Pricing of configurable material
Hi experts,
I want some help for following scenario.
Suppose I have one Configurable material as "A".
For which I require 10 multilevel items for manufacturing.
Each 10 multilevel items have 20 characteristics.
If I want to calculate price of my finish product "A"
by using different combination of multilevels and characteristics how would I maintain it in SAP.
I know I have to create Configurable material.
Some SuperBOM and maintain classification for this materil.
But where I get Price for these permitations and combinations for "A".
What are the configurations?
If any one have any document related to this scenario please mail me on [email protected]
regards,
rb.
In Std SAP Configurable Material (KMAT type) is pure MTO and you cannot maintain any Standard price for it.
Depending on the Customer order(Sales Order) System will dynamically calculate the Price of product and all cost will be charged to that Sales Order.

Option based pricing / configurable material pricing
We have a unique requirement to map pricing variants for a capital item , which is a configurable material.
I need higly expert advice on this.
I created a configurable material (ERSA, specifically) in basic data 2 i have selected check box configurable material.
I also have few characteristic for this material.
I created a vendor and assigned a same class as assigned to material.
Then i did CU41 for this material, create configuration profile. ( I am not quite sure what all needs to be done her )
We expect when i create a OA / PO i should be able to select certian set of classification and this should basicaly determine my price.
In contract there exist for a configurable material, variant button and condition button.
But this is not active??
Kindly give your expert advice on this.
Thanks,

Make to Order for Configurable Material & Error in Confirmation
Hello, PP Gurus,
I am doing one MTO for Fabric business but during the confirmation I am getting error that
SALES order Stock does not Exist as well Please inform me Costing procedure in this scenario.
*is it necessary to run MRP in this scenario?*
Please see the all Details of Business so that U can give answer properly.
One is raw fabric (Raw material) which has to passed different process to convert Colored fabric as my Finish product as well I can sale Raw fabric also.
is it possible to maintain raw fabric and Colored fabric with same mat.code?
I have configured the material as well all pricing BOM, Recipe its working properly.
How can I assign the material to Operation? I am getting GRAY field in New Assignment in change recipe mode ..
Is it possible to use Material type other than KMAT? I want to use Finish material type. If yes How?
Right now I can create Process order from the Sales order but I am facing error in confirmation that Sales Order stock does not exist than I have to transfered stock to Sales order and error get solved temporarily but I want to avoid this manual transaction to remove this error. How can I do ? please suggest any changes
I have only 9 months of SAP experience within short time I have gain lot knowledge from this site and other reading material as well my learning Learning thirst.
thanks to all SAP gurus..
THANKS IN ADVANCE .... Definitely I will reward points even if my some questions get solved...
Regards,
Bhavik dangi.Hi,
You can use variant configuration for selling the colored fabric. Use the basic fabric as raw. and maintain variant configuarations to have many variants.
Please use strategy 25. When you run MRP the planned orders will be generated and will be assigned to the sales orders. You can see it on the account assignment tab.
In material master pleasse maintain Individual collective requirement indicator to 1-individual in the MRP-4 view.
Then the stocks will be reserved to the specific sales orders.
Thanks and regards

Incompletion Log for Configurable Material
Hi,
The client wants to restrict the creation of sales order whenever a configurable material does not result in a material variant.
Is it posible to meet this requirement by standard SAP config in Incopletion Procedure or Status Profile?
Please advice.
Thanks
SindujaMake the item category that you are using for the Configurable Material as 'Not relevant for Pricing'
Then in your Sales order Header Incompletion procedure, add VBAK-NETWR field.
Now the order has to have a net value which is possible only if you have a material variant that would be relevant for pricing. -

what is the use of "selection condition" & "procedure" in Dependacy(transaction-CU01) of variant configurable material.
there are 4 types of dependencies:
1) selection
2) action
3)Procedure
4) precondition
1) Selection:
If a user select a particular characteristic value, then only the particular character is displayed
You can use selection conditions to ensure that all the objects relevant to a variant are selected:
Selection conditions determine which variants require a specific component or operation
Selection conditions determine when it is mandatory to assign a value to a characteristic
You can allocate selection conditions to the following objects:
Characteristics
BOM items
Operations in task lists
Sub-operations , seq. of operations, production resources/tools
Example: Selection Condition for a Characteristic
Requirement: For 3000cc engine, we must have to choose any color (mandatory) i.e. RED, WHITE etc.
Procedure
1. Create a Selection Condition
2. This Selection Condition has the following source code:
M_ZEN_ENG EQ 3000
3. Allocate the selection condition to characteristic M_ZEN_COL
Result
If you enter value 3000CC' for characteristic M_ZEN_ENG when you configure material M_CAR, you fulfill conditions:
The selection condition makes you assign a value to the characteristic.
If you do not assign a value to characteristic M_ZEN_COL, you automatically see the characteristic when you exit the configuration editor, so that you can assign a value.
You can only leave the configuration editor if you do one of the following:
Assign a value to the characteristic
Change the status of the configuration
Result: If u have not assign any value in the colour field, the system will not proceed further.
procedure:
Procedures are used to infer values for characteristic
You can assign procedures to the following objects:
The characteristic value that triggers the procedure
The characteristic that triggers the procedure
The configuration profile of the configurable object
Use
If you use a procedure to infer a value for a characteristic, you enter the variable $SELF before the characteristic.
The formula will be $self.M-zen_red = 'X'
Now pricing condition record at vk11 is maintained fro the variant X, not to the M-zen_red
Procedures can overwrite values that are set by other procedures.
Procedures are always used for pricing
I have here ecxplained the only two type of dependencies. If u need further clarifications, please post.
Hope it clears ur doubt.
Reward points if it is useful

Creation of Sale Order for configurable material with availability check.
Hi,
We have a scenario in which the material is configurable. The configurable material (X) has few variants (Ex: X1, X2, X3, X4, X5). While booking the sale order, we use the material number (X).
Further, the material planning is done for the variants X1, X2, X3, X4, X5. The standard variants are planned for production in advance.
1. While booking the sale order, we want the availability check of the stock (type matching to happen). What needs to be done in configuration?
2. While booking the sale order, there is a possibility that the configuration selected will not match with any of the standard variants due to some additional requirements of the optional features, in such cases how to link the standard variants to the sale order & create requirement for additional requirements.
Regards,
UmeshHi Umesh,
1.Create material master for configurable material and variants in mm01.
2.Maintain BOM for the configurable material in CS01
3. Configur the variant configuration steps
a. Create charecteristics T.code CT04
b. Create values and assign classes
c. assign the values to charecteristics
d . Maitain dependence T.code CU01
e.create configuration profile t.code CU41
f.stimulate the configuration profile.
4. Do the availability check configuration through this path
IMG --> Sales and distribution > Basic functions ,> Availabilty check and Transfer of requirements.
5. Maintain the Availbility check field and MRP views in the material masters other wise you sit with PP people and do that
I hope it will help you

Issue in consumption of forecast for configurable material
Hi,
we have a issue in consumption of forecast by sales order for a configurable material.
Please find the below details for the settings maintained and the steps followed.
Please let me know how we can overcome this issue.
settings in R/3
1. Class and characterisitcs are created in R/3
2. standard material was created and class assigned
3. planning strategy used is 56
4. material, class, characteristics,ATP check, ATP customizing , sales order were integrated to APO
Settings in APO
1. CBF table, CBF profile, Consumption group were created in APO
2. Consumption group is attached to the product master
following steps were followed.
1. Forecast was created in DP for a certain characterstics ansd relaesed to SNP/PPDS
2. forcast is visible in product view
3. sales order was created in R/3
4. slaes order is visible in APO but it is not consuming the foreacast for the same set of characteristics.
Please let me know how we can overcome this..are we missing any customization ...?
Thanks
RamHi Srinivas,
thanks for your response.
The forecast consumption problem was solved after correcting the entries in requirement strategy.
have one more query.
when the sales order for a configurable material is transferred from R/3 to APO, we should be able to see the values under "descriptive characteristics tab" in APO product view.(when we click on the green triangle representing the configuration).
However, we could see the values under "descriptive characteristics tab" for some of the characterisitcs and not for other characteristics.
we tried comparing the characteristics but could not figure out the reason.
any pointers / clues to come over this issue would be helpful.
thanks

Dear All,
I want to create configurable material for the purpose of variant configuration. When trying to create configurable material using mm 01 or mm k1, it is displaying an error message that internal number assignment is not possible for the material type configurable materials as well in using external number also. Can anyone specify the steps to be done in creating the configurable material. Thank you all.
Regards
Akula Sivaji Kumar Madhu KiranIf you want to set these material type to another group (Which has a internal number and external number range), then you can do it.
In MMNR, Click on the Edit Group.
Then select the material type and click select element.
Then mark a tick option in another group and then press Element/Group.
Then you can see the material type will come under this group.
Now save your entry, and create a material with this material type. -

Configurable material in scheduling agreement
When I use DS scheduling agreement with LPN as item category with configurable material, I cannot input value for configuration. But if I use normal TAN instead of LPN, I can input value for configuration.
Why?
Does SAP do not allow configurable material in scheduling agreement or quantity contract?
Thanks in advance for any suggestion.Deat Amy,
Please check the item category settings related to configuration through VOV7 transaction.
Go to VOV7 transaction then select item category LPN then go in to the detain here you check the configuration related settings under Bill Of Material /Configuration tab.
If want you refer the standard Config.at Mat.Levl itemcategory TAC settings, same way you can do settings for your item category then try.
Note:- Not advaisable to change the standard one, so you copy the standard itemcategories do the changes,
I hope this will help you,
Regards,
Murali.

Material variant replacement in sales order for Configurable Material
HI
I am using variant configuration. In this i have created material A as configurable material and have Preconfigured Material B as its variant by assigning configurable material in MRP 3 view.
Now when i am creating Order for material A i.e. Configurable material and the characteristics values are same as that of Preconfigured material system is not replacing Configurable material with Preconfigured material.
Please help me out.
Regards,
Anand.Even after maintaining the item category MTAC(Mills Make to order config at mat level), the configurable material is not getting replaced in the sales order (va02). It is just showing material variant exists for the configurable material.
The setting in item category for configuration is.
Config. Strategy 01(Sales Order Strategy (TAC, TAM))
Mat. Variant Action 4 (Replace configurable material (Append and change))
ATP material variant 2 (Do not substitute if not completely available)
Structure scope D (Configuration, poss. with BOM explosion)
I have maintained the stock for material variant as well to take care of ATP material varinat setting shown above.
Please suggest if missing something. -

Create a configurable material with reference to another config material
Hi,
I want to create a configurable material with reference to another configurable material from different system.
Please tell me what data i need to check to see if that material has been created (copied manually) successfully.
Thanks.Hi,
In case of configurable material most important thing is configuration so please check weather the configuration is copied perfectly with all characteristics or not. Similarly check the valuation class and price control is proper or not.

Umesh
