Pricing of Keynote for Mac

Hello there!
I have been using the Mac mini (late 2012 model) for a year or so, and after upgrading to OS X Yosemite, I am really enjoying the performance and everything. One thing that I fail to understand is the pricing of Keynote for Mac. At the October 16th event, it was mentioned that the iWork Suite of Apps would go free for Mac users from that day onwards. However, after about 4 days, the Mac App Store still says "9.99$" for Numbers, Pages and Keynote.
It most certainly must be a misunderstanding on my side, but it would be of great help if somebody can help me out with this.
Cheers!

After many hours of dealing with the same problem I was able to find a fix that worked for a client of mine. Make sure your Mac has a name.
Apple menu (top left corner)
System Preferences
Sharing (third row)
Make sure that you have something filled in for the computer name. Normal convention is Jon's MacBook Air or somethign similar.
Close the window (there is no save button)
Try linking your device again.

  • Is Keynote iso compatible with keynote for Mac?

Is Keynote iso compatible with keynote for Mac? Can I run a presentation on my ipad that was created on my Mac? And can I make changes on my ipad to a presentation that was first created on my Mac?

Keynote files created on one platform can be played and edited on the other, but there are many incompatibilities.

  • Why are the themes in Keynote for Mac and iOS still so different?

    Hi guys,
I love Keynote for Mac and I would love to love Keynote for iPad, but as you all know there are many shortcomings. One thing I just can't grasp why Apple still makes the basic themes so different between the two platforms. For the last years I always used Gradient theme on the Mac for my presentations. Whenever I want to play a presentation on the iPad I get the usual warnings (although I basically never use anything fancy in my presentations). Obviosly this is annoying, but what I don't get at all:
    1. Why do they use as a standard for the same theme different fonts and font sizes (Gill Sans 42pt on Mac vs. Helvetica 38 pt on iPad)
    2. Why does Keynote has a inconsistent behaviour between Mac and iPad in the most simple functions??
         - When I add a few bullet points on the Mac the font size is not changed but you get an indicator (plus sign) at the bottom of your text box to tell you that you ran out of space
         - When I do the same on the iPad the font size gets adjusted automatically to fit in the text box.
I am not expecting that every little fancy things translates perfectly between Mac and iPad but that those most simple things are inconsistent is very irritating.
Well, that actually feels better now that is off my chest
What do you guys think about that??

  • Can't buy Keynote for Mac using iTunes gift card

    Hello there fellas.
I have an iTunes account with $21,20 credit that I got from a gift card.
For a couple days now I've been trying to buy the Keynote for Mac with no sucess.
After clicking the buy option at the App Store it opens a window to check my billing info, even thou my account has no credit card information. I confirm everything without entering any credit card info and it asks me again for my password. As I enter the password it asks for the billing info again and I can't buy the app at the end.
Have this happened to anyone else? What am I doing wrong here?
    Why I can't buy a $19 app when I have $21 as credit?

this is not the first app I bought, and all the past ones didn't have any hidden fees or taxes applied after the purchase
Taxes and fees are not applied AFTER the purchase. They are included in the total price.
They are not "hidden"...  refer to the terms and conditions link I posted previously.
Pages is $19.99 at the U.S. app store.
You need to consider whatever the tax rate may be for the state you live in, add that to the $19.99.
but can not get it using my prepaid credit.
    There's not sufficent funds available.

  • Is there any laser pointer tool in keynote for mac?

Is there any laser pointer tool in keynote for mac?

No there is not such a function built in to Keynote.
There are many in the Mac App Store, search for mouse pointer.

  • Laser pointer on Keynote for Mac

Does Keynote for Mac have this iOS style of laser pointer? I haven't found it, there are no information of iOS pointer either.

There is no laser style pointer built into Keynote, there are 3rd party applications that do this, Mouspose' is in the Apple Mac Store.

  • Need to purchase Keynotes for Mac

I launched my App Store application, but all it does is "Checking for updates" and then "No updates available" and that's it, the application is disfunctional from there, none of the buttons on the top are responding...
I'm trying to purchase Keynotes for Macintosh but it's only available for the iPhone and iPad, nowhere can I find it for the Macintosh... I got to the Keynotes application offered on Apple's website, I clicked on the blue button called "View in Mac App Store" on the top left, above the price...then again, was directed to the same "dead" App Store window...
    What's the deal here?....

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Compatible with Keynote for Mac?

Can files made with keynote be transferred back and forth between a Mac and edited on both?
    thanks.

As the other poster points out, Keynote for iPad lacks some of the Mac features.  But as to the features they do share, transfer back and forth is quite nice. Some users I know use the iPad to start a rough draft of a presentation, polishing it on their Mac.  I recently created a presentation on the iPad (first generation) and presented it (with the VGA adapter) at a conference. I was sure I would need to move it to my Mac at some point, but for the builds and transitions I wanted, Keynote for iPad had all the features I needed.  Later I viewed it on my Mac and it looked and worked fine.

  • Keynote for Mac OS X

I´d like to download keynote to my iMac (Mac OS X, version 10.7.5), but when I go to Appstore it says I need a newer version… Might there be an older version of Keynote I could buy? Help me please

The App store only carries the latest version of iWorks software.  This is the version that runs under Mavericks.  With OSX 10.7.5 you will want iWorks 09.  I suggest you look at e-bay or Amazon, there are always copies available.  You have the same 'vintage' iMac as me, so you have a built in drive for installation.

  • Good, reasonably priced USB Sticks for Mac?

    Hello,
can somebody help me out here please? I am in need of a USB Stick to transfer my important web-development data from my Mac Mini here (in Austria) to my father's Mac Book Pro in Scotland. The problem is that my local Apple retailer can only offer me some 4GB USB Stick for a hundred euro.
I'm probably going to have to buy one such device online, but which? I want one, that works well with Mac, and should probably function well with Windows too. Since there are so many sites to purchase hardware like that at varying prices, there is no real way to talk to someone who can show me what's best for me, as I would in the Apple store.
A hundred euro for 4GB is a little too much for my budget, so hopefully one of you has the overview needed to know which brand or even exact device would suit me best.
    -Thanks-

If 4Gb is sufficient for your needs and you can't source an I/O Magic gigabank, then you might consider the 4Gb Lexar JumpDrive Firefly - it certainly works with Macs and PCs, and while it's not particularly fast for writing, read performance is pretty good, and it's very durable.
It can also be bought in the UK from Dell - http://accessories.euro.dell.com/sna/products/USBMemoryKeys/productdetail.aspx?c=uk&l=en&s=dhs&cs=ukdhs1&sku=390-10038#Overview
There's also an 8gb own-brand device at Dabs (http://www.dabs.com/ProductView.aspx?Quicklinx=4F59&CategorySelectedId=11152&Pag eMode=1&NavigationKey=11152,4294955928&InMerch=1) which claims mixed PC/Mac compatibility - and based on my experience of that supplier, I would be prepared to believe them.

  • Keynote for iOS file size: inserting photos from Mac first or from iPad?

    Hi!
This one is for people with advanced and extensive knowledge of Keynote for Mac and for iOS:
Does inserting pictures in Keynote for iOS from the Photos app result in a leaner file size than importing the Keynote file with pictures already inserted from the Keynote for Mac app?

    Hey Timmy,
I use Dropbox to get my photos to/from my iPad to my computer wirelessly (no iTunes). The process below is one I posted a few weeks ago for the opposite process than what you're wanting to do (from iPad to computer) but Dropbox will work both ways. Just set up a Dropbox folder on your computer and set up the Dropbox app on your iPad and they will both be in sync automatically.
    Hope this helps!
    ~Joe
---from a post I did a few weeks ago---
The Dropbox app has a very cool auto-upload process that will automatically upload photos from the iPad Camera Roll to Dropbox.
First sign up for a free Dropbox account from your computer.
Then, download the free Dropbox app on your iPad.
Log in to the Dropbox app on the iPad with your new account and click on the Photos icon in the lower left corner of the screen (second one from the left).
Select "Enable Camera Upload" and "Only Wi-Fi." The upload process will begin for all existing photos in the Camera Roll.
From now on, all future photos taken by the iPad will automatically upload to the Dropbox folder. You can then download your photos from Dropbox to your computer by going to http://www.dropbox.com, logging in to your account, and downloading the photos. You can then put the photos on a USB drive or burn to a CD or upload them to a photo processing website.
    Hope this helps!
    ~Joe
