Price drop on X1900

i was just doing some checkin on reconfig my cto and i noticed a $90 price difference from the same cto i have now then the one i just made that is exactly the same - so i go looking at the additional cost of the items and see that the x1900 is down to $225 now.
could this be cause of the x1950?

Well I just called Apple and changed my order. i took the 1900 XT off the order and they will credit me the difference since i already paid for it. But it brought my ship time down 13 days. So i am free now to either order the 1900 seperately or wait for the new card the 1950 . I got the standard card to get me by. I am just driving the 30 in at the moment so that will keep me going for awhile. Now the big question is spend 400 on the 1900 and wait or just wait for the 1950 which will probably be the same price.
Oh and you can thank me , i just moved you guys up one notch. LOL
We need more Video card suppliers

Gregory Johnson, Director of the Consumer Defense Resource Group, responds to the recent iPhone price drop.
In a strange turn of events this week, some consumers are upset now because as of Wednesday (Sept. 5) Apple lowered the retail price of their iPhone by $200. The 8GB iPhone is now $400 rather than $600. Customers raised such an outcry that Steve Jobs has published an open letter in response.
Apple and other companies are continually coming out with new products that usually offer more speed, more storage, more features, and cost less than previous models. Nobody has ever complained -- until now. Why haven't people complained in the past when Apple has had significant price drops and major upgrades on their other products? There wasn't a revolt then. There were no mobs of angry customers demanding rebates.
My first CD drive was a 2X speed external drive that required a special interface card in the computer. It cost $1,200 and today better drives are available for about $30. My first scanner was a very slow and big unit costing over $1,000. Today, better scanners are available for under $100. My first computer cost more than $2,000 and had a 20MB hard drive. With 8GB of storage, the iPhone should cost about $800,000. So, $600 didn’t seem too expensive.
I bought my iPhone for $600 knowing that by next year they would probably drop to about $300 or $400. I didn't think there would be a mid-year drop, but so what. I knew the trajectory of technology progress would mean that a better phone will be available in 6 to 9 months at probably a lower price -- more apps, faster, more features, more memory. It's a given. You buy something this month. Next month it will be obsolete. That's just the way it is. Perhaps Apple should put a disclaimer on their website stating: "Warning: Our products will increasingly become faster, cooler, more innovative, and offer greater value for the dollar as time goes on. Get used to it."
Apple is progressing so quickly now, beyond any other technology innovation company, that this kind of thing is likely to happen again in the future with some other product of theirs. Are people going to complain each time? Must the company give out rebates each time? This all seems so silly. It’s no longer possible to compare Apple to other companies with regard to their ability to implement product improvements. It’s like dog years versus human years. Two months in Apple’s world of product development is equal to about 6 to 9 months for most manufacturers. I know it is difficult, but people need to get used to that.
To the complainers out there, I have a few questions. Would you like Apple to be less innovative? Would you like Apple to not give you more value and voluntarily drop their prices by hundreds of dollars? Is that what you want? Don't get upset at Apple just because they are pushing the envelope of technical innovation and value from one month to the next. What if Apple released an 8-core computer this summer and then by fall they announced their new 16-core computer? This is the kind of development and progress pace we need to start expecting from Apple. The migration to Intel processors went much faster than anticipated.
Some research suggests that the iPhone cost of materials are about $300. So, there had been some complaints that Apple is price gouging by selling the iPhone for twice that amount. What people don’t understand is that there are other costs in building a piece of technology and running a business beyond the electronic components that go into them. The actual cost per 8GB iPhone is probably about $550. When Apple sells them for $400 each, I calculate they are taking a loss on the phone of about $150 per phone. Why would a company do this? There is something called a “lost leader” in retail sales. It’s a product you sell below your cost in an effort to rapidly expand your customer base. I’m guessing this is what Apple is doing by offering the iPhone at such an amazingly low price.
I'm planning to purchase an Apple notebook sometime soon. I'm not in a hurry, so I'm waiting until they announce the next major upgrade to their notebook line. I'm guessing it will be this fall. If I really was in a rush to get a notebook, I'd get one now, and then be a little disappointed when the new ones are announced -- but I wouldn’t be surprised. Instead, I'm waiting. I'd like to see built-in broadband cards (cellular data access) and LED back lighting in the 17-inch notebook. Perhaps larger hard drives and faster processors would be nice. It would be wonderful if it had an optical glass touch screen like the iPhone.
This latest uproar reminds me of the consumer complaints about iPods scratching. For decades, portable handheld computing devices have been available. They get scratched, and nobody says anything. Anyone concerned about their device scratching can purchase a protective cover. Then Apple comes along and offers their product. Suddenly consumers are in an uproar about it scratching and there is a class action lawsuit. It doesn’t seem fair that the most progressive and innovative company out there is the one that gets beaten up by consumers the most.

I've read too many reports in the media from people more highly credentialed than Mr. Johnson to the contrary.
The analogies and comparisons are still way off. Production didn't get cheaper, the phone didn't get upgraded, no carrier's are subsidizing, retailer's are not discounting. Never has the MSRP of CD-ROMs, nor cellphones, nor HDTV's dropped this quickly in history.
I'm tired and going to bed. But here's your assignment. Apple's price decrease rate is 33.3% in 67 days. What would a $10,000 item cost at that rate in one year?
Actually product advancement and innovation are very much the central issue here. Apple has effectively "upgraded" the 4GB unit to 8GB and reduced the price by $100. It's all in how you look at it.
The real issue of innovation and development has yet to be seen, but the recent price drop is an indicator that Apple already has something "in the shoot" to be released soon.
I was thinking it might take a year for a new version of the iPhone to be announced. Yet, with the recent price drop, it seems they may be lowering the price on the original unit to make room for a new one. Which is my point exactly. Apple is so fast at innovating that they already have something new to release (that's my prediction).
They can't release something new and sell the old units if the "something new" and the "something old" are at the same price. It makes sense that the 8GB unit would drop to $400 and the new one will be $600.

  • $1,400 Overpriced, huge price drop very soon?

I've wanted a MacBook Pro for quite a while now. The only things that are holding me back are: MBPs need a much better video card and the price. I was looking at Dell (don't worry, my next computer will be a Mac) and the Inspiron 1720 with:
    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7700 (2.4GHz/800Mhz FSB/4MB cache)
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium Edition
    Jet Black
High Resolution, glossy widescreen 17.0 inch display (1920 x 1200)
    256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8600M GT
    2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 at 667MHz
Size: 160GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM)
CD / DVD writer (DVD+/-RW Drive)
    Dell Wireless 1390 802.11g Mini-Card
    Integrated 2.0 Megapixel Webcam
56Whr Lithium Ion Battery (6 cell)
    High Definition Audio 2.0
    http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&oc=DNDWMA2&s= dhs
This configuration costs $1,674. The closest model of MBP to these specs is the $2,800 model and even after that you need $200 of upgrades to meet these specs. I want to bring to Apple's attention how cheap notebooks are becoming and how much a HUGE price drop would help Apple's sales and increase the percentage of Mac owners. So Apple: gaming notebooks with SLI (or a huge improvement on the current card) and atleast a $1,000 price drop and I'll buy a MBP the first day this changes are announced. What do you guys think?

Well, 1st off, Apple does not read these boards (at least, officially).
So, visit http://www.apple.com/feedback/macbookpro.html to speak (type, technically) your mind.
Not sure where youcome up with the extra $200 needed, but for the Dell you missed bluetooth, N wireless and 30 days tech support options, which brings it $1,843, and of course, gigabit ethernet and a backlit keyboard don't seem to be options.
And there's the form factor - the Dell is an inch deeper, 0.7 inches thicker, and around a pound heavier.
    But yes, it's cheaper.

  • Does the Wish List for iPhone/iPad/iPod show price drops?

Does the Wish List for iPhone/iPad/iPod show price drops? I assume it would show the new price in the Wish List but does it inform you if the price drops?

The apps which show on the file sharing section on your iPad when connected to your computer's iTunes, you have exactly the same apps installed on your iPhone - they are not separate iPad and iPhone apps that you have installed on your iPad/iPhone, and only the iPad version supports file sharing ?
For iBooks, that won't show, it doesn't support file sharing. You can add ibooks / epubs / PDFs to your computer's iTunes library (the iBooks app if you are using a Mac with OS X Mavericks on it) via File > Add To Library, and you sync them to a device via its Books tab :
If you want to copy them off the device to your computer's iTunes (to the iBooks app on Mavericks) then File > Devices > Transfer Purchases will copy them over (that will copy PDFs and epubs from the iBooks app on your device, not just ibooks).

  • Zen Nano Plus Price Drop; Are they dumping these due to problems? Worth buyi

The GB Nano Plus is only $70; $60 for GB Nano. This is on Creative's own website as well as Amazon.com
    http://us.creative.com/shop/shopcategory.asp?category=23
The specs are everything I want in a device for running / mtn biking / hiking. There's only one thing that keeps me from hitting "Buy": I get the feeling that creative is dumping this whole line due to problems (hence the huge price drop recently).
Is it safe to buy this thing? Is creative responsi've to warranty requests? What's the deal with only 90 days of service on a -year warranty?
As a current owner, would you jump on this player at it's current price point or tell me to RUN AWAY due to the problems it has?

    ssjmichael wrote:
There's no problems. There's been a drop in flash memory prices so they can sell them cheaper. Additionally they are streamlining their products so they are trying to sell their old stuff and make way for newer players. Two new flash players are expected later this month.

Maybe it's because I'm seeing a biased sample of owners? If you are happy with your product, maybe you are less likely to come to these forums and less likely to post a review on Amazon?
On Amazon, about /5 of the reviews were -star due to mechanical problems (battery door, won't turn on, turns off after 5 seconds, other problems...)
On this website, about 50% of the posts are about problems. But I guess forums tend to be the place for that...
So, do you actually own one of these and has it been good to you? If you read too many forum posts it can really scare you away from almost any MP3 playing product...

  • What is the anticipated price drop for the iPhone4 once the 5th edition is released?

I have currently discovered a new found hatred for my Blackberry, and am very eager to get an iPhone.  However, I am not eligible for an upgrade through Verizon until August of 2012.  At the moment, I am unable to pay $650.00 outright, and was wondering what you tech gurus anticipate the price drop will be once the iPhone 5 is released, or possibly when the holidays roll around.
    Thank you

  • Why is everybody saying a $200 price drop is normal?

My initial shock and horror at a $200 price drop was focused on Apple. I didn’t think anything would get me more irate until I read customers reactions on the forum. I can’t believe some of you are acting like this is a normal progression, and most products do the same thing.
    ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME!!!
This is completely unprecedented. No company in their right mind would drop the price of their product by a third. Especially after only two months. These are the actions of a company going into bankruptcy, and accountants liquidating their assets. It’s not the actions of a prosperous company with products that almost everyone wants.
I would love to be proven wrong on this point, because I love Apple products, but the only reasonable explanation I can see is Steve Jobs willfully committed price gouging. You cannot cover your R&D, and tooling costs in just two months. He could have charge 400 from day one. He knew he had a fanatically loyal fan base, and he used that to his own personal advantage.

OMG ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING??? Sony dropped the price of PS3 this summer by $100, and pretty much phased out the earliest version of its next generation hardware. Blue Ray player cost $1000 not long ago and now it's $400.... OMG we all should want a full refund!!
No, a better idea, stop your whining and shock and horror.... you bought the hype and paid for it. You purchased a device you clearly don't really need and not an essential for you. The fact that you have a full two months to play with it (and you were probably pretty happy with it for those two months) should be enough to justify the $100 extra you paid.
By the way, most fashion products go on sale within 2 months after its initial release, case example now all summer gears are on sale, as much as %50 off or more. You want to get a full refund over a summer gears you been wearing all summer long? Really? After you had a full two months to wear it and enjoy it? Get over yourself, and next time stop being an early adopter, learn this lesson well, and never ever ever buy the hype. And by all means will yourself to resist the temptation to buy the must have cool items of the moment.... Iphone Touch is coming soonish, and I can bet you those holiday shoppers will be extremely ****** when they find out that coming in February the new ipod touch will be released... Oh the horror and the nerve of Apple to release another better product for the same price right after Christmas!!

  • Price drop on refurbished Macbook Pros?

I am looking for mac pro and was wondering if the prices are going to drop in the refurbished store since the new ones just came out? if they are, when will the prices change?

You will have to monitor the refurbished section and see if and when the prices drop.  I know of no source that can give you that information.
I have seen a specific model appear one day and then be gone the next day.
    Ciao.

  • Price drop detect

We tried yesterday to set a new price for app as a promotion, we set a up a new tier for a month.
As a result in iTunes Connect, we get:
    Old Tier -> Existing - 10/24/2012
    New Tier -> 10/25/2012 - 11/25/2012
    Old Tier -> 11/26/2012 - None
But our app price drop is not detected by the different website which tracks app price modification. (which is one of the point to a price promotion)
    Any ideas ?
Can't figure out why we are not detected as a price drop, we've already done this a couple of month ago, for about 5 days, and in 5 days it was still not detected as a promotion.
Still the same now. What are we missing?

My thought on the subject is that Apple knows that there are people who will prefer to buy the G5 version for a while.
There are people who have a substantial investment in PowerPC software. Not all of this software will run as smoothly (or at all) on the new Intel systems. For example, a Pro-Level program may make extensive use (and be optimized specifically for) the AltiVec numeric processor.
Likewise, the current G5 is a 64-BIT system. So, programs that move huge amounts of information around at a time may perform better with a 64-BIT processor. Especially if they are already optimized for that processor.
So, say for example that you have a business which has a substantial investment in PowerPC software, and you have one computer die. You are not going to re-invest in new software so you can replace that one machine. You'll instead go out and purchase another machine that will fit in with your current needs.
Apple knows this. So, rather than lose out on potential sales (if people go to the used market instead of the new machines), they have logically decided to offer the machine as a "Legacy" product.
So, if your needs are a proven PowerPC that will directly replace your dead machine and get you back up and running like nothing happened, then you'll buy the PowerPC G5 version.
If you don't have any Pro Level apps (especially those from other companies), and you can live with a minor performance hit for the emulation (yes I know they don't like to call it emulation - instead they call it translation or similar), then you might go for the Intel system.
When it comes to business users, Apple surely knows that they can charge a premium price to fill a need for a legacy system.

  • ZEN Micro 5GB Price drop in

The ZEN Micro 5GB has dropped from ?59.99 to ?39.99 according to Amazon UK.
Has the UK followed the USA's price drop in ZEN Micros?

In Finland, just in couple days price dropped from 243. ---> 209?.
I just got my micro last week with the old price, but luckily this store will pay me back this new price difference in a couple days

  • This end of the year. Ipod touch 5th gen price drop.

Since, there will be a newer iphone model and ipad air and mini models. I was wondering since there are few people who are interested in buying the 5th gen. Will there be a price drop? I've been using my IPT4 as a music/video player, web surfing and play games for almost 4 years since it was released. Will there be another price drop this upcoming BER months? I was planning to buy a 64GB model. But the local MAC stores here are already sold out of IPT5 64GB and there wouldn't be a new shipment until further notice. How much is a 64GB in us and how do I ship it plus pay it? I don't have any credit cards but I do use cash.

My country is in the Philippines and in here. The cost of an ipod touch 5th gen 64GB is quite similar to the iPhone 4s 8GB. Wherein the price in here is roughly $500. The reason why I get a huge internal memory is I have tons of movies which had a file size of 2Gb per video. Note that this isn't converted on HD MP4. My friends told me to purchase an apple device outside my country. I don't own a credit card but I have enough money to buy a 64GB model.
Anyway the price of the iphone 5s in here is almost a fortune. roughly $1,138 if you converted it to US. But it doesn't have any carrier yet. The same goes for the ipad air and mini whose price is above $600. I always envy for those guys in US or in Europe who can buy these at not going above the $1,000 margin. The only thing that I can purchase as of now is the IPT5 64GB. How much is the shipment cost + the device model.

  • Nice gesture, but admit that this price drop is not typical

The $100 credit is a nice and perhaps adequate gesture, but what bothers me the most about this ordeal is that Steve Jobs will not explicitly recognize the fact that a 33% price drop in the first two months of a product debut is not typical for Apple products, or for any new product. He stated in the WSJ article something to the effect of this being a consequence of the bumpy road of technology. Even in his open letter to iPhone purchasers he sticks to this idea. It's complete BS and he knows it. This has never happened with an Apple product, and drops in (retail) price of this magnitude does not even happen with other mobile phones. It would be nice if Jobs would just come out and say what he has implied with the $100 credit: The $200 price reduction in the iPhone at this point in it's market life is very atypical and people are understandably upset about it.

  • Rumors of a display price drop?

I read somewhere on these display lists about a rumored price drop on the cinema displays.
Anyone know anything to substantiate these rumors?
I see today's Apple announcements didn't include any price reductions on the displays....
    Just curious.

Before you decide an HDTV is the right choice for you, check out HDTV as a Computer Monitor.
Regardless, the point I was trying to make is that you can't reliably estimate the power usage of something from what something else uses. Note that the 'Surprises' article uses specific HDTV's to make its point, but that doesn't mean another model from the same manufacturer will have the same overall power usage characteristics. That will depend on the features it supports, which are in use at any given time, & so on.
For instance, any product with the Energy Star logo must consume less than 1 watt in standby mode, but there is much more to it than that. For more about this, see for example EPEAT and ENERGY STAR compliance - HP Small and Medium Business.
The bottom line is there is no one average power use rating for anything. The best you can do is pick a product with an EPEAT Gold rating, get a power consumption monitoring device like this one, & see how much power the thing actually uses when different features are in use.
