Previous tabs in safari refreshing to current

When having multiple tabs open:
Very often I find the previous tabs to be blank- and when trying to go back to them- they refresh to the page I just had open in another tab (all of them)-
This definitely defeats the purpose of having tabbed browsing.
Has anyone else had this issue?
This started about a month ago-
I've tried restarting/hard restarting.
Hope that made sense...
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have had that problem too. I don't remember it happening before update 1.1.1 It is pretty annoying. I love this machine, but so far, it is pretty buggy. I hope
Apple is working hard on solidifying the software on this one before they upgrade the iPhone.

  • Everytime I open a new tab, Firefox automatically refreshes the currently open ones.

When I attempt to open a new tab, Firefox automatically refreshes the already opened and loaded websites in other tabs.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    See:

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • Is there a way to automaticaly open all previous tabs after safari restart?

because i allways have many tabs open, it is anoying to reopen them everytime when i open safari or when it crashes. opera has such a feature for example or seamonkey.
to "open all the windows of the last session" wont somehow do the job...

    Hi,
if i change browser, which one would you suggest? Cabino, Firefox (isnt this the older version of Seamonkey?) or Seamonkey?
    They are all related.
SeaMonkey is essentially the old Mozilla application under a new name - this includes Web-browser, e-mail and newsgroup client, IRC chat client and HTML editor
Firefox was the offshoot of Mozilla that only provided the web-browser in an aim to keep things as slim and bloat-free as possible (up for debate these days )
Camino uses the same rendering engine (Gecko) as the other two, but does not support their plugin architecture and wraps itself up in a nice Mac-oriented interface.
All are good browsers. Most people prefer Firefox. I prefer Camino
There's no problems downloading all 3 and seeing which you prefer however.

  • Safari refreshes when I switch tabs, erasing active form content.

Ever since upgrading to iOS 8, Safari refreshes often when I switch between tabs, resulting in anything I have entered into active browser forms getting erased. This wasn't an issue prior to iOS 8.  Anyone have a solution for this?

Anyone know if any of the current beta versions of iOS have this fixed? Remember how wonderful things were with iOS 6? Safari felt a lot more stable then. I really hope this gets patched soon.

Is it possible to view your current history for a single tab in safari lion?

Not once the tab has been closed. If it hasn't, clicking and holding the Back button will display the titles of recently visited sites in that tab.

  • How can I open previous windows and tabs in safari 5.1.7 running OX S 10.6.8

    Hi everyone,
I format my Mac today and previsously save the safari folder from library so I have all the bookmarks and other stuff. After install OX S I copy the folder again but now when I open safari the previous tabs and windows didn't open automatically like I always have it. I know I can just click History and then reopen all windows from last sessions but is there any away to do it automatically (when I open safari). I am running snow leopard 10.6.8 and safari 5.1.7.

I'm not sure why creating a new user account or guest user account would help.
Because it may help in the diagnosis of your problem.
Seems like others are having the same problem
I have never seen this problem mentioned before.

Every time I press the delete tab in Safari it either returns to my previous web page or crashes?

Launch the Console application by entering the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. If that doesn’t work, then in the Finder, press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
Look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash logs related to Safari, WebProcess, or PluginProcess. Select the most recent one of each and post the contents -- the text, please, not a screenshot. For privacy’s sake, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.)

  • Safari opens new page in previous tab

    Hello!
I am a new macbook user (i got one just 2 months ago :)), but I was using safari for about 2 years now.
It all started with opening the links in new tab. I didn't know, that one could use command button to open a new tab, so i always went through "right click -> open in new tab"
then one day i didn't get that option anymore (just "open in new window") so i started to use command button to open a link in a new tab
but now the problem is the following: let's suppose i have 3 tabs open, and i want to open a new clean tab (tab 4) (its gonna be a direct transfer to the "top site" page). no prob here, i open it, but whenever i want to open in this new clean tab (tab 4) a new page (eg, google) it will automatically open in the previous tab (tab 3), tab 4 stays clean!!
how can i manage this problem?
i already tried to reinstall the latest version of safari, but it didnt help.
the problem is, its not always that i have this error, but it really drives me crazy when i do have it.
I am open to your every suggestion, thank you very much for your help!

    Hi and welcome....
First, go to your Safari menu bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. Restart Safari. If that didn't make a difference, reset Safari from the menu bar, select the top 7 buttons, click Reset.
If that didn't help either, try troubleshooting the Safari .plist file. Quit Safari (Command + Q)
Open a Finder window. Select your Home Folder in the Sidebar on the left. It has a small house icon. Then open the Library folder then the Preferences folder.
Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop. Now launch Safari. If Tabs work, move that .plist file to the Trash. If not, move the .plist file back to the Preferences folder.

  • Safari next and previous tab keystroke.

On the Safari Window menu there is a keyboard shortcut for selecting the next/previous tab. What is the key stroke for the arrow with the straight line in front & behind? I know what the control symbol is (^) but I don't know the other one and can't find any information on it.

    Hi Ken,
What is the key stroke for the arrow with the straight line in front & behind?
It sounds like you are describing the symbol for the tab key, just above the caps lock.

  • I just did an update to 6.0 on Lion. Now when I re-open Safari after closing it by clicking the red button  it re-opens to my home page, not all my previous tabs..  prior to the update it would re-open with all my previous tabs, which is what I want.

I just did an update to Lion  10.7.4 with Safari  6.0. Now when I re-open Safari after closing it by clicking the red button,  it re-opens to just my home page, not to all my previous tabs as it did before the update.  I prefer having my old tabs re-open.  How can I fix this?

I've had what I think is the same problem since the most recent software update.  I have Lion 10.7.4 and have updated to Safari 6.0.  The most noticeable difference is that where previously I had two boxes at the top of the Safari window (one to enter URL addresses, one for Google searches), there is now only one box for both functions.  I don't like that as well, but I can live with it.  However, since the most recent software update my "back button" only works about 5% of the time. Most of the time it is grayed out.  So I usually can't get back to previous pages using the back button.  Also, when I've clicked a link that opens a new window (for instance, going through the return process at Amazon, I clicked UPS locator and it opened a new window), where in the past I would have just clicked the red button after I had the information, the UPS locator window would have closed, and I would have been back at Amazon - now if I close the UPS locator window, all Safari windows close.  The Safari application doesn't close, but the Amazon window closes, I'm back to an empty screen, and I have to open a new Safari window and reenter everything.  I'm using a work-around of clicking on History and selecting the description of the window I want to get back too, but that only works part of the time. In the Amazon example, that's what I did once I had the UPS info, but even though I clicked the correct window description, it took me back to the beginning of the return process & I had to reenter all the info.  Of course, that info was easy to reenter, but if I'm in the middle of a complicated process, it's a big problem.  I've filed a bug report; I surely hope the Apple engineers are able to fix this.  I'm used to using the back button function a lot!

  • Printing All Opened Tabs in Safari

Is there a way to print all opened tabs in safari

    HI,
    choppy/freezing video
Try uninstalling your current copy of Flash, then reinstall new, then repair permissions.
    Uninstall Flash
Install the most recent version of Flash here.
    Now repair permissions.
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.
Empty the Safari cache from the Safari Menu Bar too.
If reinstalling Flash and emptying the cache didn't help, you may have Safari third party add-ons installed that were compatible with a previous version of Safari, but not Safari 5.
Go here for troubleshooting Safari: Add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
You could also try troubleshooting the Safari .plist file. Open a Finder window. Select your Home Folder in the Sidebar on the left. It has a small house icon. Then open the Library folder then the Preferences folder.
Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop. Now launch Safari. If Safari functions as it should, them move the .plist file to the Trash.

  • How to put the focus on the address bar, when opening a new tab in Safari?

Dear users, I'm using Safari 6.0.3 (8536.28.10) under OSX 10.8.3. Until recently, whenever I opened a new tab in Safari, the focus was always on the address bar, which was quite useful. However, since last week, maybe after an update (I don't know exactly), the focus of a new tab is always on the page, not the address bar. How can I go back to the previous configuration? I changed no options, it simply got sudeenly different, and it's quite annoying. Thank you for the help.

From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
If any extensions are installed, disable them and test.

  • How to get AppleScript to close a specific tab in Safari?

I want to use AppleScript to close a tab in Safari.
My scipt opens when my computer turns on, opens Safari, opens a new tab, goes to my schools website and automatically logs me into their internet.
After that, I want it to close the tab that it just did all that in. How can I do this? I don't want to close all tabs, just the current tab. This is what I have so far...
    tell application "Safari" to activate
    tell application "System Events"
              tell application "Safari"
                        open location "URL goes here"
      delay 5
                        tell application "System Events"
      keystroke return
                        end tell
              end tell
    end tell
What code do I need to add to close this tab?
    Thanks!

Nevermind. I figured it all out. Now, this will open Safari, log me into the schools internet, close the corresponding tabs, and minimize Safari.
    tell application "Safari" to activate
    tell application "System Events"
              tell application "Safari"
      delay 5
                        open location "URL goes here"
      delay 2
                        tell application "System Events"
      keystroke return
                        end tell
                        delay 0.25
set winlist to count of every window
repeat with i from 1 to winlist
close (every tab of window i whose name = "webassign")
close (every tab of window i whose name = "user identification portal")
                        end repeat
set miniaturized of window 1 to true
              end tell

  • Toxic tabs in Safari 5.1 OS 10.7.1

Safari has just crashed 'unexpectedly'. I say 'just', actually about 3 hours ago and I've been wrestiling with the problem since then.
Restarting Safari, it works OK with the exception of three tabs that are remaining from just before the crash. If I try to do anything to close or make active any of those tabs, Safari crashes again. I have a fourth tab open, on this or any new tabs I open, everything works normally as far as I can see as long as I ignore the three bad tabs.
All three bad tabs are ebay pages, past experience tells me ebay page crashes are often related to Flash. I've tried uninstalling & reinstalling Flash, with no benefit. On revisiting the same ebay pages on a new, working tab, all work fine. I've tried all the hints about Safari crashes (including deleting cache & history files) I can find elsewhere in the forum with no success.
I can 'Quit' apparently normally as long as I stay on the working tab. Is there no way of forcing Safari to restart without attempting to reload pages on the previous tabs? If not, that would seem to be a major design flaw.
I'd be grateful if anybody has any suggestions to offer.
    Andy

Sorry to have wasted your time, I've answered my own question in the last few minutes - just realized I can simply disable the 'Restore windows when quitting & re-opening apps' feature which seems to have done the trick. I found the feature more of an annoyance than a benefit generally, so it's no loss!
Doesn't explain the original crash but I'll worry about this when it happens again.
    Thanks,
    Andy
