Preview Update after Photoshop Editing

I would think this would be a common question but I can't find the answer.
After I edit a photo from iPhoto 09 in photoshop, the preview of the photo in iPhoto does not update. I can double click on the photo and see the edits but when I zoom back out it goes back to the original state.
Any ideas on how to correct?
Thanks!

Be sure you're using Photoshop correctly from wihtin iPHoto:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.  3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 9 the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
NOTE: If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window".  That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu).  This way you get the best of both worlds.

  • Photos no longer stacking after Photoshop Edit

I have Lightroom 4 and Photoshop CS6 running on a Mac. I have the box checked to stack edited with originals.
I recently moved all of my photos to a an external Raid 1 drive - I did this within Lightroom, so that Lightroom knew where everything was. Everything seemed to be fine.
Today, I realized that after going to Photoshop and coming back into Lightroom, my photos are not stacking. Not only are they not stacking, but according to Lightroom they are not in the same folder, even though they are.
I am not working from a collection, I am working from the actual folder structure on the drive. If I go to photoshop, edit, save and come back, when it returns to Lightroom, where normally the new edited Tiff would pop up - now it returns a black screen, saying "no photo selected". If I go to the library module, the screen is still black. If I go the top of Lightroom and click on "All Photographs" the tiff file is there next to the picture. However, it is not stacked. If I try to stack it, it says that it can't stack photos that are stored in different folders.
I don't know where Lightroom is putting this Tiff file. The folder that I was editing from had 20 photos in it. I went into photoshop, came back with a tiff, and there are still only 20 photos in the folder, yet if I go up to all photos, it is there, so Lightroom put it somewhere.
When I go look at my external hard drive, the tiff file is there. It is right next the raw. In the same folder. So, it seems that Photoshop is putting it back in the right folder, but Lightroom is not.
    Thanks,
    Pam

Okay, just realized that it is putting the tiff files in a another copy of the Gmax Mini.  You can see in the screen shot that it has my working drive, and then a second version of the Gmax Mini, with just the Tiff files in it!  Is this because it is a Raid 1?

  • Thumbnails not updating after external editing.

I noticed the thumbnails are not updating after I use an external editor. When I bring the images full screen are they are representing correctly, but when I leave full screen the thumbnail still is not the latest image.
I tried the update preview and Aperture said it they are updated, so I did an option and update preview and that corrected them, but this should be happening automatically.
I did try restarting Aperture before the doing the "option - update preview" and that had no effect.

Do you mean it is suppose to be fixed in 3.0.1? Or do I have to wait until a 3.1 comes out.
I am using 3.0.1 now and that is where I am seeing the issue.

  • Sneak Preview Update: Full Java Edition is now available on NW04 SP15

    Hi SDNers,
Here's something that might make your new year more interesting... We just released the SP15 version of the <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/downloaditem?rid=/library/uuid/cfc19866-0401-0010-35b2-dc8158247fb6">sneak Preview SAP NetWeaver: Full Java Edition</a> on SDN.
This version - like its SP11 predecessor - includes the following components:
    - SAP NetWeaver Application Server (Java)
    - SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio
    - SAP Enterprise Portal
    - SAP Knowledge Management
    - SAP Composite Application Framework including Guided Procedures
    - Interactive Forms based on Adobe Software
Note: We've updated the system requirements and installation instructions, so please take the time to read through the information carefully.
You'll need to download 4 rather large files with this release (total approx. 5GB), so your patience is required! Especially in the beginning when everyone is trying to download at the same time, expect that the server performance will suffer. You might try downloading at off-peak hours to avoid the rush.
Please post your questions and comments about the Full Java Edition in this discussion forum and we'll try to get you an answer as soon as possible.
    Enjoy and Happy New Year!

  • Premiere Pro CS4 Crashes After Photoshop edit.................

    Deacon,
Along with the DirectX update, did you install anything else?
After your installation of the DirectX update, did you also update your video and your audio drivers? If not, that would be my first thing to try. Both of those drivers can be rendered obsolete in a heartbeat, and because PrPro interfaces more closely with those, than nearly any other program, it will fail, while simple players, etc. still function.

  • Photos don't get back into lightroom 2 after photoshop edit?

    Hi,
I'm on a mac, using LR1 for work, and testing LR2 trial. CS3 installed.
This is a really strange thing. I've searched the net, watched tutorial videos, and it still doesn't work for me....
When I'm done developing my photos, and want to take them to Photoshop - I right click, edit in CS3, do my editing, save (not save as) and close the photo. Now in LR1, and according to all the help I find - the new psd file should show up in my library, either in a stack, or next to my RAW file. Well, it doesn't.... The only way to get my psd edits back in to my catalog is to to a "synchronize folder" - which is really bad workflow... Anybody else with this problem?! I don't find any Adobe fixes, and can't see what other ways I could try now..
Hope somebody can spread some light. Thanks!
    /Kasper

I'm getting this as well. I'd really like to know how to fix it.
I note that Photoshop titles the window "filename.cr2", rather than "filename-edit.psd" as before. I also don't get the 1.x dialog "Edit a copy with Lightroom adjustments [etc]". But I only get this when editing (Canon .CR2) RAW files. If I re-edit a PSD, I get the dialog, then all is as with 1.x.

  • Exposure and lens distortion slightly different after photoshop edit

I'm pretty new to Lightroom and Photoshop, I have a pretty good understanding of Lightroom but not much with Photoshop yet.  I opened a photo that I edited the way I want including lens correction, exposure, etc. from lightroom into photoshop, did some editing with the patch tool to fill in some bare grass area on an exterior shot, then saved photoshop file as psd file in photoshop, then closed file and went back to lightroom, the photo seams to have a slightly different lens distortion not the way I want and different exposure compared to my original edited raw image.  Why is this happening?  why does photoshop slightly change the lens distortion?

Is LR applying lens distortion, again, by default, perhaps also vignetting correction which would change the exposure especially in the corners?
Most lens profiles that contain information about geometric and vignetting corrections are for raw files only, but a few also have non-raw versions.  it is possible that your LR defaults say to apply lens corrections whenever a file is imported and for the lens you're using there are both raw and non-raw lens profiles.
A simple way to tell if this is occurring is to go to the Lens Corrections / Profile tab and see if Enable Profile Corrections is checked or not, and if it is, turn it off and see if the image is more the same as the original raw + your PS patch work.

  • Audio no longer synced on timeline or preview panel after all editing was finished. HELP?!?

Ok, so I am editing a package that is about 8 minutes in length. I had pretty much finished it, save for a few minor touches here and there. I had decided to review it again today and behold, none of the audio was synced to the video anymore. It had been yesterday, as far as I know. It's not just off a little. It seems the audio from the end of the footage is now toward the front and the rest is all jumbled up also. The footage was shot on a miniDV 60 minute Sony tape and had imported just fine. The video file that was imported is still synced when played in Windows Media Player, but as soon as I import it to Premiere Pro CS5.5 it is just like the file that is out of sync. I have other packages on the same timeline from other tapes and they are playing just fine. I thought maybe I had moved the audio tracks separately from the video, but as I stated, even in the preview panel the audio is off.
I have attempted to unlink and relink the footage and have attempted to just start over from scratch, which I DO NOT want to do, and just add the same file to the batch and re-edit.
Is the file corrupt? Is it Premiere Pro CS5.5 that is messing up? Or is it user error that can easily be fixed? Do i need to reimport the footage from the tape to the computer instead of just the file to PP?
I have been working on this package for a few weeks now and would hate to have to restart it. If tere is a solution to this, other than starting over, I would greatly appreciate the help!
Also, watching through it now, the audio isn't only out of sync but also jumpy and it cuts in and out every so often for just a frame or two. This makes me think possibly the file is bad...

In Premiere, you 'capture' from tape and you 'import' digital media files.
Was this DV footage captured from tape using Premiere?
You can try deleting your Media Cache files.
    Edit > Preferences > Media
Under 'Media Cache Database' hit 'Clean'.
This will delete the Database only.
Navigate to the location specified under 'Media Cache Files',
open the folder, select all and delete.
The Media Cache Files and Database will automatically re-generate
when you re-open your Project... allow plenty of time for it to finish.
You can also try deleting your Preview files.
Project > Project Settings > Scratch Disks
Navigate to the location specified in 'Video Previews / Audio Previews',
open the folder, select all and delete.
When you re-open your Project, Premiere will ask for the location
of the missing Preview files... select 'Offline'.
Re-render the Preview files if needed.

  • CS6 thumbnails not taking updates after RAW edit, cleared cache

Cleared cache and changes are appearing in the Camera Raw edit screen, save the changes, clear the thumbnail cache and the changes are not reflected in the thumbnail.  This use to work fine in CS4, any suggestions?

If you have Bridge thumbnails set to embedded raw edits will not show.  Need to have one of the HQ varieties for this to happen.  Can change in toolbar second row right side.

  • Thumbnails of psd images sometimes do not update after edit

After scanning a bunch of negatives I decided to add the images to iPhoto in the psd format, which I wanted to keep. In iPhoto I have one roll for each film roll. I have iPhoto preferences set so that I edit in PSE. On some rolls after I edit and go to the iPhoto window and then single click on the thumbnail, the thumbnail changes to the edited version, as I would expect. However on other rolls when I repeat this, the thumbnail doesn't change to the edited version. When I double click I do get the last edited version of the image. (Also true if I edit in the Main Window.)
In PSE file saving preferences I have: On First Save= Save Over Current File. Also Max PSD file compaibility = Always.
Anyone have any idea as to what is going on. Thanks,
    Owen

How are you editing those psd files? With Photoshop? If so then here's the correct way to use PS with iPhoto:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 6 the Saving File preferences should be configured: "On First Save: Save Over Current File". Also I suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds

  • Previews in Adobe Bridge in Essentials View do not update after manipulation in Adobe Camera Raw

When I open a RAW file in Bridge and manipulate it in ACR, the preview is not updated in Bridge Essentials View.  The only way I can get it to update the preview is to open the file in "Preview" view, then it updates and looks fine in Essentials view.

Is Bridge set up to store the ACR modifications to those XMP files? Only then it can update the preview right after working on it. Else you need to refresh the preview cache.

  • After the latest update to Photoshop 2014, something went wrong and started spray-like black oil on canvas. I have deadline with cover. Can you help me please?

How do I undo whatever went wrong after installing the latest update to Photoshop 2014 and suddenly when I tried to paint or touch up my illustration (book cover I'd drawn and painted, then scanned in and continued painting, changing. It's mostly done but I needed to send it like yesterday!!) OR touch up a photograph, black-like oily smudge-like substance sprayed around the point of the brush. I tried to fix by resetting but really didn't know what to do and probably made it worse. However, the problem happened after I updated the Photoshop Creative Cloud 2014 on my desktop 8.1 Windows and after a Tech helped update the regular CC Photoshop on my laptop 2007, 64 bit Windows to 2014. He promised to call back after giving it time to install but didn't for whatever reason on Friday. That happened to go up to the same update I did on my Windows 8.1 Windows. I have this deadline and really stressed. COULD IT BE THE UPDATE OR BOTH. REGARDLESS, CAN SOME EXPERT HELP ME UNDO WHATEVER THE UPDATE AND/OR I DID? I'm a God-gifted artist but only started using Photoshop CC, then updated to 2014--which, again, I like even better--when I began my monthly membership January or February 2014, although I had paid version 2002 and updated to paid version 2004 (ownership, not paid subscription like now). I've learned so much, including transforming, moving, stretching, with layers--all in the painting area with my illustrations--a little touch ups with photography.  MY EMAIL IS: [email protected] I really appreciate any help. This needs to be resolved today, the latest tomorrow--I could call tomorrow, however. I was chatting with a Tech support but lost him about an hour or less back. I have the case number and name and gave him my contact number, but they won't be in until tomorrow. He's supposed to give info and escalate the case. I really need an answer--if possible, today. It may require going back to before installing the latest update. THANK YOU KINDLY. Glena Jessee-King

  • Extension no longer shows in Photoshop after updating to Photoshop 13.0.1

I develop a commercial plugin for Photoshop, last weekend I had a few clients update their Photoshop CS6 (Mac) to 13.0.1.  Once they did this, the plugin is no longer is listed in the Window > Extension list.
I then updated my Photoshop CS6 to 13.0.1, and tried to debug using Creative Suite Extension Builder 2.0.  The extension never shows up and I cannot open it.
    Please advise.
    Cheers,

    Hi Nate,
I suspect that the HostList entry in the extension manifest is limiting the upper bound of the Photoshop version. Can you try editing your manifest like below?
    <HostList>
    <Host Name="PHXS" Version="[13.0,13.9]" />
    <Host Name="PHSP" Version="[13.0,13.9]" />
    </HostList>
    Hope that helps,
