Previous Adobe Reader Directories (7.x, 6.x)

I've been using Adobe Reader 8.x for quite awhile and just recently noticed old ADOBE Acorbat/reader directories. Can I delete them without negatively impacting Adobe Reader 8.x (which has it's own directory)? I have the token Photoshop Album but it hss its own directory as well. Thanks....

The graph you cited shows this years' sales fugures and not the actual number of  WM6.x users.
I understand that some platforms (like WM2003) are out of date and support had to be stopped, but top-of-the range WM 6 units were on sale some months ago and Adobe should keep on supporting these users for at least 2-3 years.

  • Can I delete previous Adobe Reader downloads when a new has been updated.

Can I delete prvious downloads of Adobe Reader as my computer is so slow.

As I understand things, if you uninstall previous versions of Reader in Windows, you can ruin the remaining one(s). I would suggest removing all versions of Reader and then doing a fresh install of the version you want to keep. But I have my doubts that having several versions of Reader can slow your computer very much.

  • Adobe Reader 11 - An internal error occurred - Mac OS X 10.9.1

My system is a Mac OS X 10.9.1 which had Adobe Reader working perfectly fine.
I have downloaded and installed the NEW Adobe Reader 11 yesterday.
Every time I open a PDF from any web browser I get a "An internal error occurred" message and nothing opens.
I also get the same error message when I try to open the application from the Applications folder.
There is NO error code ssociated with the error message.
All previous Adobe Reader versions worked fine.
I deleted the "Adobe" folder from the "Library" directory, installed an older version of Adobe Reader but still get the same message.
I have said all the information I have.
Please let me know the solution.

    Files to delete:
Mac HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe - Trash the Reader folder.
    Mac HD/Library/Internet Plug-ins - Trash the AdobePDFViewer.plugin and AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin files.
[user]/Library/Preferences - Trash the com.Adobe.Reader.plist file. (Hold the "Option" key when clicking "Go" from the Finder menu to access your [user]/Library folder)
Mac HD/Applications - Trash the Adobe Reader app.
    Empty the trash.
THEN download the FULL installer from here: http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
That should get you a "clean install" of Reader and the  plug-ins for it.

  • E72 Adobe Reader LE 2.5 cannot reflow PDF

    Hi,
I would like to use the reflow (text wrap) function in Adobe Reader LE 2.5 so that it will be easier for me to use my E72 as a ereader.
Does anyone know how I can reflow PDF using Adobe Reader LE 2.5?  I've tried using different PDFs with and without tags, but I couldn't find any option to reflow the PDF.  I did not try this function in the previous Adobe Reader version.
So if there's anyone who has any success in reflowing any PDF, please let me know.

It seems that this is a misnomer Adobe Reader LE 2.5, which is worst than the one ARLE 1.5. I had a purchased version of ARLE 2.5 that didn't have this issue, also it opens the password protected files. This one with nokia firmware doesn't open the password protected files.
Nokia has release 051.018, where they have put back 1.5 LE. But I dont see the upgrade for my phone when trying to upgrade using the *#0000#, waiting for 051.018 for my phone

The download is successful, saving to file apparently successful, selection of the download is OK too, however, the RUN never finishes.  Previously, Adobe Reader 8 had been  deleted from "Programs". I have Windows Vista - any ideas?

  • Adobe Reader 10.5.0 on ipad 2 very slow

I am reviewing a 380 page PDF and I am finding the the page rendering is painfully slow and any markup review takes ages to select and work.
I was using the previous Adobe Reader version on ipad 2 and it was fine.

Try resetting your iPad by holding down the Home and Sleep/Wake button until you see the Apple logo, then release. Then see if the problem persists.

  • "windows cannot access specified device, path or file", adobe reader x

    hi,
i had an older version of reader (9.something i think) that started making troubles, so i removed it (via control panel) and tried to use reader x instead. but after installing it i tried to run it and got this message titled "c:\programfiles\adobe\reader10.0\eula.exe":
"windows cannot access specified device, path or file. you may not have the appropriate permitions to access the item".
after clicking "ok" the program shuts.
i downloaded this version from adobe's site and registered. i also tried to go back to version 9 but the installation itself wouldn't go.
i'm using windows xp and downloaded reader using chrome. i deleted all previous adobe reader files from my computer prior to downloading, so it should behave as if this the first time this program was installed on it.
how can i solve it? (i've already tried going through the whole process again and again)
    thank you for any help.

I have found out how to solve this issue..
Took A few days to figure it out and a lot of installs and un-installing
Install CS6 master collection again and restart your machine- Make sure all anti-virus is disabled
    What you have to do:
    1. Press Start
    2. go under "Abode Master Collection CS6 (it should say its empty)
    3. now left click the folder "Adobe Master Collection" and open it..
    4. it will now come up with all programmes that SHOULD have worked - their thumbnails will not be visible it will look as if its corrupted.
    5. Now this is a long procedure- go on the first shortcut, lefts click and go to properties.
    6. Then select the option that says "Open File Location" it will then take you to its main folder.
    7. Left click the highlighted Programme within the main folder, then go on properties
    8. Go on the security Tab, press "continue" then you go on "Add" then type your account name, then "check name" then tick the box "full control"
    9. Then navigate to the "compatibility" Tab and select "Run this programme as an administrator (if you don't do this it will come up with another error)
You should now have the thumbnail (picture) for the programme now
You have to now repeat this for the rest of the programmes/shortcut's within the "Adobe Master Collection" Folder

  • Adobe Reader stop constantly Win 7 x64

    I have Windows 7 x64 bits with SP1.
I download the current and previous Adobe Reader X (version 10.1.12).
I cannot operate this program at all. Everytime I open a pdf document, within 10 seconds, the screen froze and dialog panel say this program stopped executing. I have to exit.
In fact, when I google "Windows 7 Adobe Reader stopped working" or "Windows 7 Adobe Reader X stopped working" there are hundreds of entries.
But no solution. Is this Adobe Reader software such unreliable pieces of software?
So, how do I view the pdf documents?

    chk your c:\program files (x86)\Adobe\. .. \plugins

do a disk repair // too make sure your disk isnt corrupted
from explorer | C: | properties | Tools | Error-checking | Check now | (do NOT chk 'recover bas sectors'!) | because its C:, you will be prompted to 'schedule Chkdsk 'at next boot' | yes you do
    reboot
boot | have your disk chk for bad sectors at next boot
(the better way is to reboot in System Recovery | Command Prompt | do a CHKDK /F there, but you have to know to get there)
(above wont repair Reader (but chk plugins, who knows), so, then:)
go Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features
    chk Adobe Reader X
    choose "Change"
    do:
"Repair installation errors in the program. This option fixes missing or corrupt files shortcuts registry etc .."
chk again: ReaderX | plugins there now?
    if not
    uninstall / reinstall
    again chk presence of plugins

  • Why won't Adobe reader no longer let me view previously download (from Safari) pdf's? I am running OSX 10.8.5 and have uninstalled and reinstalled latest version of Reader?

Why won't Adobe reader no longer let me view previously download (from Safari) pdf's? I am running OSX 10.8.5 and have uninstalled and reinstalled latest version of Reader. I get this error message "Adobe Reader could not open 'OD Test Bed Proposals_0.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)."  I have tried changing the 'open with' options too. Thanks

    Try this:
    Go to: Mac HD/Library/Internet Plug-ins
Trash the AdobePDFViewer.plugin and AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin files
    Empty the trash
Relaunch Safari. You can now download undamaged PDFs.

I just updated to Adobe Reader 11.0.07 on my Mac OS version 10.6.8 and now the video files don't work.  How do I uninstall the update and return to the previous version?

I received a notice from Chris Campbell at Adobe that stated : "....we are aware that Macs created between 2006 and 2008 are currently running into problems using the latest release of Flash Player (version 13)."  My question is will the update of Adobe Reader 11.0.07 cause this problem with Flash Player 13 on my Mac?  Sometimes when I try to view streaming video I get sound but no video.

  • PDF Opening in Adobe reader with previous/next buttons always showing

Is there any way to make it so when a specific pdf is opened in Adobe Reader, it always opens with the previous and next buttons showing, regardless of the user's settings?

    No.

  • Adobe Reader 9.1 removes previous Acrobat version

We're going to use Adobe Customization Wizard 9 to customize Adobe Reader 9.1 for deployment to our company users. We used the same wizard to deploy Reader 9.0.
Some of our users have Acrobat 7.0 Standard installed and we need to preserve it, and set Reader 9.1 as default to read pdf. I opened Reader 9.1 in the customization wizard and found the installation option "Remove previous version of Acrobat" is checked and grey-out. That looks like once Reader 9.1 installation will remove Acrobat 7.0.
This is not the case with Reader 9.0.
How to preserve Acrobat 7.0 while deploying Reader 9.1?

Their recommendation is to not install Reader and Acrobat on the same computer.
Correct. They neither support nor suggest having two versions of Acrobat and Reader or a combination of both.

Not my favoured solution, but it'll work I guess.
I can relate. Too bad they can't get around that. I can thinnk of many reasons people would want both (most common being they have an older version of Acrobat to create PDF's but want a newer version of Reader to view newer PDF features.) Keep in mind that many people run both but have no issues whatsoever but there's no guarantees.

  • Adobe Reader XI did not save the form data (unlike previous versions). Any way to recover file?

Adobe Reader XI did not save the form data (unlike previous versions). Any way to recover filled form with data from temp locations?
I was not aware that ctrl+s no longer works in reader and closed the PDF after savign it(with ctrl+s). However ,the data is lost and there seems to be no way to recover it.
I cannot find any temp files created by Reader on my system.
Also to my surprize(and shock), the reader did not even show a warning before closing the PDF. Does anybody know if/where can I recover the file from?
Guys, Please reply ASAP if you have got any sort of solution!

    Hi Pat,
Are you using Adobe Reader XI? And not Acrobat. It does not ask me to save the form if there are unsaved changes.
I have used previous versions of reader for saving this form data and it did allow me to save it with ctrl+s. And those versions did prompt me to save the changes before closing.
I guess I should not have updated the reader.

  • Trusted certificates from your previous version of Adobe Reader were found.

After upgrading Adobe Reader from 10 to 11, some users are getting "Adobe Reader Security - Trusted certificates from your previous version of Adobe Reader were found.  Would you like to import them."  I need to know what registry settings we can modify to either set this automatically to "Import" or "Use Default"  I need to add one of these options into our Adobe Reader Settings GPO that is using group policy preferences.  This only appears for users who have data in C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Acrobat\10.0\Security and only the very first time the user opens Adobe Reader after the upgrade per user profile on a given server.

I'm not sure this is true: "If they don't exist then there is no dialog. " Could be, but I've never heard of it.
However, acrodata files perform a number of functions for several features, so removing them is unwise. Also, they will just come back when a user exercizes certain features.
Better to just turn off the feature with the supported preference.
