Preview won't paste from note to Word 2011

Hi,
so the problem is this: somehow I am not able to paste copied text to Word 2011. The trick though is that it's not siply text from PDF opened in Preview, in which case everything is fine, but the text I copy from note on PDF in Preview.
Microsoft Word is for mac and everything works fine. The default paste option is changed to mach destination formatting.
Any ideas?
Thanks for your time.

Hi guys
- No - the problem does not exist with PrntScr - I can paste in a whole screen, but not an copied image.  But can still paste a copied image into MS Paint.- is that a clue?
- I will update the drivers
- no Nik plugs
Thanks guys

    I have Windows 8, Word 2007. Seems with latest update I can no longer paste from web into word or excel. Cut item shows in clipboard but will not paste into the document. Can someone help?

    Problems with copy and paste are usually caused by some poorly designed add-in. You should troubleshoot for add-ins; follow the steps for startup and COM add-ins in the article at

  • I cannot copy and paste from email to word processor in microsoft 7, not Office

    why can I not copy and paste from Yahoo email into Microsoft 7 word processor. I don't have Office. I used to do this all the time using Control C to copy and Control V to paste but recently AT&T installed Firefox and I think that's when the trouble started

    There are a range of different kinds of forms. For example, this site uses very simple controls that don't automatically convert Word's formatting to an online format. The site where you are trying to paste your resume probably works differently.
    What methods have you tried using to paste? Typically one of these will work:
    * Ctrl+v
    * right-click > Paste
    * Edit > Paste (from the menu)
    Some sites offer their own buttons to paste, but for security/privacy reasons, Firefox usually disables those.

  • I can't copy paste from pdf to word due to Unicode character problem.

    I was able to copy paste from a pdf document on word and all of a sudden it won't let me paste anymore. Well, I can paste the text but it come up as 'square' thingy. The spanner icon lights up and says This document contains unicode characters that might not display correctly in the earlier version of the office. I'm using Office/Word 2008 on my Mac book air..
    I just dont understand why all of a suddent it wont past from the same pdf I was using to copy text from.
    Thanks.

  • Extract All Embedded Files in All Folders and Save Each? Copy/Paste from PDF to Word?

    I have most of what I need here, but I’m missing 2 important pieces.
    #1)  I want to copy/paste from all PDF files in a folder and paste the copied data into a single Word file.
    It works fine if I have ONLY Word docs in my folder.  When I have PDF files and Word files, the contents of the Word files are copied in fine, but the contents of the PDF files seem to come in as Chinese, and there is no Chinese in
    the PDF, so I have no idea where that’s coming from.
    #2)  I want to extract all embedded files (in all my Word files) and save the extracted/opened file into the folder.  Some embedded files are PDFs and some are Excel files.
    Here the code that I’m working with now.
    Sub Foo()
    Dim i As Long
    Dim MyName As String, MyPath As String
    Application.ScreenUpdating = False
    Documents.Add
    MyPath = "C:\Users\001\Desktop\Test\" ' <= change this as necessary
    MyName = Dir$(MyPath & "*.*") ' not *.* if you just want doc files
    On Error Resume Next
    Do While MyName <> ""
    If InStr(MyName, "~") = 0 Then
    Selection.InsertFile _
    FileName:="""" & MyPath & MyName & """", _
    ConfirmConversions:=False, Link:=False, _
    Attachment:=False
    Dim Myshape As InlineShape
    Dim IndexCount As Integer
    IndexCount = 1
    For Each Myshape In ActiveDocument.InlineShapes
    If Myshape.AlternativeText = PDFname Then
    ActiveDocument.InlineShapes(IndexCount).OLEFormat.Activate
    End If
    IndexCount = IndexCount + 1
    Next
    Selection.InsertBreak Type:=wdPageBreak
    End If
    On Error Resume Next
    Debug.Print MyName
    MyName = Dir ' gets the next doc file in the directory
    Loop
    End Sub
    If this has to be done using 2 Macros, that’s fine.
    If I can do it in 1, that’s great too.
    Knowledge is the only thing that I can give you, and still retain, and we are both better off for it.

    Hi ryguy72,
    >>When I have PDF files and Word files, the contents of the Word files are copied in fine, but the contents of the PDF files seem to come in as Chinese, and there is no Chinese in the PDF, so I have no idea where that’s coming from.<<
    Based on the code, you were insert the file via the code Selection.InsertFile. I am trying to reproduce this issue however failed. I suggest that you insert the PDF file manually to see whether this issue relative to the specific file. You can insert PDF
    file via Insert->Text->Object->Text from file.
    If this issue also could reproduced manually, I would suggest that you reopen a new thread in forum to narrow down whether this issue relative to the specific PDF file or Word application.
    >> I want to extract all embedded files (in all my Word files) and save the extracted/opened file into the folder.  Some embedded files are PDFs and some are Excel files.<<
    We can save the embedded spreadsheet via Excel object model. Here is an example that check the whether the inlineshape is an embedded workbook and save it to the disk for you reference:
    If Application.ActiveDocument.InlineShapes(1).OLEFormat.ClassType = "Excel.Sheet.12" Then
    Application.ActiveDocument.InlineShapes(1).OLEFormat.DoVerb xlPrimary
    Application.ActiveDocument.InlineShapes(1).OLEFormat.Object.SaveAs "C:\workbook1.xlsx"
    Application.ActiveDocument.InlineShapes(1).OLEFormat.Object.Close
    End If
    And since the Word object model doesn't provide API to save the embedded PDF, I would suggest that you get more effective response from PDF support forum to see whether it supports automation. If yes, we can export the PDF as embedded spreadsheet like code
    absolve.
    Hope it is helpful.

  • I can't copy and paste from Word to the Internet (Firefox or Chrome), but I can copy and paste from Internet to Word

    I suddenly can't copy and paste text from Word to the internet (Firefox or Chrome, email or other websites), but I can do the reverse. Any ideas? Copy and paste works between Word docs, and it works between internet sites (e.g., web page to email), just not from Word to the internet. Please help. I need to copy and paste my resume for an online job application.

  • Copy and Paste from TextEdit to Word

    I have been told that I can simplify images in Word easily by copying into TextEdit, and then back into Word. I can copy and paste into TextEdit easily, but am unable to select, copy, and paste a graphic from TextEdit into Word. Is there some key I"m not pressing? Or some other trick?

    Hi
    I have got a similar problem.
    I use Firefox 3 (latest) and I can not copy text and images from a webpage to MS Office 08. I get only plain text. I tried all combination of Browser and office Suites. Always the same problem. I get plain text. Only one combination works fine. Safari and Apple iWorks. But I bought MS Office, because I need the compatibility to Windows. What a kind of problem is that with the clipboard?
    Please Apple, me and many other people need a solution for that problem. Are the Devs of the other browser and office suits so stupid?

  • Images won't paste from clipboard to PS CS5 - is this a bug?

    Hi
    If I copy an image from a browser or anywhere on my machine, it won't paste into CS5.  Sometimes it does to start off with, but then it won't anymore.
    If I paste the image into MS Paint, it appears, but not in CS5.
    Anyone figured out a workaround for the glitch?
    I tried purging the clipboard, but it didn't fix the problem.
    Cheers

  • Copy and pasting from PDF to Word for Mac

    I have a Mac Book Pro and I am having difficulty in copying from PDF to Word documents. Specifically, I cannot highlight the text that I want to move to the Word document. I have followed the help suggestions, and found that the PDF has not encription barriers. The cursor does not go from the arrow head to the other symbol that would allow me to highlight that which I want to copy. I have the text tool, and under edit, the copy word is ready. I am at a loss, as I can copy from e-mail and other things. Thanks.

    I'm glad you've got the problem licked now, or at least understand the limitations on some of your downloaded PDF documents. I suspect those limitations will apply to all documents that are downloaded from the same database or source, and will consistently not apply to documents downloaded from specific other databases, because of differences in the way documents are scanned by different database services.
    By way of clarification, let me just point out that what you are calling Acrobat, which used to be called *Acrobat Reader,* is now officially called *Adobe Reader.* Adobe changed the name to distinguish more clearly between Acrobat — an expensive commercial application for +creating, modifying and manipulating+ PDF files — and the freeware Adobe Reader, which only enables you to view them. You'll avoid needless confusion by calling the Reader by its proper name in the future. No big deal, though: lots of people make the same mistake here. (I've explained this distinction to my wife any number of times, and have finally learned not to bother doing it again: she simply doesn't care.)

  • Copy and paste from pdf to word

    Hello,
    When I cut and paste pictures from pdf files into my word documents using my mac, the pasted content appears colored black and I am not able to select what I truly mean to. I am able to do this easily with a pc - but prefer to do it with my laptop.
    Thanks for your help,
    ktkayteakt

    Try using shift/apple/4 - gives you a cross-hair selector to grab part of the screen - saves as Picture1.png to your Desktop then drag that into Word.
    Or, /Utilities/Grab

  • Cut and paste from Safari to Word doc please Help!!!!!

    I am trying to take a map from the internet via either Mapquest or Rand Mcnally maps and put it in a Word document, and I cannot figure out how to do it. I have tried to highlight the map and cut and paste it in the document but this is not working, if anyone out there knows how to perform this function, please let me know as soon as possible.
    Thanks
    Chris Knop

    Hi knopper, Welcome to Apple's Users Help Users Forums.
    This should work. :~)
    1] cmd shift 4 brings up a cross hair.
    2] drag cross hair across the map and release.
    3] see the png file, maybe jpg, on your desktop or where you have system store new things.
    4] open to make sure its what you want.
    5] copy it into word.
    If that works, I like Green or Gold stars. See Apple info on the email alerts.
    Thanks, Joyous Computing, JP

  • Copy and paste from Excel to Word, tabs get messed up intermittently

    I use a couple templates I've developed for quoting and have trouble using them since I've switched to Windows 8.1, and Office 2013.  I copy from Excel and paste into windows.  When I first installed the new software it worked fine.  Then
    it started doing crazy things with the tabs.  A column in Excel would be way wider in Word to the point my table would be off the screen.  Then it got better.  Then it got bad again.  The problem seems to be intermittent.  I just re-installed
    Office.  No change.
    I saw one person's note about having the file you are copying to open or closed when copying from Excel.  Tried that but no change.  Any ideas?  So two problems:
    1. pasting doesn't work
    2. the software seems unstable
    Just discovered a work around.  I think, since the problem does seem to come and go.  The template was initially developed in Office 2010.  It works fine in 2013, except for pasting apparently.  When I recreated the template in 2013, it
    seems to paste correctly - so far.

    This is probably just like what you've discovered, these are old templates created in Office 2010, which might have compatibility issue.
    Re-created them within Office 2013 should fix this.

  • Preview won't open from dock

    If I double click on a desktop icon Preview will open in toolbar.  But if I click on it on the dock, nothing happens.  What's up?

    Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
    The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
              SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
    from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
    Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then take an action that isn't working the way you expect. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
