Preview tab locks up LiveCycle

Out of the blue today, anytime I click on the preview tab to check a form being developed, the preview appears then LiveCycle locks up and I have to use Ctrl-Alt-Del to close the program.
I have used LiveCycle for years, using three versions, without this incident. Anyone else experience this sudden behavior?

I have had something like this happen since moving to Designer ES3, can you try Designer ES2? Otherwise, try these steps
do a preview in Designer, it will die but will produce a file in your temp directory (type %temp% in the address bar of Windows Explorer), the file will have a generated name like _d0g26dao491323gh.pdf
open Acrobat, and make sure the JavaScript option "When exception is thrown" is set to break.
from Acrobat open the temporary file created by the preview (you can't double click the .pdf file from Windows Explorer, or Acrobat will die like Designer does)
So it seems to be if an JavaScript exception is thrown in one of the events before the form becomes visible.

Adobe Acrobat aborts when using LiveCycle Designer PDF Preview tab.

Whenever I try to use the PDF preview tab in LiveCycle Designer, Adobe Acrobat aborts. I get the notice that "Adobe Acrobat 8.1 has encoutered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Yadda, yadda, yadda,....." .
The error signature is:

Please increase your Buffer memeory for appalications.
Before you go for a preview. try to kill the exisitign process of adobe reader.
We need to see hte size of the XDP being generated.
If it is over 20 0r 30 MB, we may need to bring it down to 2 - 4 MB.
Again if the problem still persists, Re install the acrobat and try.
Lastly, check if the same problem happens when you use a adobe reader 8.1.3 or 9.4 (stable versions).

Lost pdf preview tab in ES4

Initial install of LC ES4 did have pdf preview and it worked for a couple wks. Now I can't get the tab back.
I've read the blogs-followed the instructions to resolve-but have yet to get pdf preview tab
I've uninstalled/reinstalled Acrobat XI Pro and LiveCycle ES4 twice now-each time making sure all directory structure removed.
I really need to get this feature back. Does anyone have a solution?

Report Preview Tab and data loading

I have 2 questions:
When I first started developing a report, when I opened the file I had both the design and preview tabs displayed. It seems after I downloaded and viewed 1 of the sample reports, the preview tab disappeared (tho, it's not obvious the 2 are related). I checked the box under Options/Layout/Display Preview Panel, but it did not seem to help. Is there something else I missed?
The other question, and this may have an effect on my 1st question, is that when I open my report file, the database records are not automatically loaded (thus, nothing to preview at that point). Is there a way to set an automatic log on to the database so that the load time happens at the beginning and not when I actually want to preview results?

Thanks for the response. I tried what you suggested and it does not seem to work all the time. There may be something else that I need to consider.
I was wondering...when I do the "Save Data with Report", does it save ONLY the data? Or does it save some intelligent connection back to the database? Also, is this function the same as the one listed under Options/Reporting? I selected the one on the File menu (as you suggest), but it doesn't seem to change the selection on the Options/Reporting window.
Apologies for my attempt at a "2-fer-1". I only did that because I believed the 2 might be related...maybe not. I'll repost as a separate issue/concern.

Preview Tab - Pop Up Error

Last week I installed some adobe updates, I believe one of those was for adobe reader. Now everytime in LCD when I click on the preview tab I get the following message: "The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a web browser. Please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and try again. Also since the updates LCD seems to fail and close unexpectedly quit often.

Since upgrading to Mac OS X Mountain Lion with the latest security updates, this annoying problem has disappeared.

Video Tab locked in the ipod

I converted the dvd files to .mp4 files (Using cusoft).
The files were loaded in the itune (by using add files to library). I can play the dvd in the itune on my pc but cannot transfer the dvd files to the ipod because:
The dvd tab in the ipod is locked (white out). I can see the white out: [X] do not update video files .
Since the dvd tab is locked out I cannot transfer the dvd files to the ipod. I used the latest verson of itune and ipod programs.

Syndicator Preview tab values are not same to Syndicator Output file

I am struct with the following issue, can any one give there inputs where the issue is:
In the MDM Syndicator preview tab I can see the look up flat multiple table values... But in the output file I cant abel to see the entire node at all... Do I need to make some configuration?

Need help adding data to Preview Tab of Crystal Report

Hi! I'm hoping someone can help me with an issue I'm having with a crystal report I use daily. I work in accounting and the crystal report i use pulls data for a ton of different general ledger accounts on our system. However, somehow the crystal report only shows a handful of accounts in the 'preview tab' of my report, which happen to be the accounts I reconcile. I need to add a few accounts to my report, but no one seems to know how to add new accounts to show up on my preview tab. I'm thinking there must be some sort of filter in the crystal, version 9.0 or 11.0. The filter must have been put in place to either only include certain accounts or excluse certain accounts. Help! hi Jeff,
first we need to determine if you have a full version of crystal reports designer (i.e. crw32.exe) or if you're using a version which is embedded into an accounting application.
if you're using the latter then you need to contact the company that manufactures the accounting software.
if you do have a full version of crystal reports then you can go to the Report menu > Selection Formulas > Record and check to see how the record filter is determined. my guess though is that you're using an embedded version.

In CR2008 the Preview Tab stopped showing up

I am new to Crystal Reports, so I would really appreciate help on this.
My reports used to show up in Preview Mode in CR20080. I am not sure which setting is responsible for this, but yesterday for some reason, all reports started opening up in Design Tab. I created a couple of reports where I did not use "Save Data with Report" setting. Now, I changed them back to use "Save data with report" setting, but it still does not help. Even the reports which I did not touch started open up with the Design Tab only (they used to open in Preview Mode before).

I just received an e-mail from one of my former colleagues. Based on his own experience, he suggested to verify one of the Crystal Reports settings: go through File->Options. In the application's Options window select tab "Reporting" and, if checked, uncheck "Discard Saved Data on Open" - this option strips away any data from the report even if "Save Data With Report" is checked. He was right, that checkbox was ON, so on the startup, my reports had nothing to show in the Preview Tab. I unchecked the box and that fixed the problem.

Iam not seeing <b>Preview tab</b> in Visual Composer storyboard....i can see other 3 tabs ( design,layout,source)... ....do i have to do any post installation steps?..Can any one help on this?

Hi,
yes you are right. The preview tab is no longer in user. You deploy your model, that's it.
There is also a simulation tab on VC6 which is no longer in use.

Preview tab

Hi All,
Please help me to find Preview tab in VC so tht i can see preview of my model (iview) functionality. I can see layout,design,source tabs but not preview tab.. :(.
Can some give idea how to run my model without deploying it in portal

Hi Stan,
this was possible in older versions (e.g. VC6) of Visual Composer. With VC7.0 it's no longer available.

Can any one kindly reason out the occurance of my problem ?
Iam not able to view preview data under preview tab in BI 7 even the file format is CSV and no. of rows to be ignored is 1 and data separator is "," & escape sign is ";"
The error was some thing like " infoobject MAT_IDMAT_NAME_MAT_TYPE is not corelated"
Though I was given seperated the columns like MAT_ID & MAT_NAME & MAT_TYPE

Hi Raj,
If it is CSV, you can make corections data source itself.Once you check the fields entered in the data source with your csv file, because there may be some mismatching between the file you loaded and data source.Enter thre fields in data source as per your file.And check the line to be displayed option, when you clicking on preview.

Hiding Subreport tab or preview tab

Hello all,
Ok, don't laugh and I am aware that it might very simple. However, I can not figure it out.
Therefore, can someone please me with this hugh issue, just kidding...
OK, I can not figure out how to hide the tabs on the report, i.e. Subreport tab and/or the preview tab on top of the report next to Design view tab.
I'm using CR9.
I appreciate your help in advance.

If your are using a sub-screen inside the tab strip, you will have to hide that too to make the tab strip completely invisible. Also check with the screen-invisible option of the screen

LOOP AT SCREEN.
    CASE screen-name.
      WHEN 'zsub-grp'
        screen-input     = 0.
        MODIFY SCREEN.
         WHEN 'TAB9'    " Status History Tab   " Tab Name to Hide
        screen-active     = 0.
        MODIFY SCREEN.
    ENDCASE.

Preview keeps locking up

Preview keeps locking up when I try to copy text from a pdf. There then appears an instance of Preview that can't be quite and uses all the processor.

The Ram did the job. Thanks everyone. It made a huge differance , like a totaly differant computer. Next is to bump it to 256MB instead of 160 ( would like to go to 512 but don't know if this will hold it or not.)
