Previewing BarCode In PDF Format Using Microsoft Word
Hello,
I'm having trouble using word to preview bar code font in pdf using XML Publisher.
The bar code shows prefectly well in html and in excel, but it does not show in PDF.
Can anyone help me with this problem?
Thanks in advance

Hi Blisss
Its showing in HTML and Word becasue you have the barcode in your windows/fonts directory so when the doc is generated the font can be accessed. In the case of PDF the barcode needs to be embedded into the output. You need to treat the XMLP engine running on your desktop as a server ie the font needs to be available to the engine at runtime. So, you need to update the xdo.cfg file to point to the font in the fonts directory ... check the user guide for some more help.

Dante font used in manuscript … when I try to save as a pdf document in Microsoft Word whole pages change their look, with wide gaps forming between certain paragraphs or sections. This does not happen with other fonts.
OK, we've got it!
What is happening is that when you use Microsoft's save as PDF in Word, the font isn't embedded even though the font is tagged to allow embedding. Furthermore, Microsoft doesn't properly put the font name into the PDF file such that Acrobat or Reader can readily find the font installed on your system such that the text can be properly displayed and/or printed. Acrobat and Reader attempt to display and/or print the text using a “substitution font” and of course, as they say, YMMV (“your mileage may vary”)!
I personally submitted the report of this problem (both the embedding and the font name problem) to Microsoft. They acknowledge the bug, tried a fix and provided me a build with it, but it wasn't right. Maybe they will ultimately fix it, maybe they won't. We don't know yet. We do know that if it is fixed, it will be fixed only for Office 2013 (problem occurs with all Office applications since they use the same PDF generation code) and thus such a fix won't help you.
Adobe Acrobat Standard and Acrobat Pro both provide an Adobe PDFMaker plug-in to Office applications (including full support for Office 2010) that adds an Acrobat Toolbar as well as a Save as Adobe PDF menu item. The resultant PDF file fully supports embedding of OpenType CFF, TrueType, and Type 1 fonts and in many other ways produces much superior PDF with a full range of PDF generation options not available with the Microsoft PDF. (Note that beginning with Office 2013, Microsoft does not support Type 1 fonts in Office documents at all, even for existing documents!) The Acrobat Office functions are widely used and respected in the end user community and whatever “issues” there are (all software has “issues” of some type - it is a matter of how many and how severe), you should be in much better shape for PDF production that with what you currently are using.
Good luck and let us know if this resolves your problems. (Note that you can download and install a free fully-functional 30 trial of Acrobat Pro to assure that it meets your needs! You can then buy a license and activate what you already have installed.)

Converting PDF files to Microsoft Word
I downloaded a PDF file to Microsoft word, but I can't edit it. Why?
That suggests that the PDF was not created with PDF Maker that retains the format information. As a result, there is not much you can do with Acrobat if it is not converting properly. You can try to save as HTML or RTF and import those into WORD. Sometimes those conversions will do better, but not real sure.
You can also use a copy and paste from the PDF with the alt key held down to force the column mode of copy. Unfortunately, with Acrobat there is not much more you can do. There are some 3rd party products that focus on the conversion to WORD and I understand do a much better job for the type of untagged document you likely have. Check with PDF Zone or Planet PDF for the 3rd party solutions. Be aware, they are not cheap either. -
how can I use microsoft word, power point and those apps in my new iMac ? i bought this iMac yesterday so am new on tho and i would like to know
If you absolutely must have the Microsoft applications, you can purchase and download them from http://microsoft.com/mac.
Free software suites LibreOffice and OpenOffice offer similar functionality (word processing and spreadsheets).
Or you could do worse than look at Apple's Pages, Numbers and Keynote, which should already be installed in your Mac and can export to Microsoft formats if need be.

Can I convert a PDF to a Microsoft Word Document in Acrobat Pro?
Does Acrobat PRO have the tools to convert an existing PDF to a Microsoft Word Doc?
Yes, but the quality of the conversion depends on the structure of the PDF itself. Be prepared to recognize that the conversion may not be perfect if the PDF structure is not proper. You may also want to try the option to retain the format versus the text flow.

PDF file and Microsoft Word files
I love all the big improvements apple is making to their product lines. But I am a practical person who needs to open pdf. files and Microsoft Word files on the go. That is why I will still pick a Treo, Dash, and any other pda over the Iphone. When is apple going to make a real war against PDA's and produce these kinds of software? This would make the Iphone the ultimate phone.
Actually you CAN store them on your phone -- you need to download the free program FileMarkMaker (Its in versiontracker for mac, don't know if it is available for PC users)
It allows you to attach any PDF within a URL address and save it as a bookmark, and sync it to your iPhone. You can then read it anytime (you don't need an internet connection) by going to the name of the link you created for the file in Safari. Works perfectly -- I have everything from Maps of the subway stations for the cities I visit to manuals and documents on it.
Just one caveat -- you can't search or use other features from within that Safari page - it will just crash the safari application -- you need to change to a blank safari page before you can use google or other safari features. -
No Create Adobe PDF button in Microsoft Word 2000
Hi,
I recently purchased and installed Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.0 and am working my way through Adobe Acrobat Classroom in a Book. I've learned there should be a "Create Adobe PDF" button in Microsoft Word (and Excel, etc.), but there are none in mine. If I use the Adobe PDF printer, an untagged PDF will result.
I'm using Microsoft Word 2000; is that version too old to support the addition of a Create Adobe PDF button within the application? I've also recently installed Omnipage and buttons for that application installed in Word with no problems.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!Read this:

Why is the text garbled when I convert a pdf file to microsoft word ?
Why is the text garbled when I convert a pdf file to microsoft word ?
Hi amedah,
Could you please try converting any other PDF file with same fonts and then check.
It might also happen due to use of some poor fonts which result in garbled text.
Is the PDF scanned?
Let me know.

OfficeJet 4110 Using Microsoft Word 2003
The printer is attached to computer with USB; trying to print sheets of labels using Microsoft Word 2003 mailing merge.
It will only print 1 address on 1 label at a time.
How do I set the printer to print a sheet of labels with different addresses on each label?
Thank you!As I stated in my previous post, I reverted back to Adobe 7 on the computer
I use every day, but I apologize for not mentioning another alternative. I
still needed the ability to read Adobe 9 files that I could not open with
Adobe 7 and I still needed the ability to complete fillable PDFs that would
not fill with Adobe 7, so instead of requesting a refund (which you already
know is a pain in the behind), I installed Adobe 9 on a newer computer at my
office that is running Windows 7. For some reason, the problems with MS Word
2003 do not occur when running Adobe 9 in Windows 7 environment. So, when I
have an Adobe file I cannot read or fill, I have the person who uses that
computer, read or fill that Adobe file for me. I did not upgrade to Windows
7 on the computer I use every day because "Act! for Advisors" which I use
for my work is not very compatible with Windows 7 unless I upgraded that
program, too. I don't know about you, but I avoid upgrading my operating
system until I absolutely have to because the transition has always been
very time consuming and quite an ordeal for me. -

I have always used microsoft word, we just bought a mac, what program should I now use?
You can use Microsoft Office for Mac, one of the free Office clones such as LibreOffice or Apple's iWork suite of apps. The iWork apps - Keynote (presentation), Pages (word processing & page layout) & Numbers (spreadsheet) are available individually from the Mac App Store. There are also versions for iOS available separately. And, coming this fall, iWork for iCloud.

When trying to open a PDF format using Adobe XI I get an error message that there's a problem opening the document (57)
Hi chasore,
Are you still facing this issue?
Is this issue happening with all the documents you have. If yes, i would suggest try uninstall and reinstall. Or if the documents are located on some shared drive try to copy them on local machine and test again.
