Previews - i must have missed something

spent a lot of time yesterday doing some preview cleanup based on insights here. reset the size. regenerated a lot. deleted quite a few that i knew i would not need.
next time i started up Aperture, it immediately started to build a bunch of previews. i didn't count how many i deleted, but it was probably in the ball park. is this what happened? what else should i have done?

try clicking the little cog when the library ios selected and uncheck maintain previews ...
i read this on a users blog ... can't remember who now, but it really saved me a big headache and some cussing at aperture ...

I've been silly and must have missed something...please help!?

Right, deep breath.
I've had the snow leopard install disk for months (upgrading from 10.5.8) and have not been able to install for various reasons.. I get constant error msg's that seem to vary with install attempts. Anyway my focus is not on them today as I installed successfully for the first time... eh not quite.
I got myself an external HD and backed everything up using superduper. worked great. Then I booted to the snow leopard dvd, did a fresh install by clearing my drive in disk utility and hooray! I was navigating around SL for the first time. But it was brief.
I then restarted and booted from my external drive and used superduper to restore all files back onto my internal HD and after hours waiting I restarted to find I'm stuck again with 10.5.8!!!!!!
Now I know I must of done something really quite stupid here but how can I do pretty much what I described but keeping SL the next time around. It's 4am here and i cant think straight so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Jason.

I am not sure if got all the details.. when you boot from the external you will be on 10.5.8 b/c that is what was backed up now when restore the information it is probably an option so you won't restore the boot/system files have you checked all the options?

I Must Have Missed Something - HELP

I've been a Creative Cloud CS6 user since it was first announced. Now comes Creative Cloud CC Apps. I see I have options to download / update both. Could you point me to a concise rundown of the whats, whys and hows between the two. Can I keep BOTH?
Any assistance would be really helpful. I really love the Cloud version of the CS6 apps and wouldn't want to lose any of their capabilities. The CC versions look good but seem to lose some features compared to CS6 in the cloud.

I must be missing something simple

about a month ago I signed up Creative cloud monthly plan. I downloaded bridge and photoshop. When I click on window to see what has been downloaded it says photoshopCC and bridge CC is up to date. I can open bridge but not photoshop. I have tried and tried to figure it out and must be missing something simple. NowI am frustrated and need help.

Douglashoffman007 which operating system are you using? Where have you tried to open Photoshop CC from?

Surely there is another way to delete existing info. from a keyboard field so that new info can be entered. Can we highlight info to delete it quickly? If so this is proving very difficult. For now I have to press the Delete key repeatedly and it's getting wearisome.

Instead of repeatedly pressing the delete key if you just keep it pressed it will keep deleting characters and eventually speed up and start deleting whole words.

Have a look at your import setting specifically Store Files:
Make sure it is set to where you want the originals to go.
Message was edited by: Frank Caggiano - Don;t empty the system trash. The originals that you deleted from the Desktop are in there and are the only copies you have unless they are still in the camera.

Then I went to iTunes on the Mac Pro and it showed no remote speakers.
In iTunes->Preferences->Advanced, choose the "Look for remote speakers connected with AirTunes" checkbox to display a speakers pop-up menu at the bottom of the iTunes window.

Zooming, I must be missing something....

I'm wanting to zoom in on an area more than the "Zoom to actual size" command does, to get a more detailed look while using the retouch tool. (tried retouching within the frame of the loop, doesn't work) This seems so basic I must be missing something.

You're absolutely right -- Aperture needs an iPhoto-like zoom slider for the entire Viewer window, especially for the reason you describe. There are situations where either the Z-key 100% toggle or the Loupe magnification simply aren't the best tools for the job at hand.
It's one of the MANY (as in several dozen) "enhancement requests" I've sent to Aperture Feedback, many of which (like this one) just strike me as Don't-Even-Release-the-Beta-Until-You've-Got-This-One-Enabled kind of feature.

What is the iCloud Status of the tracks that are not showing on the iOS device?
Switch to Song view and pull down View > View Options then select "iCloud Status" then close the small window.

I must be missing something

I have a maxtor sata drive. When I try to use maxblast 3, their partitioning and format program, I can't customize the partition size.
If you are familiar with this app, when I try to set the size, I can't move the slide to increase the size beyond 0.
It is seeing the drive, this is in the windows part of this app. Also, bios is seeing the drive.
I've tried to boot from the cd & floppy and they both hang at where it says that the cd player program is installed.
I have downloaded new programs from maxtor's site, still no luck.
Anyone have this problem, or can tell me what I am missing?

Yes, you have missed something you missed reading the users manual. It's called Logic Pro 7. It came with your Logic Pro 7 software. None of the GM
instruments will work unless you set them up. If you don't want to set anything up then delete all the GM tracks and load a synth into an audio instrument
track. When you play your Midi keyboard I'm sure you'll hear something nice. If you would rather not read the manual check this site out. www.macprovideo.com

Hello. Must have missed/overlooked some settings for my scanner.

Hi. I'm just starting out in Photoshop and I am supposed to 'import' a scanned file. According to my directions, my scanner should be listed as a choice in the 'import' menu but is not. I think I might have missed this step when I was installing Ps. Does anyone know how I can remedy this? Thanks in advance.

When you scan, what mode do you use?
I prefer Photo over Graphic or Line drawing, and I use RGB 8 bit color, 300 ppi scanning resolution.
I make sure my paper is flat on the glass, even if I must place a book on it.
I place a a jacket over the scanner to prevent light leaking onto the scan.
I turn off any filters and keep all other settings at default.
Then I scan to tiff file format or png. I dislike jpeg if I have to do multiple edits.
Have you tried those settings?

I just don't seem to get it. Opening an old session seems difficult if you can't remember the specific name. Files in those sessions are not saved it seems unless you save each one individually. (Am I wrong here) Can someone help this early morning radio guy...I must be missing a step but I can't figure it out.

Audition won't let you close a session with unsaved files without putting up a warning about it - and you get an option to save all of them. By default, files get put in the {session name}_Recorded file with the sesx file (the session information) in the root folder. In there as well you can get Bounced file folders, and also one for mixdowns. When you first create a session, you get to choose the path you use, and everything else just occurs in a structure beneath that, which you can add to if you want. Whenever you need to save things, you get a browse option as well - worth using that first.
I really don't think it's that difficult, and the new scheme (yes it's not quite like the previous version) seems to work fine. With the best will in the world, Adobe can't compensate for anybody's amnesia though! Since there isn't a particular limit on what name you give your sessions, then the best thing to do if you're likely to forget is to give them longer, more meaningful names - and make sure that the folder they're in has the same name. Also, try to keep a relatively flat folder structure - in other words, don't have them nested several layers deep in a huge tree structure - that never helps.
