I'm having a few issues and was wondering if someone could offer some assistance. I have a X200 which is running Vista 64-bit OS. I just completed a clean install of Vista-64.
Issue #1 (old *.scr file) - Is it posible to run my old Lenovo screensaver post-install? I saved it as a *.scr file to an external hard drive before deleting everything but the file will not work on my clean system by just copying it over into the appropriate folder. I get an error messasge when trying to preview it from within screensaver options. Does anyone have an excutable version of the "Think" screensaver (circa 2009/2010)?
Issue #2 (Previous versions of Lenovo drivers) - In the past it seemed to me that installing new drivers on my system has caused certain components to stop working correctly. For example, after an update to the audio last year, I lost sound to my external speaker and just had audio when plugging in headphones. Does anyone know where I could find previous versions of drivers on a reputable website? Specifically, does anyone have a copy of a previous version (circa 2009-2010) of the Conexant Audio driver/software for Vista (64-bit) for the X200?
Issue #3 ("ThinkVantage Active Protection") I installed this software and it is working normally. However, although I've selected, "Show active protection icon on the system tray" the icon is not displayed and I would like it to be displayed. Does anyone know what the problem may be? This happened to me before and I think I had to roll back the driver but I cannot do this right now since this is a new clean install.

CRVS2010 - Is it ok if previous version of CR is installed on target box

I know this was not recommended during CRVS2010 Beta but i could not find any official document stating the same for CRVS2010 production release. Can you please let me know if it's Ok to have a previous verisons of CR runtime installed on the box/VM where we are installing "SAP Crystal Reports for .Net 4.0 runtime engine" or is it not recommended.
FYI. n earlier release of our product, we used to use Merge modules.
Since we do not have merge modules for x64 for CRVS2010, in this release of our product, installation of the "SAP Crystal Reports for .Net 4.0 runtime engine" is being done as a setup prerequisite via our product's setup installer.

So far I have not heard of any issues that would impact your distribution. There are two known issues with side by side compatibility;
1) crqe.dll has a guid that is the same as that from version 12 (CR 2008). But I have not heard of this causing issues.
2) When developing an app and you have CR 10.5 (bundled with .NET 2008) and CRVS2010, the project will pull in both version 13 and version 10.5 assemblies. See Kb 1544693 and 1544532 for details (use the search box - top right corner of this page). This issue will not impact your side by side install.
As always, it is advisable to test your scenarios before deploying to a production box...

How do I launch a previous version of Illustrator after installing CC

Need to bring up old licensed copy of Illustrator in order to convert my old Freehand files.

You can always install a newer version on top of an older one.
As I understand it (and no less so with CC/CC2014 involved), installing an older version would get you into a mess in connexion with shared files, which would be changed sot they could no longer serve the newer one.
But if you uninstall the newer/newest, and then start over and install the older/oldest first, you can install the newer/newest (in strict order) afterwards and have the shared files update/upgraded along the way.
I think they want me to uninstall CC and then reinstall CS3, which is licensed, then use it to convert my files and then uninstall that and reinstall CC, etc.
I believe they may have been overly woolly and/or unaware of your actual need to keep CS3 for future use.
You can have all the versions installed, and even running, at the same time. There are some funny things with other applications, such as Acrobat, where you have to let the older one(s) go to have a newer one, or if you wish to keep an older one, abstain from the newer one (choosing whichever is less worse, or even least worst).

When you install a release version of Firefox (current version is 3.6.15), it will by default replace the existing version. There is no need to uninstall the old version first.

i am trying to install firefox on my computer. the install stops everytime at the same stage that there is a previous install in progress. Firefox has been installed in the past. in fact i dont remember uninstalling it. when I look at the control panel to uninstall a program mozilla is not listed. i am stumped not as when i do a search for files related to firefox none are found.

Go to the Windows Task Manager, look at the "Processes" tab and terminate any running firefox.exe, plugin-container.exe and any install. Then try your install again if you bring up the install from the Firefox downloads then as soon as the install starts bring Firefox down using File > Exit, give it a minute then verify with the WTM that firefox.exe is not running.
On Windows 7 only, you can bring up the WTM with "Ctrl+Shift+Esc".

If you run into the "another installation" message even after the reboot of the PC (which is an excellent idea by HTP ProXy), reregistering your Windows Installer Service is worth a try.
First, launch a command prompt as an administrator. In your Start search, type cmd then right-click on the cmd that comes up and select "Run as administrator".
At the command prompt:
Type %windir%\system32\msiexec.exe /unregister and hit enter.
Type %windir%\syswow64\msiexec.exe /unregister and hit enter.
Type %windir%\system32\msiexec.exe /regserver and hit enter.
Type %windir%\syswow64\msiexec.exe /regserver and hit enter.
Restart the PC and try another reinstalll.

Uninstalling previous versions of CS before installing CS6

Should I uninstall all of my CS4 programs before upgrading to CS6? If I decide to discontinue my subscription to Creative Cloud, can I reinstall my CS4 programs?

Honestly you can have both , not a problem , and you can uninstall it as well , doesn't make a difference a big difference
However , if you plan to uninstall , please de-activate the software first , so that you dont face any problem in future.

ThinkVantage Active Protection System will not install

Hi,
Every time I try to install ThinkVantage Active Protection System, I get this error on the setup "This installation package is not supported by this processor type." My processor is an Intel T3400.

You need a ThinkPad to install Active Protection System, i don't think it will work with a Lenovo 3000.

R400 Active Protection / Airbag isn't installed

Hello,
I have the Modelle R400 running Windows 7 Pro (64 bit) on it.
If I run Lenovo Vintage Tools programm teh airbag/active protection icon is grey.
If I click on it it starts the installer and I can install it but after a reboot it shows me that it isn't installed/grey icon again.
anyone can help me?

Cannot install firefox 8.0.1 or a previous version on windows 7.

after extracting the .exe file, it asks which user to run the program under, and then just goes away i.e. - nothing happens at all. i have tried uninstalling my previous version of firefox before installing firefox 8, but the problem persists. now even the older version of firefox is showing the same 'symptom' & refusing to install. there are no error messages popping up or anything.

Active Protection 'abnormal sensor status'

Hi, I'd really appreciate some help. I have just replaced my x61t hard disk (due to hd failure) with a WD Scorpio Black 320 gb.
I installed Active Protection, and it worked OK for hours, but then suddenly it said that it was disabled because the 'system detected abnormal sensor status'. This has happened twice, and each time the laptop was sitting unattended on a table and wasn't moved at all!
The notification recommended doing an AP test using PC Doctor for DOS, but this can only be run from a floppy drive, which I don't have right now. PC Doctor for Windows does not have an AP test function.
I'm worried that this might be connected with the previous disk failure, though I did not get an AP error message then.
Only one other person I can find has reported this error, but with no response from anyone.
Can someone please help me? Is it possible the AP software conflicts with anti-shock protection already built in to the Scorpio? I don't want another disk crash!!!

I see thsi was posted some 9 months ago or something but almost exactly the same thing has just happned to me...
Like you I cant run the PC Doctor DOS ( I mean WTF lenovo why not a bootable CD of this?) so I am just carrying on until i find a cure but the web site is silent on the issue...
I am backing up religiously now ..but did anyone find an anser to this?

I want to stream line the amount of applications on my MAC. I currently have the CS6, CC, and CC2014 version of the Adobe applications. Can I uninstall the CS6 and CC versions and still run the CC2014 version without any issues?
