Preview show all attachment (pdf) as locked

just i want to ask about why (preview.app) show all attachment (pdf) as locked and when you want to unlocked press in the top of file to open it , why there is some step to do this ,not like before in snow leopard. and how i install old preview to work on it in side Mac lion ox????

I have Brother Control Center3 and if I click the "Configuration" button in Control Center and then click on the type of scan (e.g., image, file, ocr, etc) there is a window where I can select the file type of the output, the application that opens with the document after the scan and the ability to adjust a number of other settings. I suspect that this was similar in earlier versions but if not you can likely download a later version from the Brother support site.

Why doesn't my E4200 wireless router show all attached devices when viewing the DHCP Client table?

I recently installed some wireless IP cameras and when attempting to re-install a camera I went into the DHCP Client table to verify which IP a camera was using to set it up, but I could not...and still cannot see any of my cameras in the table even though I can access three of them directly through the IE web browser. I initially power cycled both the E4200 router and Motorola cable modem, and then later just the wireless router...but I still do not see the devices connected. I currently have 2.0.37 firmware even though I was told by Cisco support that there was a later version available, just before being informed that I do not have support available and could purchase it. I attempted to locate a newer version, but the online upgrade portion of the Cisco Connect software searched the net and then states that I have the latest version available. I also opened a Firefox browser to see if maybe my browser was causing issues, but the same limited table appears without all entries available. I even opened the Cisco Connect software on another laptop with the same limited results.
Other than a factory reset, any suggestions to get me E4200 dual band wireless router to show all attached devices through the DHCP Client table as it previously did approximately two weeks ago? Thanks!

It is strongly recommended that you upgrade the firmware to a smart wifi, which may resolve lot of bugs. You can also download the firmware here:

How to automatically view all attached pdfs in an Acrobat form?

Hi!
I use an Adobe form that collates many different PDFs attached to various links within the form. When final review is required, I can (within that single form) click on each individual link, launching the attached PDF in a separate window. However, this is cumbersome and error prone (for example, a user might not see one of the buttons to click). I would like to generate a view where all the attached PDFs are displayed in continuous fashion, preferably right after the page where they were attached.
When this form is finally submitted, such a view is generated, so I know it is possible. However, it would be ideal to be able to review it in this format before it is submitted at all.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated! Link to the form is attached.

I tried another look but couldn't figure it out...but my javascript isn't fantastic. I looked at the example form that I think you got the code from and it works fine when Reader extended.

I upgraded to Lion. Now all my pdfs are locked. How do I unlock them?

Lion has locked all my pdf files. I want to print them and can't!

I was having a problem like this with .HTML code files. The Apple tech had me
- repair permissions with Applications->Utilities->Disk Utility
- shutdown and reboot (smile)
- UNCHECK System Preferences->Time Machine->Options->Lock Documents
Also for Text Edit he had me
CHECK Text Edit->Preferences->Open and Save->Ignore Rich Text commands
I suspect there might be a few other things like this hidden away.

I can't open (show)the attachment pdf or doc in the IPhone 5

When I try to open a mail attachment pdf then the screen chang but I can't see the pdf file. Also with doc and xls. When I open the same mail attachment in my IPad3 iOS6 its working fine.

Hmmmm...... It seems off..... but I also have just realised I haven't actually recieved any files (PDF, Word, Excel etc) since I got my iPhone on Friday.
I'm going to test in now.
(Also on this forum..... 99.9% of the time a hard reset seems to work haha!)

Preview does not properly show all of PDF

If you go to Pfaltzgraff.com and download the PDF coupons for their factory stores, these will not display or print in their entirety using Preview. This happens on 10.4.10! However, if you use Adobe reader 7.0.5 or 8.1 they display and print fine.These are the first two documents I have ever seen that do not work properly in Preview. I thought things just worked on a Mac :^)

Any application that has to interface with the web has the potential for this. You probably have noticed web browsers sometimes work, sometimes not... which is why a lot of folks have more than one. On rare occasions, I find Safari won't work with some web code on sites, so I use Firefox on those.
The problem is that although good web sites try to follow a web standard, not all web technologies work well with all applications out there that interface with the web.
I can confirm that the site you mentioned did indeed not allow Preview to display the coupons correctly. If you use this site frequently, you may want to send an Email to them pointing this out. Perhaps they can alter their code. If not, it's just one of those annoyances. In this case, since Acrobat handles it just fine, it isn't a big one.

Lion update locked all my pdfs?

Just installed Lion update (10.7.2) and now all my .pdfs are "locked," which is really strange and frustrating. File info says I have full permissions, but that's not correct (no copy/paste/annotate/find). Some of these .pdfs are files that I made, on this very computer, from (say) Word docx. Their locations have not changed (most are on dropbox) and they were never locked before. I've always only used Preview, which at the moment is v 5.5.1. I can't remember/didn't check whether there was a Preview update included in the latest Lion update (looks like it, on a visual level). What's causing this?
I tried moving a file to local drive, then renaming. Then attempted to use annotation, and got option to unlock. Beside the File icon, "locked" changed to "edited," but it's still locked, really (no copy/paste/find...but it looks like I can annotate, i.e. highlight).

Some folks have decided that versions is the worst thing to happen since the Black Death. Personally I like it and I think it is kind of neat.
You can change the length of time from last edit that a document gets locked in the Time Machine options. I don't think I changed mine so I'm guessing the default is 2 weeks. But you can extend that up to one year or turn it off completely if you want.

Preview fails to open PDF files in Safari

Can anyone tell me why Preview will not now open PDFfiles inside Safari? I used to have Adobe PDF installed to open all PDF files but I have since removed it in preference to Preview. Preview opens all other PDF files just fine but it seems unable to work with Safari... weird!

I have indicated on the attached jpeg where the problem is, basically a line of text is missing at the top and part of the feeding diagram is missing. I created the artwork in different layer and then flattened. All text has been converted to outlines, however the areas being affected have no transparency, I have used solid fills or no fills. I get the same result when I export the file as a jpeg. Hope you can help.

Just installed mountain Lion. Viewing a pdf sent to me using preview and some colors are appearing BLACK, however when I view the same PDF in Acrobat they are perfect and what they are suppose to be. WHY would PREVIEW showing a different color?

Here's what I've found on the issue:
Pantone color definitions have changed (coinciding with CS6) — they are now "Pantone+" (I think that's what they're called). The "+" apparently means they're now LAB colors. Lab colors are not properly displayed in Preview (or in Finder previews) — they display as black (as far as I can tell, in all circumstances). I'm sure it's a tad more complicated than that, but that's the gist.
Now the bad news — nobody seems to know anything about a fix or workaround (unless you convert your PDFs to process — this might be a fix for sending to clients). It causes issues for me in AI files — being able to view them in the finder (with previews) is a HUGE time saver for my workflow... when they're all black, not so much.
In my chat with a director of product dev at Adobe, they placed the responsibility to fix on Apple (assuming Apple wants to support Pantone color definitions in their OS).

Populated PDF form in Preview shows as blank when viewing

I have a pdf template form that I have filled in.
I did this in Preview and used 'save as' to create my copy.
However, the thumbnail preview of the pdf shows as blank, and if i send it windows users or preview it in gmail, it also shows as blank.
To start with I thought that I had accidentally saved the wrong version, but no, I can double click the pdf in Finder, and it opens in Preview with all the data present, exactly as I had saved it.

What I have noticed is that if I send the pdf to another mac user, they can see all the info fine. If I send the output from Preview in gmail, and someone downloads it, they can only view the information if they click on the "highlight fields" button, but then it still doesn't look quite right, with loads of expander "+"s all over the form.
When I tried opening the form in adobe reader from the link you provided, I get a different view again. I can examine each field and view the individual data items, but it is not possible to 'show all fields'

PDF's in Mail Not Previewing Properly - All Text is small Boxes with "X"'s

Hi, when I attach a .pdf file in Mail the letters of the fonts sow up as small boxes with an "X" in the middle. I have attached PDF's before with no problems viewing them in Mail but now they are unreadable.
I contacted Adobe but the PDF looks fine in other applications. I also open the file and save it using "Preview" and it looks fine until I attach it in an email then the font letters are all boxes with "X" in the middle.

Do a backup, using either Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure files/data can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.
Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
Try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account. Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear and again when you log in. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don’t do them all at once.

You did not get an email, you got a MMS. You have to enable MMS on your phone before you can see the picture.

How can i make the report previewer show a PDF file instead of HTML?

Hi there,
i made a report which can be called within a form by a button. This report is a PDF-report.
I also have an option in the application to start the report from the menu. Then i get the Launch Report Form by Headstart. Here i can fill in for Desformat (in the options) PDF and Output to PREVIEW. Still it generates me a HTML report in my browser. How can i make it work so that the PREVIEWER will show me a PDF-report instead of the HTML?

You can not use PREVIEW as output type in webbased forms/reports. Try using as output type CACHE or FILE.
