Previews and purchased movies take eternity to start

I'm using my third Apple TV and second Apple TV 3. I have never been able to watch an entire movie preview at the Apple Store without at least one rebuffering, and usually many. While Netflix starts an HD movie in a few seconds, Apple informs me that I must wait 40 minutes for an HD movie to download, though it shows as "purchased." My Internet connection is 20-25 mbps. Apple is not in the stadium, much less in the game.

That is dependent on your network. Netflix adapts to the connection (it can go as low as 0.2 mbps). iTunes content is fixed and needs to load a portion before playback.
Was your internet connection vierified using speedtest.net?
Have you checked for network interference (istumbler.net)?
Is your DNS set to the ISPs (settings - general - network - DNS should be set to automatic)

Welcome to the Apple Community Tarskforce.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

Preview and Open dialog box on initial start of program?

Okay, I understand that it might be beneficial when starting Preview that an open dialog box also pops up. However, I find it VERY annoying that it does it when I double click on a PDF and Preview goes through it's initial startup. It NEVER did this before...am I missing some setting?
I know it may seem like a small annoyance but, for some reason, it really bugs me.

It did solve the annoyance but definitely seems like a bug to me. I will post in feedback to Apple since opening a pdf in preview and then automatically opening an open dialog box has no value. It also shouldn't be linked to Documents and Data in icloud being checked or not.

Extreme poor quality in full screen preview and exported movie

I have spend evenings and evenings to create the content of a project.
After dealing with error -108 and extreme poor quality in full screen preview and in exported movies (extreme stuttering) I decided to install my iMac new again.
The error -108 disappeared, but the extreme stuttering still remained in full screen preview and in exported movies.
If I make the preview screen in the iMovie browser as big as possible there is nothing to see of any stuttering.
Now I am getting pretty annoyed and have no clue what to do anymore (how to solve this problem) .....
Anyone any suggestion ?
The orginal video was recorded with a Panasonic HD camcorder.
I do have a mid 2011 iMac with 16GB ram and 256GB SSD and 1TB HD with a complete clean installation
of OS X Lion and iLife. This configuration should be enough to create a proper movie :-(

Potentially, yes. The standard Preview is 1024 pixels, longest size. Some people (like Omke) have displays 2560 pixels longest side, potentially increasing file size by over 500%.

Did you purchase the movie? Or did you rent the movie?
Have you tried transferring a purchased move by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
In iTunes 11 use Control+B to show the Menu bar then go to iTunes>File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
Does your country allow a redownload by? Not all countries do and the link also provides a link to what each country allows for redownloads

MetaX and 10.2, and Purchased Movies

Hello.
When I was running 10.1, I had imported some movie files created with Handbrake 0.95 that had Meta Data added using MetaX. The "Long Descriptions" worked fine and when viewing a selection of movies on my iPad I could read about the movie (whatever the long description said). Now not even my iTunes purchased movies have lengthy descriptions anymore....
Any thoughts where the long descriptions went?

Have you seen RAC installations where databases instances are running on two or more Oracle Homes of different versions at the same time? For example a database cluster which is used for test/development would have an Oracle Home which is at version 10.2.0.2. In order to perform tests on a database upgraded to 10.2.0.3 an Oracle Home would be cloned and then have the 10.2.0.3 patchset applied. Then a copy of the production database would be upgraded to 10.2.0.3 using the 10.2.0.3 home. In the end on the same cluster there would be test databases running on both 10.2.0.2 and 10.2.0.3.

Rented movies and purchased movies can be burned in a cd?

I just want to ask you guys if it is possible to burn your rented movies or purchased movies in a dvd-r?

Rented movies can't be burned.
Purchased movies can be burned to a Data CD, but will only play on computers authorized for your account. You can have up to 5 computers authorized for your iTunes Store account at a time.

Dreamweaver preview and flash movie

Greetings All,
Im sure this question has been answeredmany times but i cant seem to find any solutions. Here it is:
- In dreamweaver I add an .flv file to play on my web page.
- When previewing from dreamweaver into Firefox or Safari the movie shows up and plays just fine
- The entire site is uploaded to my FTP ( hosted by godaddy ) and when I check the page the movie is gone. If I right click on the are where the movie is supposed to be, it says "movie not loaded"
I have tried almost everything I can think of. This site is for a client and I could really use any help. here is the link to the page. If someone out there can help and needs more than the link supplied, please let me know.

Is that code something which i missed in dreamweaver. i added a flash movie and did everything that was asked in the pop up. this is above my ability and i am trying to help out a friend. if its not an easy fix, would you be willing to fix it for a fee? please let me know as his boss is applying pressure to get it up and functioning properly.

Lists of 69 cent songs won't open in iTunes, but other offers will open for preview and purchase.

I've been trying to link from email to see the songs offered for 69 cents. The store opens, but when I click on the tabs for #1 Hits or the various genres, I can't view which songs are offered, let only make a purchase. Other links from email work normally.

I wasn't able to access the 69cent songs on my iPad through the email, but I just connected to iTunes through my computer and am able to access them from there. Not the ideal fix, but it works.
Note-I had previously posted in another discussion on this topic but could not find it to post this work-around.

My old computer had to be reset to factory settings . And I bought a new computer. How do I authorize them so I can get my music and purchased movies back? Lost :(

I have an Ipad with it opn but it will not authorize . And my daughters I phone has my account as well but will not authrize either.

Authorizing the computer does not make content magically appear.
Restore the media and other important files from the backup of the computer.
If for some silly reason you have failed to maintain a backup (not smart), download past purchases from iTunes. FYI, not all content is available for redownload.

My PB crashed, and now it takes hours to start up...

I pressed the volume down key on the keyboard, and the computer crashed to the soothing blue generic desktop. Instead of letters on the icon labels and menu bar reappearing, blocks with a capital A appeared instead. My active desktop also did not appear. I tried restarting it, but it froze up. I had to manually restart it, and that resulted in a 20 minute wait on the blank white screen with the little sundial-like thing going around. Minutes later, the blue screen popped up again, followed intermittently by the sundial thing and the rainbow disc.
Eventually, it brought me to the login screen, which took a long time to register each character that I'd typed in. I'm pretty sure that the system wouldn't recognize my username or password, too, as I had no luck inputting them. I'm also sure that something's wrong with the login process as it didn't show the list of users, user avatars, or anything like that. Just the boxes for UN and PW, with restart, shutdown, or "back" options...
I'm really bummed. I haven't a clue what's wrong with it, andI can't use it until this is cleared up.

Hi Nick, Welcome to the Discussions. Sorry for your problem.
The first thing to do would be to boot from the Install & Restore disc that came with your machine by:
1. Inserting the disc, pressing the power button, and immediately after the startup chime, press and hold the C key until you see the spinning gear icon appear on the grey splash screen.
2. After the machine has booted, pick your language, and when the Installer window appears, do not press Continue, but go to the Utilities menu in the menubar and open Disk Utility.
3. In Disk Utility, choose your normal startup volume in the pane on the left and then click Repair Disk. If any errors show in the window, run Repair Disk again until you see 'The volume appears to be OK' in green.
4. Quit Disk Utility, quit the installer and attempt to restart into your regular startup volume.

I uninstalled the Norton Antivirus that comes preloaded on a new pc. I use Microsoft Security Essentials instead.
I want to know what could have happened in the uninstall.
Also, I really would like to talk to a tech person.

Hello leannej926, When you first got your new HP system, you would have needed to activate the Norton Anti-Virus program. This would have required you to set up a Symantec account. Symantec would have the product serial number for your copy of the Norton Anti-Virus program.
If the subscription has not expired, you can go to the Symantec web site and initiate a Chat session, and explain what happened and the Symantec Support representative can resolve this issue for you very easily.
Before you reinstall Norton Anti-Virus, you will likely need to uninstall any other Anti-Virus program, since another program may be seen be Norton as a virus itself.

When will we be able to rent and purchase movies in Ireland? What sites can I go to legally purchase iPod movies?

Just create 2 different playlists like
Movie-ATV
Movie-iPod
Put those video files with higher resolution on playlist Movie-ATV
Put those video files with lower resolution on playlist Movie-iPod
in iTunes Preferences choose your ATV only to sync the 1st movie playlist - and your iPod only to sync the 2nd one.

Purchased movies on Apple TV not showing in iTunes

I have video (purchased TV shows and video made in iMove) and purchased movies on an Apple TV (gen 1). In iTunes, I can see the audio recordings and both purchase and home made video but NOT the purchased movies. I really hate to purchase movies and place it on a hard drive I cannot back up.
1) Why can I not see the purchased movies?
2) Is there a way to back up the hard drive on Apple TV other than through iTunes?

Because they're not in the iTunes library. Control-click the Apple TV in iTunes and choose Transfer Purchases.
