Previously purchased quick time pro and lost it

I purchased Quick Time Pro for Windows 7 and then lost it when my computer crashed.  I have recovered the product key from my Apple account but I can't figure out how to use the key to recover my product.  It just keeps asking me to buy the program again.

Hi timonez99,
If you have your previous QT Pro key but are having issues downloading QuickTime and/or applying the key to unlock the Pro functionality, you may find the following pages helpful:

In the optional install items-Quick Time is not an option. I am on Leopard.
    Then you either:
    1) never had QT X installed and could not have deleted it since QT X is only installed on Snow Leopard (OS X v10.6), Lion (OS X v10.7), and Mountain Lion (OS X v10.8) systems or...
    2) you are actually running Snow Leopard (OS X v10.6) and not Leopard (OS X v10.5) as you just stated.
Please confirm which statment is actually correct.

Quicktime Pro will do full screen streaming videos that are compatible with Quicktime installed Codecs. If the video of the Olympics on the website has a specific URL to go straight to the video, then yes, you can call upon it with Quicktime Pro's player and then watch it fullscreen.
If the video of the Olympics was embedded such a way that you can't find the direct link to the video, then the limitation is how the webpage is designed. Thanks to Flip4Mac, there is now also a Windows Media codec you can install for Quicktime as well:
    http://www.flip4mac.com/wmv_download.htm
Although some video software like Elgato's EyeTV don't work with it yet. If you are using Elgato's software, don't download it, and rather download Windows Media Player for Mac OS X:
    http://tinyurl.com/26pxg
if the video is in Windows Media.
If the video is in Realplayer, click on the Realplayer Free button on the upper right corner of:
    http://www.real.com/player/?src=realaudio
You can enter a dummy address and password if you don't want Real's offers.
If it is still a question of not being able to determine the true link to the video, try using different Mac web browsers to see what result you get:

  • Purchasing Quick time Pro

I am interested in purchasing Quick Time Pro (although I am waiting until after the mac World Expo). My question is that if I'm running three computers on my network do I have to purchase it three times, or do I have to purchase it only once, and use the password on all three computers.
    Thanks in advance.

You must purchase a separate key for each computer.

  • Itunes won't load after purchasing Quick time Pro

I purchased QuickTime Pro and now my itunes won't load. My version is 7.6.9. I keep getting message that reads I have an older version installed of Quick Time and that I need to uninstall itunes. I have tried this repeatedly but no luck. any suggestions?

I keep getting message that reads I have an older version installed of Quick Time and that I need to uninstall itunes.
That suggests that some application (other than QuickTime itself) has stashed old QuickTime componentry down in your system files.
So we'll go looking for the older QuickTime componentry in the most common locations for it to be stashed.
First we'll need to change some view settings.
In your Start menu, open Computer.
In your Organise menu, select Folder Options.
In the View tab, make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is selected, and Hide extensions for known file types is unchecked.
    Click OK.
Now in Computer, open your C:\ drive (or whichever drive you have your operating system installed on).
    Open the "Windows" folder.
*If you have a 32-bit version of Windows,* open the "System32" folder.
*If you have a 64-bit version of Windows,* open the "SysWOW64" folder.
What files and folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the title? (In a standard installation of Quicktime you should be seeing precisely two files ... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)

  • Quick Time Pro and MPEG-2 Playback plugin

    Hi,
I recently purchased Quicktime pro and the MPEG-2 playback plug in. I installed them no problem but when I try and playback a .vob file that on my harddrive, it seem to be playing but all I get is a white screen.
When I play the file using VLC media player it works fine.
Once I get it playing I want to convert it to a quicktime movie file
    Thanks for any help
    Regards
    Liam

Similar problem here, only on a Mac. Someone gave me a .vro file with home movies on it, so I bought the MPEG-2 plug-in and now QuickTime crashes immediately whenever I try to play the video.
Some relevant information from the crash:
    Exception: EXCBADACCESS (0x0001)
    Codes: KERNPROTECTIONFAILURE (0x0002) at 0x00000004

    3 ...le.QuickTimeMPEG2.component 0x16e4ac73 MPEGSystemDispatcher + 859
    [etc.]
Aside from the fact that I can't view the video, I'm less than pleased that I spent $20 only to have it crash instead of tell me it's an unsupported video format.

  • Quick Time Pro and DivX on PC

    Hi Guys
I have QuickTime Pro and DivX on Win XP Pro. I need to output some divX files from a .mov file in QTP but cannot seem to find that as an option even though I have downloaded the full divX too. Is this only available on the Mac or am I missing something?
    Many thanks

  • Quick Time Pro and exporting movie files

With Quicktime Pro do you have to purchase Flip for Mac for people with Windows Media Players or Realtime players to be able to view it?
I've heard of something called AV files. Does Quicktime Pro export a file in some version that can be read by other players, or do I have to purchase some software?

People with Windows can get the free QT Player for windows and view your QT files that way. One version of Flip4mac will allow you to start with QT and output WMV files. Those would play in Windows Media Player. AVI files might or might not depending on the codec used inside the AVI container.
There is lots of QT media on the internet, and Windows users just download and install the QT player at no cost and then can watch downloaded or streaming QT media.

  • Quick Time 7 and Quick Time Pro Functionality Issue

I purchased Quick Time Pro a few years ago when Quick Time was another version. Quick Time is needed for Premiere Elements. With the current  Quick Time 7 comes an issue: my Quick Time Pro will not function in Quick Time 7 because the Quick Time Pro I only functions in earlier Quick Time versions. I either have to purchase a new Quick Time Pro product key to run in Quick Time 7 or run an earlier version of Quick Time to have my current Quick Time Pro function properly. Does anyone else have this issue?

I have not. Historically, the Pro unlock will work for all versions in a series, i.e. Pro version 6 will work in all versions in the 6 series. I got my Pro version 7 at about 7.2.x, and it has worked fine with all through version 7.5.5, where I am now. The current version is 7.6.6, and I have heard of no issues with a Pro version 7 unlock not working in any versions later than my 7.5.5.
Seems strange, but then maybe Apple has departed from history?
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Quick Time Pro - converting movie formats

I am having a frustrating time with Quick Time Pro ... its most likely me, but I do need help.
I just purchased Quick Time Pro for the purpose of taking some previous movies (in the AVI format) that I have burned to a DVD ... and ... convert them to the mov file extension so that I can put them into itune movie library and play them on my new Apple TV.
After a long time with technical support, I finally got Quick Time Pro installed, but now I can not open up the movie ... with Quick Time Pro.
I thought it would be as easy as 1) selecting the movie and 2) and then "Save as" to another format.
I am totally lost right now. I do need help.

I am totally lost right now. I do need help.
To begin with, AVI is a file format--not a compression format. It simply signifies that the audio and video compressed data is spatially interleaved for synchronization purposes and thus prevent one form of data from "overrunning" the other. It is an old file container for which its originator, Microsoft, officially dropped support more than a decade ago in favor of new, more modern file containers.
In order to convert the AVI file, you must first ensure that your system's QT component configuration supports the compression formats contained in the audio and/or video tracks. This may or may not be obvious. If the files open and play in the QT 7 Player, then they are likely edit/conversion compatible with QT 7 Pro. However, if the files simply load in the player but do not play or will not open in the player, then one or more tracks are not supported by your QT components.
Since the AVI is somewhat outmoded, the data contained may or may not be supported by your Leopard OS. Some older compression formats have never been transcoded for Mac us and those that have may never have been transcoded for OS X. The normal thing to do here would be to determine what specific codecs were used to crete the file and then install them if they are available. However, many inexperienced users simply install the Perian component package and hope for the best as this component package includes support for most AVI codecs that have survived the transition to OS X use.
I thought it would be as easy as 1) selecting the movie and 2) and then "Save as" to another format.
Again you are somewhat mistaken. While the "Save As..." QT 7 Pro option will place the audio and video data in an MOV container that will likley import and play in iTunes, it does not ensure the resulting file will be TV compatible since the TV device player only supports a limited number of audio and video compression formats. For instance, a DivX/MP3 AVI data can be moved to an MOV file container which will import and play in iTunes if support by either Perian or DivX codecs (but not normally both at the same time), it cannot be played on an TV device. In such cases, you will need to "convert" the source content to TV compatible compression formats. The most commonly used TV compression format here would be H.264/AAC (with or without chapter, alternate audio, and/or AC3 audio tracks). Once properly supported by the proper components, the DivX/MP3 AVI example above could be either opened directly in the QT 7 Pro player and converted to the TV preset or saved to an MOV file container which cold then be imported by iTunes and converted by iTunes for use on the TV device. (This latter option does not require QT 7 Pro be keyed.)
    ADDED:
To clarify what QTKirk said, data burned to DVD for playback on commercial DVD players would normally be converted to "muxed" MPEG2/AC3 or MPEG2/PCM (VOB) content. However, AVI files can also be burned as "data" files in their original AVI file format. You need to look at the files contained on the DVD to know for sure and select the appropriate workflow as needed.
