Price policy for South African Cloud Membership

I own Creative Suite 5 Production Premium and have seen offers advertised where if you own a previous suite you can switch to cloud for $29.99. Living in South Africa i was not able to utilize this offer because the cloud was not available here until now.
My question now is do I still qualify for the special price and how do you subscribe to the cloud with the lower price. I get told the offer is not valid in your region when I try.

It doesn't really explain things but suggests that Adobe creates a price they think will be accepted by the market.
I've seen these vague "explanations" trotted out online often.
They're often cut-and-pasted in this forum by Adobe Staff. Suggest the Staff don't have a better answer either - or they're not authorised to post one.
Problem is the "explanations" don't explain anything - especially the fact that the Cloud is digitally delivered so no transport or packaging costs, just bit and bytes and Gigabytes from an Adobe server located somewhere around the globe. Same product and service wherever you are.
As you say, Adobe charges what the market will bear. Some loathe it and won't pay the regional price differences on principle. The majority tolerates it in order to use the software.
Free market capitalism at its purest.

    If not available in the South Afraican store, you can't. You can only use a country store where you have a verified billing address located in the country & you are physically located in the country.

    What it says. I have the full cloud membership, but in the Creative Cloud app/control panel, some programs show a "Try" button instead of "Install."  Is this a glitch and will I have the full versions of all of these apps like I am paying for?

  • Price policy for Switzerland

    About two years ago I bought my first copy of Adobe Photoshop CS4 and Adobe Lightroom 3.
    Some monthes ago, the new version of Photoshop, the CS5, came out with a lot of improvements for a photographer as I am. After a lot of thoughts (convinced by all the good things I saw at kelbytraining.com), I decided to upgrade my CS4 to CS5 (but didn’t in the end).
    What a surprise as I discovered the local price of the english upgrage at the Adobe store online.
    As I'm living in Switzerland I have to buy at the Swiss Adobe store and the price of the upgrade is CHF 312 (USD 380) while it costs only USD 199 at the US Adobe store. About twice the price!!!
    I cannot understand the difference. It is the same version (english), downloadable, no specific added value for Switzerland. And in fact I'm quite sure that the x MB to be downloaded file is located on the same server whether you buy in Switzerland or in the US.
    Day after day, I defend the patent rights; I am always explaining friends that it is not fair to use hacked copy of softwares instead of buying them. That it is not only a matter of law but of respect for the work of the creators.
    I am deeply disappointed by your price policy. It shows disrespect for the swiss customer I am and it is not correct.
    Clearly I know that my words won't change anything in the price policy but I wanted to pass on my frustration.

    You need to tell Adobe this. Do that on this page.
    This forum is filled with users like you that have no individual control over pricing.
    The only thing users can do to fight over-pricing is to stop paying the high price. But we've collectively been pretty unsuccessful at that.

  • Blackberry Application World for South African USE - What a nightmare and a mess!!!

    I am seriously thinking of leaving blackberry with their crappy support service - Since I have updated my blackberry application world about 2 months ago, I have not been able to access any new application updates etc. Somethimes my phone auto-reboots itself, and then starts up with the Blackberry login page....you logg in and it keeps rejecting your password even though it IS correct. I went and tried resetting my password on the website 2 times already and still no luck.
    All Vodacom's support services keep welling me in South Africa is "There is a problem with Blackberry application world" they will send a fix for it in about 3 weeks.... And every time I call 3 weeks later the message is "3 weeks"
    CAN ANYONE HELP AS BLACKBERRY DOES NOT SEEM TO PROVIDE SERVICE PAST THE SALE OF THEIR HANDSETS!!! Unless you keep paying and paying......

    I get the same error I think. When I go in to app world I get the following message: an update of blackberry identity is required before you can use app world.
    Then I say yes to start the update, but I've gotten the following error since I bought my phone: blackberry identity installation failed. Please try again later (80003)
    This has been going on for four months now and I've never gotten further than the log in page. $

There are games in the appstore when you just randomly search, but why is there no Games Category???     There is no final total cost. It is subscription software.
    If you want use the software, you keep paying your monthly fee.
    When you stop paying, the software stops working.

    I didn't recieve the CS6 id, and the Chat Man said it doesn't exist for my account. He thought I got duped. When I sent him the link to the dates of purchase allowing for the upgrade he said this was only applicable if I was given the second order number for CS6. Therefore I was not going to get the upgrade. So I finally got someone on the phone, Maria, although she was in tech support, because sales was not avilable, she hunted down the challenge in about a half hour and got me an order id. But if you are stuck in the loop trying to find accountability at Adobe. Just keep calling until you get Maria :O) she fixed it! But customer service at Adobe is a lot like Apple, where you first gotta find the number and then sit through a lot of irrelevent content and be transfered around before your call is dropped and then hopefully on the third, fouth try, you can hopefully find somebody who got the memo and will stay with you till the challenge is resolved.   • Why is South African Educator Discount almost non-existent?

    I want to upgrade to Adobe Creative Cloud from the Photoshop subscription of $9.99 p.m. 
    However, since I am in South Africa, paying $49.99 p.m. (excluding 14% value added tax) is not affordable. Since I work at a university, I hoped to make use of the educators discount. Many of my colleagues purchased CS5 & 6 this way and received around 50% discount. Having the ability to install the software on personal computers instead of work computers is a major advantage, because work pcs often don't have enough graphics processing power - that is why we purchase this software for ourselves instead of through our employer, even though we still use it for work.   I also noted that the educators discount in the US and EU is 60% and in New Zealand it is 70%!
    Full of hope, I contact Adobe Sales (after having a very strange conversation with a non-English speaking person on Adobe Chat) and a very polite British guy gives me the contact details for a local (South African) reseller, as apparently Adobe does not handle educator discounts for South Africans directly.
    So guess how much of a discount I received from the reseller? A measly 19%. When I queried the amount quoted, the reseller told me that the price is provided by Adobe and they cannot change it.
    I guess something is better than nothing, but this discount does not come close to placing this product in the affordable range.
    My complaint is this: Why is the South African education discount so much worse than other countries? Please Adobe, I would just like a reasonable answer to this. If you tell me it is because of fraud or high taxes or whatever, I will be happy, but please at least provide South Africans with a reason for the differential treatment.

  • Is there a way to open Illustrator, without being prompted and seemingly forced to purchase monthly cloud membership?

    I purchased the full version of CS6 and now suddenly get prompted to sign up for creative cloud membership.  I am not able to open Illustrator without choosing (and paying for presumably) a cloud membership.  I only want access to the program which I purchased and own outright.  Is there someway of bypassing the signup to cloud membership?  I'm able to open PS CS6 currently without difficulty but not Illustrator. It seems unfair to pay high $ for a product about a year ago and suddenly not be able to even open the program without shelling out a monthly fee. Thanks for any help.

    The issue has been up here before.
    From what I (fail to) remember, I am unsure whether it is possible to avoid its occurrence.
    If no one here is able to offer a definite answer, I will alert one of our forum staff friends who will hopefully be able to alert the right one to deal with it.

  • Two Creative Cloud membership  on one Adobe ID?

    I've been paying for two Creative Cloud memberships on one Adone ID, thinking this is what I needed to be able to use the products on 4 different computers. I finally got around to trying to install the software on a 3rd computer and it wouldn't let me. I see there is a post about two memberships on a single ID not being the correct way to do it. I've had the two memberships for a few years now (since Dec 19, 2011), is a refund possible?

  • I cancelled my annual cloud membership today but I'm still being charged in full.

    I cancelled my annual cloud membership today with one month remaining. The service agent told me that he would cancel my membership and I would be charged half for the remaining month. I received an email stating "Since we were unable to bill the payment method on file, your subscription to Creative Cloud has expired and we have deactivated the paid features on your account. If you did not intend to cancel and wish to reactivate your subscription, please update your billing information".  but a few hours later received another email saying that "We received your payment for your Creative Cloud Membership (one-year)" the payment was for my regular monthly charge that I get every month. How c an I be sure that I am cancelled.
