Primavera Project Management

Has anybody had any luck Thinapp'ing the Primavera P6 client and getting it to work in Windows 7? I captured it on XP and it works on XP, but not 7. I also tried capturing it on 7, but it still doesn't work on 7. If I delete the %SystemSystem%\oleaut32.dll and rebuild it then the client will run on 7 and not crash, but I end up with an error about encryption not being available when trying to establish a connection to the database. Any ideas?

I know this is an old thread, but was wondering if anyone has any luck with the Primavera P6 stand-alone installation (client & the Oracle Express DB)? The client sounds like it might be a little easier, but I have having major issues trying to vApp the database portion.

I have installed Primavera P6.1 in a laptop under Administrator Login.
After that, when I log in to the laptop with my user Id, primavera fails to start and gives the following message:

Does anybody know whether Primavera Project Management software can be used under Mac OSX ?

I itend to use the Primavera software which we are using under Windows with my Apple Notebook and would like to know whether there is an OS X version existing.

Primavera Project Management 5.0 & Windows 7

I am currently working with a customer who just upgraded their environment to Windows 7 and I'm having issues connecting to the database on their server after installing the Primavera client. I found a could posts on this forum and others, however nothing concrete regarding compatibility with W7. I am able to connect to the database from another computer, and I have everything configured the same way, however the client keeps returning a bad public user or password error. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Could you please upload the complete error here. There can be various reasons for failure.
Try to connect to PMDB from SQL*Plus using PUBUSER. If this does not work then try to check your tnsnames entry.

Project management module not starting

Hi
I am facing problem in running
primavera project management module.
I had lock
my system and then upon opning my login i faced an error
which are shown below.
Error:
"The file C:program files\primavera\project
management\PM.ini can not be set to read write
status"
After clik on OK. Following error comes:
"An application
event has been intercepted.Please note the event code for
the reference. Event code: AVAA0-3953-8" 
Kindly help me out in
resolving this situation earliest.

I lost permission for
read/write for controlling application in .ini file of
project management.

Project Management - Summarize Function

Hi, All!
I have been studying the integration process between P6 and EBS Projects and notice that we have to run the Summarize before execute the integration process from P6 to EBS.
But, I did not conclude why I need to run this summarize because it was not possible to see any results after running this process on the activity or EPS columns. And why I would need to run this summarization out of the integration scope.
So, Could anyone give any example on using this summarize function? Why is it needed/helpful?

"EBS Projects" stands for Oracle Enterprise Business Suite, module Projects.
This Oracle ERP solution that has an integration solution with Primavera Project Management P6.
Is there anyone who uses the Summarizer in order to keep the ETC and EAC updated and published to the team involved on the project? Besides the interface functionality, would you have any other situation where the summarizer is helpful?

P3 Project Manager Crashing with EBDClient error, when refreshing (F5)

My company has 3 sql databases for Prima on a server; 2 are approximately 1.5GB, and the third is just over 2GB
We have 5 client machines (xp sp3 32bit), that use the following setup:
P3 Project Manager version 5 (no service packs installed, but have tried sp1-3 on my machine with the same error)
oracle client 9.2 with tnsnames pointing to the sql server with the prima databases
each machine has 2GB memory with a 3-4GB pagefile
I do not have issues refreshing the other smaller databases.
both the client and server do not take a significant hit on resources while refreshing.
both the server and client are not reporting any errors under event viewer.
they all receive the following error when refreshing (F5) while logged in the third and largest database:

Project Management for Primavera Integration

Dear All,
I hope someone completed primavera and 11i integration successfully using AIA PIP. can anyone clear that where Oracle Project management is required or an optional one to integrate with primavera , only oracle project costing and billing module is enough.

Your information is really helpful, If I am not using Project Management then where to do the "Integration Related" Settings in Project Costing module to send data to primavera. Right now we have done Integration Related settings in Project Management module.

Compare Oracle Project Management and Primavera

Hi All,
We are using Primavera today and it is not integrated to Oracle.
We are also currently implementing Oracle Projects Management (R12.1.3) and trying to evaluate if Primavera can be replaced by Projects Management. Based upon my little experience with Primavera - I see some advantages of Primavera over Projects Management e.g.
a. Primavera is more user friendly than Oracle Projects Management.
Primavera: easy to create workplan; configurable views; generate reports with gantt charts
b. Primavera has scheduling engine to derive schedules based upon dates/duration/logic while Project Managment does not have it.
c. Gantt charts are better in Primavera than Oracle Projects Management.
Has anyone also done similar kind of analysis and evaluated the need of Primavera integration with Oracle Projects Management? I would appreciate if you can share your inputs.

I have used both the product. For project management i would suggest to use primavera for the same reason u mentioned.
the only disadvanage in primavera is it is not integrated with ERP.
Now oracle provide a AIA PIP integration package to integrate Primavera with oracle Projects(Limited integration). Use primaver for Project managment and oracle for Project Costing and Billing

Integration with Third Party Project Management Software

My company is looking for software that can be "bolted on" to Oracle Projects to provide more robust project managment functionality. We already know of two (Microsoft Project and Primavera), but we'd like to hear from other companies who may have implemented other solutions.

I've been involved on 2 projects that included integration into Projects. On both occasions Oracle's Activity Management Gateway (AMG) was used. AMG is the open interface for Projects. We used it on one occasion with Primavera Expedition to load budgets and the WBS and on another with MS Excel to upload budget information. ODBC and AMG was used on the MS Excel project.

which one is the latest version from Primavera in the
family of Project management tools?

The big changes in 6.2 were to the Web Application
(still not enough changes to fix its flaws), but there
were a few fixes to the Clent. This put some minimal
changes to the database. There is a KB notation as to
what changed in the schema. Sorry I cant find it right
now.

Link Contract Manager and Project Management

Hi all.
I follow userguide and some
solution in Knowledgebase to link Contract Manager 12.1
and Project Management 6.2, but it doesn't succeed. In Contract manager, when I right click on project
-> Project Setting -> Schedule. The
"schedule" option is gray out. I can not select
"Primavera".
Is there anyone try to
link these modules ? Please help me.

First check if Contract Manager Service has access to
the server that contains P6 database. 
If there is a connection, try to make
sure you are using good credentials (make sure that
you get the <servername>
<instancename> username/password
correct).

Is Oracle Project Management has all features which Microsoft Project Plan?

Hello Experts,
Customer wanted to start using Oracle Project Management suit completly along with little Microsoft project plan. as of now most of the projects are using microsoft project plan for project management and Oracle Project suit is for Costing and Billing.
But in order to start this initiative, we need to explain the difference which Oracle Project Management can not able to do but Microsoft project plan can. Based on this management will take the decesion.
As per my understanding, Orace Project Management can perform all the tasks except scheduling. As it supports scheduling from third party software like Microsoft project plan / primavera etc.
Rest I think Oracle Project management suit is equally matured to perform all the project management task which Mircosoft project management can perform.
So experts , can you please confirm my understanding and provide me some light on this topic.

First of all, I would like to know what are the various things you are performing with a Microsoft project plan apart from scheduling the resources to a specific project .
Through Oracle Project Management, you can control the visibility of a resource,assign it to a particular project and control the tracking of the time in various assignments.If that is what you are trying to achieve through Oracle Project Management icnluding the other features it has, you can surely go for it.

Project Manager and Impulse responses

I just bought some new IR's from Spirit Canyon audio.
2 CD's worth. You can download Space Designer presets from their website but the presets dont know where the IR's are.
So I have to locate every file manually.
I wish the project manager could re-connect the IR's to the presets like it can with the EXS-24.
