Previously purchased songs?
I know this is asking a bit much, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask...
Over the past few months, I've downloaded quite a few songs through the iTunes store. Recently, my computer had a critical meltdown and I lost everything I had downloaded. Does iTunes keep a log of what songs you purchase? Is there a way of replacing these songs without having to remortgage my house to do it? I have reinstalled iTunes on my laptop and hope to replenish my collection soon.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I am not sure that you can.
But there is a sort of work around, you can create a smart playlist and set the condition:
Kind IS Protected AAC audio file
Or maybe Kind CONTAINS Protected AAC
To get the exact text you need, right click in the header row of the library which should produce a list of columns, check "Kind". This will show a file type column.

I just purchased a Mac and downloaded my previously purchased songs from iTunes, however it only downloaded a portion of the song (about 1:15) and this appears to be the same on all of the songs. What is happening and how can I fix it?
Hello Pork Chop 2,
Congratulations on your new Mac! It sounds like your purchased songs are not playing completely after you downloaded them. I recommend to following steps for an issue like this:
Symptoms
Occasionally, if a song purchased from the iTunes Store on a Mac or PC was not downloaded completely, the song may not play back fully. The song may abruptly stop during playback, and iTunes may start playing the next song in your library or playlist.
Resolution
If iTunes in the Cloud is available in your country, try the following steps to resolve the issue:
Delete the purchased song that is exhibiting the problem from your iTunes library.
Click on the Purchased link in the iTunes Store to view your previously purchased music.
Download your previously purchased song from this list.
You can find the full article here:

On a Mac OS X version 10.4.11 and itunes 9.1.1. Can't update to itunes 10.6, Mac too old. Trying to get a previously purchased song. Can't use the purchased option under quick link - nothing shows up and won't let me purchase an already purchased song. What can I do?
If possible you need to upgrade OS X. However, what you can upgrade to is dependent on what your Mac hardware and configuration is which you have not provided in your profile.

Can't DL previous purchased songs on authorized computer
If you still have the entries for the songs in your iTunes library (even if the actual music files no longer exist), then iTunes assumes that you already have them and that there is no need to re-download them - try deleting the entry for one of them from iTunes and then try re-downloading it, and if it works then do the same for the others

How to recover previously purchased songs
I had previously had an iPod. I used to buy song directly off the iPod. The iPod had never been plugged into a computer. Since then that iPod has been wiped clean. My QUESTION is: is there a way to get those previously purchased songs on my new iPod. When I go onto the iTunes Store it says those old. Songs have been purchased?
You can redownload iTunes purchases by:

HT201272 Is there a limit on downloading previously purchased songs?
Is there a limit on downloading previously purchased songs?
I think what the message is saying is that if you download past purchases for that account then you will be tying the Mac to that account for 90 days - I was thinking that it was saying that it's already associated with an account, not that you are about to associate it. If you don't want that to happen (which if it's your only account then it shouldn't be an issue), then you should be able to copy the content from your other Mac to it via, for example, home sharing : copying content between computers.

I'm having trouble downloading a previously purchase song to my iCloud so I can access it from another device. The iCloud download button is not there. Help?
I agree. I don't rely on iCloud as a backup, that is what I have my portable hard drive for. Its 500 GB so I can hold my entire iTunes library several times over on it. I have all my movies on my hard drive, but somehow "The Mist" got deleted off of my hard drive, so I figured "Well, the option to redownload an already purchased movie is available through iCloud, I'll just do that!"
And permissions and download availability have nothing to do with it, the movie's still there, it still allows me to redownload it. The only problem is when I click download, I get that message.
And nobody else uses my computer, but I do have multiple accounts authorized on it. Even still though, I am attepmpting to download it through the account I purchased it under. :/ -
Re-downloading all previously purchased songs
Hiya,
Just wondering if there is a quick and easy way of re-downloading all previously purchased songs onto my iTunes (I have purchased a new computer and the old one is dead). I have already authorised this computer, but short of going and finding all the purchases I have made in the past, can I just re-download them to here?
Cheers. As Apple clearly point out in the Terms of Use / Purchase, downloads are allowed to be made once only.
You cannot download your music again, it is your responsibility to have made backups of your music files in case of loss.
Just as a record store won't replace a lost CD, Apple will not replace lost downloads.
I suggest you either transfer the music you purchased from the old computer to the new computer, or you get a copy of the music out of your last backup.
If you cannot access the old computer and you do not have a backup then do you have the purchases on an iPod / iPhone? If you do then you can connect the device to iTunes (DO NOT SYNC THE DEVICE WITH ITUNES as that would erase the content from the device). Once connected use the 'Transfer Purchases' option you will find in the file menu in iTunes.
If you have not got the music on an iPod, etc then all you can do is send a very polite and humble email to Apple using the 'Report a problem' feature in the Account area of iTunes and ask them to allow you to download all your music again. It has been known for Apple to allow this to be done, but they don't need to do so and may refuse.
If they do then you will have lost all your purchased music, your fault not theirs. -
Re-downloading previously purchased songs on a different computer

Transfer the song files from one computer to the other manually, and then drag them into the open iTunes window. Except for applications, one purchase only entitles you to one download; if you don't have the files at all, fill out and submit this form.

does it cost to download previously purchased songs/vides from I Phone onto I Pad 3?
It depends on where you live. You should be able to download virtually everything again for free if you live in the U.S except for some movies, audiobooks and extra iTunes content with movies.
This explains how you can download again for free. You must be using the same Apple ID that you bought the content with as well.

Downloading my previously purchased songs & Videos
Hello,
I am trying to download my previously purchased songs and videos from my itunes account onto my ipad2 however i am only able to acess the most recent 250 songs and no videos. I have over 1500 songs that i have purchased through itunes and quite a few videos and TV shows, how can i get these on my ipad.Open the iTunes Store on your device.
Make sure you are signed in with the same account used for the original purchase.
Tap Purchased from the bottom navigation bar.
On iPad, tap the media button in the upper-left corner.
Tap Music.
Once you've located the music you are looking for, tap the download button.
Note: To download all songs from a purchased album, tap on the Album's toggle button to switch to Album view. Previous purchases may be unavailable if they have been refunded or are no longer on the iTunes Store. Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later. -

Hi, I purchased itunes match in order to convert the previously purchased songs that reflected copyright and would not copy to other device. Ran itunes match however, I can not find a way to obtain my 62 matched songs to place on hard drive to copy.
Donna,
You have to delete the DRM copies from your library first.
