Price policy Adobe

I'd love to know the reason Adobe makes the upgrade so bloody
expensive for non-US citizens.
Maybe Allen Partridge could shed some light? The past weeks I
read somwhere that it would be so resellers
could actually make a profit, but this upgrade is only
available as a download, so that doesn't fly!
And maybe Adobe could also officially post a webpage
explaining why some much needed changes (multiple undo for one) are
still not included in D11 and when the next update is scheduled? If
most of the changes are made under the hood it would be nice to
communicate that too, just so not too many more developers are
pissed of the following days and weeks.
Anyways, if anyone knows a way to buy the upgrade in dollars,
let us all know!

I don't know how true that is. I have not tested it myself
but know someone who has
and said it worked perfectly fine for him/

The above is a lot of #@%^$%. Adobe don't make serial numbers
locked to locations.
And I don't believe they would refuse support for a
legitimate copy of software.
Here's a local story for you. A few years back, Sony sued a
technician in Australia
for offering services to unlock playstations from playing
region specific DVDs and
games. Sony claimed he was breaking copyright rules by
allowing pirated software to
be played on the machines. Sony actually lost the case. The
judge said while the
use of pirated software on the unlocked machines is an
unfortunate situation, Sony
don't have the right to monopolize the local market and
charge higher prices than
those available from overseas or online, and it is unfair to
restrict legitimate
purchaces from those places. So, according to Australian law,
it is perfectly legal
to buy software or DVDs overseas and use them here, and any
company that attempts
to prevent this would be breaking our law. Anyway, just a
story. Not sure if this
is the case worldwide, but I was impressed with what
happened, which created a
precedeant for the future.

  • Price policy for Switzerland

About two years ago I bought my first copy of Adobe Photoshop CS4 and Adobe Lightroom 3.
Some monthes ago, the new version of Photoshop, the CS5, came out with a lot of improvements for a photographer as I am. After a lot of thoughts (convinced by all the good things I saw at kelbytraining.com), I decided to upgrade my CS4 to CS5 (but didn’t in the end).
What a surprise as I discovered the local price of the english upgrage at the Adobe store online.
As I'm living in Switzerland I have to buy at the Swiss Adobe store and the price of the upgrade is CHF 312 (USD 380) while it costs only USD 199 at the US Adobe store. About twice the price!!!
I cannot understand the difference. It is the same version (english), downloadable, no specific added value for Switzerland. And in fact I'm quite sure that the x MB to be downloaded file is located on the same server whether you buy in Switzerland or in the US.
Day after day, I defend the patent rights; I am always explaining friends that it is not fair to use hacked copy of softwares instead of buying them. That it is not only a matter of law but of respect for the work of the creators.
I am deeply disappointed by your price policy. It shows disrespect for the swiss customer I am and it is not correct.
Clearly I know that my words won't change anything in the price policy but I wanted to pass on my frustration.

You need to tell Adobe this. Do that on this page.
This forum is filled with users like you that have no individual control over pricing.
The only thing users can do to fight over-pricing is to stop paying the high price. But we've collectively been pretty unsuccessful at that.

  • Price policy of Apple in the Czech Republic

    Hi,
can anyone please send me an email contact to somebody in Apple who is responsible for managing European countries dealerships and controls (more or less) the price policy of those dealers? I just don't get it! On the three lists of countries by gross domestic product at purchasing power parity per capita which is found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_(PPP)_per_capita  you can clearly see, that USA is somewhere between 7th and 9th place of all countries with around 47000$. On the other hand, the Czech Republic is between 36 and 39 place with about 25000$. That's little more than half of the USA one. Can anyone tell me how it is possible that US citizen, who has nearly twice the purchasing power of the Czech citizen, can have:
New 2011 Mac Book Pro 13 for 1199$ while in Czech Rep. the very same model costs 1547$?  29% more
New 2011 Mac Book Pro 15 (2,4GHz quad-core i7) for 2199$ while in Czech Rep. the very same model costs 2772$  26% more
New 2011 Mac Book Pro 17 (2,4GHz quad-core i7) for 2499$ while in Czech Rep. the very same model costs 3216$  28% more
I would understand that the prices would be about the same. It's not possible to sell those Mac Books for 500$ in Congo just because its a poor country. But hey!!! 26-9% MORE expensive??? Come on!!! And please don't tell me that the cost MUST be higher because of the distribution or transportation. These are made in China so they must travel huge lengths anyway and I bet the cost to transport them to US is actually higher than to Europe. It's not the exchange rate problem because US dollar is much cheaper than it used to be several years ago. And I don't think it's a legislation problem of EU or Czech Rep. either because other brands like Acer, HP, Lenovo, Asus etc. with similar configuration are noticeably cheaper than Apple's stuff. I think that this has something to do either with Apple's European, or Central Europe price policy, or the dealers are simply out of Apple's control, they did a silent cartel and they are stuffing their own pockets. It's a shame when you consider how great the Apple products are and how affordable they can be for US citizens. Unfortunately not for the Czech ones. I think somebody at Apple should definitely do something about it. Please, let me know where can I officially send my complaints.
    Thanks
    Vit

    http://www.apple.com/asia/reseller/aar/ph-list.php
I don't see Wellcom listed on that page, so unless they exist under another name, it would appear that they are not authorized, though I don't know if that page is completely up to date.
I bought it with their promise that it comes with a real apple warranty.
You can check the status of the warranty by entering the serial number here:
    https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do
If the date of expiration is not one year from the date you purchased the iPod (give or take a day or two), then the reseller was not authorized and/or sold you a used iPod.
I was surprised to see that itouch 8gb is only selling at 9990
That sounds too good to be true, and when something seems too good to be true, it usually is.
I was shocked that it is the old itouch 4g w/o IOS5 . was I defrauded?
Either that or they had very old stock, which is certainly possible though unlikely for any authorized dealer.
is there any diff in price bet 4g w/o ios5 and w/ ios5?
Apple reduced the price on the iPod touch 8GB model back in October. And all new iPods come with iOS 5. An iPod touch with iOS 4 is old stock.
    Regards.

  • Price Policy

So on Wednesday December 18th I went on the VZW web site to order a new phone. I went with the MOTO X, which at the time was $99.99, I wanted to design my own, so i selected the ' Design Yours' link. This link forwarded me to the Motorola website, where I designed the Moto X that i wanted. When it came time to check out, I was asked which carrier the device was for, and i selected Verizon Wireless. My payment information was taken, a credit check was performed and then the order was submitted. I checked back on VZW website on the 19th of December and saw that the MOTO X was now on sale for $49.99. My phone was delivered on the 20th of December exactly how i ordered it, it was up in running in now time. The activation process was flawless.
On Tuesday December 24th I decided to enquire about the price policy that Verizon has, I first spoke to a representative via chat, who gave me the phone number to customer support 800 922 0204. The customer representative was very knowledgeable. I then called customer support to speak to a representative about the price policy. The representative informed me that because I made the purchase through BestBuy.com, there was nothing that could be done. I kept asking how BestBuy got involded in this whole process when I started the purchase on the VZW's website, and was redirected to Motorola's website. The representative assured me that Verizon does not redirect you to a 3rd party web site.
I've been a customer since '96 and I have never had any issues with their customer service, but today they had me boiling. So Verizon, can you help me out here?

Actually, Verizon will price match, but not if the purchase was through a third party.  Usually it has to be within 14 days of purchase, but the holiday extended timeframe applies:
Take some of the stress out of the holidays with our Extended holiday return policy & price protection guarantee
All device and accessory purchases made between 11/28/13 and 12/25/13 may be returned or exchanged through 1/15/14.
If you purchase a device or accessory from Verizon Wireless between 11/28/13 and 12/25/13 and we offer it at a lower price, we will match the lower price through 1/15/14. Depending on how you purchased your device or accessory, simply contact us as soon as you see the price difference in one of the following ways:
If you purchased online at VerizonWireless.com and we offer a lower price online, call 800-922-0204.
If you purchased in our store and the store is now offering a lower price, return to the store.
If you purchased from us over the phone and we offer a lower advertised price, call 800-922-0204.
All other provisions of Verizon Wireless' Return and Exchange Policy still apply.

  • Price policy for South African Cloud Membership

I own Creative Suite 5 Production Premium and have seen offers advertised where if you own a previous suite you can switch to cloud for $29.99. Living in South Africa i was not able to utilize this offer because the cloud was not available here until now.
My question now is do I still qualify for the special price and how do you subscribe to the cloud with the lower price. I get told the offer is not valid in your region when I try.

In Australia, we also pay higher prices for Adobe software - around the same increase as you're seeing at your end - about 25% higher. Think the Aus price is AU$62/month for CC and the Aus $ is stronger than the US.
Thanks Dean. Yes, that's what I'm paying. I'm in Australia too.
    Dean Utian wrote:
There has been a lot of discussion about this in avrious blogs, magazines. The official Adobe explanation is:
"Our pricing methodology takes into consideration the costs of doing business in different regions and customer research that assesses the value of the product in the local market. Conditions vary between markets and it’s difficult to make a straight comparison between countries."
    http://desktopmag.com.au/news/adobes-cs6-pricing-explanation/
It doesn't really explain things but suggests that Adobe creates a price they think will be accepted by the market.
I've seen these vague "explanations" trotted out online often.
They're often cut-and-pasted in this forum by Adobe Staff. Suggest the Staff don't have a better answer either - or they're not authorised to post one.
Problem is the "explanations" don't explain anything - especially the fact that the Cloud is digitally delivered so no transport or packaging costs, just bit and bytes and Gigabytes from an Adobe server located somewhere around the globe. Same product and service wherever you are.
As you say, Adobe charges what the market will bear. Some loathe it and won't pay the regional price differences on principle. The majority tolerates it in order to use the software.
Free market capitalism at its purest.

  • Price of Adobe lcds 3: ByBy Adobe LiveCycle Data Services 3 final

    Hi Adobe,
first of all I would like to mention, that I worked since April 2009 with lcds 3 day and night. I was really excited about the product.
We planned to set up a start up compay using lcds 3.
When the final version came out, I was completey shocked about the pricing policy:
The first CPU is no longer free, the 100 concurrent version is gone as well and the full licence at 18.500€ per CPU =(x1,5108=27.950 US $)!
As the data within our is very confidential, we have to set up a seperate server for a group, with for example 50 users.
That makes 27.950$/50=559$ per user. That is more then we planned to take for our complete product!
A cheaper hosting solution would not help, as there are very strict regulations in Europe especially for financial data where the server has to be located and who has access to it.
The whole situation remindes me at the 1980ties when Apple showed their first computers. What a wunderfull product! But the price in Europe was about 500-700% more expensive then a normal PC. With a bleeding heart I bought a PC with Microsoft on it. And guess what, about 12 computers and 25 years  later I am still using Windows!
I think its not enough to have a very good product to win the crowd. You have to understand the situation of your customers what is possible and what not. Ok Adobe, go with a startup company to a bank and ask for a loan for a single server with 4CPU=74.000€ =111.900$. Only for a licence for one server for the backend! The server is not paid with it.
The funny thing is, even if Adobe changes back the policy, I lost my confidence. I fear that Adobe would raise the price in the future.
I will give Adobe not a second chance to hit me like that, to take me out of the market before I even started!

  • 2012 RDS Group Policy - Adobe Reader and Acrobat to Co-exist

I have a 2012 RDS session host that 20 users terminal in to.We have always had Adobe Reader installed for users to open PDF files.10 of the users required Adobe Acrobat Pro, so we obtained a license for 10 users to access Acrobat Pro.We installed Acrobat Pro on the RDS session host, which also has Reader installed. The problem is, when a user opens a PDF file, it is opening with Acrobat Pro.I need to set the the default PDF program to Adobe Reader. I tried configuring a GPO per the article below:http://www.grouppolicy.biz/2011/09/how-to-use-group-policy-to-change-open-with-file-associations/However, the default is still Acrobat Pro.What is the best way to accomplish this task at hand?
This topic first appeared in the Spiceworks Community

Hey, what you have described is normal behaviour for the way you have written your Custom ADM file.
Because you are not using Proper Windows Policies, i.e. Setting them in the policy location in the registry, then once you apply a setting, it will not get over written again ever unless you made a group policy change or do a gpupdate.
Normal group policies will get re-applied depending on the time frame set in the policy its self.

I recently tried the Adone Flash CS3 program. I got along
with it great and decided that if the price was right I would but
    it.
I went to Adobe Shop Page and it had a tag which said $699 ,
not bad I thought, I buy it. To my surprise when I went to checkout
the price had been transferred to Euro ( I live in Greece) and was
now a whopping E845 or $1200+ !!! Why can I not buy this product at
the $ price or is Adobe penalising us for being Europeans. However
I tried I couldnt buy with the $ price. Does anybody know how I can
buy with $$$ or for what reason I cant.

I'm in Hong Kong. Same situation with software overpricing.
Adobe, Amazon and others will not ship overseas, but some US
retailers will. I got my CS3 suite from B&H Photo Video, a
truly excellent supplier in New York. I also buy audio and camera
accessories from them (yes, new York prices are often cheaper than
    Hong Kong!).
You'll probably have to pay VAT when it comes through

  • How do I set a price for adobe exchange add-ons?

I'm an adobe exchange developer and have an approved (unpublished) Photoshop product ready to go but I am unable to set the price to anything other than Free. I have linked my Fastspring account but the 'Free' remains greyed out. I can find absolutely no way to contact any product managers or administrators from Adobe via my exchange account (other than submitting reviewer notes on a new product submission) so I'm trying here. Any hints appreciated, including any better way for publishers to contact Adobe exchange administration. Thanks!

    Thank you Krystal,
I received the same instruction in an email today, here was my reply. I post it here in case it is helpful to others:
It's actually a bit trickier than that. You can't change the price once it's retracted so I had to publish, then change the price while it's live, then retract it. I can only hope or guess that it went through. There is no record of my changes being submitted and it doesn't show up anymore either under my products submitted nor published products, only the original free one in my 'retracted' tab in my account. I hope my change request has been received, I can't tell, nor do I know how I will know if it is received or approved but I think I submitted it.
It would be nice if this process was a bit clearer with the ability to 1) edit without publishing and 2) move edited products back into 'Not Published' until changes are approved 3) receive some kind of change request receipt
    Thanks!

  • I'm an American! Why can't I pay US prices for Adobe software upgrades?

I'm an American citizen living in Australia. My bank is in the US. My credit card is issued by an American bank. Why can't I update & download my Adobe products from Australia at US prices rather than having to pay twice the amount because I'm downloading the software via an Australian IP?

I'd try to have a telephone conversation with US sales.
I used to do what you want to with no problems, from the U.K. and Switzerland, over a period of more than ten years.
You want to be selecting the US web store.
Sales should be able to help you -- the US credit card bank account would be the key.
It should have a US address on it, which takes care of that part of things. You download to wherever you are.
    Good fortune.

  • LOWEST Prices for Adobe Suites

Students and Employees at Washington State University have long been able to download some Microsoft programs for free (I have Win7 64bit waiting until I buy new hardware) and others at a really low cost ($53 for MS Office 2007 Enterprise)
Now (Sept 2009) WSU has added Adobe to the "company store" with HUGE discounts... so if you are near any WSU campus, take a 1 credit course... then once you have a WSU login ID, you can go to the store and make a purchase
I plan to wait until CS5 is out... and will then visit the company store... link below so you can look, but you of course can't log in to purchase if you don't have a WSU login ID
    http://e5.onthehub.com/WebStore/ProductsByMajorVersionList.aspx?ws=bc66e4b5-4af4-dc11-89b0 -0030485a6b08&vsro=8&JSEnabled=1
Adobe Creative Suite Master Collection CS4
    $2499 at the Adobe store
    $2199 at http://www.amazon.com/
    $998 at http://www.studica.com - a non-affiliated education store
$536 at the Washington State University "affiliated" store
    Other suites have similar discounts
    $330/$1799 Creative Suite Design Premium
    $330/$1699 Creative Suite Production Premium
    $280/$1699 Creative Suite Web Premium
If you aren't in the NW, ask about special buys at a College/University in your area... this is NOT at a Bookstore, which will have prices similar to Studica, this would only be where the College/University itself has a special agreement with Adobe or Microsoft
As far as I know (from previous discussions in various Adobe forums) the ONLY restriction on this software is that you have to prove you are student or employee to be able to buy the product... you may DO anything you want with the software once you have it... but, to be sure, you might want to search at Adobe to verify that you may do "commercial" work with an Education version

    WSU Extension Programs http://ext.wsu.edu/overview.html
I do not know if joining at the above link will give a WSU login ID (I'm not in the teaching side of WSU) but you might take a look, if you don't have a College or University in your area that has a buying deal with Adobe or Microsoft
Once CS5 is out, presuming the Suites will have similar prices to CS4, I'm going to buy one of the Suites when I build an i7 computer for Win7 64bit
I hope CS5 is rewritten/recompiled to be 64bit... but at the very least, I will "count on" CS5 working with Win7... and running Win7 64bit, even if CS5 is still 32bit, will allow me to have PPro/Encore open at the same time, each in its own memory space

  • Nokia's price policy of the N900

Folks, in my mind the N900 is *far* too expensive. No doubt, developing such a device may swallow millions, but, for 500 Euros I get a 15" laptop or a netbook with a UMTS stick and flatrate, whereas Nokia offers a telephone with a small 3,5" display.... Being a Linux enthusiast myself I really love the idea of Maemo, but at such a high price? I really wonder whether it is not better to buy a laptop, put openSUSE Linux on it and a UMTS stick, more software, more possibilities, more apps. What would you guys say would be a reasonable price? In my mind between 350 and 400 Euros, 400 being the pain barrier.

    couple of points here:
    1.  when they announced the release of the N900 they immediately dropped the price of the N97 to not be above it.
    2. i dont think that the $600+ dollars in US is a big deal...but here is why
    for the general user/parent/advanced user
    you get a decent camera - $200
you get a decent video recorder - $200
you get a decent audio recorder - $100
you get a decent video player - $100
    you get a great pda - $150
you get a phone - $Free with activation but lets say $100
    you get your sms/mms
you get your social networks integrated - need a laptop for $300
    you get your mp3 player - $50
you get your full internet experience - use the laptop
you get your email - use the laptop
you get your office products (full versions will come for sure ie-word/excel/ppt) - use the laptop
you get your gaming (both new and nastalgae/emulators) - cost of psp/DS/etc with other limitations
you get your instant messangers - use the laptop
you get your gps and navigation - $200
    the list can still grow.
that alone is just $1400 not including the multiple cases and accessories for each, or the bulk you would have to lug around and it is all fairly instant, in the palm of your hand and fits in your pocket.
$600 doesnt sound so bad when you actually use them...actually, it's quite a deal...oh, and free software!
if you like this, kudo it!
