Preview starts up when I restart the mac

It's not really a huge problem - it's an annoyance that I'd like to stop though. For some reason when I reboot my machine the preview application opens. But with no documents. I'm not sure why it occurs and I've looked in the startupitems folder and I don't see anything that would cause it to start.
Any suggestions.

Take a look in System Preferences >> Accounts >> Login Items.

No, it won't revert to the prior OS X but you you may have third party apps installed that were compatible with Lion that may not be compatible with Mountain Lion.

  • TRANSFORMATION STARTS AGAIN, WHEN I RESTART THE COMPUTER OR ENABLE THE CAPTURE PROCES

    Hello all,
I am using a Transformation function which is invoked by Capture process whenever a
delete is performed on source table, then Transformation function collect the required
data from LCR and stores in some other local table.
When capture process is online, Transformation function is doing it's job well.
But whenever I restart the system or whenever I enable the Capture process,
the Transformation function is called again, Though I am not performing any
    delete operation on source table.
Due to this I am finding lot of duplicate records in the target table.
Hence, Transformation function is repeatedly called whenever I restart the system or
    enable the Capture process.
=> Is it concerned with any kind of clean up or commit.
=> Or Am I have to clean up redo-logs right after the execution of Transformation function.
How can I stop this unnecessary execution of Transformation function.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hello Patricia,
Thank you very much for that suggestion.
As you said, Now I created capture process and an apply process for replication inside a
    database.
Capture process is enqueing events to queue, But Apply process is not able to dequeue events
    from that queue.
I created this environment for replication between two same-structured tables inside scott schema.
If I get positive result for this simple case, then I can move for DML_Handlers etc.
Replication between 2 databases is looking more straight forward and easier to implement thatn this
    local database issue.
Am I have to define propagation also...?
I tried defining propagation , which should dequeue events from source queue and enqeu event to
destination queue which is in the same schema, Then apply process should dequeue events from this.
But this is also not happening.
Or any special settings/initialization parameters are required for replication inside a
    local database.
    Many Thank in advance.

  • How do I restore my computer if when I restart the Mac OS X Utilities screen comes up?

I've tried all of the options, and none of them allow me to either repair, restore, recover from back up, or even erase my main hard drive.  All of the options only give me the option to do one of the fixes to one of my external drives.
My computer is a iMac with Mountain Lion Installed.  Unfortunately, I can't tell you much more than that b/c I can't access the "About this Mac" function.
    HELP! PLEASE!

It appears that your internal hard disk isn't being recognized at all, as if it is not installed. If that is the case the only option is replacement.
An Apple Store perform the repair, or you can. If you elect to DIY I recommend the resources of ifixit.com as a place to start.

Have you just tried repairing with Disk Utility?
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Lion/Mountain Lion
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.

  • After quitting FF 8.01 on a Mac with OSX 10.5, restarting the Mac then starting FF, the offer to Restore Previous Session is grayed out. Is there any way I can recover the list of pages open when FF was last quit?

Had about 15 windows w/ tabs open. System was a little sluggish and had not been rebooted in weeks so I Quit FIREFOX. Restarted the Mac, then FIREFOX. Option to Restore Previous Session was grayed out. I haven't used that computer since, hoping not to overwrite record of previous session.
I've used the Restore Previous Session feature many times before without any problems.

You used the data.  Verizon can not see what it was sued for.  However your phone can see whats apps used the data.  go to settings-data usage- there will be a place that says data usage cycle.  line the dates up with your cycle.  then there will be a bar graph below that   extend bother white bars one all the way to the left and one all the way to the right.  after those are extended below that will be a list of apps,  there should be one that used over 2 gb and that will show you what app used that data in her purse

LOL.. don't switch off the TC.. this is fairly typical behaviour..
Or try a different usb hub.. but you could well and truly run out of hubs before you fix the problem.
Are you running latest firmware for your TC?
What error message is coming up in the airport utility.. amber led is a fault indicator.. look up what the actual fault is and see if it is for instance overloading the usb. You are using a powered hub??
Get one bigger USB hard disk instead of 3 smaller ones.

Disconnect all devices from your computer if you have not already done so.  Restart again.  If the problem has been resolved, you had a peripheral conflict.  You will then have to reconnect the devices one at time, restart,  to locate the culprit.
Login Items is another culprit.  Check your login items.
    System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items
Delete/disable all you do not need or want.

The app (Excel) is in the dock. When I left click on it there is no check next to open at login.
Lets go back to the beginning when I installed ms office both word and excel were in the dock. then one day excel dissapeared. I put it back in the dock and that is when it started opening during login. There is only one X showing in the dock.
    Maybe I have little gremlins.

  • How to restart the mac like the first time you use it?

how to restart the mac like the first time you use it?

Surefire way is by completely reinstalling the OS after erasing the Macintosh HD boot volume.
I think there's a way to coerce the Setup Assistant to run once again like on First Start, but requires erasing a couple of files in the drive. Don't know which ones right now.

I'm stucked on APPLE evolution bar when I restarted my Mac after upgrade to Yosemite. I Can't access on my computer.

    Good Question.
I downloaded Yosemite a while ago, but didn¹t install it because it would
knock out several applications such as Solitaire till Dawn But finally
when some apps wouldn¹t work with my current version of Safari I thought I
would upgrade Safari but they wouldn¹t work with the OS I was using so
suddenly I had no Safari and was worse off than before. So I bit the bullet
and upgraded to Yosemite with the earlier version I already had. Not pleased
when iPhoto didn¹t work, and it also coincided with an national email outage
here in Australia by the major carrier so no email either.
Experience has taught me that it gets sorted out in the end but in the
    meantime...
    And the lesson is [
