Previously purchased music has to be purchased again?

I was wondering if someone had the same issue. I bought album XYZ at some point. Now when I look up the same exact album in the store, being logged in, it wants me to purchase it again. My point is that there seem to be two versions of the exact same album. One that I purchased in the past and another one for sale in the iTunes Store right now. That means for example it's impossible to "complete my album" that I previously purchased and I'd have to buy the new version of the same album instead. I hope I'm making sense. Essentially it seems to be that apple took an old version off their server and offers a new version now, only they're the exact same. Same cover, same music...different software? I only noticed this because I wanted to complete a couple of albums I purchased and couldn't.

Some albums are removed from a coountry's store by the record company/rights-holder for that country (it's not Apple that removed it) and they subsequently add them back - if that is the case then it will probably be treated as different albums. Is the album's release date on its description page in the store after the date that you bought the individual tracks (and the tracks were bought with the same account and you haven't changed countries since buying them) ?

    Hi Bander Bunny!
I have a couple of articles that should be able to help you troubleshoot this issue a little further. You may want to try uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes first. This has to be done in a specific manner, and this article can help you do that:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923
Another option is that you may want to try syncing your iPod nano manually. Here's is an article that pertains to manually managing the content of your iPod nano:
Managing content manually on iPhone, iPad, and iPod
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1535
It's also possible that this issue resides with your iPod nano. Here is a website that will help you troubleshoot the iPod nano:

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Have a good one!

  • Downloading previous purchased again

    Hi,
Just downloaded some purchased tv show on to my pc and I accidently deleted the folder.
Now i'm trying to download it again it will not let me.  ( same PC)
    1. I went to itune store "purchased" it shows the "Downloaded buttton" but i can't click on it to download .
    2. I went  to the library TV Shows and try to click on the "cloud button" and would not allow me to click on it either to download.

Go into iTunes, locate the shows there, and delete them from within iTunes. Then you should be able to download the shows again.
    Regards.

  • Download purchases again

Hi, although a 'longtime" Mac user (since Feb 2004) this is my first visit to this forum, so a Newbie! I have just completed a clean install of Mavericks. I now want to downloaded previous purchases again. In the App Store I can see none of these purchases (purchased at least Aperture from App Store). In the iTunes store I can see all my purchases. I have managed to download all my purchased music. However, I cannot find a way of downloading the other software & Apps (Arcsoft Photo+, Aperture - which is listed here). I would prefer downloading to recovering from Time Machine to avoid loading any unwanted stuff at the same time. My question is, how to do this?

Hi Dahveed (sorry, couldn't find the "dot") and Carolyn, Thanx for your suggestions and responses. I am using the same Apple ID (have tried both iTunes store and the App store using the 2 identities in each as applicable. In the App store I cannot see ArcSoft Photo (which I purchased through the App Store). I can however see all my purchases in the iTunes store and was able to download my purchased music from there. There is nowhere I can find though to select the 2 items I want to download (Arcsoft & Aperture). I have tried suggestions in knowledge base articles, including the ones you suggested, however, my screen don't look like what they show. For example in this screen shot the drop down list shown is supposed to contain far more items than what is shown. As you can see in the second screen shot there is nowhere to select anything let alone to choose "download. I was hoping that this would be far easier, some articles present clean installs in such a way that it seems that previous purchases will be downloaded almost automatically. Far from it, it seems. Perhaps I should try Apple Support so I can talk to them directly and have them view my screen. Regards, Lukas

  • Why does my iphone 4s display no contect when music has been added. The music appears to take up space but will not show on phone. Any help?

    hi
recently bought a 4s iphone. Tried to add music in the same way as with an ipad but the music does not show. It says that there is no content on the iphone. It appears that the music takes up memory but I am not able to play it. I have tried to sync the phone but this does not appear to work.
    Do you have any advice?
    many thanks

    Hi Gail
Thanks for your initial response. When I plug my phone in it is recognised as a device in iTunes. I have tried dragging songs from iTunes to the phone. The rotating symbol appears to say it is being added but it will not appear on the phone. I have also tried to add music by creating a playlist and then syncing. The memory changes to say music has been added but again no music appears on the phone.
Let me know if you require any further information.
    Hope you can help
    Chris

  • I recently had to uninstall itunes and reinstall it again. How do I get my previously purchased music back on my itunes?

I recently had to uninstall itunes and reinstall it again. How do I get my previously purchased music back on my itunes?

Depending on what country that you are in you might be able to re-download past music purchases via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page - re-downloading : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
But if you only re-installed iTunes and you didn't remove the actual music from your computer, then it should still be on there, and you should be able to add it back into iTunes via File > Add Folder To Library - by default your iTunes content should have been stored under :
    Windows 7 and Vista : \users\username\My Music\iTunes.
    Windows XP : \user\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes.

  • Can I again downlaod music which I previously purchased from the Itunes.

My computer crashed and now I can't access my saved Itunes music. Can I downlaod music which I previously purchased from the Itunes store a second time (so I can put on my new computer).
Since I bought the music once, I shouldn't have to buy it again....right?

Well, when you buy something from iTunes you can only download it from them once.
You can e-mail them here and see if they can let you re-download the files
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store
Or, you can try to sync the purchases back off your iPod using iTunes 7
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93366
Or, you can always download a third party application to transfer everything off your iPod, such as iPodRip or iPodUtil.

  • Nokia Music previous purchases asking me to pay ag...

As per title, I've bought about 12 tracks and 1 album from Nokia music over last 3 years.
Some of the tracks I can re-download to my new Lumia 920, some are asking me to pay again.
E.g. I can download the song Rolling Stones - Gimme Shelter that I purchased in Jan 2011 but cannot download Calvin Harris - Bounce Jun 2011
One previous purchase - Bibio - Lovers Carving doesn't even show up in my Download list, even though I have purchased it.
    Anyone have any ideas?

    Hi samhancock,
Can you remember how many times did you re-download the song Bounce by Calvin Harris? Purchased songs from the Nokia Music Store has 3 redownload credits. Once you've used those credits, you'll be asked to purchase them again.
For the song Bibio - Lovers Carving, can you check your Music Store if you can still view this file? If not, it is possible that the music label has pulled out this file.

  • How can I download previously purchased music

Some previously purchased music has apparently been deleted from my computer, and, consequently, from my iPhone.  Download of previous purchases is one of the new features in 10.3.1.   But, I can't figure out how to do it.  When I go to the selection in the Store, it says that it was purchased and does not give me an option of either downloading it again, or even purchasing it again.

Thanks, Steve.  This did not resolve my problem, but I did get it fixed.  When I did as you suggested and navigated to the selection, it did not show the cloud.  Instead it displayed "Downloaded".  So, I went back to my Library and deleted the entry there.  I forgot to mention that the listing was still in the Library, but the song was not on the disk.  After I deleted the entry, a "cloud" appeared.  I clicked it and an new copy downloaded.
Thanks again for the help.  Although it did not directly fix the problem it got me started in a direction that worked.  I had never used the "cloud" before.
    Regards,
    Bill

  • If I currently share an iTunes account with my family, is there a way I can have my own iCloud account that they can't access as well as keep all the music previously purchased?

I am going off to college soon and I need to create a separate iTunes and iCloud and the whole nine yards if possible. I currently share icloud and everything with my mom and my brothers phones. Is it possible to move over all of the music the I have previously purchased as well? Also the computer that has our iTunes account on it recently crashed. Is there a way to move the account to another computer?

    Hi Rileycarline,
You can easily have an iCloud account that is separate from the Apple ID that is used for iTunes purchases. Take a look at the article below to walk you through that specific setup process of have an account for iCloud and one for Store purchases.

  • Can no longer play music that I previously purchased

After performing the iTunes and Quicktime upgrades last night, I discovered today that I can no longer play songs that I previously downloaded from the music store. I also cannot preview any songs in the music store, and I'm assuming that if I actually tried to purchase a song that it also wouldn't work. When I try to play a song from my iTunes library that I previously purchased, a window comes up saying that "this computer is not authorized to play this song" and requires me to enter my password. After I do that, it generally comes up with a message saying that machine authorization is successful, and that I have 2 machines authorized, although it requires me to do this every time I try a different song. After the supposed successful authorization, it starts "accessing the music store" (which makes no sense to me since these songs have been in my own library for over a year) and ultimately comes back with different error messages, including "We couldn't complete your music store request...The music store is temporarily unavailable" or just simply "there was an error in the music store" or "an unknown error occurred." The error numbers vary - 5555, 403, etc. Why is it even trying to access the music store when these are songs that are sitting in my own library?! Now iTunes is simply closing unexpectedly. I know I'm not the only one (to say the least) having problems, and I hope someone figures it out soon since we all have hundreds of dollars worth of music on our computers that we can't listen to. Unfortunately, I plugged my iPod in today to update it, and I'm scared to even find out what's been erased from it.

    Alli hello,
    Quit iTunes...
Download Cocktail and start the program... click on the 'interface' Icon and tick 'Show Invisible Items' then click the Restart button...
In a finder window click on the Icon that is your Boot Volume in the Side Bar ... select users ... select shared folder ... select the folder named 'SC info' and put it in the trash and empty it ... Do Not touch any other file.
Pathway looks like this HD > users > shared > SC info > SC Info.sidb
Go back to the Cocktail 'interface' window and untick Show Invisible Items and click restart .. quit Cocktail.
Start iTunes after deletinng this folder and it will prompt you to enter your authorization information again ... see now if your problem still exists...
Let's know how you get on Alli ... take care ... TP

  • Can't download previously purchased music to new iPad "Associated with another Apple ID"

    Hi There,
I have a brand new iPad Air and can see my previous purchases in the Music app. But when I try to download (by clicking the download/cloud icon) I get a confusing error:
"This device is already associated with an Apple ID".
The thing is, this is a brand new device - how could it be associated with another Apple ID?
The only other Apple ID on the device is the one used for iCloud - could this be confusing things?
Does anyone know how to get music onto the device?
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Cheers
    Ben

    Thanks Amish,
Dang it, I accidently marked your question as the answer from the email notifcation and can't change it.
I purchased it from Apple and have been in contact with them for over a week. Unfortuantely, they insist I'm logged in using differnt accounts despite me sending screen shots to the contrary.
I'm posting here becauase I'm getting nowhere with Apple - it's like they're stonewalling or the person I'm dealing with (Russ) is assuming I'm an idiot.
I've been using Apple products for 25 years, look after an OSX server (have also maintained a Microsoft SBS server) so am quite familiar with computers and user accounts.
But this situation has me stmped - both in terms of why it doesn't work, and why I can't get Russ to understand that I'm not logged in using a different Apple ID.
He keeps senindg me links to iTunes terms and conditions - I can't listen to music purchased from Apple on my Apple dvices also purchased from Apple. How can iTunes Ts & Cs justify that?
I've decided to a go a differnt route and report a problem via iTunes and see if I get a more helpful support guy.

  • I have a £50 gift voucher and I tried to buy something with it, but it tells me there was a billing problem with a previous purchase and makes me put in my debit card details. My debit card has no money atm, can't I just pay with my voucher?

I have a £50 gift voucher and I tried to buy something with it, but it tells me there was a billing problem with a previous purchase and makes me put in my debit card details. My debit card has no money atm, can't I just pay with my voucher for the things that have a billing problem? I tried to put my voucher code in again but it won't let me do that.

If the amount of the purchase is close to $21.07, then you need to take into account taxes may be added.
If you go beyond the credit from a gift card the balance will be billed to your credit card account.

  • HT201272 Re-download previously purchased music

I changed my OS and had to reload iTunes and my entire library. Some previously purchased albums do not play songs in their entirety. For instance if a song is longer than 3:33, it will stop at 3:33 and skip to the next song. I have tried to re-download previous purchases but am told it has already been downloaded. I just want to fix the album, how do I re-download an album I purchased?
    Thanks.

If you do Get Info (control-I) on one of those track then on its Options tab its 'stop time' isn't set to 3:33 ?
If you have the 'pointers' to them in your computer's iTunes library then it assumes that you already have them on there and that there is no need to re-download - try deleting them from iTunes (you don't have to delete the actual music files), and then try re-downloading them
