Primavera P6 v6.2.1 apply service pack 3 without dba privilege

Hi,
I have a Primavera P6 Project Management v6.2.1 database and admuser has no dba rights. It has only the privileges like connect, resource, select any dictionary, create job only. I tried to apply service pack 3 but it failed since it has no dba rights for admuser.
Admuser don't have dba rights or create any view, create any synonym privileges also.
If anyone applied service pack 3 on primavera p6 v 6.2.1 database schema by using manually running scripts. Please update me.
Regards,
Gokulnath

You need to involve your DBA in this. The only supported method of upgrading is going to be to grant admuser the appropriate role/permissions required which you will need Sytem access to do.
It doesn't make sense to try and circumvent this when it is as simple as "GRANT DBA to admuser", run the SP3 update, and "REVOKE DBA FROM admuser". Additionally you likely need to apply the SP3 client update to all users of that database (not sure exactly what SP3 entails as I have never installed it).

  • How to apply service pack in always on?

    Hi Team,
in my environment we have always on. our management person asked me about the document service pack installation steps and pros and cons.
could you please guide me on this
    thanks in advance
    vijay

    Hi vijay,
Do you want to apply Services Packs on SQL Server instances with AlwaysON Availability Group databases? If that is the case, the exact process will depend on factors such as the deployment topology of your availability groups and the commit mode of each replica.
But in the simplest scenario, the process involves the following steps:
    1. Remove automatic failover on all synchronous-commit replicas.
    2. Apply Services Pack on all remote server instances running asynchronous-commit secondary replicas.
    3. Apply Services Pack on all local server instances that are not currently running the primary replica.
    4. Manually fail over the availability group to a synchronous-commit secondary replica.
    5. Apply Services Pack on the server instance that formerly hosted the primary replica.
    6. Configure automatic failover partners as desired.
And some best practices should be observed before performing server updates in order to minimize downtime and data loss for your availability groups, for example, Backup all the System and user databases. For more information, please review this article:
Upgrade and Update of Availability Group Servers with Minimal Downtime and Data Loss.

  • Stopping sql server services while applying Service pack On SQL server 2008 and 2008 R2

    Hi,
I am planning to apply service pack 3 for SQL 2008 R2 and Service pack 4 for SQL server 2008. This is my first time and I am applying first QA and DEV environment. I have one confusion. In cluster once you fail over sql resources to active node all of the
sql services including SQLSERVER and Agent are automatically stopped in passive node where we apply service pack. But in Stand alone, The services are not automatically stopped. Do I need to manually  stop those services like SQLSERVER, Agent, Browser
and others if any  before I start applying service pack?
    Early Response is highly appreciated.
    Thanks In Advance

    Hello,
You don’t need to stop SQL Server services. Let SQL Server setup do it as needed.
Please read the following article for the cluster you would like to update:

  • How to make sure I applied Service Pack correctly?

    Hi all,
I am using Weblogic Server 4.5.1 and I just applied service pack 8 to
it. Is there any way I can tell I installed it correctly? Thanks.
    --Tony
I tried the following java command:
    java weblogic.Admin t3://10.1.1.74:7001 VERSION
but it gives me an error "Exception in thread "main"
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/naming/NamingException" Please help
    me out, thanks!

It looks like you have \weblogic\classes in your classpath, add
\weblogic\lib\weblogicaux.jar to your classpath before running
    weblogic.Admin

  • Product release Didn't Change After Applying Service Packs

I have applied Service Pack 2,3,4 Crystal XI. My product Version 11.0.0.1883 stayed the same even after applying t service packs. Would anyone have any ideas why it still shows the old release, nd thanks for helping with my issue.
    Jim Dyer

    Hi Jim,
Make sure you are the local PC admin and that DEP is disabled. I've seen this happen also and there were no warnings or errors, it just didn't update.
Try re-installing the patches from a local drive and be sure to turn DEP off. Search Forums for more info on how to.
Also, what OS are you installing on?
    Thank you

  • Applying Service Pack on multiple instance SQL Server 2008 R2 Cluster and Standalone.

    Friends,
Its my first time I am applying Service pack to both Standalone and Clustered SQL 2008 R2 servers. I have multiple instances running on both stand alone and Clustered environment. I don't know how to apply pack with multiple instances. Do I need to apply
the service pack each instance one by one or I can just run the pack to each node of cluster and each box of stand alone server? Will I get any multi instance selection option during the installation process so that I can select multiple instances at once??

When installing service pack for multiple instances in a standalone machine, you just run the installer and it lists all the instances eligible for the update. You could do it one by one or do it at the same time. Doing it at the same time saves time and
energy. If you selected multiple instances then you dont have to do anything else.
In case of cluster, if you have multiple instances then you need to be little careful.
Eg: Assume you have a 2 node cluster Node 1 and Node 2. Two instances Instance 1 active on Node 1 and Instance 2 active on Node 2. What I would do in this case is to first failover any one instance to the passive node. Assume I failed over Instance 2 to
Node 1. Now Node 1 is active node for both instance 1 and instance 2 and Node 2 is passive for both instances. At this point I run the service pack on Node 2. Once patching is done, I reboot the node and then failover the instaces one by one to Node
    2. At this point both instances 1 and 2 would get upgraded and will be active in Node2. Now Node 1 is passive and so run the update there. Once the service pack is installed, reboot and then fail back Instance 1 back to Node 1. Note: I would also failover
Instance 2 to Node 1 just to confirm that failover works completely after service pack update.

  • Is it possible to apply service packs to NW04s ABAP Sneak Preview?

Service Pack 7 to NW04s contains the DEMO_REGEX_TOY, which I'd like to install in my ABAP sneak preview system.  I have some questions about that:
    1.  Is it possible to apply maintenance to the Sneak Preview?
    2.  What service packages need to be isntalled to upgrade the sneak preview rel/level from 7/5 to 7/7: 6 and then 7, or just 7?  That is, are those service packs cumulative?
    3.  I am unable to download the service packs from https://service.sap.com using the download manager.  I get an error in the trace output that says, "Unable to Find Certification Path."  I have no idea what that means, or how to circumvent that problem.  Is there an alternative way to get the Service Packs?
Thanks for any help/guidance you all can provide!

    Thanks.
I did manage to download the packs.  For others who may have similar difficulties, the solution to my download problem was to specify (in IE) http://service.sap.com as a trusted site.  That allowed Download Manager to get the files.
I'll also add that I successfully applied packs 6 & 7, as well as SP 70020 (required to update SPAM before applying pack 7) and am now in business!
(Not sure I have the correct terminology for those - here's the file names I applied: KB70006.CAR, KB70007.CAR, KD70020.CAR)

  • Upgrade sql server 2008 to 2008R2 and apply Service pack 3

    Hello,
I have a two node cluster (sql server 2008).  I would like to upgrade to SQL Server R2 and at the same time would like to patch to Service Pack 3.  What would be the best way to accomplish this task with minimal downtime to the users?
    This is my plan:
    1.  Detach any read only databases.
    2.  Upgrade to 2008 R2 (shared feature only) on passive node (node1).
    3.  Apply SP3 on passive node in step 2.
    4.  Swith active node to passive node (node2).
    5. Upgrade to 2008 R2 (shared feature only) on node2.
    6. Apply SP3 on node2.
    7.  Upgrade db (instance) on node2 to 2008 R2.
    8.  Upgrade db (instance) on node1 to 2008 R2.
    9.  Re-attach read only databases.
    Is my procedures correct?
    Thank you.

There is no Service Pack at all for SQL 2014. Service Pack 3 was recently released for SQL 2008 R2. Could it be that you downloaded this service pack, but all you have on your machine is SQL 2014? That would explain the error message.

  • CR 11 R2 - Applying Service Packs

I am trying to get my non Servie packed version of CR11 R2 to the latest SP. I've downloaded and attempted to apply SP2, but immediately got a dialog box say that SP1 had to be applied first. The download page does not list SP1.
I saw on one of the web pages that all SPs are incremental, which my experience with SP2 would seem to indicate; and the SP4 download has "incremental" as part of the file name, also indicating that SPs are incremental, but I found a recent post stating that all SPs are cumulative.
So, I'm left with two questions:
    1. Is there a cumulative SP4 for CR11 R2, if so where is it?
    2. If the SPs are incremental, I apparently need SP1 to get started, where is it?
A suggestion would be to make this information a bit more obvious and explicit.

    Hi Steve,
I hope [this page|http://resources.businessobjects.com/support/additional_downloads/service_packs/crxir2.asp] answers all your questions.
    Best regards

  • Planning to apply service pack on aix system

    Hello experts,
we are running sap r3 system on AIX platform. we are in the process of TSM backup client upgrade . For this upgrade aix needs prerequisite bos.rte 5.3.0.50 . our Exsisting oslevel is 5300-03-00. we need at least os level 5300-07-01-0748
we want to know if upgrade the service and maintenance level. Will it be any impact on our sap system? Please give your suggestions.

It should have no impact in your SAP system.
Always check PAM for any remaks.
    http://service.sap.com/pam -> <choose product> -> Operating Systems
Also, take a full backup of both SAP and your AIX before proceding
    Regards

  • Applying Service Pack stack

    Hi
I am working on SP Upgrade and stack are being applied i want to know if some changes has been made in SAP Standard object, the patches will be applied to these objects or not. As i have consulted some Abapers.
    1. some are telling that it will not touch once you have changed the Standard object.
    2. some consultants are telling that it will apply the patches with the existing changes.
    3. Some Abapers are telling that it will apply the patches but whatever changes we have done in Standard that will go off and only new patches will be there.
Thanks and please try to clear the picture.
    Balbir

After an upgrade you should be able to see the changes in transaction SPAU. The transaction lists the new version of the program, and the old version modified by you. You can then compare the two versions and decide which one to keep (in case the standard has incorporated your changes, or has new functionality, you wont need your version again).
Transaction SPDD will give you a list of the change dictionary objects.
A search on the forum with the transaction codes should give you further information on them.
    Hope this helps.

Changed SPRO to SPAU - dont know what I was thinking!

  • Apply service pack to upgrade from SP12 to SP14 - am I done?

I run a local instance of SAP portal for development and testing. I manage my jCo's, maintain a local UME for myself and my fellow WDP Java developers, and regularly manually transport and apply changes from our production system to keep my content and presentation synched.
Our development, testing and production environments have been updated from SP12 to SP14, and my goal is to keep my local instance aligned by updating it to SP14 too.
I have downloaded the necessary SP12 to SP14 support package files from the support portal, and generated the XML for the SPSTab.xml file. I have successfully deployed these files using JSPM/SDM.
I have downloaded the NWDS SP14 stack, extracted the files using SAPCAR, and executed the upgrade by launching the IDE70setup.exe application.
My update does not seem complete. Did I miss a step?

    Hello Jennifer,
You can find the component SP level by using the following URL:
    http://<host>:<port>/sap/monitoring/ComponentInfo
Note: Login to the portal first and then paste the above appropriate URL.
    Thanks,
    Mani.
