Price control indicator and valuation class

All SAP Gurus,
Is there any relationship between price control indicator (V and S) and valuation class?
We want to change the price control for certain materials from V to S and for certain materials from S to V.
Regards,

HI ,
There is no direct releation between valution class and the Price control.
Yes but a indirect relation.
it is by the maeterial Type .
in OMS2--we define the default Price control indicator.
in OMSK -we define the Material type and the Valution class linkage.
Know the Price control Indicator always triggers your value .and the way it has to be posted.(on a default value or a Purchase value on a weighted average basis)
and valuation class triggers ..where it has to be Posted.( GL account)
so it is how.
But there could some other implication of the chase of the Price control..becoz.your Previous period price and current period would implact.
you stock valution would impact.
so check all these before you Proceed
hope so it helps
Regards
Anjanna.

  • Changing price control indicator and posting difference to sperate account

    Dear Guru's
Need your advice on how to handle the following scenario. Company wants to change the Price ontrol indicator in a material from V(moving price average) to S(Standard cost). However there is stock in the inventory for this item.Additionally they also want to change the price of the item with the difference posted to a seperate balence sheet account.

    Hello
While changing the price control, the moving average price becomes the standard price, which is then used for valuation.
You change the type of price control by overwriting the price control indicator in the material master record with the new indicator.
Changing the type of price control for a material does not change the value of the material stock, since in both cases the current price becomes the new price.
For changing the material price, use revaluation MR21.
At the time of price change, for a material subject to standard price control, the material debit or credit is posted to a price difference account. The offsetting entry is made to an income or expense account. Consequently, a material debit or credit for a material subject to standard price control does not lead to a revaluation.

  • Change of Price Control indicator.

    Hi,
Under what conditions a maerial price control indicator can be changed from 'S' to 'V" and vice versa.
    Regards,
    R. Dillibabu.

    Hi,.
If the material is split valuated you can ONLY change the V to an S on the accounting views that have a valuation type specified.
You CANNOT under ANY circumstances change the V to an S on the "higher level" accounting view of a split valuation managed material (the higher level accounting view is the one where you do not specify a valuation type.).
The reason you cannot is due to the fact that each valuation type below this higher level can have a different price and different stock quantities and so the higher level HAS to be an AVERAGE of the lower levels, managed by the system.
There is no reason why you would ever want to change the higher level view from a V to an S because this view is not used for anything. It simply stores the average price and total value of stock across all valuation types. It is not used in any business transactions.
Why do you want to change it from a V to an S?

  • Price Control Indicator

    Hi,
We noticed that one material with wrong price control indicator as "S" instead of "V". It's impacting the overall Inventory valuation. We intend to update the MAP prices for these part no at our end to reflect the correct Inventory but can proceed only once the price control indicator is corrected appropriately.
How can i acheive this issue?
Note: Material contains open po's and stock.
    Thanks & Regards

    Hi
The price control indicator in the Material master can be changed any time if it is allowable to change.
As previously you had price control S - & standrda proce maintained
when you change it to V  - The Mocving average proce will be overwritten by the Standard price thus keeping the valuation same

  • Price Control Indicator inconsistant

I am getting this error message at time of Goods Movement (Transfer Posting store to store two step Mvt 313) for a particular material.
M7315 - Price control indicator inconsistent:
The problem is I have not created Accounting views for material i have only enabled accounting view in back end configuration.
I have also checked material twice in MM03 accounting view is not created. I cannot understand why sap is giving this message if accounting view is not created.
    Any help would be useful.

    Hi,
Before transfer posting store to store, 1st check material type of material master in t.code:OMS2 and find price control in it.
Now use t.code:MM03 and search material status with views for each storage location individually with plant.
If material properties are same for two storage locations- why cannot you try with 311 movement type-Transfer posting storage location (one-step)

  • Price control indicator for finished material

    Dear Experts,
Any one can please clarify on this..
Can we maintain price control indicator for Finished Product <b>V</b> as well as <b>S</b>
Out of the above two either one may be statistical.  Considering <b>S</b> as a statistical I need to update price which is having control as <b>S</b> by releasing the std.cost estimate.  Is there is any configuration for this.
    Please help on this.
    Thanks and Regards
    Sivakumar Subramanian

    Hi Siva Kumar,
Generally we maintain Finished material at Standard price . In turn system will update also moving average price for the same material . so both can be achieved by maintaining standard price in material master.

  • Change price control indicator from standard price to moving avg price.

    Hi All,
There is a material which has a negative stock for the previous period and the previous period is already closed.
When i want to change the price control indicator from S to V for that material in the current period, it shows an error that "negative stock is there, unable to change price indicator".
Kindly help me to solve this issue.
    Thanks,
    AK

the price control indicator can be changed  from standard price to moving avg price at any time .......with some restrictions.
And one of these restriction is the one you see.
You must not have negative stock.
Hence you have to make the negative stock zero
Since your negative stock is in the previous period, you either have to allow posting into previous periods (trx MMRV , of course Finance has to allow this as well)  first. Then you can post e.g. a 202 movement with previous period date  which has a quantity that equals your negative quantity. then you change your price control, then you do a 201 movement (again with previous period date), finally you can restrict posting into previous periods again in MMRV.
or you just wait a few days, then with the month end closure your curent period becomes previous period and hopefully you will not have negative stocks again. then you can change the price control without any problem (I usually take care that moving average and standard price are equal befor I change the price control)

  • Change material type and valuation class

    hi
my client want to change material type and valuation class in their production system. but the material no. and some transaction had done by this material. anything i need to concern? especially, in FI part. thank

Hey Changing of Material Type is one step
Changing of valuation class is other
and underneth that changing of account is another attached to the valuation class.
The basic requiremnt will be that client want to change the G/L code attached to the valuation class.
If you have already done some transaction it is not fininacialy right to move valuation classes.
Tell in detail what is the requiremnt.

  • Price control V and price determination 3

In the  material master record 'price control is given as V and price determination indicator as 3 . With this combination , in the sale order pricing, which price would be picked up by VPRS condition ?   Material ledger is activated for this material .
    Regards
    Mahesh .

    hi,
For Make to order scenerio, the price of finished goods will be Standard price ' s'. for Raw material it will be Moving average price"v".
For VPRS condition it will take Standard price of product.
if ur using with Quantity structure, then the price of Raw material in BOM and routing will be shown in ck11n.
Better to take EK02 Condition in pricing procedure with maitaining Requirement class and type.
It will automatically show the price of finished product  when u click on cost calculation tab in sales order.

  • Price Control Indicator in Material Master Record (Accounting View1)

    Hi,
Is there any way to make the Standard Price (S) or Moving Average Price (V) automatically SET in Material Master Record? So that everytime we create a material, there will be no need to enter which price we prefer.

    Hi,
Go to OMS2. select material type- goto detail- Tick 'Price control Mandatory".
Also if you maintain "ext pro allowed i,e,2" ,system will pick price control V automatically.
For price control S, maintain Int proc allowed as 2.

  • Split valuation and price control

    Dear all,
Case :the price control for mat'l type MAIN is defined as S in IMG,
    mat'l no.A with mat'l type MAIN,
    test 1:
In plant 01, A with price control S
In plant 02, A with price control V, valuation category X, problem is when I create a PO in plant 02 with mat'l A,when goods receipt,  the accounting docs is wrong(D:price difference, C:GR/IR), the debit should be inventory account, it should not hv price diff with price control V under this situation,
    test 2,
In plant 02, A with price control V, without valuation category, the acounting document when goods receipt is correct.
    test 3,
changed the price control for mat'l type MAIN to V in IMG,
In plant 02, A with price control V, valuation category X, when goods receipt , the accounting document is correct also.
I doubt why this happen, do the split valuation or valuation category X effect?or there's any priority abt price control?
Urgent, can anyone instruct me? thanks in advance, will assign points, thanks.
    kathy

    Hi, Kathy:
The price control in master data of material have the priority.
Besides, I guess the error happened is due to the incorrect valuation area configuration. If your valuation area is set to company code level, the system will use the same valuation method within a company code.
In this case, you need to set the valuation area as plant level to differentiate the valuation methods between different plants.
    Hope it's helpful for you!

  • MR21 for split valuation & price control "V"

    hi all,
Case: Split valuation is activated but parent has price control "V" and child i.e. diff valuation types have "S". We want to make std prices of all valuation types "0". It is done but the parent still shows value in MAP.
    a. How do we make MAP of parent as "0" (price control "V"), will it allow?
    b. Will it impact and how e.g. MB5L
    c. Is it ok if we ignore the valuation of parent
    d. All valuation types under parent are made "0"
    Thx
    Bhushan

    Hi
The price control at the plant level will always be V,where at the valuation type level either V or S can be maintianed. It is not recommeneded to ignore the valuation class at the plalnt level in case of split valuation because if you are going for costing run then this needs to be maintained.becoz cost of a material procured needs to be determined at plant level

  • Batch valuation with different price control

    Hi experts,
Our requirement is to combine batch valuation and split valuation for the same material. We want to have valuation by batch (1 price for each batch). However, we need to classify the material into 2 types because of price control.
    Example:
We classify batches into 2 types.
    - in-house production (Price control S)
    - purchasing (Price control V)
Make use of user exit, we may have batches starting with:
    - PRD000001, PRD000002, PRD000003...
    - PUR000001, PUR000002, PUR000003...
    Our question is:
How can we achieve the requirement where sometimes we want S and sometimes we want V at batch level?
We understand that we can change the price control in material master after the batch is generated. But is it possible to change price control at the same time when batch is generated?
Please feel free to give any idea. Thanks a lot.

It is possible to have batch specific valuation by using valuation category X. This way, you will have a valuation type for each batch.
If the batches are created in advance (and not during material movements), then it is possible to have a separate price control and valuation class depending on batch number.
In your case, since the batch nomenclature for inhouse produced and purchased are different, it can be done without confusion.

  • Valuation Class and G/L account

    Hi.,
If i am trying to view the G/L accounts assigned to each valuation class, which Table should i be looking under. Or should it be under a T-Code??
    Tx
    Mahesh

    Manish.,
OMWB gives me a list segregated as per the Valuation area , of the Valuation classes which are displayed after configuration.
Now as i browse ,say in BSX, when i need to add a valuation modifier and a valuation class to a GL account, how can i see the GL account assigned to that valuation class.
I understand that the assignment are done in OBYC.
When i go to assign the valaution modifier and valuation class to a GL account, i see the whole list of GL accounts which are there in the system.
But if i need to see the default settings for a valuation class vs GL account, where do i look?
Or do i have to ask the FI team for the G/L account which has been assigned to that particular Valuation class.???
