Does anyone know how i return to work on a word document within pages as i'm currently viewing it as a pdf in preview.

Preview does not have that capability. Go to MacUpdate or CNET Downloads and search for software that can do such a conversion.

How to show a word document stored in a BLOB column?

Hi guys.
I'm trying to show the content of a MS Word document through forms 6i. This document was stored as byte-for-byte by an application developed in .Net to an BLOB column (oracle table). Anybody could help me in how to show this document using Internal Persistend LOBs and through forms 6i?
I've been searching for it a lot of time without success...

I've read about using the ole2 item, but I don't how to do it with BLOB files. I tried to use it and didn't work... I don't know if I've used it correctly or not. Could anybody give a sample, please?
If anybody knows other way to do it, please send too.

Word document icon preview thumbnail is wrong

I can't seem to refresh the icon preview for the word document i'm working on. It has happened to a few documents and even after repairing permissions, shuting down, turning preview on and off, trying to delete icon in 'get info'….. it remains the same.
Not a major problem but I'd like to see the file I'm opening instead of reading the name, it's quicker.

Thanks Chris, I already ran cleaning in Onyx, I've tried deleting again and rebooting, then opening the doc again…but they are still the same… even worse all of the icon previews are corrupted!

Opening a Word document in a form layout html region

Hi all,
In an Interactive Report I use
select '<img src="#WORKSPACE_IMAGES#'||package.f_get_document_type ( doc.id )||'" title="Document" width=20 height=20>'
) document
from table
to show an icon that eventually downloads (and shows) a word document.
Now I have a form layout html region and I want to have the same icon\link to show a document.The document however is not in the same table as the rest of the page is based on.
How can I show the document on this page?

One way, create a hidden item, and return the value into it from your package (by having a computation that calls the function package.f_get_document_type(:P1_DOC_ID) . Let's say it's called :P1_DOC_TYPE
There's a new item type in Apex 4, which is Display Image.
When you get to settings in the item creation wizard, specify what the image is based on. From there, you can set it to be 'Image URL stored in Page item Value. Then on the source page, you can just specify the URL, #WORKSPACE_IMAGES#&P1_DOC_TYPE.

Requirement to attach a word document to an Appointment page

Hi All,
We have a requirement to attach or show a Word document which can be edited on the Appointment page.
This document is like a form which has few questions , while creating an Appointment the use can open this and enter relevant answers and save the same . This form will not pull out any data from the Appointment created.
The same form must be shown for every appointment created in that Transaction type.
I am trying to use the Template designer and webservice for the same . But i understand this tool is used to pull out info from the Object like the appointment.
Is there any way we can attach a document to the Appointment page , where the user can open it , put it all the answers to questions manually and save it to the same page .
Experts please help with the same !

Issue resolved, I followed this SAP note

My requiremnt was to pull the data and pre fill the word doc .. so a web service was required and i was fasing the issue of grey blank page which was not editable , later on i discovered that in CRM 7 they have changed the way and we need to follow the following steps :
1. Fill all the required details in the template designer with the web service that was craeted
2, Download the schema and save
3. press start designer
4. Download the template and save
5. open the downloaded template , press the XML schema button in the developer's tab
6. Add the schema and enter the alias name
7. Remember to uncheck the validate button and tick the "Allow saving the XML even if not valid "
8 . Design the template save it
9 Upload it in UI using the upload option
Hope this will be usefull for people working in CRM 7 with Ehp1

When trying to look at pix on a cd, it comes up as word document and have to right click on preview to see picture. Why

On my desktop, when wanting to see pictures on a CD, if I click on the picture icon it open as a word document. I must right click on the icon then click on preview and can then see all pictures on the CD. This just started after the last Firebos update. What needs to be done to correct. I have no problem seeing the pictures on my laptop which doen not have Firefox.

Firefox is a web browser, and your problem is associated with how Windows handles image files. Firefox doesn't even need to be running, so I don't see how it could be associated with your problem. If the problem started around the same time as a Firefox update, I'm willing to bet that it was just a coincidence.

The quickest way to do this (tested with OS 10.8.2, MS Word 2011) is in one line:
tell application "Microsoft Word" to close every document whose name begins with "book"
The reason why your script doesn't work is that you aren't specifying to Word which document you want it to close.
So, changing one line ought to do it:
close document incrementvalue -- instead of "close document"
But... when you close a document, you change the document count. Document 2 becomes document 1, document 3 becomes document 2 etc. So eventually you'd get a message saying "The object you are trying to access doesn't exist".
Because of this, if you want to do it in a repeat loop, you have to work backwards:
tell application "Microsoft Word"
set doc_count to count documents
repeat with x from doc_count to 1 by -1
if name of document x begins with "book" then close document x
end repeat
end tell

After clean install Preview and MS Word won't open any documents.

Did a clean install of Mavericks. Restored my files from dropbox. (thousands of pdf and word files, doc. and docx)
Now, preview and MS Word won't open any documents.
Preview fails to open PDF so as MS Word fails to open any doc or docx file. Both crash on launch (not responding).
The only way to open the files is renaming them.
Try to delete the .plist (preview and Word), dont work.
Anyone know how to fix?

So I searched the forums for any previous AGM.dll posts and tried resetting the preferences (through Alt+Ctrl+Shift) and deleting the entire Adobe Illustrator CS6 Settings folder. I opened Illustrator again and moved some panels around to save a new AIPrefs folder but I was still unable to open any documents.

Frozen out menu ribbon in Word 2013 and cannot preview word documents in Outlook 2013

I seem to be having a recurring problem with Word 2013 from Office Home Edition single user. When I try to put a caption on a table, the entire document page layout changes from portrait to something close to landscape and then the entire menu ribbon freezes
out. I usually have to save the file, close and reopen using the open and repair feature as the document only opens in read only after this incidence happens. Since the first time I experienced this in early July, I haven't been able to preview Word files
in office outlook 2013 and the protected mode feature hasn't worked since then either.
Can I get some help with this please? I reinstalled, did online fixing and tried a few other fixes to no avail. Could it have started as a result of my installing a trial version of Office Visio which comes as a totally different package from my Home edition?

Is this the only action that will result in the issue? Does this happen to any Word documents?
The first thing that I'd suggest you to do is to install any available updates to your system and Office installation, and then verify result.
Then, please check if you have any add-ins integrated with your Word 2013 (please note that some programs might install add-ins automatically), try in safe mode and see if issue was caused by some add-in conflicts:

Can I show a MS Word document from an Air to an LCD projector?

I find I can display a Powerpoint using an LCD projector, but if I try to show a MS Word document, I don't see anything on the display screen. Is there some trick to this?

When I print a Word for Mac document to a shared printer (that is connected to my iMac) from my Macbook Pro, print preview looks fine but the printed page has too much blank space at the top and doesn't print the bottom few lines. I have tried to adjust the margins and the page setup settings but to no avail. It used to print fine until recently. Is there a way to fix it so that the printer prints what print preview shows?

I should add that when I e-mail this document to myself and print it directky from the iMac, it prints fine.
