Previewing IE in DW8 issue

Dear Forum Community,
I am using IE8 with Windows 7 and Dreamweaver 8.
When I press the Preview/Debug in Browser button, I have the options to preview in Internet Explorer or Firefox.
The Internet Explorer option is greyed out though, so does not work. Firefox works fine.
However, if I set IE as the Primary Browser and then press F12 it does work!
Any suggestions why the Internet Explorer option is greyed out in the list and how to fix this welcome!

Could just be a feature of DW 8 that is incompatible with Windows 7 since IE8 was not available for testing at the time of DW8's release. If it only works as default, I would leave it as default since Firefox seems to have no issue in either position.

I have updated thru' Preview for Developers long back and not facing any issues on my NL 920 and NL1020.
You can revert back to WP8 using the Nokia Software Recovery Tool.

Windows 8 Release Preview/Photoshop CS6 Licensing issue

I bought and installed Photoshop CS6 on Windows Consumer Preview and it worked flawlessly. I then installed Windows 8 Release Preview. This had to be a clean install. I didn't know I had to deactivate Photoshop before doing the clean install. Installed without a problem. Now when I try and run CS6 it says that the license has expired. I have done all the web and Adobe support told me to do but still has the same issue. Other than waht this article says: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-licensing-product-expired-cs4.html Adobe support isn't interested in helping.
Can anybody help?

I do know there's at least one person on this forum who is using Windows 8 (Kelly is I believe his name) and has gotten Photoshop activated properly.
I've been testing Windows 8 for the past several days (in virtual machines). Microsoft has actually made it worse to use in the release version. They've completely removed Aero Glass, for example, so now everything just looks flat and lifeless. I've written a book that describes how to configure and augment the OS so as to get work done with it. But I'm not sure people are going to want to upgrade to it wiith it looking this bad!
Have you tried removing Photoshop CS6 and using the Creative Suite Removal Tool to clean remnants of it up, then reinstalling? I'm sure the telephone support people would have suggested that; I'm just confirming.
Only thing I can imagine is that Windows 8's UAC system is somehow getting in the way of Photoshop retaining its activation data. It's no longer possible, using the Windows 8 UI, to completely disable UAC, though it is still possible to do it through registry manipulation (something best done by power users and system gurus). If one does apps will no longer run in the "UI formerly known as Metro" - which suits me fine, but may not be good for most folks.
Have you tried running the installer As Administrator?

Overprint Preview question and another issue...

CS4, Win XP.
Overprint Preview question:
The other day i sent a file for printing (poster) in PDF and CS2 formats. For some reason, the printer converted the file to a .tif and then printed. Parts dropped out... Both the PDF and CS2 files looked fine.Description follows:
1/ Background black
2/ Design element over the black (blue lines to form a wave).
3/ Logo in red and white. Plus a line of text in red. And other text in white.
The white of the logo vanished. The red line of text kind of vanished... printed very faintly and only (i think in parts). Printer tried to do a patch job of printing the line separately and pasting... anyway... to cut a long story short, he wanted the final output in .tif. OK...
So, i converted to tif and sure enough... those parts vanished... did a search here and found the solution - view file in Overprint Preview and then in Attributes, turn off the Overprint Fill... so all well...
So, the question is, why does this happen? And, how, do i know in advance that x or y is likely to cause a problem? I have noticed in Bridge that sometimes, parts of a logo or a line of text does not show... but looks fine in AI or Acrobat... now realise the cause, but not the reason.
The other issue...
Same black background(s)... placed Photoshop file/s with a transparent background... Prints fine at the printers (various machines and media) ... But on the laserprinter an HP Color Laser Jet CP1510 series, there's a dark patch around the image (the actual file area).
Again, any ideas?

Many thanks for your earlier inputs, but not quite sure where you got the idea that i want someone or anyone to play detective... i've understood the Overprint problem... and moved on. If anything, maybe i was just musing and wondering if any particular action turns on "Overprint Fill"...

To elaborate, the pix above are product shots which have been cut out and placed on a transparent background... The PS file is then placed in AI CS4 with the object option selected to maintain transparency. The transparent area is printing darker on the printer above. But is fine when sent to commerciqal printers...

Print Preview of particular page issue in SAP script

Hi all,
Kindly help me to resolve the following issue in SAPscript.
I have a particular business requirement to preview a particular page in 'n' pages of a SAPscript. After executing the sapscript calling program, the print window appears, in which i can choose particular page in the <b>Page Selection</b> Field.
The problem is that the preview shows some other page rather than the appropriate page. Please help me to resolve the issue.

You need to call NEW-PAGE command in the sapscript when the user select a page in page selection.
Try this:
create the following text element in the sapscript in any window, preferibly MAIN window
/E PBREAK
/: NEW-PAGE &user_selected_page&
In the Print program: OPEN_FORM returns a parameter called RESULT.
case result-tdpageslct.
when '2'.
user_selected_page = <second page name in the sapscript>
when '3'.
user_selected_page = <third page name in the sapscript>
when others.
clear user_selected_page.
endcase.
if not user_selected_page is initial.
call function WRITE_FORM and call above created text element
endif.
If the pages you are trying to display does not have main window, make sure next page in the page definition is not the same page in the sapscript.

Preview Drag and Drop Issue

I use preview in school a lot. Converting lectures to PDF is a lot easier to use and i us a program called iFlash to make flash cards.
What I want to do is use the text tool to highlight sections of text, drag them to the flash card window and then drop the text there. This is a really quick and easy way to make the flash cards.
This works except when i click back to the card all the text that i dragged is deleted.
Does anyone else have this issue. I have checked, this feature (highlight and drag...) works well in other programs (mail, pages) but not with my flash card program.

That suggests that the problem is with iFlash. Will it accept drags from other programs, besides Preview? If not, it probably doesn't support drag and drop at all. If it does, then its implementation is probably buggy, and you should contact the developer.

Preview "New From Clipboard" issue

I used Preview's "New from clipboard" feature to send a small piece of a larger .pdf and then emailed that .pdf to a client. He sees the small section on his Mac in Mail, but when he opened it by double-clicking on it, it opens the entire original .pdf! This is a major issue with sensitive documents. Is this a bug, or is there a way to make sure that the "New from clipboard" document is only the part intended? Odly, when I open the new .pdf on my Mac, it only opens the small part, *** is the expected behavior.

Can anyone else replicate this behavior, or is it only me?

Preview ASP in DW8

Okay. I'm at my wits end....I recently upgraded to DW8
(WinXP) and can't figure out my own site setup! I use a network
drive as my local and don't *think* I need a testing server. I
simply want to preview my asp pages in IE (7) and FF.
When I DON'T have a testing server setup my browser launches,
but puts
http:// in front of my network drive path (i.e.,
http://public/marketing/website/index.asp).
The address bar in the browser shows the correct path, but it's
trying to go "out" to a website, rather than an internal network
drive.
I've seen some other posts with similar problems, and have
tried everything I've seen in them. I'm obviously missing something
basic - so any help would be most appreciated.

If you wish to test ASP on a local machine, you will need to
set up a testing server for that. Are you using legacy ASP or
ASP.Net?

Site Preview vs. Publish Issues

When I Preview my website, all photo slideshows, Social Media widgets and Menu bars work properly and show up; but when I Publish one of my slideshow photos appears while the rest do not, and my LinkedIN widget does not appear and sometimes neither does my menu bar?
Why would my site be doing this?

I am having the same issue. The Twitter and Facebook widgets suddenly stop showing when the site is published. They used to, now they don't anymore.

'Preview in browser' DW8

hanges to my pages look prior to uploading it to server the page/s doesnt look as it should do. I'm a total novice really at this and so not sure how to describe how the pages look but the text is there but not in the positions it should be and the background colour is missing and there is a small square in middle of the page which is actually the back ground colour..odd?!
I have added screenshots of the view when 'previewed in browser' with DW8 and the actual webpage when accessed via internet exporer - latest version.

PS Everything worked fine on my old xp pc. I have set up different browsers like outlook express and firefox as options to choose when clicking to 'preview in browser'..

Don't worry they are a bit thick up in Yorkshire (either that or their brains are seized up by the snow) from a Southern Softie.
Update:
They do make a good cup of tea though and brew a nice pint of beer as well.

Preview in browser - Opera issue?

I just re-installed LR2 with some changes to video settings and uninstalled 1.4.1 and now I have another issue.
When I go to preview a web gallery my default browser (Opera 9.51) opens with three separate tabs:
1 ) file:/C:/Documents (error page)
2 ) and.com
3 ) settings.com
Anyone else experience this?
XP-64 (LR2 64-bit)

I should add that this is a plain vanilla HTML site, so I wouldn't think that any scripting language issues would be present.

Report preview and printing performance issues in CRXI R2

Hello to all,
We have successfully upgraded a corporate Web reporting site from CR8 to CRXI R2 Server SP3 VS2005 Asp2. Using managed reports, and native Oracle data access, performance has greatly improved. The CRXI site displays the first page in half the time as CR8. These are often very large reports.
The problem we are having is when you try to print, export, or just page thru a report in previewer. It takes as long to go to page 2, or to bring up the print dialog screen as it did for page 1 to display in the first place. This is drastically different from the performance on CR8. On the old site, when a report displayed, you could flip thru it like a Word document. Hardly any pause at all. Clicking on the printer icon brought up the print box immediately.
Is there a way to tell the 'CrystalReportsViewer' to load all pages before showing the first page?
If not, is anyone aware of a third party replacement for the CRV?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Joseph,
What you're seeing is essentially expected behavior for a CR Server (BO Enterprise) based report. When you try to page through a report or print it you're basically rerunning the report on each button click.
To get around this behavior you can put your Report Object / InfoStore object into session and view, page, or print the session object from the viewer.
You can review [Business Objects Note 1203389|https://bcp.wdf.sap.corp/sap/sapnotes/display/0001203389] for an example with the Crystal Reports .NET SDK. You'll want to add check for the session on post back, etc. but the code should give you an idea of how to get started.

Preview and design mode issues

I would like to report a couple of glitches in Muse.
Problem #1:
I had a pair of photos that I added some text with in a separate text box. I had problems with alignment, so I put the photos into a slideshow with the text:
I hit enter to space everything out properly, and a portion of the text moves above where I want it, and overlaps existing text, and the column shrinks:
If I hit enter again, then delete, the text moves back to where I want it to go.
Problem #2:
On occasion, when I preview a page I am designing, it looks jumbled with text in places I never put it and opacity is reduced, like it's under layers. I deleted all text on the page and re-previewed with no difference in how it appeared, text still jumbled and out of place with text I just deleted. I revert to last saved and luckily that fixes it, but it sets me back a few steps. I didn't save any screen shots from that fiasco, but I did with the next one that occurred:
in Design mode I added the red links on the left of the Home page like this:
Preview showed a mess with the text I have on the master page like this, no links, and nav tabs placed above everything:
I have sent this to Adobe for a response with my export file and screen shots and haven't heard anything back yet.
Please advise.

I made some changes to the "Animal Facts" page,
Saved it, Exported it, then uploaded it to my server.
What is shown in "Plan mode" is consistent with what I have designed, but I can't get it
to publish that way:
Now the changes that I made aren't showing up in the Firefox preview when exported, the Firefox view once published, or the preview within Muse.
Further the screen that shows up I can't find on the "Design mode" to change or delete it:

Apple Preview and Interactive PDF Issue

Hello all - I'm having trouble with exporting an Interactive PDF for Preview in which the content boxes align and print identical to that of Adobe Acrobat. See below for pictures. The text out of the boxes are on Apple Preview.

thank you so much for your effort. But I have to say that that's not the solution for my problem.
You see my interactive features work perfectly with Adobe Reader 8. But with the Reader 10 it jsut won't work.

You see, I want the buttons if clicked appear in another state and show a different Picture.

RAM Preview framerate and sound issues

The same story as usual. A beginner who can't get the framerate right or the sound to play in the RAM Preview. Well then:
Ae CS6.11.0.0378, I think
Demo version
7,9 g ram allocatable
Win7 proffesional
Only .avi and .mp4, can't tell much more than that
All other common factors can think of vary between the layers, with no difference.
Sound preview set to 10 minutes
No mute-related settings activated
Sound and volume checked for each individual layer
I don't know what more to submit, there's probably a lot.
It's quite simple. No sound in the RAM preview, and it keeps freezing, not responding when I start it, and playing at random speeds. The sound does play in sound preview. The framerate is set to auto.
That's about all I can think of. It probably needs a lot more detail required, but not anything I can think of. Any help appreciated.

You can get the frame rate right by dragging a clip in question onto the Make Comp icon at the bottom of the project window.
If you're fooling around with time -- time stretch, time remapping, posterize time, time displacement -- or using Rotobrush or Warp Stabilizer -- you should know that AE doesn't like mp4's as the source video. No telling about the avi.
There could also be compressed audio in the video files, and AE has never played nice with compressed audio.
