Hey, i was just wondering as i have bought loads of apps for my iphone such as angry birds e.t.c why do i have to pay for them again for my mac ???
is there a way to by pass this ?
i think it is silly if we have to pay for apps we have all ready purchased, just for a different device at the very least we should have a discount on them surely ??

Because they're different apps, developed for a different OS (iOS, while based on the same core technology as Mac OS X, is not the same OS). It's the same as if you had Mac versions and now wanted to purchase Windows versions. Only a handful of developers give you cross-platform capabilities at no additional charge, and they usually charge up front for such a privilege, bundling the price into the initial cost of the application.

Why is it silly? The developers have had to go to a significant amount of work to develop the app for the other platform. So why do you think you should get that additional work for free? Do you expect to get a Blu-Ray disk of a movie for free just because you purchased a DVD or VHS version?
at the very least we should have a discount on them surely ??
That would be something to take up with the developer, though again it's by no means something one should expect. But to quote an old adage: TANSTAAFL (Google that if you don't know what it means).

The iPhone and the Mac do not run on the same operating system. IPhone apps do not run on a Mac. Mac apps do not run iPhone. If the developer has created an app for both the iPhone and the Mac they almost always sell them separately in the respective app stores.

How can I restore the previously bought apps after I have formatted my computer without backing up any of my files for iTunes?

I bought many apps from iTunes at the end of last year, and then my computer had got problem that I had to format and reinstall everything.

FYI: At that time I was using iPad 1 and the OS was still 3.1.x. Now I am using iPhone 4 and would like to restore the apps at least those that are compatible to my phone.

One of my favorite things about developing for iOS using Xcode is the Simulator. It runs any of the iOS devices simulated right on your Mac. If you don't have a hardware device to test your application on, the Xcode simulator will surely be your best friend.
So to answer your question less vaguely, yes. You can own the iPhone 5s and develop for the 6. There is no real release information of the iPhone 6 at the time anyways, so I would not let it play too large of a factor in your decision.

Printer control app for iphone

is it possible to roll back to a previous version of the Printer Control app for iphone? I recently and stupidly updated the HP Printer Control app when offered through itunes on October 30 and have lost all the functionality I previously had to print directly from my iphone to my photosmart 7520. Previously I could print whatever pages I chose from Safari and could change the print settings for either draft or normal, colour / black & white before printing. Now when I try to print a page, you don't get the option to just print page 1 and it wastes ink. If I open a pdf (all I've tried so far) document within this new AiO Remote app - even though my printer is listed and supposedly set up - I can't print at all! I desperately want to ditch this abysmal update and go back to the version that worked perfectly. I have conctacted Apple and they were unable to help as it's a third party app and referred me back to HP. Does anyone know how to do this?

I still have an old 3G which I use mostly as a ipod/radio. By accident I found you can overide the i-tunes block.
1. Select Apps in Apps store icon on the phone.
2. Choose App to download
3. At "Instal" button press it QUICKLY in blocks of 3 presses, keep doing this until it overides the i-tune warning, then if there were legacy versions for os 4.2.1 it says something like "this app is for os 5 or above", but gives you a choice to download an older version. Select this.
Sometimes it says the Apps is for newer hardware, requiring motion sensors, front camera's etc.. just got to accept these ones don't work on legacy hardware.
4. Download does not work for all Apps, esp. newer ones written after os 4.21 or if the developer doesn't have the vintage apps archived- e.g. Instagram downloads, but won't run (wants to update), or WSJ and Barrons stalls and goes through a download loop.
I am not making this up, as I bought this old 3g unit on e-bay, after a complete factory reset I now have:
- Tune-in, FB, Pandora,Skype, Twitter, Bloomberg, MSNBC, Forbes, Marketwatch, Viber, amongst a host of other news apps like LATimes.
Some Apps will download ok, and then at activation says its too old and no longer supported e.g Whats App.
Otherwise, good luck. Tune-in, Pandora, Skype and Twitter is all I need to keep me happy with an old unit, even though I've got newer hardware. Never let anything die unnaturally.

New iMovie app for iPhone 4 not showing up in Location Services (Settings)

iMovie app for iPhone 4 not showing up in Location Services (Settings). It apprently needs to be both viaible and turned on in Settings/General/Location Services in order for the app to discover previously taken video (Location Services correctly recognizes other apps of mine that utilize location-aware services).
I think the following is related to and caused by this problem above: iMovie App for iPhone 4 is not recognizing video clips I have made, whether they're in Photo Album, or iPhone 4 native movies that have been throughout this process: [sync with iPhoto on Mac > save to to iPhoto album > sync album to iPhone 4].

Just had this same problem. The solution is to turn Location Services on before launching iPhone iMovie.
Yes, iMovie needing GPS coordinates is crazy, as is the error message that doesn't correctly explain the problem. Looks like a bit of a rush job.

I just got myself $10 itunes giftcard and the only way to use it by changing region to usa. So, i change my region to usa. I found out that my previously bought apps are gone and when i'm trying to change my region again, it says i nid to spend all my remaining credits which is $0.04 . iTunes Store content is country specific. When you change countries, you no longer receive app update notifications on your iOS device or in iTunes for the apps you purchased in your original country, nor do those Apps appear on your new country's Purchased page.
However, you will still be able to download those applications again for free if they are present on your new country's store (even if they are updated).You will not be charged and the download will not appear on your Purchased page. If a previously purchased app is not available in your new country, you will not be able to download it again.

With regards to changing the country associated with your account back to what it was before, you will need to deplete the remaining store credit on your account first.

For example, if I have deleted an app off all my devices, do I need to go into purchase history on each device to download it again, or is there a way to automatically download it to all devices?

As the subject implies, I'm Looking for a good antivirus/antimalware app for iPhone 5 with iOS 8.1.2. Don't care if it costs $$ just want something that works. Sadly, spoofing doesn't really require much hacking, All a spammer would need to use your email address for spoofing would be your email address. If it's also being sent to your contacts, your email account may well have been hacked. But that would have happened on the server level. Your phone wouldn't have been involved. Unfortunately, once the miscreants have your contact list, changing your password will not get that back. Changing the password to something strong may help prevent future misuse.

From the Microsoft Word app they say "Access Word documents from OneDrive, Dropbox, iCloud, OneDrive for Business, or SharePoint" so it sounds like you can specify where they are saved. However, my guess would be that the default will be OneDrive.
To the OP: Have you tried logging into onedrive.live.com to see if you can see your letter there?

The episodes I uploaded last weeks are not shown in Itunes but only in the podcast app for iPhone.

In june I started the podcast and it was apprroved by Itunes.
It took a long time for the first 2 episodes to be uploaded.
But they are now finally in.
So in the last two weeks I uploaded episoded 2 till 6.
But they are shown in Itunes, although they are shown and can be downloaded in the podcast app for Iphone.
What is going wrong?

After I followed your advise the episodes immediately showed up in Itunes.
But this week we added a new episode which has taken 30 hours to come online.
After waking up this morning, not only the last added episode but also the 4th and 1st dissapreared.

I wonder if anyone knows if there are any apps for Iphone available, that can be used för executing BEX queries or web templates. Please note that I am NOT interested in apps for SAP Business Objects, as we do not have this application.

It works, but there's limitations from what I've seen. Certain portal functions don't work well in general outside of internet explorer, and same goes for WAD objects. I haven't seen any acknowledgement of what does and doesn't work, but it's worth playing around with.
In our scenario, I can tell you that we can launch reports via an internal Google Site, pass credentials via single sign-on, and render web reports on the iphone. Drop down menus don't work properly, color condisitons don't show up (same in Firefox), but lots of things do function properly.
