Previous Systems-can you delete?

I had so many problems with Leopard on my Dual 867, that I reinstalled Tiger. Can I delete the previous system, which is leopard or will that cause major problems?

Yes, you can delete it. It's just there so you can grab stuff out of it if it wasn't properly migrated; that folder is never used by the system itself.

at some point last year something went wrong with my macbook. it asked if i would like it to make a back-up of everything before moving on. i said yes.
i just noticed that in my HD folder, there is a folder called "Previous System", which i assume is a complete copy of the system i had last year before whatever problem i had occurred. thing is, this folder is over 10 GB.

"After installation
You might wonder "What do I do with the Previous System folder?" It may contain items that you need. To determine this, once you've finished configuring, installing, and updating your applications, you can compare the Previous System to the new System. If there are things in the Previous System folder that aren't in the new System folder, copy them over or reinstall. If you're not sure what some items are (and don't seem to need them), leave them in the Previous System folder. Once you're comfortable that you've got everything you need out of it, you can delete the Previous System folder (or leave it around if you have enough free disk space)."

Are you using Secondary Indices on the ODS objects. I thought the Primary Index (which is also the Key Part of the ODS) is automatically updated during the Data Activation in the ODS. I am not sure if the Secondary Indicies are also automatically updated by the system.

You cannot delete the preinstalled apps on the iPad. You can check by tapping and holding down on the icon until it wiggles. If no X appears, you cannot delete it.

Sorry, that feature can't be "removed" without breaking a security part of Firefox, and the developers didn't provide a "switch" to allow parents to turn it off. In all honesty though, even if that Bug is fixed a child can just delete their browsing history in any browser quite easily; sure you'll see that it has been deleted, but you still won't know where they have been. You really need to install some Parental Controls on that PC that tracks the web sites that are being visited outside of a web browser, and can only be accessed with a password.
I don't have any recommendations for that type of software, as I haven't needed it myself. Never had any children, and if I did even my grand-children would probably be old enough not to need monitoring like that.

VPC does not run on Intel Macs. If you wish to use virtualization on an Intel Mac see this:

There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
1. Install the Apple Boot Camp software. Purchase Windows XP w/Service Pak 2 or Vista. Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows. Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
2. Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, or Vista Ultimate. Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
3. VM Fusionand Windows XP, Vista Business, or Vista Ultimate. VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
4. CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows. The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
5. VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris. It is not yet fully developed for the Mac - some features are not yet implemented - but it does work otherwise.
6. Last is Q. Q is a freeware emulator that is compatible with Intel Macs. It is much slower than the virtualization software, Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc. There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization. The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system.

Boot Camp is only available with Leopard. The Boot Camp Beta that was used with Tiger has expired and is no longer available for use. So contrary to the other poster's comment, Boot Camp isn't truly "free." You must purchase Leopard to get it.
You can upgrade XP to Vista without having to make any changes to the Boot Camp partition. Vista can either perform an upgrade install or erase the Windows volume before installing Vista. You don't need to do anything to change the partition via Boot Camp. However, if you need to enlarge the partition, then the only way that can be done is to first use Boot Camp to remove the partition. Then use Boot Camp to make a new, larger partition. All data from the Windows partition will be lost.
