Preview will not allow me to save a new version of a JPG

Help, please!
I open a JPG file. I need to submit it to a film festival, but the size is too large. I click on the "Get Info" for the file, unlock it, close the Get Info panel, open the file--it remains "locked." I try to both duplicate and export it, using the JPG extension and attempting to save it a lower byte size; when I go to name the file, it only says: "The document ABC could not be saved as XYZ."
I cannot do anything to reduce the size of the file within Preview. What am I missing?

Where have you tried saving to?
Have you tried different locations/hard drives/usb keys?

First check the version of the document with Jongware's script "Identify.jsx" (ExtendScript/JavaScript).

If it is CS 5.5 or above, you need someone to open it in the version the script says and export an IDML representation from that. Another way would be to install a 30days version of CS6 or above (CC) and do it yourself.
In regards of the script showing a result for InDesign files higher than CS6:
CS7 = CC v9
CS8 = CC v10 = CC-2014 or CC2014.1

Try exporting to .idml. If that works, openthe .idml and save as a new .indd.
If it doesn't work, force quit ID and then restart. Auto-recovery should kick in and reopen the file at about the last state, then try again.

Photoshop CC will not allow me to save files

Photoshop CC will not allow me to save any files. It will bring up the "save as" window, but then it immediately disappears when trying to select a save location. No error messages, it just disappears. Any ideas? Running it on a Mac OS X Mavericks. Have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, created a new profile which worked for a few saves, but started doing it on the new profile as well.

I uninstalled Photoshop CC along with the preferences.
I restarted, and logged back into Creative Cloud
where i reinstalled Photoshop CC.
Began immediately working in the program
and of course testing the save for web feature along with the other save options.

InDesign will not allow me to save my work. Why is this? Time sensitive project.

I downloaded the free trial for InDesign, and have been using it to work on an important project. I have had the free trial for a little while, but I am not exactly sure how long. I opened it about an hour ago, and it still offered the "continue trial" option, so I clicked it, but now it will not allow me to save or export my file to PDF. I am near completion on the project. It is due today, but if I am not able to save the file, I will not be able to submit the assignment. Is my inability to save the file a result of the trial running out mid-session? If so, what can I do to recover the work I have done?

Try a Save As
Create another document and move pages from the problem document to the new - attempt to save
Create a simple, one word document and try to Save or Export
I cannot answer to how the trials work.
I expect you have an acount - (most) current releases are subscription based - check your account status
Check the date stamps in your Program Folders pertinant to InDesign

If not, copy the AddressBook folder from your username/Library/Application Support/ folder on the old mac (or backup).
Copy it to the same location on your new Mac, replacing the one that is there. Start Address Book in Mountain Lion and it should convert the files to the correct format.
If you do have addresses, it is a little more complicated.
First, create a Contacts Archive (from File>Export menu). This will be your backup.
Next, export the current contacts as vCards.
Then, follow the steps above.
Then, import all the cards you exported. If you select all and double-click, it will ask if you want to add them. You'll then have to add them to whatever groups you had set up.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can't (only) de-authorise computers you no longer have access to.
Your only option is to de-authorise all your computers and then re-authorise those you wish to be authorised. You can do this by logging into your account settings in iTunes on your computer (Store > View My ID) and selecting the option to de-authorise all.
Please note however, you are only permitted to do this once in each 12 month period, therefore you would be better de-authorising your computers before you lose access to them. you can do this from the 'Store' menu in iTunes.

Computer will not allow me to save/copy images any longer

I've recently switched from a PC to Mac. I am trying to figure out why my computer will not allow me to drag a pic from Safari into a document or folder for me to save. It worked fine for hours today and now whatever I try will not work. I've even switched websites and programs (first tried saving directly to folder and then tried dragging into Word). Could I have possible turned that fuction off? Please help! Thanks

HT2204 I have a different email address and itunes will not allow me to use my new ID! I cant download anything!

Itunes wont authorize to me to dowload anything - I haven't accessed Itunes for over a year during that time my computer crashed, I had to change email addresses and things got lost...like passwords and so forth and so on...I recieved two emails to [email protected] from itunes saying all was good and then all wasn't good. Please, can you help me!

I suggest you go to Apple's ID site, log in and update everything. Then you will surely get a confirmation mail.
Once all is done, you will most probably be able to log in to the iTunes store again.

Some websites I can save as bookmarks while others will not allow me to save them as bookmarks. I have gone through the scenarios to determine what is causing this to occur to no avail. Can anyone help me?

Most websites I try to save will NOT save as a bookmark...not sure why? Some sites will work while others will not

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
