Previously downloaded apps

Is there a way to determine which phone initially downloaded an app and/or the date the app was downloaded.  We have five phones and an Ipad on our account.

You can't see which device computer or device downloaded it, but you can see its original purchase date (you can't see redownload dates) via your account's purchase history : on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option, you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it, click on that and you should then see a list of the purchases

Having a problem downloading previously downloaded Apps to iTune 11.0.2 on a MacBook with OS 10.6.8 with Snow Leopard. Any suggestions?

The Mac App Store is for apps/programs for your Mac i.e. they are for Mac OS X - if you've bought/downloaded any apps from within that, and they are still in that store, then they should show in the Purchases tab within it.
The app store within iTunes is for apps for iPads, iPhones, iPod Touches i.e. they are iOS apps
If you want iPhoto for your Mac then the version within the Mac App Store is where you need to look - but the version that is in there needs OS X 10.7.5+, so that won't work with your version. You might be able to download it via this page (whether it will then install I don't know) : http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1462

  • HT201272 Why all my previous downloaded apps (free or paid) suddenly not showing up on the iTunes store "purchased" section.  Every time I select "purchased", the next screen shows "no purchased app available for downloaded"?? Please help!!

Why all my previous downloaded apps (free or paid) suddenly not showing up on the iTunes store "purchased" section.  Every time I select "purchased", the next screen shows "no purchased app available for downloaded"?? It is the same on my iphone4 or ipad 2!!  Please help!!

Dear Metal Wheels and King Penguin.
I have to actually same problem today 23.10.2012. For an example I have only changed billing methods and have bought hundreds of apps but I remember clearly that I bought for an example ,,Wikipanion Plus'' and ,,OPlayer'' which is now HD OPlayer and I did not see them in purchased items, neither ,,not on ipad/iphone'' nour ,,not on my computer'' and I check in both my computer. I confirm hereby that I took the chance to re-buy these two Apps again through the same account but I got the message ,,As you have bought the previous version on this account you will get this update for free'' so I clicked yes and I got them both. This doesnt only proof that I have purchased them before and purchased items in iTunes Store has some lacks to fix but also it proofs that I also bought them through that specific account as I had to confirm the buying process. In my opnion this is not a thing which Apple should be relaxed with as its very important that powerusers and regular consumers can trust and rely on doing business and to shop via iTunes. I have a lot of expensive Apple Hardware and for me this is a stepping stone and a serious test on the circle of trust. If this cant be fixed I cannot recommend others to trust the store.

Download another app - any free app will work. See if that does the trick.

  • How can I clear the list of previously downloaded apps?

There are apps I tried, but really don't like.  How can I clear them from the list of previously downloaded apps?

At the moment you can't delete or hide any of your past purchases/downloads from the list. Whether we will be able to in future nobody on here will know. You can try leaving feedback for Apple : http://www.apple.com/feedback

  • I renamed my AppleID and now my previously downloaded apps won't update

I changed my AppleID (like this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HE40) from an old-school plain username (golorengo) to my email address ([email protected]). I thought, according to the FAQ here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HE37, this would not be a problem ("Apple recommends you change your Apple ID to your current, working email address. This will not create another Apple ID, it will only change it to your working email address.").
However, since I did that, my previously downloaded apps on my iPhone won't update, presumably because they don't recognize the "new" ID. I cannot change my ID back, because Apple no longer allows IDs which are not emails, and my original ID was not an email address. Therefore I have no way to log in as my "old" account to update my apps.
Am I screwed? Do I have to redownload all my apps with this "new" account? Is the FAQ just totally lying to me? I have tried restarting, loging in and back out, etc. Nothing helps.
All the other similar questions I've found involve people who have created completely new AppleIDs or changed from email to email, such that they still have access to their old account. I (obviously) cannot log in with my original username and just update that way.
Please help; iTunes email support is not being helpful.
    Thanks,
    Loren

In case anyone comes across this thread, I thought I'd post the (probably unique) almost-conclusion to my saga.
My downfall was not realizing that I had somehow (I have no memory of doing so) created a new account when I got my iPhone (yes, this was stupid, but I didn't realize that the email address linked to my original account was not the same as the name on my original account, as they are required to be now) and then that account was hacked.
    1. Original 2009 account on computer = golorengo linked to email address [email protected]
New account unknowingly created in 2011 = [email protected]
    2. [email protected] is hacked and changed to [email protected]
This allows me to change golorengo to [email protected] I thought I was restoring my account from my computer, but instead I was signing in under my original 2009 golorengo account. Even though my apps say they were bought by [email protected], I still cannot update these apps, because they were bought by the 2011 [email protected] account, not the 2009 one.
I figured this all out myself after 3 weeks of back and forth through iTunes support with literally the dumbest (or most illiterate) person I've ever had the misfortune to email with. I STILL have not gotten access to my hacked account, despite the fact that I have given her the information with which to restore my account THREE separate times.
In summary: it is WAY too easy to accidentally create a new account, way too easy to get hacked, and way too easy to get screwed by DRM. And iTunes support is horrible.

  • TS1702 previously downloaded apps no longer available on my ipod touch????

Hi, My iTouch 8gb (model A1288-2nd generation) - after not having a lot of my Artwork for my Apps (they just disappeared-went grey-if tapped could still access them tho) I decided to individually remove/restore but with no luck.  I then restored the entire iTouch - I can no longer download these apps that were previously on this unit back onto it - it says that "ït was not installed on the iPod because it requires a newer version of the iPod software" my version I have is iOS 4.2.1 (downloaded today).  WHY does my iTouch no longer support these previously accessable Apps  - PLEASE HELP!!

The current version of those Apps available on the App store apparently requires a iOS level higher than 4.2.1. The older versions of those Apps which you had before you deleted them did run on iOS 4.2.2
Since App store only carries the latest version of Apps you are out of luck on those Apps. In this case deleting the Apps was not a wise choice.
One might be able to say more if you gave the names of the Apps in this situation.

  • Delete a free previously downloaded app from iTunes

There is a free game "garden of times" that will no longer work for some users.  The developers are aware that their last version caused problems for some of the users, but they have elected to not do anything for the users that have the problem with a server error. New users who download this game have no problems in downloading and playing the game.  What is needed to once again play this game is for iTunes not to recognize that this game was previously downloaded which would then allow users experiencing the server problem to re-download as if the app is "new".  Is there a way for "free" games to be deleted completely from iTunes?  Don't want to hide it....want to delete the game completely from any history so it can be downloaded again as new. I feel certain that if this is doable this would be the "fix" that the developers can't fix for numerous users.  Read the reviews for this app which goes into more info of the problem.

You can contact the iTunes Store Customer Service department using the form on their Support page (select the category and subcategory closest to the issue you're reporting and you'll find either an "Express Lane" button - just follow the instructions to get to the contact form - or an "Email Us" button)  and explain your situation to them.
BTW, this forum is for questions about iTunes U, Apple's service for colleges and universities to post educational material in the iTunes Store. Normally you want to ask your questions in the general iTunes forums.
    Regards.

  • TS3991 could icon on previously downloaded apps

How do I delete the cloud icon on application that I had previously downloaded on my phone but no longer have installed?

    Hi,
The cloud you see next to the App is showing that it is an App that has been purchased under your Apple ID, but which is not on the device you are viewing your purchased items on. It simply means that this is a purchased item that is in the cloud and not on your device.
You can hide Apps (in iTunes on your computer), but you cannot delete them from your purchase history.
    Cheers,

  • How do I change an AppleID to be able to update previously downloaded apps once a new AppleID has been set up?

I bought an iPad just before the change to iOS5.  The personnel at the Apple Store used their computer to get an AppleID set up so I could access the App Store.  I recently got an iPhone which operates on iOS5, which updates by direct download.  In the process of activating the phone, it was necessary to establish a totally new AppleID which used my email address for identity, as the old identity would not work.  It was also necessary to set up a new password which had higher security requirements so that the old password could not be entered.
Now the apps on the iPad cannot be updated.  They are tied to the old ID, which no longer works.  Updating settings with the new ID allows newly downloaded apps to be updated (if they don't require iOS5), but not the 60+ old ones.
Apparently, I must now buy a computer to connect to update the iOS in the pad from 4 to 5.
Is there any other way anyone knows of to update the iOS on the iPad wihtout having to shell out an additional $1500 in order to continue using a $500 iPad and update the apps I have?

I've tried it, but it will only accept an ID in the new format, i.e., an email address.  The old ID was a 7 character alpha only.

  • How do I make previously downloaded apps appear on the screen? Now, I have to open them in the App Store.

I just upgraded to iOS 7. My downloaded apps no longer appear on the screen; I have to open them from wihtin the App Store. How do I get them out of there? The only option I see when I call them up in the App Store is "open."
    Thanks.

Did you update your iOS via iTunes and the computer? If so, did you transfer purchases? Your Apps that were purchased via the App store on the phone should still be on the phone. Have you checked all of the home pages? Try a reset, hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. After the phone reboots, see if they are back. If they are on the computer, you can also connect to iTunes and sync them back.

  • When i logged in to itunes in the morning it started downloading the previously downloaded apps which i want to stop, please help me!

yesterday i downloaded dead trigger and asphalt 8 and transferred them to my iphone 5c via itunes downloaded to my laptop, but whenever i log in again to itunes store it starts downloading those applications again which i want to stop, how to do that by keeping the downloaded apps into my account?

Is this on your computer's iTunes ? If it is then do you have downward pointing arrow at the top right of the  iTunes screen :
If you do, then does clicking on it open a popup window, and if it does do those apps show on it ? If they do can you select and delete them from there.
Not sure what you mean by 'keeping the downloaded apps into my account'. If it's that you want to keep them linked to your account then as long as they remain in your country's store and you don't change countries then they will remain linked to your account - you can't delete any item from your purchase history.

  • View previously downloaded apps

I just replaced my iPhone 3GS and I want to kno if there is a way to view all my previous apps that I had already downloaded (paid and free). I backed upy phone before I replaced it but that was on my office computer and I won't be able to get to it for a couple days. Tried going to the iTunes app and clicking on the downloads link but absolutely nothing came up. Just wondering if there is a way to view all the ones I've already downloaded.
    Thanks, Kayla

There is no way of seeing what apps you have downloaded other than seeing them in iTunes on the computer you downloaded.

  • Is there a way to clear the app stores "Not on this iphone" list of previously downloaded apps?

with the new update there is a way to download all your old apps. however my list is immensly long, and i am looking for a way to clear or reset the list.
the list im referring to is on my iphone 4, in the app store, under the tab "Updates" and "Not on this Iphone" alot of these apps are old or i have no interest ever downloading again and would prefer to not have them showing

There are many threads that have recently been posted addressing this matter. Currently iTunes and iOS displays all Apps ever downloaded  and you can't control which ones you would like to delete from that list permanently and which you would like to keep in the Cloud, so to speak.

  • Previously downloaded apps in the app store are not downloadable any more

I had deleted apps on my iPad2 and now I'm trying to re-download them again from the Apps store, but these apps are dimmed in color, which indicates that I'm unable to download them any more. (The cloud is grayed out). Can anyone help?

Perhaps if you told us what those apps were someone here could verify if the apps are presently in the app store. Apps do not necessarily remain in the app store forever. Apps may be removed from the app store for a variety of reasons. If they are removed you will not be able to download them again.
If you have been syncing your iPad with iTunes on your computer you may have transferred all purchases from the iPad to iTunes. If you did that you could copy the apps stored in iTunes back to your iPad.
