Price for a year old Yoga 13

Hello
I have the opportunity to buy a year old Yoga 13 128GB SSD 4GB RAM i7 processor
However I have no idea of what is a fair price and have not yet found any similar specs and age being sold online.
Can anyone guide me as to a fair price. I know the current owner, so it will have been treated reasonably well.
thanks

If you've cycled your battery 534 times in less than a year, you're flogging it within an inch of its life. Completely discharging and recharging your battery 1-1/2 times a day is as hard on it as anything you could possibly do to it, short of storing it in a closed parked car in the summer sun.
And still, after 53.4% of your rated 1000 cycles are gone, you've only lost 55% of the 1/5 of the battery's original Full charge Capacity that Apple expects you will lose in 1000 cycles. That is to say, despite your extremely hard usage of your battery, it's almost exactly on pace to meet Apple's stated expectation that it will still have 80% of its original Full Charge Capacity after 1000 cycles. Your disappointment is completely unwarranted, and you certainly have no reason to ask for or expect a replacement battery.
If you want it to last as long as possible, stop deep-discharging it every time you use it, and plug in your AC adapter whenever you can.

    Hi there
The Student membership is an annual plan so you'll pay the same price each month for 12 months regardless of when you graduate during that year.

  • Repeated loss of landline service for 78 year old ...

My 78 year old mother lives alone and has some fairly major health issues.  For the third time in three weeks, she has lost the use of her landline and would be unable to call for an ambulance if one was needed.  BT say this is due to the theft of copper from cables and seem to be saying that they will repair as soon as they can but, despite being a priority customer, this has taken up to four days to be resolved.  We contact BT who say the problem is in my mother's house and that she will be charged £127 if this is proven and we go through this each time, only to be eventually told that it is another cable issue.  This time, rather than hanging on the phone for half an hour, my sister reported it online but it doesn't show a live fault and a different screen just says BT are aware of the issue!  What is happening her?

    Hi kaz223,
This doesn't sound good, if you can email in her account details and your forum username I'll check the fault out on my end to see what's going on with it.
You can find our contact email address by clicking my username.
    Many thanks,

  • Setting up iTunes Account for Ten Year Old??

I have a 10 year old daughter with an iPod Touch, and we have just given her a completely re-vamped Windows XP laptop. I've downloaded iTunes for her, but have not installed it as yet. What I am wondering is if I can install iTunes for her under her own name so she can sync her music with her iPod, but at the same time restricting purchases?
I do not intend to give her carte blache access to iTunes in terms of allowing her to purchase music, but I would like to set it up so that my Wife and I can log in and purchase music for her from time to time.
    Thanks for your help.

You have to be over 13 to have your own account.
    http://www.apple.com/legal/itunes/ca/terms.html
However you can set up a separate library for her which she can sync her iPod to.

  • ID for 8 year old child.

How can i make an ID for my 8 year old daughter? I get an error on her date of birth.

You must be 13 or older to have an Apple ID. Put in your birthday instead of hers since you will be monitoring the account.

  • Help needed re i pod touch purchase for 10 year old

This is going to sound like a stupid question, but I need your help. I am purchasing an ipod touch for my 10 year old godson. Is the 8GB adequate for a 10 year old? I know the specs say it holds up to 1750 songs and up to 10,000 photos, but how many games does it hold? I assume that if you have more photos and songs, you have less capacity for games and videos. The 16GB is more expensive, so I'm leaning toward the 8GB, unless that memory just isn't sufficient. I know that he will want to download a lot of games. Any help you could provide to this neophyte would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi there -
I think there's one more thing to consider. As the parent of 4 (the youngest is 10), I'm very mindful of my children's access to the Web...which is possible with a Touch. While the idea of having games is the driving force right now, I can guarantee you that your godson (or his friends) will be able to figure out the ways to access the web with his Touch. I've watched these conversations go on with kids as young as 7 years old.
The suggestion about talking with his parents is a good one. I know I would not be pleased to find one of my kids having electronic paraphernalia that I hadn't given the okay to. One of our kids said, "But EVERYbody has one!" My response? "When your name is Everybody then you can have one too. You can't legally change your name until you're 18, so you'll just have to suffer under your parents' unfair rules." A lot of grumbling after that, but parenting isn't a popularity contest.
So, check with the parents, make sure that having web access is okay with them, and know what his history is with small games, electronic gadgets, and such. THen buy what you can afford, no necessarily what he wants. He'll live, I promise you! <g>

  • Is 8GB enough for ipod touch. Want to buy for 10 year old, Is 8GB enough for ipod touch. Want to buy for 10 year old

Want to buy I pod touch for a 10 year old.  Is 8 GB enough?

The 8 GB model only has a little over 6 GB available to the user.  Video take up a lot of storage space and the 4G iPod has a video comerai.  Some other users have postd that they wished that they have purchased the 32 GB model since ther are running out of room.  I purchased a 32 GB model.

  • Upgrade iBook G4 for 11 year old's use?

I am trying to determine whether it would be worth upgrading my old iBook G4 for my, very soon to be 11 year old son (5th grade).  Would appreciate comments and suggestions.  The iBook needs a new battery ($40.00).  It has 256 MB RAM (upgrading to 512 MB - $17.00, upgrading to 1GB - $30.00).  Currently running OS 10.3.9.  Could upgrade to 10.4 alternatively, to 10.4 then on to 10.5.  My son's interests are mainly sports (fantasy football - which I know little about), otherwise it would be used mainly for school work and some games (which again, I know little about, but they do not appear overly sophisticated, yet).  Welcome comments on browsers for these OS's (I have used Firefox for years), and other software (iWork?).  Thank you.

    Hello,
To a point, it doesn't matter which OS you choose to install on this iBook. If it will be OS X 10.4 (Tiger) or OS X 10.5 (leopard) They both come with very similiar problems.  They are out of date and don't cope all that well against modern computing. Indeed Mac OS X 10.5 leopard does handle a little better and from my personally experiences doesn't have many restrictions other than out of date Flash player and Java versions. It has some issues rendering web pages for some social web sites, like Facebook and Youtube is very glitchy on playing videos.
Don't let this deter you though. If your son is simply doing word processing, a bit of web browsing and maybe play 'Old' versions of games. Then this iBook could suite him well.
I currently use a PowerBook G4 running Mac OS X 10.5 and have adapted this laptop well for my own personal needs. It does everything I need it to do.
You will suffer from old versions of software, software this is no longer supported and very much out of date.
I doubt very much if new versions of football games are going to work at all well with this iBook.
I wouldn't install Mac OS X 10.4 and then 10.5. Just obtain a retail copy of Mac OS X 10.5 and do a fresh install. It's not going to be cheap to upgrade,as the DVD of Mac OS X 10.5 can be expensive.
With everything else you require to increase it's specifications could be an expensive option for an out of date unsupported computer.
If you wish to processed with upgrading this iBook, my strong suggestion is, buy secondhand parts where possible. There are some cheap good used parts on eBay that will save you lots of $$$
    I hope this has helped.

  • Zen touch for 15 year old boy - tips on precautio

My mom and I are going to go in for a zen touch for my brother - a 5 year old boy. Now he's about the average forgetful, neglectful, clumsy kind of boy. But he does value what he has. He has a cell phone which he pays for himself, and has used the same cd player for 2 years, but it recently broke (convenient it's around christmastime). Anyway, customer support suggested against engraving (like the ipod) because it's not metal and it's a harddri've. But what other precautions can we take to make it permanantly know this belongs to him? Can it be engraved?
I've already suggested he buy replacement headphones that aren't the notorious white earbuds so people can't tell, and keep it in it's incognito black case...any other suggestions?

dustball, I had another idea about this.
First off I have a question about the warrantee that maybe a Mode could comment on? So if Dustball takes the back casing off of the touch will that void the warrantee? I?m not sure because I know that on the older Zen there was a warrantee sticker on the hard dri've, but I was wondering if CL changed it.
So Dustball, if it turns out that taking the back casing off will not void the warrantee then you can take the back off, and get it engraved without risking damage to the player. And then put it back on, and no problems.

  • Yahoo App on Android for 12 Year Old

Just bought 12 year old son shiny new phone and have just installed the yahoo app so that he can read his emails. However, when I enter his details it says he needs to be over 13. Not sure why a 12 year old isn't able to have his emails on phone.
Is there any way around this, I've never keyed any kind of parental lock and can't presently find a way around this. Are there any override options, ie change his date of birth?

It's down to American laws.  They don't have the same data protection laws as in the EU, but they do have strict limits as to what data companies may gather on under 13's.  Since Yahoo is an American company, their response (like many other companies) is to refuse service to anyone under 13.
The usual solution is to lie about your age.

  • This is for 76 year old beginners.

I want to learn my Adobe Creative Suite CS5.5 Production Premium from the ground up. I need some very basic videos with not too many abbreviations explaining other abbreviations and very little technical jargon used in the explanations. On advice from a forum in Premiere Pro I clicked on the "Getting Started" video and got a window with the Error 404 that said "Sorry this page is not available". The "Chat" window appeared and asked if "Amajaj" could help? I explained I wanted to find the "Getting Started" video. He asked me again for my email and I gave it to him. He then asked for the serial number of my "Product" and I gave him the number above the bar code on my Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Production Premium box. He then asked if my product was a download version or a boxed version? I told him I was holding the box in my hand and nothing on the box said serial number or S/N: He gave me Adobe's 800 number and said they were there M-F but not on week ends. He asked if there was anything ELSE he could help me with? I said yes, help me locate the "Getting Started" video from "Learn". He didn't. I know I'm old, but I can still learn if you talk slow, and explain as you go. Can you help me find the beginner's class? Thanks.

At age 76 my mom would think of you as " a kid " since she is in her late 80's. A few years ago I helped her get started with using a computer ( she bought a pc .. the one that has a milk cow design on box -gateway ) . She had some issues with understanding some of the computer stuff ( filenames, folders, hard drive and ram and stuff like that ). I spent a lot of time with her explaining stuff and she almost always insisted on " writing down" what I was explaining. She thought she could refer to it later on and use it as a reference. This approach kept her active and having a good time with the computer ( mostly emails, some mystery games and word processing etc ).
The learning 'curve' of editing is pretty steep even with a good knowledge of computer " guts " .
My advice is to try and hook up with a person who can help you one on one.  Person to person. That would maybe be the fastest way to deal with the editing and associated tech stuff... as it really is a lot of stuff involved.  However, on a person to person level you would probably get everything down pat in a couple weeks... as long as you keep at it and make notes and approach it methodically.
I don't know where you live and what resources are near you but I would maybe look into speaking to people about helping on that level ...person to person... some would probably do it for free. I know some people here would help you till the cows come home as best they can, but because of the lag of time ( you ask question, you wait for answer ) it is not a fast process.
Some cities have film schools where they use premiere pro, avid, FCP, etc..and PC and MAC computers..and there are always students who know a lot willing to help people learn stuff... so that's another way to look at this ...do some research near home and see what's up at the local library, schools, etc... get some fast assistance one on one if you can. Would be faster.

  • How to create an Apple ID for 10 year old? and retrieve old contacts?

Hi, my daughter and I have just got our new iPhones but I can´t create and Apple ID för her so she can´t use the ICloud service. So I tried using the one I created for myself resulting in that all my contacts apeared in her phone. What should we do?
Apple how about letting parents confirm the Apple ID for their kid but it should be created with the kids name and birthday how difficult can it be? am I the first mum who bought and Iphone for my kid?
And by the way how do we get access to all the old contacts stored on the SIM card from our preIPhone time? I thought that everything just work with Apple but I am beginning to think that I should have choosen and Android... I mean changing brand of phone doesn´t exactly mean that you want to cut contact with all your old friends...are there a solution that I havn´t figured out?
Maybe someone could make an App that emulates a SonyEricsson or Nokia so that you can retrive your old data?

You can delete the iCloud account from her phone by going to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and choose Delete Account.  I believe you will get a prompt asking if you want to remove or keep the data on the phone; if you don't want your contacts on her phone choose delete.  As far as the contact on your old SIM card, if it is the same size as the iPhone SIM card you can put it in the iPhone and import the contacts (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4994).  If the SIM card won't fit, then you would need to either export the contacts to your computer using appropriate software, upload your contacts to a cloud service so you can download them to your computer, or in some cases take it and your iPhone to your retailer and ask them if they can do the transfer for you.  (It's also possible to cut a SIM card down to fit but it can be tricky to get it right.  There are articles on this if you search with Google.)  This video might help: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypZpYNpfa9E.

  • Looking for tablet for 5 year old daughter

I just got the Kindle fire and love it.  Only problem is my daughter does too.  I would like to get her a tablet that can play video(Max and Ruby) and games(sesame street.com).  Kindle has a great marketplace in terms of video and I am looking a tablet where I can either download videos or purchase them.  I would also like to keep it midrange in terms of price.  Any suggestions?

Check out the Leapfrog LeapPad and the Innotab (99.99 and 89.99).  Both are great for kids and have educational games your daughter will love!

  • Teststand message box larger font for 95 years old

    Hi
I am working with people > 90 yrs.
the message pop up window occupied on top of the screen.
How can I help them by changing the font and/or color of the message pop up.
the real estate of the screen is there.
message pop up dominates the screen, nothing else matters
Please allow me to change the font for seniors with strained eyes.

    Hi trout00
You have a couple different options for changing the font size of the message box. The first option is to change the native Windows message box settings. From Windows XP, right-click on your desktop and go to "Properties". Click on the "Appearance" tab in the Display Properties dialog box, and click on the "Advanced" button. In the Advanced Appearance dialog box, select "Message Box" from the "Item" drop-down menu. This will allow you to change the font of the message box text.
Your other option is to use a custom step type. This KnowledgeBase has more information on this option, including a link to an example program.

  • Disable radio on iPod for 10-year-old daughter?

My daughter listens to radio stations and songs I don't approve of. Even though they bleep out specific words on the radio, they still have lots of explicit content. I can regulate the songs she/we purchase and put onto the ipod but I can't control the radio. Is there a way to disable the radio on the ipod? I know it can be done in iTunes itself but that only controls the radio while on the computer. Thank you.

I can't find any restriction settings for the 5th Generation Nano. Only thing I know you could do would be to buy her a used 4th Generation Nano. It does not have a radio.
