW preview.

I can't preview Raw thumbnails in Bridge cs4 from my 5d mark ii. I can open them but not preview them.  I installed plugin 5.3 update in the right place but no cigar. A year ago I had the same problem with another computer and I adjusted a slider which corrected everything.  I'm on a Mac os 10.8. Please help.

If there are no images on the hard-drive, do you mean you are you viewing old images off an external drive, then, or perhaps off the camera’s memory card in a card reader?
To simplify things, try using Finder to copy a brand-new 5D.2 image from a memory card to a newly created folder on your internal hard-drive and then look at it with Bridge and see what happens.  Also try flipping to high-quality thumbnails in Bridge.
Otherwise, someone with Mac experience may have to chime in, to confirm if a Mac version of Bridge has its own version of Camera Raw separate from Photoshop, with the possibility of only the PS one has been updated, somehow.  You could do a search of your entire hard-drive and see how many Camera Raw plug-ins you find and if their timestamps all match the most recent one you updated.   You could also do an Adobe Plug-Ins within Photoshop and see if there is more than one instance listed.  This happens if a new ACR is put into the wrong folder and PS still finds it during the initial plug-in scan.
If Adobe has a fix, then someone here likely knows what it is.
To confirm, your subject says RAW Preview, but you’re not able to see either thumbnails or the larger one-at-a-time previews, and the only thing that seems to work is when you choose Open in Camera Raw from w/in Bridge, you can see it and work with it.
