PRI Activity

Is there any way to watch a live report of my PRI activity?
I've been getting complaints from staff that they are unable to dial out at points, and I want to see how busy our PRI channels are at any given time. We have two PRI's and only 160 people in our office. I highly doubt all 48 channels are being used at one time, so I want to see if all channels on both PRI's are receiving and dialing out calls properly. I've contacted our Telco about this and they say both PRI's are running according to them.
Any ideas, please let me know.
Thanks.
Josh

I've used RTMT before now to monitor SIP trunks. I would guess I can also do PRI!
Have a look here:
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/service/8_5_1/rtmt/RTMT/rtconfcm.html
Hope that helps!

  • RTMT Specific PRI Active Channel Graph

Is there a way in RTMT to see the active MGCP PRI B channels for a specific span?  It appears the only real time graph is a total count of all the active B channels registered to the cluster consisting of multiple PRIs, nothing span specific.  Any pointers or alternate ways of doing this would be greatly appreciated.  I have pulled CDR records and translated into line graph averages, but would like to be able to see a specific PRI line graph in real time instead of doing a constant "sh voice call summary" over and over on the gateway.  This is my 1st time to post on the Cisco Support forums, be gentle.  :)
    Thanks,
    Paul

    Hi pjsooner7,
    welcome to the Community.
    Try this:
In RTMT > Performance > StandAlone Cluster > <CUCM's IP Addr> > Cisco MGCP Gateways:
    - PRIChannelActive
    - PRISpanInService
    Hope this helps.

  • Cisco ASA HA Setup in ACTIVE - ACTIVE State

I have two ASA 5540s, with 8.4.(2).8 installed in a HA setup , they lost synchronisation last week, and now are both in ACTIVE mode.
    I have a PRIMARY/ACTIVE and a SECONDARY/ACTIVE.
Is there any procedure to get back to PRIMARY/ACTIVE and SECONDARY/STANDBY available, is it just rebooting the PRIMARY, and the PRECEDENCE command on it starts the process.
Checked Layer 2 / 3 CONNECTION between both devices on the FAILOVER cable, and it is working.

    Thanks for the reply Lads,
Each FW is connected to individual switches, that are connected to each other by fibre link. Checked the Layer2 connections, and you can see the MACs on both devices from  both switches ..
The failed Firewall I put into NO FAILOVER, and can ping either side of the FAILOVER / HEARTBEAT link from the other firewall.
Rebooted the FW with all Interfaces in SHUTDOWN, to check errors on bootup, any issues with failed Firewall, seem to come up correctly
So at the moment, I have a SECONDARY firewall in ACTIVE , and PRIMARY in NO FAILOVER, with interfaces in SHUTDOWN.
Need to bring PRIMARY live again, and system back to PRI / ACTIVE and SECONDARY / STANDBY

Why WINDOWS 8.1 won't install/load on PC where WIN 8 runs Fine ?
As far as System Requirements go, they are the same for WIN 8 and WIN 8.1
    Sympton:
Windows 8.1 Installation DVD loads for some time, no circle of dots, then PC reboots
with quick flash of six lines or so of white text (on black backgound) @ 106 seconds
Needed to use Smart Phone video camera to capture
    Your PC needs to restart.

Presumably message is intended for frozen PC, hence 'hold down power button'
In this case it flashes and re-boots
Windows 8.1 Image loads quickly, flash and reboots PC, having corrupted boot entry

All 8.0 & 8.1 clean Installs and Upgrades on this platform had no problems
Hope some of you can throw some light on this. What does WIN 8.1 do in the boot
process that WIN 8 does not?
And if anybody has encounterd this before...
Note to multi booters - keep or reinstall Dell or other System Reserved partition (PRI,Active)
EasyBCD/Windows Boot Manager held on this partition (eg. 350MB)
If it gets corrupted, you can Restore it, rather than Gigabytes of 1st Primary O/S
Also, it will solve a lot of problems, when manipulating/adding/backing up/restoring O/S's
    That's it, happy computing...

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Running upgrade assistant (going to Store rejects CPU, but no details)
    Results in:
    X You can't install Windows 8.1 because your processor doesn't support LAHF/SAHF.
X You can't install Windows 8.1 because your processor doesn't support PrefetchW.
There are at least three Processor requirements that M'soft does not list for WIN 8.1
and it's fairly well documented, if you ask the right question, eg.:
    http://www.pcworld.com/article/2058683/new-windows-8-1-requirements-strand-some-users-on-windows-8.html
So that's it, exclusion by 'stealth' - at least M'soft told you that processor required NX - Execute Disable Bit
    for Windows 8
For Intel units, look out for 'VT-x. Have a processor on the way, but will Motherboard pass CMPXCHG16b test?
    AND PrefetchW AND LAHF/SAHF
Windows 8 support ends 2015, that means people who bought it will have had 2 years use
WIN 8.1 Upgrade/Update (sic) is free, but costly if it won't run on your machine
So, those many people who decried Windows 8 and stuck to WIN 7, were right after all
Early supporters of WIN 8, have been 'betrayed'
'Minimum Requirement for Processor 1Ghz - don't make me laugh! (Presumably for Phone 8)
M'soft have a 'more info' link on System Requirements page, so why not spell it out...
Otherwise it looks like a PR/Cosmetic exersize

  • 11.2.0.3 RAC ASM Pri with Normal FileSys Active Standby Post Failover

The architecture consist of two node rac asm primary and one normal filesystem active standby all on Oracle 11gR2 11.2.0.3. With basic Broker Configuration.
Performed a managed broker switchover and not the Normal Filesystem has the primary role and the standby consist of the two node asm rac. I want to switchback, i.e., Former Primary -> Primary Role and Former Standby -> Standby Role.
However my broker contains the following:

  • Strange Active Directory issue on 2012 R2 2ND-DC with 2003 R2 PRI-DC

I ran into this issue earlier today which is something I haven't seen before.
Current setup is 1 Forest & 1 Domain with a single Domain Controller (W2003 R2) which obviously has all the FSMO roles since it's the only DC in the domain ever installed. We're ready to decommission this OLD W2003r2 server so I prepped a new machine
and installed Windows Server 2012 r2 on it, all patched up.
    Done the followings:
    1. Joined the new server to the domain (successful)
    2. promoted the new server to a domain controller (successful without any errors or warnings)
    3. Verified that the DNS records have replicated from the primary DC to the 2nd DC (successful)
    4. Verified that I was able to access the AD services on the new domain controller, users, ou's, sites etc. (successful)
    5. Verified replication of AD objects by adding users/ou's/distribution groups on Primary DC and see them replicate over and vice-versa (successful)
I waited about an hour just to make sure that everything has replicated over and was in sync and decided to shutdown the primary server (domain controller) to make sure things were functional on the new one and as soon as the old DC was shutdown I wasn't
able to open any of the AD services like AD Domain and Trusts, AD users and computers or AD Sites and Services. The window opened but my domain wasn't listed and neither of the related objects. What is the issue here? Shouldn't the secondary domain controller
be a replica of the primary where I can see all the objects and make changes which will sync back once the primary comes up again. I've worked in setups where we had two DC's in one domain and I was able to view the AD objects and services regardless if one
of the DC was not available, same thing in a setup with 3 DC's.
If someone can chime in on this it would be great, I'm not sure if I'm missing but it's weird.
    Regards

Did you apply the hotfix to the 2012R2 server:

  • How to fake ISDN b-channels as busy out of the pri-group timeslots definition ?

    Hi, Cisco Support Community,
This is my first post here, so I hope I won't make mistakes... First, thanks for reading me.
I wanted to reuse an old 2811 to act as a SIP gateway on an ISDN primary rate interface. This router is featured with 2 PVDM2-8 modules, so that we're able to handle up to 16 simultaneous calls. So I ordered a pri with 10 channels, which is supposed to be more than enough for our usage.
Everything works fine, excepted that I discovered that the PRI which was delivered to us is a full one, meaning 30 B channels.
As a result, as incoming calls are dispatched round robin by the isdn line provider, when incoming calls start to be presented on b-channel 16, the call is rejected by the router with a "channel unavailable" message... The only way to have a successful incoming call is then to have 15 more unsuccessful tries so that the calls are presented on B-channel 1 again :-/
I have to wait for monday to deal with the line provider to sort this out, but meanwhile, I was trying to find a workaround.
My first try was to use B-channel negotiation on the serial interface (isdn negotiate-bchan resend-setup), but it seems that b channel negociation is disabled on the provider side.
So the other obvious solution would be to fake channels 17 to 31 as busy (isdn busy b_channel xx) ... But as the pri-group timeslots are 1-16, the related serial interface is serial0/0/0:15, and I'm unable to set busy B-channels over 15. And of course, I have no way to define pri-group timeslots 1-31 as I have not enough DSPs to handle more than 16.
I also tried to use the ds0 busyout directive within the E1 controller configuration, but while the command is accepted, it does not appear in the configuration
Below is my running configuration... If some of you can help, this would be much appreciated. Current IOS on the router is Version 12.3(11)T3
    Kind regards,
    Philippe Martorell

Thanks for your answer, but unfortunately, this did not help. commands ds0 busyout are accepted, but not taken into account :

  • Time Machine wants 16 days to do an initial backup.  ps shows PRI = 33 with NI = 0.   But I can not get sudo renice to set PRI less than 15.  And renice sets NI directly with strange behavior for PRI. Any suggestions?

Time Machine said it would take 16 days to do an initial backup, and indeed, after many days it is less than a quarter done.   (The problem started when I put in a new bank disk for Time Machine to write to for its backup file.)
Activity Monitor shows that the process name is   backups   with Process ID   6060.
Then putting this PID in Terminal UNIX command ps gave:
    EdsMacPro-1:~ ed$ ps -l -p 6060
UID   PID  PPID        F CPU PRI NI       SZ    RSS ...
        0  6060     1  1004004   0  33  0  2556488  29040 ...
    Wow!  A priority of 33!
Don't know how that happened, but the way to fix that (I thought) is with renice.
    But renice doesn't work.
After a lot of playing with renice and ps, it looks as though renice can not make the priority better than (no less than) 15.
And the parameter you put in, that according to the man page that is supposed to be priority, turns out to be "nice index", with priority changed by sometimes subtracting or sometimes adding either this number or twice this number - down to a limit of priority no less than 15.
    EdsMacPro-1:~ ed$ ps -l -p 6060

This is with OSX 10.7.5 and Terminal 2.2.3 on an early 2009 Mac Pro with lots of memory.
What am I dong wrong, and any suggestions for how to fix my Time Machine process?

The backup file size is 1.67 TB.*
That's across the internal bus of a 2009 quad-core Mac Pro - which is pretty fast.
Copying an hour's worth of MPEG-2 HD takes about a minute.
I do a fresh backup from scratch about once a year, and the last time it finished over night.
This time the first Time Machine backup is only about 1/5 complete after many days, and Activity Monitor shows essentially no use of disk drives or of CPU.  And in the first note I pointed out what is gleaned by using Terminal to execute the UNIX ps command. The priority of the running Time Machine process looks incorrect to me.
I could be wrong, but I think the problem is process priority, not file size.
I am unable to set priority to 0 or a negative number.  Can someone straighten me out on how to do that?
[*The machine has four 1.5 TB disk drives in it plus lots of memory.  Two of the physical drives are configured as one 3 TB backup drive (RAID concatanated).]

  • 2811 w/ NM-1CE1T1-PRI & PVDM2-36DM - Modem lines being marked "B" Bad

We recently setup a new 2811 router (IOS 15.0(1)M7) for remote dialup access. It has a ISDN PRI network module NM-1CE1T1-PRI and a 36 port Digital Modem Module (PVDM2-36DM) installed to receive the inbound modem calls.
When the router is booted up, inbound remote dialup connections work fine for several hours. Then the router digital modem lines begin to stop working. For example, an inbound call is made but the modem tone does not answer. However a "show modem call-stats" shows that a line becomes active with a "*" symbol. When the call is hung up, the line remains in an active "*" state. Eventually the state changes to a "B - Modem is marked bad and cannot be used for taking calls". This symptom will repeat itself with each new inbound call until all of the lines are marked "B". Only a router reboot will temporarily correct the problem.
Additional symptom, "show modem version" changes to "NiOS Not Responding".

    Hi Ismel,
Modem firmware looks good to me but you can still try a firmware upgrade to V3_12_3.
If it is random number selection of bad modem then I suspect that it's an ISP issue and B-channel of ISP while termination of call, leaving the modem in Bad state.

  • Isdn still active

    Dear all,
when i just configured the isdn from the branch side and the dialer from the PRI line, it is automaticlly come up even the primary link is still up.
i check the intersting traffic which i exclude the eigrp routing protocol form it.
when i check the routing entry, i found some intry prefer isdn over the serial so i increase the delay at the bri link, so all routing change to the primary link ( serial)
you now that i can't stay the isdn active it is money so what do you suggest me to do ?

    Ahmad abu zayyad

    dear all,
i don't think it is relate to the broadcast, since i do additiona testing which is as follow:
i make the dial only from the head office: isdn stilla active :)
i make the dial from the branch only: the isdn still active :)
i do no cdp enable on both the dialer and bri interface : isdn still active :)
so what do you think is the problem.
if you think it is broadcast, so why the head office dial the branch.
    really amazing situation
any new idea or simillar case

  • Unable to generate CUSSM Trunk/PRI Utilization Report

    Dear All,
We want to generate Voice Gateways E1 Utilization report from CUSSM 8.5. I have configured CUOM 8.5 and CUSM 8.5 but i am unable to get the date for number of active calls and % utilization/PRI.
    Thanks in Advance.

Well i have done a little reading and found out that CUSSM 8.5 gives trunk utilizaition but only for MGCP Controlled Gateways. Reverting back to version 1.3

  • RTMT shows 9 PRI's, I only have 6

Recently my RTMT starting showing 9 PRI's on my cluster. I only have 6 active. I determined in RTMT the three additonal devices listed are
    FXO ports on my gateways.
How do I delete these from being reported as MGCP PRI spans in service.
    Any reply appreciated.

    Hi,
First thing, are you familiar with the name of the "new" iPad, if not, it's probably not yours. Also, do you have a password? If you don't have a password, and your rescure email address is on your iPad, it's very easy for him to change the password. You mentioned that you can see the location, once again, if you have no idea where it is, it's probably someone else's iPad. Using find my iPhone, you could display a lost message, set the password, or even erase the iPad if needed. Keep an eye on the offline iPad, If they're nearby then it's definitely stolen. Where did you lose your iPad? It would help a lot if you provide more information.
