Price Control Indicator

Hi,
We noticed that one material with wrong price control indicator as "S" instead of "V". It's impacting the overall Inventory valuation. We intend to update the MAP prices for these part no at our end to reflect the correct Inventory but can proceed only once the price control indicator is corrected appropriately.
How can i acheive this issue?
Note: Material contains open po's and stock.
Thanks & Regards

Hi
The price control indicator in the Material master can be changed any time if it is allowable to change.
As previously you had price control S - & standrda proce maintained
when you change it to V  - The Mocving average proce will be overwritten by the Standard price thus keeping the valuation same

  • Change of Price Control indicator.

    Hi,
Under what conditions a maerial price control indicator can be changed from 'S' to 'V" and vice versa.
    Regards,
    R. Dillibabu.

    Hi,.
If the material is split valuated you can ONLY change the V to an S on the accounting views that have a valuation type specified.
You CANNOT under ANY circumstances change the V to an S on the "higher level" accounting view of a split valuation managed material (the higher level accounting view is the one where you do not specify a valuation type.).
The reason you cannot is due to the fact that each valuation type below this higher level can have a different price and different stock quantities and so the higher level HAS to be an AVERAGE of the lower levels, managed by the system.
There is no reason why you would ever want to change the higher level view from a V to an S because this view is not used for anything. It simply stores the average price and total value of stock across all valuation types. It is not used in any business transactions.
Why do you want to change it from a V to an S?

  • Changing price control indicator and posting difference to sperate account

    Dear Guru's
Need your advice on how to handle the following scenario. Company wants to change the Price ontrol indicator in a material from V(moving price average) to S(Standard cost). However there is stock in the inventory for this item.Additionally they also want to change the price of the item with the difference posted to a seperate balence sheet account.

    Hello
While changing the price control, the moving average price becomes the standard price, which is then used for valuation.
You change the type of price control by overwriting the price control indicator in the material master record with the new indicator.
Changing the type of price control for a material does not change the value of the material stock, since in both cases the current price becomes the new price.
For changing the material price, use revaluation MR21.
At the time of price change, for a material subject to standard price control, the material debit or credit is posted to a price difference account. The offsetting entry is made to an income or expense account. Consequently, a material debit or credit for a material subject to standard price control does not lead to a revaluation.

  • Price control indicator and valuation class

    All SAP Gurus,
Is there any relationship between price control indicator (V and S) and valuation class?
We want to change the price control for certain materials from V to S and for certain materials from S to V.
    Regards,

    HI ,
There is no direct releation between valution class and the Price control.
    Yes but a indirect relation.
it is by the maeterial Type .
in OMS2--we define the default Price control indicator.
in OMSK -we define the Material type and the Valution class linkage.
Know the Price control Indicator always triggers your value .and the way it has to be posted.(on a default value or a Purchase value on a weighted average basis)
and valuation class triggers ..where it has to be Posted.( GL account)
    so it is how.
But there could some other implication of the chase of the Price control..becoz.your Previous period price and current period would implact.
    you stock valution would impact.
so check all these before you Proceed
    hope so it helps

  • Price Control Indicator inconsistant

I am getting this error message at time of Goods Movement (Transfer Posting store to store two step Mvt 313) for a particular material.
M7315 - Price control indicator inconsistent:
The problem is I have not created Accounting views for material i have only enabled accounting view in back end configuration.
I have also checked material twice in MM03 accounting view is not created. I cannot understand why sap is giving this message if accounting view is not created.
    Any help would be useful.

    Hi,
Before transfer posting store to store, 1st check material type of material master in t.code:OMS2 and find price control in it.
Now use t.code:MM03 and search material status with views for each storage location individually with plant.
If material properties are same for two storage locations- why cannot you try with 311 movement type-Transfer posting storage location (one-step)

  • Price control indicator for finished material

    Dear Experts,
Any one can please clarify on this..
Can we maintain price control indicator for Finished Product <b>V</b> as well as <b>S</b>
Out of the above two either one may be statistical.  Considering <b>S</b> as a statistical I need to update price which is having control as <b>S</b> by releasing the std.cost estimate.  Is there is any configuration for this.
    Please help on this.
    Thanks and Regards
    Sivakumar Subramanian

    Hi Siva Kumar,
Generally we maintain Finished material at Standard price . In turn system will update also moving average price for the same material . so both can be achieved by maintaining standard price in material master.

  • Change price control indicator from standard price to moving avg price.

    Hi All,
There is a material which has a negative stock for the previous period and the previous period is already closed.
When i want to change the price control indicator from S to V for that material in the current period, it shows an error that "negative stock is there, unable to change price indicator".
Kindly help me to solve this issue.
    Thanks,
    AK

the price control indicator can be changed  from standard price to moving avg price at any time .......with some restrictions.
And one of these restriction is the one you see.
You must not have negative stock.
Hence you have to make the negative stock zero
Since your negative stock is in the previous period, you either have to allow posting into previous periods (trx MMRV , of course Finance has to allow this as well)  first. Then you can post e.g. a 202 movement with previous period date  which has a quantity that equals your negative quantity. then you change your price control, then you do a 201 movement (again with previous period date), finally you can restrict posting into previous periods again in MMRV.
or you just wait a few days, then with the month end closure your curent period becomes previous period and hopefully you will not have negative stocks again. then you can change the price control without any problem (I usually take care that moving average and standard price are equal befor I change the price control)

  • Price Control Indicator in Material Master Record (Accounting View1)

    Hi,
Is there any way to make the Standard Price (S) or Moving Average Price (V) automatically SET in Material Master Record? So that everytime we create a material, there will be no need to enter which price we prefer.

    Hi,
Go to OMS2. select material type- goto detail- Tick 'Price control Mandatory".
Also if you maintain "ext pro allowed i,e,2" ,system will pick price control V automatically.
For price control S, maintain Int proc allowed as 2.

  • Change of price control in material master

    Hi, SAP experts,
We have  business scenario where the procurement type in MRP-2 view of material master gets changed from F to  E that is an externally procured item will be manufactured inhouse.
In such case in costing view the price control needs to be changed from V to S. If both MAP & std. price  are not identical, system is not allowing to change. Secondly since the item will be manufactured inhouse from now onwards, I have to run the cost estimate & update the master.
How do I deal with the situation.
    Valuable advice is awaited.
    Regds
    T.S.Shankar

    Hi Shankar,
When the price control indicator is "V", system will allow changing the Standard price manually through Transaction code MM02.
Similarly when the price control indicator is "M", system will allow changing the Moving average price manually through Transaction code MM02.
    Hope this clarifies

  • FREIGHT COST TO BE ADDED TO MATERIAL VALUE FOR PRICE CONTROL"S"

    hi,
How to add the frieght cost to  material cost for the materials with "S" price control While doing MIGO ?
Edited by: ARITRA MUKHERJEE on Mar 3, 2010 5:07 PM

    Hi
By stating Price control Indicator  S ,it means that you are valuating your inventory at a standard or Fixed price (As maintainred in the Material master ).Hence your Inventory will be valuated at the standard price no matter what additional expenses you incur

  • Price control in material master.

    Dear all,
How can i change the Price control key(V to S) in material master.
and what are the implication after change the price control.
    Please suggest.
    Regards,
    Vishal Garg

    Hello
In the SAP System, there are two types of price control:
Standard price & Moving average price.
These two types of price control differ in how they handle price variances resulting from goods receipts or invoice receipts.
Changing the Type of Price Control
Under certain conditions, you can change the type of price control:
From standard price to moving average price
You can make this change at any time. The moving average price (which until now has been updated for informational purposes only) replaces the standard price and is used for valuation from now on.
From moving average price to standard price
You cannot make this change in the following two cases:
If the material master record is set up as a valuation header record for a material subject to split valuation
If the standard price comes from costing and is not equal to the moving average price
If the change is possible, the moving average price becomes the standard price, which is then used for valuation.
You change the type of price control by overwriting the price control indicator in the material master record with the new indicator.
Changing the type of price control for a material does not change the value of the material stock, since in both cases the current price becomes the new price.
    An example is given below:
Standard price to Moving average price
    Material A
    Price control: S
    Moving average Price: 8
    Standard Price: 10
    Total Stock: 100
    Total Stock value: 1000
Now we change the material price control to 'V'. Then
    Material A
    Price control: M
    Moving average price:10
    Standard price: 10
    Total Stock: 100
    Total Stock value: 1000
    Moving average to standard price
    Material B
    Price control: V
    Moving average Price: 8
    Standard Price: 0
    Total Stock: 100
    Total Stock value: 800
Now we change the material price control to 'S'. Then
    Material B
    Price control: S
    Moving average price:8
    Standard price: 8
    Total Stock: 100
    Total Stock value: 800
Hope this will clear your doubts.

  • Default Price Control in material type

While creating a material in particular material type is there any way that price control type i.e V or S can be configured for a particular material type.
Edited by: amitekum on Nov 3, 2010 1:00 PM

    Hi,
You can maintain default price control indicator at the time of creating material master record.
If you user needs to change this indicator, they can change.
If Client is saying, don't want to allow these indicator change - You can control by maintaining material type settings.
    Transcation : OMS2
Select your material type abd click on the details icon
In the Valuation block, maintain Price control field default as per ur requirement.
    Price control = S or V
If you activated   Priice ctrl mandatory  check box, which is in the same block then Price control indiactor filed becomes displaymode in the material master record. No one can change default price control indicator.,

  • Change price control V to S

    Hi there:
We wanted to change price control type from V to S and also need to input 20 usd as standard price, so I went ot mm02 to change price control V to S, after that,I used mr21 to update standard price, then I saw price change document posted, do I need to change other area? Please advise.

    Hi,

  • Price controll indicators

    Hi,
In our config settings, price control indicator does not default to material master based on the material type. The indicator ‘V’ (moving average) / ‘S’ (Standard price) can be edited while updating material master.
How can we overcum the issue ?

SAP standard makes it optional to change the price indicator, while you are in MM02.
However, if, after having defaulted the price control indicator through configuration, you have compelling business reason to make the field display, You can do that display only for MM02. The t-code is OMS9. The concerned field is MBEW-VPRSV which, in standard, is included in the field group no. 32.
By the configuration Price Control Mandatory check box in the define attr. of material type, you make the value default <b>if you do not check that box</b>. If you want to make it always S or V then tick that box.

  • Actual Cost of Product with Price control "S"

    Dear Gurus,
Is there any report available where we can know the Actual Costs of Materials with Price Control "S".
In the material master field the actual cost in the "Moving Price Tab" of the material with Price Control "S" is available, but is there any report available for plant level?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Amit Dhanurdhari.

    Hi Amit,
-- Under Standard Costing, you value your inventory at Standard Costs and any variances in Production Process will be settled to Price Difference Account. You will not be able to find out actual cost per unit. In Multi-level BOM scenario under Standard Costing (CO-PC), variances don't get rolled-up to the next level, only costs get rolled-up.
-- Under Actual Costing - Material Ledger, You will be able to find out the Actual Cost per Unit. Variances get rolled-up to the next level.
To explain difference between Standard Costing in CO-PC and Material Ledger briefly....
You have given Price Indicator as "S" in the material master of "X" material (semi finisher or finished) and you are doing Standard Cost Estimate for arriving at Standard Cost per tonne. Let's say, the Standard Cost per tonne is Rs.1000/-
Now, when you created production order for 10 tonnes and received output of 10 tonnes (GR). But the total cost incurred on that production order is Rs.1100/-. In this situation, actual cost per tonne is Rs.110.
But, because you are following Standard Costing, When you post GR against this Production Order, inventory will be posted at Standard cost only, i.e., Rs.1000/-. and the balance of Rs.100 will be posted to Price Difference Account. (and parallally the variance of Rs.100/-) will flow to COPA.
So, it is clear that, though, at Production Order level you can see the actual cost, at "material" level, you will not be able to see the actual cost per tonne.(as long as you are using only Product Costing and Standard Costing)
Alternatively, if you maintain Price Indicator as "V", you will able to get the Actual Cost per tonne at material level, but there will be no scope for establishing standard cost and comparison with actual thereof.
But, the same is possible if you are using Material Ledger (CO-ML). If Material Ledger is active, you will be maintaining "S" in the material master, still, the variances will be settled inventory and you will be able to get the actual cost per tonne. (bothe Standard cost estimate, actual cost per tonne will be possible).
Pls revert back for further explanation
